Winter Explorer Flight-seeing Tour From Talkeetna

The TAT family took great care of us, making sure we had a phenomenal winter flight. We are stoked to come fly with them in the summertime!

Amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. We had a great trip thanks to our pilot Richard. We saw amazing Mountain & Glacier View’s and even Denali’s peak. Landed on the Pika Glacier (“Little Switzerland”) to pick up some skiers which was an awesome moment, we’ll never forget.

We had a great time on the flight over Denali. On arrival at the air field, we were briefed on the flight and within 30 minutes we were boarding our aircraft. Talkneeta is about 60 miles from Denali range so the range is also in view in the distance. When we flew through the mountains, the views were outstanding with the snow bringing another dimension to the mountains, valleys and glaciers. We would throughly recommend the adventure and we will return in the future. Everyone at Talkneeta Air Taxi were great to work with!!! 👍👍👍

What a great experience the Winter Explorer Flight-seeing Tour was for our family! We had a bluebird day, with endless views of Mt. Denali and the Alaska range. Our pilot was experienced, kind, and had lots of great information for our group. I really enjoyed seeing well-known peaks like Moose's Tooth, Mt. Huntington, and Broken Tooth. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks to everyone at Talkeetna Air Taxi!

What an amazing experience,Smooth check in, professional and informative pilot. We felt safe at all time. Weather cooperated and were able to land in the glacier which was a dream come true. Spent considerable time in the glacier taking in the views, never felt rushed and got to see up and close the mountains as he flew close to then giving us views from all angles. We definitely want to repeat this experience, probably in a different season and will chose talkeetna Air Taxi again.

We did the winter explorer tour with the glacier landing, and It was amazing! I highly recommend doing a tour with TAT if you're considering it, you won't regret it!

Even though we weren’t able to see Denali that day due to thick clouds not allowing us to fly through them, we did still see the incredible Ruth glacier and the surrounding mountains. Seeing everything from that perspective was so unique and it makes you feel very small, but in a good way. Those glaciers, especially the alpine ones coming down from the mountains like waterfalls were really a sight to behold. Even on the flight back to Talkeetna the winding frozen rivers across the landscape were so beautiful. Our pilot Andy was great and I felt perfectly safe the whole time.

When visiting Talkeetna going on a flightseeing tour is a must, and having selected Talkeetna Air Taxi was an excellent choice. The weather could have not been better. This absolutely magic day yielded grand views of the range, and of course in particular Denali. I travel through Alaska since 2010, and I go on a flightsee every time I visit, and I visit twice a year. It's simply magic, and Talkeetna Air Taxi ensures that every trip is special. Just awesome!!!!!

I’m always a bit hesitant to schedule flightseeing tours (due to an experience many, many years ago) but decided to give it a try again on this trip. I’m so very glad I did!! The views were amazing!! Our pilot was great and I’d fly with him again anytime. He was very conscientious of our wellbeing throughout flight. He pointed out specific areas of interest and details about the glaciers and mountains. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to complete the glacier landing as originally planned. I appreciate the agency’s communication regarding the safety concerns which were communicated with us prior to the flight. It was was a great experience from check-in to chevk-out. Would love to fly with them again if I’m able to return to Alaska. Thanks Talkeetna Air for a great experience!!

A once in a lifetime experience. Definitely the best way to see Denali. Had a glacier landing on Ruth Glacier for about 25 mins which was great. The pilot was excellent and so was all of the staff at the office. Booking was super easy, they were easier to communicate with than the other tour company in the city. I had to move my date once because of a conflict in travel plans, and then I had to move it a second time as I was the only person booked for another trip. They were very easy to accommodate my travel plans.

We really enjoyed our flight! It was a little cloudy in Talkeetna but the mountain was clear. Such an amazing part of our trip! Our pilot Clay was very knowledgeable.

Clay, (the pilot) was very professional and a most excellent pilot as well as tour guide. Highlight of my stay, and I will be telling all my friends that this is a must do on their trip to Alaska! Pictures never do this tour justice! You have to experience it! Russ H.

Best glacier landing experience during the fall season. Visited during October for northern flights but got to know the winter explorer is open. This was once in a life time exp for us

Ok, ladies and gentlemen… this tour is an ABSOLUTE YES during your visit to Alaska. I am not much of a plane trips lover and I was doing this one mainly for my hubby… and I can’t stop thinking about it!! It was one of the most incredible things that I have experienced… We flew in between layers of clouds, we flew into a valley between vertical cliffs and made an incredible U-turn at the end of the valley, we witnessed amazing views during the whole flight… « Wow » is the best description of this experience! Don’t miss it!!

Beautiful, smooth flight to see the Great One, Denali! Loved the flight and expert descriptions of what we were seeing, the climbing base camp and routes to the summit. Very cool to land on a glacier and take off!!! Very well worth its!

I traveled to Alaska last April and my brother recommended a flight seeing tour. He had done this one from Talkeetna and said it was worth every penny. He was right. The views were amazing! We landed on a glacier that is 17k feet above sea level, and the temperature was 20° F. One of the most unique and incredible experiences ever. Our guide was great, he made sure to point out to us all the tallest and most popular peaks around the Denali National Park. On our way back I had the chance to ride shotgun in the cockpit with the pilot.

This was an absolutely amazing experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Talkeetna in the winter. It is truly unforgettable. The Alaska range is indescribably beautiful, and this tour takes you right into the heart of it. The staff at Talkeetna Air Taxi were very welcoming and helpful in ensuring the tour would run as smooth as possible.

It would be hard to overstate how incredible this trip was. My boyfriend (visiting from Massachusetts) and I (living in Kenai, Alaska) keep saying it was the coolest thing we've ever done. Pilot Clay was kind and enthusiastic, and the views were out of this world. Best part was we got to land on the glacier, which we hadn't even signed up for, since the weather was so good. An experience so wonderful it was truly out-of-body. Would pay twice the price ($250) for how good it was. And I definitely recommending going when we did — in the off-season, cold but not too cold, lots of snow on the mountains. 10/10!

We were unable to fly to Denali, after cancelling twice due to weather, and were offered a flight south over the Knik glacier and Prince William Sound. Our pilot put us at ease, and gave us an incredible and smooth flight. We got to see the mountains and glaciers from a new perspective, it was an awesome experience of beautiful terrain and water. Even thought we didn't get to Denali, this was SO worth it!

Leighan, our pilot, was awesome. She's from Fairbanks and has a lot of knowledge about the area and wildlife. The views were fantastic. I've posted some pictures but they don't do justice to the real views. We've gone on multiple trips in the summer with Talkeetna Air, including glacier landings which were equally awesome but our destination to an Iditarod Checkpoint during the race was something we'll never forget. Talkeetna Air didn't an outstanding job from the 1st time we came to south central Alaska and we've loved every trip. We booked the tour in advance so we showed up 30 minutes early as requested and we were quickly checked in. You have to be weighed with everything you're taking with you but no one sees the weight except the person behind the counter. Once everyone was ready we were taken out to an Otter plane and could pick out the seats we wanted. I asked if I could sit in the copilot's seat (because we'd done this before) and got an awesome view! It was about an hour to the Rainy Pass checkpoint but Leighan told us all kinds of interesting facts about the Alaskan range, the various mountains, rivers and wildlife. She found the Iditarod trail and from about 2000' feet followed it and pointed out teams as we went by. It was really cool. It got better after we landed in Rainy Pass. If you're interested in seeing how the Iditarod really works this is absolutely the best thing you can do outside of volunteering and being part of the race yourself. Leighan was helpful in where to go and had us check in at 12:30 to make sure everyone was OK. Seeing the teams come into the Rainy Pass, check in, take care of their dogs, talk to the vets and answer our questions was unbelievably nice. The only thing that could have made the excursion better is if we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this trip (and the glacier landing tours)!
