Manny, our driver was amazing! He was friendly and accomodating, and I felt safe as a passenger. He kept the cabin of the clean van cool as it was warm outside. Royal Tyrell Museum was absolutely astonishing- exceeding my high expectations. To me the experience was well worth the money, as it was the best way to feel comfortable and safe to see exhibits I have long looked forward to from the other side of the world.

The canyon gets its name from its horseshoe shape, defined by two coulees that flow into the Kneehill Creek, a tributary of the Red Deer River. The canyon's two arms are approximately 5 km long each, extending from Highway 9 to Kneehill Creek, at two former mining communities of Dunphy and Gatine. In turn, it gives the name to the Horseshoe Canyon Formation.
Welcome to Drumheller!
A hoodoo is a tall thin rock spire made of sandstone with a hard and dense rock sitting on top, like a hat. Or as the sign at the park describes them: “Eroded pillars of soft sandstone rock topped with a resilient cap.“ The hoodoos are formed over hundreds of years through erosion from freezing, frost, melt and wind. Over time, the sandstone erodes into long chimney-like formations that remain standing because the hard rock “hat” keeps it from completely eroding away. The hard rock on the top of the hoodoos protects the soft layer of sandstone underneath from the elements creating the odd shape. But once they reach the stage of being the cute fairytale chimneys, they don’t last long! It is said that every 100 years, they lose 2-4 feet.
The Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site is an inactive coal mine in Alberta, Canada that operated from 1936 to 1979. It is considered to be Canada's most complete historic coal mine and is home to the country's last standing wooden coal tipple, and the largest still standing in North America. It was designated an Alberta Provincial Historic Resource in 1989 and a National Historic Site of Canada in 2002.
The "World's Largest Dinosaur" is the name of a roadside tourist attraction in the form of a model Tyrannosaurus rex
Originally built in 1968, this famous tiny church serves as a place of worship & meditation.
It's hard to believe we have something this natural and breathtaking in the middle of nowhere Alberta! The views are amazing, and you're left with a sense of peacefulness that modern society doesn't...

Our driver Ali was amazing, even though we had horrible weather raning the whole day he was full of knowledge and kept us well entertained. He was great to our son and made the entire trip memorable. Thank you again.
We stayed in Calgary for a week without renting a car, so arranging a couple private day trips was necessary. We decided to splurge on a private tour...and ABest is a good firm to go with. Our driver, Ali was very chatty, and had a lot of great tips and stories. Only snafu was a miscommunication about stopping at an old ghost town that we had no interest in and have visited similar in our western US trips.
Wonderful trip. Enjoyed Manny so much. Very friendly..helpful and patient. So glad we booked this trip. Thank you Anne Carter
I love dinosaurs so I have always wanted to visit the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller! I happened to be in Calgary on my way home from a big trip so I decided to see if it was reasonable to fit in a visit to Drumheller while I was there. Thanks to Abest Transport & Tour, it was! Our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, sorry I didn't have better cold-weather clothing to get out and explore more! My main goal was to the see the Royal Tyrell and it was excellent. There are so many cool specimens there, including a surprising number of intact and mostly intact ones. Those are so rare to find but Alberta is one of the best places for it. If you also love dinosaurs the Royal Tyrell in Drumheller is a must-see.
Amman was very pleasant and he was great when my son thought he lost his wallet, which ended up In between the seats in van, then my car keys were also in my son pocket which fell with wallet but we didn’t realize til after Amman dropped us off at hotel. I called Amman and he went back checked that that evening, he didn’t find, but called the next morning and asked if he could double check and he did find the keys!!!
We had a wonderful family day. The kids loved the Badlands and the Museum. The giant T-Rex was a hit
Or tour guide Aljay was personable and very flexible to accommodate our tour wants and food sensitivities. Enjoyed the stop in the Badlands at Horseshoe Canyon and the later stop to view hoodoos. The Royal Tyrell Museum is excellent.
We visited the horseshoe canyon, hoodoos, Tyrell Museum and many more places all within a day; this was great for us, especially since we had a short stay in Alberta and wanted to see Drumheller and the Badlands. I highly recommend this tour, and I am looking forward to booking another tour with them soon.
Our guide for the day was amazing! This was by far one of the highlights of our trip. Jef was friendly, knowledgeable and just overall amazing. The tour was catered to our interests which was fantastic for a group of Girl Guides from Ontario! While we there were too many fake dinosaurs (inside joke with Jef) we enjoyed every minute of the trip. We were very grateful he took a detour at our request to hit up McDonalds for some cold beverages and some ice cream on a hot day. We will recommend ABest Transport & Tour Services to everyone.
The museum was outstanding . I would recommend seeing it to my friends. The geology of the area was also very interesting
The museum was wonderful and the hoo doos were great. The stop in Drumheller to see the large dinosaur display was nice. The coal mine was closed. The tour was pricy for a drive basically to see a museum.
The one-day tour was awesome and the weather was perfect. Our tour guide, Jef, was friendly and knowledgeable. ABest Transport & Tour Services is highly recommended.
We enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit and araa. Our tour guide and driver was terrific. Very accommodating and attentive to our schedule. We highly recommend him. I gave used Viator for many excursions when I travel. Thank tou for the terrific time. Linda
I just returned home for a trip to Calgary where I was to experience Stampede, Banff and Jasper National Parks, and to visit the Royal Tyrrell Museum and Dinosaur Provincial Park. I reserved my transportation to the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller with ABest Transport and Tour Services. Joey, the coordinator at ABest Transport, contacted me a couple of days before my trip to Drumheller to confirm all the details. The trip itself was great. My driver, Amman, was polite, thoughtful, and patient. We had a rich, rewarding conversation there and back. If I needed to go to the restroom ("washroom" in Canada) along the way, he kindly stopped. After the success of my trip to Drumheller, I reached out to Joey again and booked a trip to the Dinosaur Provincial Park. Most visitors know about the RTM but fewer know about DPP. If you enjoy learning about dinosaurs, want to see the Badlands and prairies, and have the time, I highly recommend a trip to DPP. Joey worked with me and was able to get me transportation to DPP that fit my schedule. One note of caution: If you want to visit DPP, check out the DPP website in advance. This you must do on your own. I registered via the website for the Explorer's Bus Tour which is two-hours. On the bus tour, you get to see sites that regular guests to the Park can't. For example, you get to visit and learn about paleontology history at the Park and get to see actual fossils on site. You get to touch and look for some on your own as well. It packs a lot into it for two hours. After the tour ends, you can explore the grounds nearby. I would recommend also visiting John Ware's cabin which is nearby the visitor center. John Ware was an African-American who became one of Canada's best-known and most legendary cowboys. Manny, my driver who brought me to DPP, waited patiently during my bus tour and afterwards, while I explored John Ware's cabin and did a brief walk among the incredible Badlands landscape (which is inside the DPP). After we left DPP and made our way back to Calgary, he made some stops for me to take pictures along the side of the road. The prairies are stunning for miles and miles to and from DPP. If you travel in early July (when I did), you'll see seemingly endless yellow flowers. They are canola plants and make for a lovely photo in the prairies. Both trips to RTM and DPP make for excellent day trips outside of Calgary. I recommend giving yourself a day to do each of these trips because they require several hours of driving there and back. I can't thank ABest Transport enough for their flexibility and professionalism to get me to where I wanted to visit during my time in Calgary. For travelers who don't have a car, I can't recommend ABest enough.
The tour sites were very good (Royal Tyrell museum) to bad (fake dinosaur and tiny church) The problem was we thought we were getting a PRIVATE DAY TOUR that I spent a lot of money for. Instead we got a driver. He never spoke with us, we barely knew where we were going next and we got no information about anything. I had to ask him his name. A tour should provide information about what is on the tour. It was a lot of money for a person to shuttle us around with zero conversation,
Royal Tyrrell is fabulous. Viewing Badlands vistas great. Atlas Coal Mine terrible…delete it. Guide Amman from Phillippines was very good and has an interesting background.
Had a great time! The guide was very accommodating. Saw lots. The museum was very cool. The T-rex was awesome
This tour was seriously awesome. My tour guide, Jeff, was awesome. Super knowledgeable of the area, super friendly, great conversations. I had the chance to explore many areas with no set timer, we went at my pace. It's as if you had a friend in the area who is showing you around. We even took a small detour to an old school car show in a small town on our way to the first stop. Overall a fantastic day
Great tour guide Jeff . The tour was exactly as planned and the scenery was outstanding RED DEER RIVER was beautiful . the highlight was seeing CALGARY CITY as we returned 5 star tour
Jeff was a great guide! He was very knowledgeable of the area and gave fantastic local (and international) travel tips and recommendations. He offered to take photos of us at every stop which is super important to me.
We all love so much our journey:) Manny our guide was so gentle and did everything to please us and we had a fabulous day love everything 😉💖
Excellent service and tour. Arnel was a wonderful guide. He was attentive to all our requests and doubts. The van was clean and sanitized. All the covid restrictions were followed. The Tyrrell Museum is a wonderful place to visit, but also the city of Drumheller. It is amazing to see all the city involved with the dinosaur theme. Bravo!
My father and I travelled to Calgary and decided to do the Royal Tyrell Museum and Horseshoe Canyon tour. I was not disappointed. I’ve wanted to go to the Royal Tyrell Museum since I was young and it first opened. Needless to say, I was excited. We had Joey as our guide. Coming from someone who travels the world and does many of these types of trips, Joey was the best we’ve had, ever. His friendliness and knowledge were great. His willingness to accommodate plans based on our wants were amazing. Horseshoe Canyon and the Tyrell museum, along with the other stops we made were all as wonderful as expected, but Joey really made the trip the extra bit special
I took a private tour to visit Drumheller since the regular tour usually only stay in the museum less than 2 hours. The tour operator helped me to take all the place which I wanted to go and stayed in the museum as I wanted. I’m so satisfied with your tour :) When I come back to Calgary, I’ll book Banff tour with you next time!
This is the best tour company in Canada, they exceeded our expectations! We will definitely book our tours again with them when we visit Calgary!
Die Landschaft der Badlands ist faszinierend und das Royal Tyrrell Museum ist eindrücklich. Dieser Abstecher von Calgary ist sehr empfehlenswert.
