I’m so afraid of heights and I didn’t realize how long the gondola rides were. However, once I got to the top, the views were stunning and I forgot all about my fear of heights. Unless you hike a huge mountain or take a helicopter ride, you won’t see these spectacular views of the Banff area. I gave my experience 4 stars just of how expensive the food was at the restaurants. One restaurant charges $60 whether you eat at their buffet or eat a small plate of food.
What a great experience. The gondola was such a smooth and easy ride, just 8 minutes to the top. Views were incredible and if you want an even more special visit go to the Sky Bistro for lunch or dinner.
This was such a fun experience. It was beautiful. It was truly magnificent. Would totally recommend ! The service was great ! The workers were so friendly ! 10/10.
We had a fantastic experience, both on the gondola ride and the sining at Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen. Staff were friendly, Gondola ride super smooth and fabulous views. The views from the deck were wonderful, taking in the sights from near and far. This is a must do. Food was good, its a buffet, enjoy the views while eating in a non rushed setting.
✨ Absolutely Breathtaking! A Must-Do Banff Experience! 🏔️ The Banff Gondola is nothing short of spectacular! From the moment you begin your journey up Sulphur Mountain, you know you're in for something truly special. As you climb higher, the breathtaking views of the Canadian Rockies unfold before your eyes, revealing a magnificent landscape of towering mountain peaks, endless forests, and the beautiful town of Banff nestled in the valley below. At the summit, the scenery is simply out of this world! Every direction offers another picture-perfect moment, and the panoramic views are enough to leave you speechless. Walking along the mountaintop boardwalk makes you feel as though you're standing on top of the world, surrounded by nature at its most extraordinary. The entire experience is beautifully presented, from the gondola ride itself to the incredible facilities and opportunities to explore at the summit. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a local returning to admire the Rockies, the magic never fades. If you're visiting Banff, put the Banff Gondola at the very top of your must-see list! It's more than just a ride up a mountain; it's an unforgettable experience that captures the heart and soul of the Canadian Rockies. Bring your camera, take a deep breath, and prepare to be amazed. Some views stay with you long after you've left, and this is definitely one of them! ❤️🏔️✨
The process for exchanging the voucher for a gondola ticket was smooth. The line to ride up the mountain moved quickly. It was very windy the day I was there but the views were phenomenal! Even saw a few snow flurries on the way down!
Extremely friendly staff, clean place, excellent views at the top, nice short hiking option, excellent café.
We had an amazing time. So worth the trip!! We enjoyed the sights, roasting marshmallows and hot Apple ciders you can’t get better than that.
The ride To the top takes several minutes. Wonderful views on your way up and down. Amazing views from the 360° deck. Great food options for dining.
Walked up the mountain to save some money as the full cost of the gondola is quite expensive. It was a minor miracle I succeeded - not as fit as the school kids or small dogs! Did not see any bears despite being warned that this was a possibility. Very good views at the top, made even more special because of the effort it took to get there. Was glad to pay for the gondola to get back down!
It was nothing like I expected. So happy my son and I got to experience it. I would go on it again if or when I come back. The ppl were very nice.
This was part of my group tour and it was great. The day we went there was cloud and some smoke in the air so views a bit blocked at times. It was still a great experience. There is plenty to do and see so plan it or you will miss something. Plenty of chipmunks about, please don't feed them. You need about 2 hours min.
A good visit, but very busy with long queues to get the gondola up and then down again. Views from the top were great, with a boardwalk to the top of the mountain. Boardwalk was very icy when we visited, but could hold onto the handrails. Parking is not included, and at $17.50, is very expensive and overpriced, especially as the tickets aren't cheap either. Staff were very helpful even thought they seemed a bit understaffed.
Such a cool experience! We had the gondola to ourselves which was lovely, the staff were all very easy-going and friendly and happy to help. Beautiful views and a very fun ride up the mountain!
The Banff Shuttle included with our tour vouchers was very easy to take from the Banff Train Station. We arrived early and we ended up being the only ones on it in early October. The Gondola area was not crowded and everyone working there were very helpful. The day was a little snowy but that added to the beauty of the mountains. Even though our views were a little compromised, we enjoyed some hot chocolate at the top and the firepits were a welcome touch. All in all, a great experience!
Great Bus ride to the Gondola. Very convenient. Crowded but a great flow along the way. Very comfortable
No problems need to get a an actual ticket for the gondola at the desk before you join the queue, show the pass from viator to the bus driver at banff to get free transfer to and from the gondola, I went first thing and it wasn't busy.
The gondola ride in Banff was absolutely amazing and worth every penny! The views were incredible, with breathtaking scenery in every direction. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. What made the experience even better was the staff. The people inside were very friendly and took the time to educate us about the bears and other local wildlife, which made the experience even more interesting. The staff members helping everyone load into the gondolas were also super nice, welcoming, and helpful. Between the spectacular views and the outstanding customer service, this experience exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend the Banff Gondola to anyone visiting the area.
Go early. The busses start coming mid morning. The views are so beautiful. Seems pricey but it was worth it
Lovely meeting holly @bear Cart. We, Ingrid and Jacky had a lovely chat with her in one of the most wonderful areas in the world. Hello from Rabat Morocco ! Only rénove a star as too many people to queue but you must do it it at least once. It is beautiful. I am very happy with Banff.
This was 92 Canadian dollars, which for the experience was decent value. We purchased ticket directly at the base station, and got in straight away; around 3pm on Oct 13th. The views from the top are stunning, and the wooden walkway to the summit was great. All the staff were super friendly and seen to be enjoying their jobs. This is definitely worth a visit if in town
We arrived well before our allotted reservation time, but the staff easily accommodated us and reset our times. We were there for the first snow of the season and it was SPECTACULAR! You can take the brief hike up a lot of stairs to the observatory deck which is amazing. Overall worth the cost!
I would highly recommend this. Such a beautiful view and lovely scenery. The view of Banff from up above is worth every penny.
A very well run operation and tremendous scenery. We were able to rebook to a later time because I misjudged timing of things we were doing earlier in the day. Rebooking was a breeze. Onboarding is fast and efficient, and the building at the top has everything you could want to do. We spent some time there and then took off to the peak in the national forest for a peaceful experience of the natural beauty. The trail is very accessible with boardwalks and stairs, and a 30 minute easy hike gets you away from most of the crowds. The amount of time at the top was perfect to enjoy both the tourist experience and nature.
Great experience, great views, great value
An expensive gondola ride that takes you to nice boardwalk 1 km in length. At the same time you get your ticket to board the gondola, you also receive a timed ticket to depart the top of the mountain (about 90 minutes later). It is unclear how, or if, that departure ticket is monitored. There are good views of the town of Banff and the Fairmont Banff Hotel and golf course from the peak. There is of course the mandatory gift shop and food service. There is interpretive signage along the boardwalk.
Red/Ron was are driver , great guy, very knowledgeable, and well spoken. Great energy! Knew everyone’s name, made you smile.
Travelers should know that a very nice and scenic view above so be ready with your camera. Anticipate the weather conditions and temperatures and wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Anticipate parking availability otherwise park in the Free parking area close to the Banff Signage and just take the shuttle bus for a free ride
This was a great experience. The views from the top were phenomenal! The view from the gondola were incredible as well!
Very fun trip up the mountain, felt very safe and the view was amazing. Lots to do there and we saw long horn sheep.
My Wife and I wanted to see what the buzz surrounding the Banff Gondola ride. When I say it was the highest climb I have ever made in a gondola... 2,200+ km climb or 7,500ft is a wild ascend. The views from a top are amazing.
Great experience. They manage the line to board the Gondola very effectively going up and coming down. The views at the top are spectacular! We had lunch in the Sky Bistro and it was delicious. Definitely recommend this trip.
Organised like a well oiled machine. This busy attraction ran smoothly and was well worth the money. Staff were polite and friendly despite being rushed off their feet. The trip in the gondola was spectacular but the views from the top were something else, especially if you walk to the weather station. Shops had some nice souvenirs and not silly money.
The gondola ride is a bit pricey but loved the Sky Bistro, boardwalk/hike with the beautiful scenery.
Better than expected. Restaurant was really good. Fun activities. Enjoyed the experience. Was really fun.
Great experience. Would recommend. A must do. Beautiful scenery. Parking available. That’s all I have to say
We enjoyed our experience going up in the Gondola, and were awed by the views! We didnt go into the restaurants, but we ventured into the Gift Shop. If I had to say one thing, souvenirs about Canada should be MADE IN CANADA. We saw a few things that were made in the USA which we would not touch. And, I thought the prices were high.
The Banff Gondola was an amazing experience! The views were absolutely breathtaking, both during the ride up and once we reached the top of Sulphur Mountain. The gondola ride itself offers beautiful panoramic views of Banff and the surrounding mountains, and the scenery gets even more impressive as you reach the summit.
Every minute was worth it—the views were absolutely spectacular! 🌄 We climbed all those stairs to reach the historic building where scientists once studied the weather and rocks. Standing there, surrounded by those incredible views and so much history, was truly unforgettable. What an amazing experience! ✨
Beautiful scenery. Not a long wait in lines as they move quickly. The "stair hike" to the very top was not as bad as expected! Worth the climb.
Loading onto Gondola was fast and efficient. Plenty to see at top. Restaurant, viewing decks, and nice walk to observatory. Clouds started coming in (we had a 9:50am boarding) so views of town, river, and mountains became very limited. We parked in Train station parking lot and took Gondola shuttle to loading area-good idea since it was free parking and when we came back to town we could still walk town without worrying about car or moving it.
We were in Canada, called for price, they said it should be around &280.00. Turned out it was almost $400.00. Called someone at Viator, he was going to research this, and call back within 48 hours!! No one has called back. Very disappointed in our service..
It’s amazing views are beautiful. The ride up was great . Would have been nice to have a drink at the top but they ran out so maybe a little bit better stocked
The ride was great. The views from the top were amazing. We took the extra walk on the walkway and it was well worth the effort. We ate at the restaurant, and was a bit pricey but the food was AMAZING.
Well run team but weather can definitely put a damper on the views. When the clouds break it’s great .
This was a great experience! The views on the way up were beautiful and also on the way down as it was dark but the lights of Banff were so pretty. We did the boardwalk and stairs walk to the lookout which was really nice with great views. We had dinner at the Buffet Restaurant which was delicious and had amazing views from our table. Well worth it!
This was a great experience all round, we got the gondola up in time for sunset, great 360 degree views all round including the view of Banff town, a bit crowded but there is plenty of space of there especially if you walk on the boardwalk to the less crowded areas. there was a band playing, and also they have firepits and we were given marshmallows to toast, which is a nice touch
It was fun to ride the gondola up the steep hillside to the top of the mountain! The view from the top was quite awesome! Dress warmly - it’s cold on the mountain top!
This was an excellent trip from Banff centre. Free bus to get there and what a view when you get to the top.
