Disappointed with the City Highlight walk, especially after doing the same walk in Calgary. The tour guide was more interested in giving his point a view on politics, social issues etc then telling the history behind the places visited. At times his language was not appropriate.

ICE District is a 25‑acre, mixed‑use sports and entertainment hub in downtown Edmonton, centered around Rogers Place — home to the NHL’s Oilers and a major concert venue . Anchored by a public plaza, the development includes high-end dining, boutique retail, the Grand Villa Casino, a JW Marriott hotel with luxury residences, plus two office towers (including the 66‑story Stantec Tower, Canada’s tallest outside Toronto) and condos . Ultra‑connected via LRT, pedways, parking and Ford Hall, it has revitalized the city core
This is an outdoor museum that pays homage to Edmonton's lost businesses in the past. You will learn from a local guide the history of the cities' flourishing post-war economy.
104 Street, known as the 4th Street Promenade, is a revitalized terrace in downtown Edmonton between Jasper Avenue and the ICE District. Housed in historic warehouse‑era buildings, it blends upscale boutiques, artisanal shops, cozy cafés (like Credo, KB&Co), top‑tier dining (Corso 32, Cask & Barrel) and charming pubs. You’ll also spot unique attractions like the Neon Sign Museum and the Alley of Light outdoor galleries . Over summer weekends the street transforms into an Al Fresco market with patios, pop‑ups, community events, all adding to its urban‑oasis vibe.
The Alberta Legislature Building, often called “the Ledge,” sits in a stunning Green space. Built between 1907 and 1913 in grand Beaux‑Arts (Classical Revival) style by Allan Merrick Jeffers and Richard Blakey, it features a soaring 57 m dome above a marble‑columned rotunda, granite and sandstone exterior, and interiors rich in marble, mahogany, oak, and brass. Walk through the grounds and hear tales of how Alberta came to be

I liked our guide, sorry I didn’t catch his name just his initials j-F He was interesting, we chatted about history , and what’s happening in the city He walked at a great pace not too fast not too slow, easily waiting for me to take pics there were only 3 of us, our guide and another fellow from Toronto so it was a very casual stroll And at the end directed me to the subway to get back to the airport
I am sure the tour could be wonderful but unfortunately, we had an unengaging, disinterested guide. You learned nothing about the city if you didn't walk within earshot of him - and with a group that is hard to do. Very diappointing.
Wonderful, informative tour. Our guide was full of interesting information. One suggestion, take water and sit down breaks- 3 hours of walking is a long time without a break.
This was not the best city tour I've ever had. Our guide spent quite a lot of time on his phone and ignoring the group. There was a lot of walking, which was expected, but a lot of the time we weren't seeing anything🤷
When first arriving in Edmonton our thoughts were what are we going to do for 3 days as initial impressions of the city are run down and not a lot to offer. Thankfully we had booked this tour and spent a great 3 hours seeing lots of areas and understanding the history of Edmonton. Our guide was knowledgable of the area, able to recommend a number of things to see/do and knew the history and progression of Edmonton. Not all you see reflects the nice bits but it is an honest city that has a lot to offer once you dig a bit
I booked with one of the tour sites (Tripadvisor, Viator or GetYourGuide), but received correspondence from Toonie Tours. It was a bit unclear that there would be another party that was actually offering the tour. The tour was good, I believe we all learned something more about the city. It was very hot and having a stop at the festival taking place at the time to grab a drink or an ice cream would have been appreciated. We stopped closer to the end of the tour and many members of the group ended up leaving at that time (at this stop) because of the heat and the duration of the tour. It could have maybe been a bit shorter with more stops along the way. The tour guide Matthew was very friendly and provided a lot of information on the tour.
Good tour, got lots of recommendations for what else to see in the city
The guide told us about the sights in a very interesting and comprehensive manner; it was very exciting. I really enjoyed, especially for that price. Highly recommend!
Haley took us on an excellent tour of Downtown Edmonton today! It was a great introduction to the highlights of the city. We will definitely look for additional Toonie Tours in other cities. Thanks Haley!
Very informative, it's alot of walking. Good information about the city. Saw some unique sights. Legislature gardens are nice
It turns out that Edmonton is quite a cool city! We had an excellent tour guide highlighting interesting architecture, history, experiences, and recommendations for food and activities. We enjoyed our friendly and knowledgeable guide and highly recommend this walking tour.
A great introduction to Edmonton. Our guide Edmond was great! Knowledgeable, personable, and knew his history! A great day!
Expect plenty of walking but worth it. Our guide was great in her way of telling the story of Edmonton.
Our guide Edmund was detailed, accommodating and very engaging as he created a memorable experience of Edmonton! It was a valued experience to learn about this city’s history, culture and diversity! A must tour to complement your Edmonton visit!
This walking tour was a great overview of the city. Hailey was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable. She was able to answer any questions that were posed and she was very pleasant to be with for the three hours.
Excellent your our guide was so well informed and provided a very interesting and informative tour of Edmonton!
I spent a few days in Edmonton in April 2026 and I thought the best way to view the city was to book a guided tour, and was pleased to see the walking tour option as I hope enjoy a good stroll. The instructions for the meeting point were very clear and the guide was immediately recognisable (one big tick there). We set off on our walk around the city, pointing out the various landmarks and buildings and points of interest along the way. There were lots of opportunities for questions and kudos for the patience shown for some of my more esoteric questions. As the group was quite small, we were able to make a pitstop at Fawkes coffee before continuing on our way. As well as the downtown area, the tour went to -among other places - the ice District, the Parliamentary District, down to the river, and ultimately looping back to where we began. Having concluded the tour, I feel a little disappointed that I wasn’t here in the summertime to see the leaves on the trees and the many fountains filled with water as I suspect those are some spectacular sites to see. So I would think I would definitely recommend this to any summer tourists in Edmonton. But I would also recommend it in late spring as I did too. This is a gratuity based tour so the initial price, consider that an admin fee and you’re encouraged to tip generously based on how you think it was organised. I thought it was excellent, and I think you will too. One word of advice, do check the weather forecast before you go and dress accordingly.
Excellent walking tour of Edmonton. We learned a great deal about the city and its history. Hailey, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and paced the tour perfectly. She was able to answer all our questions and gave terrific suggestions for additional things to do in Edmonton. Highly recommend this tour.
Thank you for a great experience exploring Downtown Edmonton. Informative and easy paced walk.
An excellent guide and walking tour around Edmonton. The guide was very friendly and informative. We learnt a lot about the city.
Good orientation to downtown Edmonton, helped us find our way around later that day. But...could have been more informative, our guide didn't know answers to what we felt were basic questions about Edmonton. Didn't know the monuments well. The description of the tour said the guides are passionate about the city, our guide was not. Nice young man but tour was a bit lame.
I had a great experience with Juan on the Edmonton walking tour. He was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting facts about the city’s history, culture, and architecture. The tour was well-organized and gave us really good coverage of downtown Edmonton . I discovered places I wouldn’t have found on my own. Juan made the walk enjoyable. . Highly recommend this tour if you want to explore the city in a fun and informative way!
Our guide, Julie, was on time and very pleasant and helpful. She travelled at a pace that was just right. She provided valuable information about our plans for the rest of our visit to Edmonton. Julie was flexible and friendly.
Hailey was a well-informed and excellent guide. She plied me with an interesting overview of Edmonton and its history. I lucked out that I was the only person on the tour. We covered four miles. I was delighted with the city's many murals. Hailey gave me some restaurant recommendations. The suggestion to visit the Muttart Conservatory was the best idea for this plant enthusiast. Walked from there to 82nd Ave (Whyte) historic area after that which was also recommended. Very cool area if you go the right way and miss the sketchy part of town. Thank you Toonie Tours.
Our friendly guide Hailey led a wonderful tour covering the history, fun spots, and beautiful views of Edmonton. Tour was very nicely paced, including a coffee/restroom break at a beautiful coffee house. Hailey pointed out the best photo stops, and guided us through places like the Ice District, the Arts District, and more. Very enjoyable tour.
Great time. Julie was a good tour guide. Learned a lot about Edmonton and saw a lot of places we never would of thought about going to.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour of Edmonton. Our tour guide Julie was raised in Edmonton, and was very knowledgeable about the history of the city. She provided a great overview of the city and its people. During our tours of City Hall and the Legislative Building, she provided excellent explanations about how the provincial government works. When we visited the Ice District she told us how hockey is more than just a sport to the residents of Edmonton; it is a big part of their lives. Throughout the tour Julie was friendly and approachable, and provided very thorough responses to our questions. We would choose Julie as a tour guide on future tours if we had the opportunity.
Julie, our friendly tour guide, gave us an awesome insight to her home town with a lot of distinctive background information and some fancy stories behind places you wouldn't find in an official guide book. It makes all the difference to see the city shown by a real enthusiast. Thanks a lot, Julie!
It was a great walking tour of Edmonton! Loved the colourful murals, the stories about historical buildings, the impressive view of the river and the cool coffee place we've visited. Wow! Thank you!!!
Amazing tour of downtown Edmonton! From the Citadel Theatre to the Alberta Legislature, Churchill Square, Rogers Place, and the Ice District—Ethan made it all fun and fascinating Not forgetting the photo ops that comes along the walk… did 15,000 steps!
The walking tour with Ethan was wonderful! I hadn’t planned to do a tour during my stay in Edmonton at first, but I’m so glad I did. There was so much interesting information and hidden history in the town. Ethan did a great job throughout the entire tour, giving just the right amount of information at each stop and in between. I had a lot of fun with him and the group, and I would highly recommend it!
Our guide, Ethan, a life long Edmontonian knows his city well. He is well rounded as a guide with many interests including past history & the future of Edmonton with smart Urban Planning. We saw a lot of places that I would not have found on my own. The pioneers of the city were to be admired. I highly recommend this walk if new or already living in Edmonton. Thanks Ethan !
Enjoyed the tour. Lots of walking. Our guide Ethan made some suggestions on places to eat, which is nice from a local. I enjoyed it.
I’m so glad to have booked this walking tour of Edmonton on my 2 day trip here. Ethan was amazing and shared so much about the city, it’s various cool neighborhoods, it’s history, sports, music and sports scene, surrounding areas and much much more; the 3 hours just flew by. The city has so much more to offer than what is otherwise generally known, and that wouldn’t have been possible for me to realize if I hadn’t taken this tour. Thanks again Ethan, cheers!!
Great walking tour with Ethan. Being local he knew the city very well and gave us a good overview of the history of the city and buildings. Also was very helpful in advising us about further walks we could do in the city. I would highly recommend it!
Haley really showcased the history, architecture and culture of downtown Edmonton with her incredible knowledge of the city past and present. The pace of the tour was just right, the time flew by and we had FUN.
