Really unique experience and not too strenuous so appropriate for all ages. We really appreciated the central pickup location and amount of time for the broad range of family member needs. Todd was excellent as a guide!

Itinerary
We start the tour by following the gorgeous South Fork Eagle River, pausing to observe the ice-dam formations created by frigid-cold and fast-moving water. Ice crystals appear to grow from the surface of the water, slowing and raising the water level in terrific ways. Just minutes later, we arrive at the base of the magical 25-foot waterfall where you see shimmering icicles, fascinating ice bridges and falling water frozen-in-time. After stocking up a store of photos to show your friends and family, we embark on a short nature walk. You will see the stunning vegetation living within our diverse boreal forests. Towering species such as white spruces, paper birches, and aspens drape the frozen ground below. We will explain the intriguing biological mysteries happening within the lichen, mosses, and trees that surround us. We could also see local wildlife, such as: moose, hare, rodents, and birds. Transportation included in total time of tour: (1 hour transportation & 4 hours hiking)

My wife and I joined the Winter Waterfall Walk, and it was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Matt, was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. He provided snowshoes for us and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe on the trail. The hike through the snowy forest was beautiful, and seeing Barbara Falls partially frozen in winter was truly special. Along the way, Matt shared interesting information about the different plants in the area, which made the hike both educational and enjoyable. Overall, it was a fun and memorable winter adventure, and we highly recommend this tour.
The tour guide met us promptly at the time specified, took us on a gorgeous drive up to the Chugach mountains. Cori was extremely knowledgeable and the hike and the sights are extremely beautiful…Would absolutely recommend.
I highly recommend this experience. The hike was stunning and our guide, Kori, was awesome. She was knowledgeable about the area and the animals and shared lots of interesting information that added to the experience. I appreciated the small group size. If you are in Anchorage, this is a must do!
This was a very fun experience. It was beautiful outside almost like being in a snow globe. The tour guide and informative and interesting.
Cory was an amazing guide! She was very personable and knowledgeable. She made the hike very fun and exciting. The waterfalls, snow and ice over the creek were very beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hike.
A wonderful fun walk. We got taken deep into thw woods and our guide spoke about all the nature in the area! She was fantastic. Only complaint was a small mix up in the booking. But it was quickly resolved and we had a blast!
Every thing was beautiful, the scenery was breathtaking and we enjoyed every bit of that atmosphere, the walk was just right.
10/10 experience! I was so fortunate for Matthew to be the most excellent guide. He was so knowledgeable and gave me the best guided hike I’ve been on! The winter wonderland adventure was so picturesque and all I kept saying was WOW! The hike was a bit challenging, as I have some injuries I’m rehabbing, but I was a champ thru it! We stopped when I needed a mini break and most of those stops were another picture taking moment!
Matt was a wonderful guide! Very knowledgeable and professional. He even brought snow shoes for the hike and hot tea for afterward. Can’t wait to go on more of his tours. The scenery was stunning!
Matt was so awesome! Very knowledgeable and a wonderful guide. He even had snowshoes for me! Such a great experience. Will absolutely sign up for more tours with this company
Beautifull area and beautifull walk. The river and waterfall are amazing. Stopped on the way to look at bears by the side of the road. Would definitely recommend
My family and I are visiting from North Carolina and had the pleasure of hiking with Mike and Eli yesterday and it was an amazing experience! They were both very knowledgeable, not only about the hiking trails, flora and fauna, but also about the local people and history. We felt we were in very capable hands and both of them were so friendly. Both Mike and Eli added to the incredible trip we're having visiting the stunning state of Alaska.
Perfect for winter walk and waterfall would be a great addition if Mike brought his dog. The falls were amazing
Nice experience. Small group of 3. We had fun and thank u driver to take care of us and explained very well Alaska
What a wonderful way to spend a day in Anchorage! Beautiful views, fresh mountain air, and memories that will last a lifetime. Myk is an incredible guide, who is informative and makes you feel like a friend as soon as you meet him!
This was the highlight of our trip so far. So peaceful, stunning views and the waterfall was a beaut. Kyle our guide was really knowledgeable and we could tell he loved what he did and all that he showed us Looking forward to meeting Mike he guide sometime soon as we believe he is also awesome!
Amazing views, fun facts galore about Alazka, wildlife and trivia, and of course, the opportunity to walk alongside and over a half-frozen river to a beautiful waterfall. Mike and Bryce were wonderful guides; make sure you experience this wonderful mini-adventure.
Mike was an amazing tour guide and full of knowledge. We learned so much about the nature surroundings and the glaciers and animals. We had a blast and the hike offers many opportunities for pictures. He also provided the walking sticks and shoe spikes so you are safe l. Definitely recommend
Mike was amazing! I’ll definitely book him as my guide in a heartbeat. I learned so much about different things about plants and animals, that i would have usually overlooked. He was also very helpful w/ iPhone photography, and we had great discussion about everything. He even recommended us to a nice restaurant that has been our favorite so far on this trip. We love you, Mike!!!!
Our guide is Mike, he is very professional and enthusiastic. He told us a lot about plant growth and took pictures for us. This is a highly recommended tour!
Mike was my guide and he was great!! He gave me information on the waterfall, snow, ice and basically pretty much everything I needed to know! He was checking on my temperature to make sure I wasn’t cold and also stopped to take pictures of me and gave me great tips! He was the best and the views were amaaaaazing! It was such a journey to be there, the ice on ice, the water below ice, I mean everything was just great. Definitely 11/10!!
Our instructor Mike was the kindest person ever! He help me, a 67yr old women to put on the spikes and when I fell he rushed to my aide!! Great tour guide and person - made our adventure very successful!
Matt is an awesome guide. Takes his time and makes sure your safe. Very helpful and friendly. Knowledgable and informative. Awesome trails and beautiful scenery. 100% satisfaction.
Mike was a wonderful guide. He is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot about Alaska! He was also very helpful to make sure I warm enough and had ice spikes on my shoes to make it a safer hike. I highly recommend this hike.
If you're in Anchorage in the Fall / Winter months, you should definitely do this winter waterfall walk! Matt was so nice and very informative, telling us about the horticulture and wildlife during our hike. He also took amazing photos of the landscape and of our group. The waterfall this time of year is also gorgeous. I highly recommend!!
Informative, fun and awe inspired scenery, this tour was the perfect way to start our introduction to Alaska. Our guide (sorry I can’t remember his name) was excellent! We learned about flora and fauna along the trail as well as the surrounding mountain ranges and history of the area. After the long cramped plane ride to get here a good stretch of the legs was welcome. We also learned photography tricks with our IPhones…he was really a wealth of knowledge. Amazing tour, thank you!
The guide was really pleasant and informative. The hike was easy and the landscape is astonishing. We had a great experience and recommend it for families.
The winter walk to Barbara Falls was absolutely beautiful! Bryce was our tour guide and he was the best! He made it very memorable.
The day was nice and sunny. I had a great time the views are incredible 😍 I really recommend it if you visit Alaska especially Anchorage
We had a wonderful time hiking - the trail took us though a beautiful wooded area that is actually a rainforest! Guide was very good with our small group - we had a wonderful time - just what we were hoping for
Barbara Waterfall in the Eagle River area in March is beautiful as there is still ice and snow but also plenty of water, the combination making for great pictures. The hike on the light snow covered trail is not strenuous and the more observant hiker will spot plenty to enjoy, even if not quite yet Spring
it was excellent exploration, waterfall is not significant, enjoy in Alaska forest. I strongly recommend
Great hike (walk) in the woods- beside snowy creeks and beautiful mountains! The waterfall was amazing and a walk back to the van.. good company and guide!!
Lovely hike with Leah, she is fantastic and super knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Perfect amount of time. Would absolutely hike again with Go Hike Alaska
Hike was beautiful, the guide was fun and knowledgeable and showed us the best spots to take pictures. I would absolutely do this hike again.
Wonderful hike, fantastic views, great fun. The frozen waterfall is not to be missed. The guide was lovely and went out of his way to be helpful and to take photos for us .
I was soooo glad that I booked this during my trip in Alaska! Matt is so nice and knows a lot about the local things, he took us to explore and hike in the park. The scenery is soooooo beautiful and great! 🥰🥰 I met new friends got nice pictures from Matt and also learned a lot! Believe me you guys must try this one!!
Many “OMG” and “Wow” views from this beautiful hike! Calm and relaxing! Excellent addition to our trip.
I loved the hiking! The views were amazing and I loved that I was able to see some parts of the river frozen and the waterfall was amazing and impressive, and even though it was partially frozen, I loved it cause I got to see the best of both sides, the waterfall with running water and also a part of it frozen. It was just perfect!
Matt and Bryce were excellent and the waterfall was amazing. We had a great group and our guides were flexible with time.
Great experience! Every twist and turn was even better as we continued throughout the trail. We got lucky and spotted some moose too!
This tour was amazing!! We had a fantastic time with Matt, viewing Barbara Falls and going on a nature walk searching for a mythical moose. I would absolutely book another trip with Go Hike Alaska and Matt!
This was a exactly the kind of experience we wanted. Matt was the perfect guide and love how accomodating he was. He took a ton of pictures of the scenery and of everyone on the tour, then shared all the images afterwards. All throughout the hike he'd take time to stop and explain about the native vegetation and species. It was a great balance of taking in the magnificent scenery and educational.
Leah and Isiah were amazing nature guides! They guided us through some very pretty areas of the park. We were able to see a moose and a woodpecker on our hike. We were also able to traverse some ice bridges and make it to this gorgeous overlook. So worth the visit!
Our tour guide Leah was so knowledgeable about the nature and wildlife in the area. Very easy hike, yet the coolest hike I've ever done. If you are considering doing it, you 100% should.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. Waterfall was beautiful & the mountains. Would recommend to anyone.
Our guide was great and the scenery was beautiful! It was really cool to see the waterfall frozen at the surface, but the water flowing behind. Our guide was super knowledgeable about the animal footprints we saw, as well as the plants and also pointed out bear scratches on a tree. It was interesting to learn about the flora and fauna in the area as opposed to just taking pretty pictures.
We took multiple routes, got to take a few different trails, and got beautiful views of Barbara Falls! Pick up and drop off was on time and easy.
Leah did a wonderful job making me comfortable & ready to hike our snowy trail to the waterfall. She pointed out animal tracks, habits & knowledge, as well as the trees, floral & mushrooms. Fun learning on our beautiful morning hike. And, we saw a linx cross the road on our drive back!
