Canmore: Wilderness & Wildlife Tour - 2hr Walk

Our guide, Jacob, was so knowledgeable about Canmore and the surrounding areas. Not just about wildlife but also about history too. We had a wonderful time, walking through some beautiful hidden trails. We would book with Jacob again in a heartbeat. Well worth doing, even if just for the scenery.

Nice walk during a shoulder season

We had an awesome experience! Our guide was Jacob and he was funny, super knowledgeable and even though we didn’t see any animals (sort of a tough season to see them) we had some amazing views and a great time!

Our guide was Aísla who took us round back trails that we would never have known about. The 2 hour steady walk was perfect for our family group. Although sightings of the local wildlife were limited by the drizzly weather, we still enjoyed seeing the landmarks and learning the history of Canmore. Thank you Aísla from Mark, Tan and Jessica.

We had a great day with our granddaughters on this tour! Jacob was very knowledgeable and went above beyond to make sure we had a great time. We saw a grizzly at close range, mountain goats, deer, and various other small game! We traveled areas away from the crowds and got to see all the incredible scenery this area has to offer! It was a day we won’t soon forget!

Isla our guide was very friendly and informative, she knew the local plants along with knowledge of local wildlife, she told us about the Yellowstone to Yukon wildlife corridor which we were walking in, totally recommend her

Jacob was great and informative. We had a private tour due to the other group cancelling so it was just us and Jacob. We got to see many bodies of water and the mountains were covered in snow as it had snowed a couple days back. We will be coming back in the summer to him!!

We had a delightful hike with our knowledgeable guide Ben. He took us on trails that were tailored to our skill level and told us a lot about wildlife and native plants. It was exactly what we wanted.

Jake is a great guide- very knowledgeable and extremely attentive to the needs of a diversified group - plus he is quite an entertaining guy. Totally recommend doing this tour.

There were only the two of us along with Jacob our guide on the walk. With his education in history, outdoors certifications and being raised in Canmore, Jacob had lots of interesting stories. We had lively conversation for the full two hours. It's an easy path. We were fortunate to see a bull Elk with his 'ladies' -- were very close, bedded down for the afternoon. Worth doing. I recommend.

Had a wonderful time on this walk. The scenery was beautiful and the guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. We definitely recommend this to anyone who has an interest in exploring the wonders of the area.

The walking tour went at a nice easy pace for me with a bum knee but was still vigorous and fun. We saw some amazing sights, hidden gems of trails and Jacob knows where the animals are :-). The herd of elk we saw were magnificent. Definitely booking again with Jacob on my return trip this fall.

Our guide Jacob took us on a 3 hour round trip leading us out of Canmore town centre, showing us trails known only to locals. After what seemed quite a short 40 minute or so walk he led us to a herd of around 40 Elk feeding by the river. It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience, made all the more amazing by how close we still were to Canmore itself. We could hear the bull elk calling as he manoeuvred the herd towards the river and we could also hear a second bull also calling as a challenge from farther away. We later saw the main bull elk (from a safe distance) partially hidden in the long grass - just magical! Later on in the same trip we were lucky enough to spot a pair of bald eagles in the distance after Jacob had heard their call. Jacob's extensive knowledge and insights made this trip really fun and informative and his knowledge of the local area meant we could see things we never would have known how to find otherwise. I would highly recommend this tour.

Great experience, guide was amazing and so knowledgeable. We saw elk, and other critters. He taught us about the local fauna and flora. I will be booking an intermediate hike next year.

As someone who’s isn’t much of a hiker, this was honestly a really great experience. Alpine Jake was an amazing guide - he’s incredibly knowledgeable of the area and the wildlife and we learned so much during our 2 hour hike. The views are absolutely incredible and even though we didn’t see wildlife, I would definitely recommend this experience for hikers of all ages & experience levels!

We had a great time with Jacob (Our Guide) He was engaging and shared a lot of interesting facts about the area and the wildlife in the area. Unfortunately we didn't see any wildlife but we had some spectacular views and the trails were for the most part very friendly.

The wilderness and wildlife walk was the second walk we did with this company. Our guide, Jacob, paid attention during our previous walk and personalized the walk on what we would be interested in. The walk is through a nice wilderness area. We came across signs of animals, but they were elusive as sometimes happens with wildlife. Our guide made the walk fun and informative. I would definitely use them again.

This was very nice. The view was incredible and the walk was wonderful. Was very interesting to learn about bears, bob cats, goats and sheep. And our guide was a lot of fun.

This was a great tour! Great scenery and the guide was very knowledgeable about the area. Didn't see any animals but still lots to see.

My favourite part was definetely our guide Jacob!!! He was informative, kind and funny and very passionate about Canmore.... We did see some elk at the outskirts of town, and the scenery was breathtaking.

I booked this for a friend's visit from Ontario. We had a great time and saw sone amazing scenery. The price was great and we had so much fun we booked a tour for another trek the next day with the same guide. We ended up having the tour guide to ourselves both times which was an added bonus.

My husband and I decided last minute to go to Canmore and do this tour and we are very happy that we did. Jacob was a great guide. Would absolutely recommend this to others. Would love to do a different one next time.

We stayed in Canmore for a winter getaway and decided to try the Canmore Trails and Tales walking tour. Jacob took us on an excellent tour of Canmore and the surrounding trails. We got lots of history and some amazing photo opportunities. This is a very worthwhile adventure. It's not a difficult tour to navigate, and Jacob fit the tour to us. Definitely would recommend this tour for an opportunity to understand the history of Canmore and to see the local wildlife.
