What a great night. Our tour guide Tatiana was fantastic!!! She was very knowledgeable about the night sky and about technology - gave us great tips on taking nighttime pictures. Although Aurora didn’t want to come out bright - the skies were magical. The chairs by the lake under the stars was the best way to enjoy the night sky. Toe and hand warmers sure made us my comfortable in the chilly evening. Thank you Tatiana for a wonderful evening.

Itinerary
Step aboard our comfortable van and prepare for a unique nighttime adventure. Your stargazing experience begins with pickups in the charming towns of Canmore and Banff, surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies. As you settle in, our friendly driver-guide will ensure a relaxed and enjoyable ride, offering insights into Banff National Park and tips for making the most of your stargazing experience.
Your evening begins at our favorite local lookout, where you’ll take in a beautiful nighttime view of Banff as the town lights glow below and the surrounding peaks fade into silhouette. From this elevated vantage point, your guide sets the tone for the night, sharing thoughtful insights into Banff’s history and how this mountain town came to be — a calm, reflective start that invites you to slow down and leave the day behind.
From here, a short, scenic drive brings you to Lake Minnewanka as dusk deepens. At the lakeshore, you’ll set out on a guided 45-minute walk along the water and through the surrounding forest. Headlamps and hiking poles are provided to help you navigate the trail comfortably. Slow down and experience the mountains after dark as you listen to the sounds of the forest, observe the silhouettes of the trees and surrounding peaks, and take in the peaceful nighttime atmosphere. Your guide will share stories about Lake Minnewanka’s history, Indigenous connections, and local wildlife, adding context to the landscape around you. You’ll discover a different side of this familiar destination after sunset. Before leaving, you’ll reach an open viewpoint for your first unobstructed view of the stars, offering a beautiful preview of the stargazing experience to come at Two Jack Lake. From here, you’ll travel deeper into the park as the forest darkens and the night settles in.
Upon arriving at our hand-selected viewpoint on the shores of Johnson Lake, you’ll settle into premium heated chairs, thoughtfully chosen to keep you warm as the temperatures drop. You’ll have access to telescopes, binoculars, and iPads equipped with constellation-identification apps, allowing you to explore the night sky in vivid detail. Planets, star clusters, and distant galaxies come into focus, transforming the sky into a living map of light. To complete the experience, enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate or cup of tea — a simple, cozy comfort that pairs perfectly with the quiet atmosphere of the evening.
As the day draws to a close, you’ll be safely returned to your original pickup location, with all the insights you need to continue your journey, ready to embrace whatever comes next with ease and excitement. Throughout the evening, every detail is carefully considered to keep the experience smooth, comfortable, and unhurried — focusing on atmosphere and awareness rather than rushing through facts.

Abdol was fantastic! We truly could not have asked for a better evening. We loved getting to see and experience Banff after dark while learning so much about its history. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful, clear night, perfect for stargazing! Abdol even taught us how to use our phones to capture incredible photos of the stars. The evening was the perfect mix of exploring different locations, learning about Banff, and enjoying the night sky. Such a unique and memorable experience! We highly recommend this tour!
Abdul was an excellent guide! Very knowledgeable, engaged and quick to ensure we all had an amazing time and were warm. He also took some incredible photos and taught us how to take them! It was incredibly cold, but he made sure we had hand warmers, hot drinks, and offered leg warmers as well. He also offered warmer alternatives to continue the tour after Lake Minnewanka. It was so memorable, and very worthwhile! Just be sure to bundle up if you’re going in the colder months (scarves, at least 3 layers, warm coat, etc!). Pickup in Banff was easy and quick!
Tatiana was an exceptional guide! Her friendly and attentive nature made us feel at ease, and we thoroughly enjoyed learning about the stars and the mythical stories associated with them. Best, Selene
Lucas was a fantastic, caring Guide who took care to keep us warm in freezing temps and was very informational. That being said, it is way too cold to have this particular tour during this time of year. Freezing temps, walking in pitch black darkness very unsafe and just too many hours out in the harsh elements.
Lucas was great nice informative and sociable… the weather wasn’t until the last minute started tour at 1830 weather cleared at 2300 seen stars for 20 or so minutes…. Should have been rescheduled.
“It was an exceptional experience! Tatiana was thorough at every step of the tour, and learning a few tricks for taking stunning photos of the stars made it even more memorable.”
An absolutely amazing experience and once that we will no forget!
A really great night out under the stars. Small group size, quick and easy pick up and drop off, and a couple of wonderful locations to get some great night photos. Thanks!
This tour was amazing! The stunning views with the mountains and stars were beautiful! Our tour guide was so informative and friendly. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Efficient operation! Toby was an excellent guide prompt, informative, kind and encouraging. Climbing the rock pile was challenging but so worth it- recommend you use the complimentary walking sticks. Unfortunately clouds prevented our stargazing but it was special soaking up the views. The trip down was easier than expected with Toby leading the way.
We did the stargazing tour with our guide Georgia and it was excellent. Georgia was very knowledgeable and shared some really great stories about the stars. We had hot chocolate by the lake side and watched the night sky with heated seats, it was a truly unmissable experience and so glad we did it!
The tour guides were amazing. Great personalities and very attentive to the travelers. So many little things that made you feel spoiled. The chairs, blankets, hot drinks in little thermoses, head lamps. They even had hiking sticks. They were actively interacting with everyone. Definitely worth booking.
The overall experience was great, and very cool to be by the lakesides at night. Our guide, Georgia, was very informative and entertaining. I would recommend to anyone looking for evening entertainment.
What an AWESOME tour. Abdul, our tour guide is so knowledgeable and friendly. This was the highlight of the week for us. He taught us how to take pictures of the sky at night, picked us up in Canmore at our resort, had tripods for the cell phone cameras, set up two person heated camp chairs and served hot chocolate. And the pictures - we are showing the pictures to all our family and friends. If you have the chance, take this tour!
It was truly a bucket list experience in celebratingour 45th anniversary! Jerod was super attentive knowledgeable and engaging. Loved the small personable tour size of 10. Jerod with assist of new friends Katy & Tom from London were so kind in helping me set up my phone camera correctly to take some amazing photos. Seeing the milky way was amazing! The warm chairs and blankets and hot cocoa were much appreciated. Would definitely book this tour again , especially when the aurora index is strong!
The trip was spectacular. The guide was helpful - helping me adjust my camera settings for great pictures- attentive, and a joy. The perks to keep us comfy and warm were great.
Do it! Spectacular trip, not just the stars but the guide's knowledge, personality, and the perks (heated seats, hand warmers, hot chocolate) made it a perfect end to the day.
Our Stargazing Tour was everything we hoped for and more. History, funny stories and multiple viewing stops. Our guide Georgia was kind, funny and so knowledgeable.
The stargazing tour was very amateur and a total waste of money - and it was not inexpensive. I'm not speaking about clouds affecting view, I'm speaking about operationally. The pick up was fine and the driver used a headphone set to project her voice in the enclosed van, which was good. However, she discarded the headset projection as soon as we arrived at each of the 3 stops. Even with only 10 people, it was impossible to hear her when she was speaking facing forward and we were behind her and several other people. Both sets of headlights given to us were broken - my husband's kept flicking off, and mine didn't hold the angle/ position I tried to set it at. The tour description said they use telescopes - plural. At the first stop, none were used. At the second stop, she pulled out a laser pointer and an iPad. Sorry, but I've got apps on my phone also, so using an iPad is not the same as a telescope. Now let's get to the third and final, grand finale stop. There was no secondary crew setting up the heated chairs in advance, making the drinks, etc. It was all on the guide who had to drag all the equipment out of the van and she didn't want help. So, we had to wait, which would have been better if there were the telescopes set up. But no, that was not the case. We had to wait for her to set up all the chairs, distribute blankets, install and turn on chargers for the heat, take drink orders (hot water with a sprinkle of faintly chocolate flavor), and make the drinks before she even started talking about the sky. And then she was more focused on distributing the tripods for phones and passing around the iPad. It wasn't until 10 min before asking if we wanted to leave early that she even bothered to set up a singular telescope. Seriously? Talk about misleading advertising! Finally, when it came time to pack up, she again refused help and we had to wait quite some time in the van for her to assemble everything to pack up and load in the van. For comparison, let me describe a stargazing experience in New Zealand. The guide was not alone. There was a crew waiting at the site with several telescopes set up, already aimed at points for observation and discussion. The guide did just that - guide us while others did the operational work of telescope set up and serving drinks. And they had high-powered professional telescopes that we wouldn't normally have access to on our own...and the price was a fraction of what this tour cost. So, no I would not recommend this tour or company for stargazing. Maybe the day tours are decent enough, but stay away from stargazing tours with them. If you are in Jasper, the planetarium does stargazing tours that are much more organized, more professional and more educational. Even with the same challenges of a cloudy sky, they offered enough educational material (with displays of meteorites for example) and several professional grade scopes that allowed us to actually at least see the moon's surface for the few seconds it peaked out. They had some staff presenting and other manning and monitoring the telescopes to set up views.
Abdul was a great tour guide. Very informative and personal. He came around to each group and showed us how to adjust our cameras to ensure we got the best pictures possible. While it was a cloudy night, we were still able to get some good photos.
Abdul was a great guide, trip felt very comfortable and we had everything we needed. Shout to Abdul for the the hospitality.
Our tour guide, Abdul was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He made an already amazing experience even better!
It was one of the best tours I have ever made. The guide, Tim, was very knowledgeable, kind and attentive. I would definitely recommend it!
My daughter and I had a wonderful stargazing experience with Jaradan on Aug 27. Although the tour started with us being a bit anxious as it rained and the sky seemed covered with heavy clouds, it turned around before too long and all the stars emerged all of sudden in the sky and shone very brightly! Moreover, the moon in its eclipsed form right above the tree tops showed up! So, it is really true that the weather is very dynamic in the Rockies just as Jaradan explained. We spent the good 2 hours ish at the lake front admiring the lunar eclipse and observing the moon regain its full-moon shape gradually. The heated chairs, blankets and tiny hand warmers kept us cozy and warm, the hot chocolate was such a thoughtful treat that made me feel heart-warming. Jaradan is knowledgeable, friendly and took good care of us. Thank you for an amazing tour!
Sam is the man! Great experience, sharing about Banff and the sites visited. Loved relaxing with the heated chairs, blanket and hot tea at Two Jack Lake. Definitely worth every moment of the night!
We had a great experience. Our guide went over and beyond to make us comfortable and make the trip enjoyable.
Highly recommended. A must try activity. Staff was great! Jared is our tour guide, he is very knowledgeable and he made sure that we are comfortable during the the tour.
We enjoyed this tour. We had a great look at the night sky in three different locations. Our guide helped us with the night photography on our iPhones. The company provided heated chairs, blankets, and hot drinks. We had a lovely night.
Abdul was a phenomenal guide. We had a great experience and we'd definitely go again.
I haven't seen the Milky Way since I was 12 years old! This tour was everything I had hoped for -- Stunning skies, informative local tour guide, and smooth pickup and delivery back to my Canmore hotel. Our guide, Georgia, provided tripods and showed me how to set my phone for maximum exposure. The pics turned out amazing! Georgia knows her constellations and the pantheon of Greek Gods! Plus, she worked really hard waiting on us hand and foot. Truly one of the nicest, kindest people I've met along the trails.
Guide was professional, friendly and personable. The facilities were mostly as described, telescope instead of telescopes but the rest was as described. While the cloud cover wasnt too bad, it never got dark, just a more perpetual dusk, at least it was still this way at 1:15am when things wrap up. Moonrise/set times and phase should be considered but the guides didnt seem to have a handle on if/when the moon may set while we were out, in this case it didnt. Overall my experience was a tour that both starts and ends too early in the night to really have good quality star gazing experience. You could just take a chair and a blanket and sit at Two Jack Lake yourself and have 90% of the same experience.
Our guide, Georgia, was fantastic. She kept us entertained despite the fact that the smoke obscured our view of the stars. She provided heated seats, bug spray, binoculars, blankets, hot chocolate and used her laser to point out where stars should be, if it weren't smoky. She told us all about the constellations and stories about the area. Had we seen the stars, it would have been an amazing experience.
Due to the smoke from the wildfires there really weren't many stars visible (in reality it probably should have been cancelled). However, our guide, Georgia, was wonderful! And it was a very peaceful experience being at Two Jack's Lake at night.
We absolutely loved the Stargazing tour during our time in Banff. There aren't many places left in the United States that are dark enough to appreciate the night sky so I think this tour is a must do in Banff. It was so special to slow down and spend the night looking into the sky to appreciate how it changes after the sun sets. We saw the Milky Way, multiple shooting stars, satellites, and the international space station. The tour provided heated chairs, hot chocolate, and blankets. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience.
From start to finish our guide, Toby, provided everything for a memorable experience at Lake Moraine. On route we saw elk and 2 black bears from the mini bus, a rare treat! Although the smoke from BC affected the star gazing we still had an amazingly special night. A huge thank you Toby
Georgia and Jourdian were both amazing! The evening started with a hiccup with pick up location but it was handled quickly. The evening started a bit cloudy but cleared up beautifully. We got stunning photos of the milky way. I highly recommend this tour.
An amazing experience and our guide Toby was so knowledgeable, he made sure we were comfortable, warm and well looked after. He went above and beyond to make sure the experience was top notch! Toby was able to show me how to take night time photo's on my phone that looked unreal! Camp chairs, blankets, hand warmers and hot choccies in a thermas cup was provided which made the experience so cosy! We even saw some wildlife on the drive!
We enjoyed our tour—very relaxing and slow paced. Our tour guide was extremely accommodating, making sure everyone was comfortable. He also gave us tips on how to capture the stars with our iPhones—we ended up with amazing photos! We did the private stargazing tour with a small group. The heated seats and hot drinks offered while sitting by the lake was a really nice touch; it made everything feel more cozy.
We loved our Stargazing tour! Our guide, Toby, was so knowledgable, fun, and friendly! We also got to see a baby grizzly and elk on the drive which was a great bonus! Would definitely recommend as you get an unique opportunity to explore a bit of Lake Moraine (without the crowds!) and see some amazing night sky.
Absolutely incredible experience! Abdul was kind, interesting, thoughtful, and an absolute delight. It was a late night, which I wasn’t totally prepared for, but a fantastic experience.
Abdul was fantastic, informative and worked hard to make us comfortable. Good with the animal sitings and we were able to see a bear with 2 cubs!
Pablo and Abdul did a great job! Good information and stories. Attentive to our needs with chairs, blankets and hot chocolate! The clouds hampered our stargazing, but not the trip. Got to see some bighorn sheep and mule deer too!
We really enjoyed this experience, our tour guide Samuel was incredible. He was so friendly and knowledgeable, we learned a lot of history about Banff which was awesome. Stargazing was fun, a little cloudy but no one controls the weather. Heated chairs and hot drinks were a nice touch.
Guide was amazing, he took care of everything for us. Showed us how to get the best pictures for nighttime. Told us about the area and sights to see if we hadn't. Provided was heated chairs, hand warmers, blankets, hot chocolate, binoculares, trípods to take better photos, ipad to show us the stars and constellations. We had a full moon so didn't get to see the stars as well as we would have liked but got some amazing pics of the moon and the scenery around the lake. Would highly recommend this tour.
I loved the experience that my son and I had with our guide, Laura. She was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the mountains and Banff. I also liked that we were able to stop a few places along the way to our destination. One of the least enjoyable moments was staying out there in the cold when there was complete cloud cover. When I say complete, I mean zero breaks in the clouds. At that point we should have left the rock pile . We stayed almost an hour later than we should have. Other than that, the tour was incredible.
We really enjoyed our tour with Pablo. He was full of knowledge and enthusiasm. We didn’t see the Northern Lights but the stargazing was beautiful.
Puntualidad en la hora de recogida, agradable conversación el guía nos explicó todo en español muy claro, la noche no nos acompaño pues estaba nublado, Pero hicimos otras paradas para ver otros atractivos.
