About Activity
Today, meet your guide in the hotel lobby at 08:00 to embark on a comprehensive 8-hour tour of Alexandria. Begin with a visit to Pompey’s Pillar, a 25-meter-high pink granite column often mistakenly attributed to Pompey by Crusaders, surrounded by the remains of the Serapeum, including the Temple of Isis and Cleopatra’s library. Explore the Catacombs of Kom ash-Shuqqafa, the largest Roman burial site in Egypt, featuring three tiers of tombs and a banquet hall for funeral feasts. Continue to the recently discovered Roman Amphitheater, the only one in Egypt, and then visit the 15th-century Citadel of Qaitbay on the Mediterranean coast. Along the waterfront, see the New Alexandria Library, which pays homage to the ancient center of learning established in the 3rd century B.C. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant with a view of the Mediterranean Sea. Note: Note: Alexandria Library closed on Fridays
