These sites, you see are absolutely amazing. Our guide, Ben, was really knowledgeable and a great guide.
The scenery was awesome. Gary, the guide, was extremely knowledgeable about the area and passed on so much information to the passengers about the flora and fauna of the area, as well as his own personal experiences of living in Alaska. He's a very genuine person, with a great sense of humour.
This was a really fun experience, and our tour guide Melissa was the best!!! She shared so much information, history, fun facts about Alaska and pointed out everything for us to see. I highly recommend asking for her at our guide! Was a small group tour, but we had alot of fun.
They pick you up at the hotel you are staying at, no need to walk in rain or bad weather, the tour guide knew everything about the area
We took the Wildlife and Glaciers with a Walk in the Rainforest Tour, and it was the highlight of our time in Anchorage. With only six people in our group, the excursion felt like a private, personalized experience rather than a crowded commercial tour. Our guide and driver, Brian, was great. He was knowledgeable and kept us entertained. Brian shared local insights during the stunning drive down the Seward Highway. The itinerary was the perfect snapshot of Alaska's best features, but the highlight was visiting the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. We got to see a large brown bear go for a swim in the river. He was so close to us that I was able to capture some incredible pictures using my cell phone. Between the close-up wildlife encounters, the coastal views at Beluga Point, and the beautiful, peaceful walk through the coastal rainforest in Portage Valley, this trip packs everything you want into a perfect half-day pace. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough!
This was great! Our tour guide was knowledgeable you got to see nature, learn history, and see wildlife!
Was a great day. Brad is a pleasant and knowledgeable tour guide. Recommend this tour to anyone in Anchorage
What a wonderful way to start our time in Alaska. Brooks was our guide and provided lots of history and entertaining stories that put everything we were seeing in great context. One cautionary point, which wasn’t an issue for us but could be for others, the walk in the rainforest was about 1.4 miles each way— walking on the snow made it worthwhile though!
Great introduction to Alaska’s beauty and natural wonders. Perfect for first time visitors or visitors who don’t have a lot of time. Convenient start and finish location. The advertised content matched the actual content. The guide was terrific and provided a comprehensive information.
Met at the meeting point, and drove to wilderness conservation. Enjoyed seeing the animals and walking from habitat to habitat.. The animals were being fed so it was perfect opportunity to see them up close.. thank we stopped at many beautiful spots with great views of the volcano and glaciers.. The guide was very knowledgeable about the areas e visited.. Would recommend this.
We had an amazing time on this Alaska excursion! The sightseeing was absolutely breathtaking, and we were even lucky enough to see a wild moose, which made the experience even more memorable. Rezy did a fantastic job as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, shared interesting facts throughout the tour, and made sure we stopped at some truly amazing viewpoints. His enthusiasm and local insight made the trip even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska!
Melissa was awesome!! We learned so much! Missing our embarkation for our cruise we pivoted to 2 land days in Anchorage before meeting ship in Juneau. This trip was just what we needed:)
We were able to see such amazing sites and beautiful animals. Our guide was filled with information that kept us entertained and wanting more.
It is mostly a van tour. It appeared to involve some hiking but that was minimal. The Wildlife Center was good and the scenery was great. Tour company seemed a bit disorganized.
Beautiful travel and great destinations. The driver was knowledgeable and easy to understand and converse with. I recommend this tour.
The pick location was easy to find. The guide was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating to questions and requests. It was great to have an Alaka native providing the tour.
It was a very beautiful day , everything was very nice . Melissa , the knowledge and stories war perfect for this small group . We war so lucky with the weather and seeing animals. I got your tour the google reviews and it was right on. When we stop it was not busy and the price is right also the length is perfect.
Our guide, Melissa, was AMAZING! She was so knowledgeable and the whole experience was exceptional!!
We visited the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center as well Baluga Point & a few other beautiful areas.
Melissa was an amazing tour guide! She was so kind, patient and knowledgeable. We loved seeing the sights and hearing the lore of each landmark as well as learning historical facts about Alaska.
amazing day perfect weather Gary was a brilliant guide very goid knowledge well organised took photos for you if needed and would recommenf
Gary provided an excellent tour of the Turnagain Arm and Wildlife Center. He was accommodating of the needs of our group and exceptionally knowledgeable about Alaska in general and visited sites in particular. A lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Well worth the time and really gives you a great perspective. Our guide Melissa a native Alaskan from Nome really was amazing.
This excursion occurred on a cold rainy day, so we weren’t able to take full advantage of the wildlife conservation visit as expected. Further, there seemed to be no itinerary or back up plan regarding what activities could be substituted in the event of bad weather. While amiable enough, the driver & tour guide team (which would be switched out for a different individual driver/tour guide & vehicle) were not well organized. The were no call outs of the sites that we were passing. The individual driver/tour guide was better, providing context to what we were seeing. Later, he pointed out a nesting eagle and pulled the van over for us to see/photograph it. Overall, this excursion was underwhelming, the most disappointing of any Viator trip I’ve ever experienced.
Our tour was completely disorganized. They combined several tours together and people were shuffled between different buses. We had to keep asking about what was happening next and we didn't even do the complete tour; instead, they did other irrelevant stops just to fill the minimal time. Such a disappointment!
Tour was unorganized; combined multiple tours together and people were shuffled between different buses. We didn’t even do the entire tour, substitution stops were done to fill gaps. Disappointing!
I had a great experience seeing Alaskan wildlife and beautiful views of the landscape.
dude idek where to even start, lowkey came rlly early because I wanted to walk around downtown for a bit which was cool and sat down in a cute little cafe shop and got a banana bread from a cool girl named Chloe(also who let me use her charger for my dying phone THANK UU). Met my tour guide (Rezy), I’m socially an awkward person but they made me feel rlly comfortable and made me laugh as well(felt like talking to a friend rather than a stranger I js met). Some of the travel areas were closed or not a lot of animals were out (due to weather?idk)but tbh I had a rlly good time js talking abt jokes and what makes Alaska different. And Rezy rlly educated me on glaciers and other stuff I had no clue abt 🤣. 2nd day on my trip out in Alaska and made my week js going on this tour guide:) 10/10 would do it again. If u love sightseeing and having a good conversation with someone, highly recommend 👍
Great way to spend the afternoon in Anchorage if you wanna get out of the city. Melissa was absolutely fantastic!
Such an amazing experience. Melissa the tour guide was super kind. 100% recommend!!
Amazing experience! Melissa was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip.
March is still cold and wintery, so we didn't get to see the warmer weather stuff but this was a day well spent. The Seward Highway was beautiful with mountains on each side. We saw dall sheep along the cliffs, bald eagles and once at the refuge center, much more of Alaska's wildlife. Melissa was a great guide, sharing her Eskimo roots and routines. Very fun way to experience Alaska in March.
The guide was very knowledgeable and drove safely. It was a nice experience and I got to see a lot of different animals.
The scenery and wildlife viewing was wonderful, and Melissa was a terrific guide! However, the title is a bit misleading. There were no glaciers or rainforest.
Winter is not the time for this tour. I discovered after the fact that visitors who took the tour in other seasons saw much more than we did. The view at turnagain was beautiful, then it was downhill from there on. It was very windy and cold at the wildlife conservation area. To our tour guide’s credit, she tried desperately to find a bear for us. The bison were too far away to view well and the other animals were mostly hunkered down although the wolves and coyotes were active. We didn’t tour the rain forest, skipped it entirely. Our tour guide’s said that it was too dangerous because moose retreat to the forest when it’s cold. We drove to Portage Road to view glaciers. We only saw one very tiny piece of a glacier. I understand climate change has shown the reduction of glaciers in the area, but why didn’t we try to view the other glaciers listed? I would not take this tour again nor recommend it because of this experience.
I never leave a bad review, but our experience today warrants one. Our trip to the Wildlife Conservation Center with walk in the rainforest was miserable. The van was incredibly uncomfortable. It was freezing in the van - all the windows frosted over on the inside where the passengers sat frozen. It never warmed up in the van. In the back of the van, where we sat, it felt as though the was a hole somewhere near the floor that let the freezing cold from outside inside. Our feet were frozen even with foot warmers. We sat with our coats and mittens on and were still cold. It was the most miserable 3 hours we've spent ever. We could not even see anything because the windows were completely frosted over. The guide/driver casually said you just need to wipe the windows when we first said we could not see. It is impossible to see out frosted windows. We were forced to scrape the windows with credit cards and they promptly froze over again. I strongly recommend that the van gets serviced and I suggest removing at least one row of seats. I am 5' tall and my knees barely fit without hitting the seat in front of me. It was very cramped. You would think that given how cramped we were, the van would warm up just from body heat, but we did not. There had to be air from outside coming in to keep us so cold in such tight quarters. We did get to see the animals at the Wildlife center, however we never even heard about the rainforest. There was no mention of it at all. No mention of glaciers either. We stopped by the side of the road to take a couple of pictures twice and we got to walk on Portage Lake. That was it. The rest of the time we sat shivering in the bus. In addition, the guide sat up front and chatted/flirted with one passenger the entire time (even asked for her phone number at the end of the tour). We got minimal information.
The heater in the van did not work. The windows were frozen on the inside and we could not see anything. We were miserable the entire trip. The driver did not tell us anything. This was the absolutely worse Viator tour I have ever experienced.
Did this tour with my friends this winter (December) and had a blast. Melissa was our guide and was very friendly and informative during the tour. The conservation was incredible and we saw so many animals out and about in the snow. We made 4 stops with fantastic views (great pics) and got back around sunset. The overall experience was great and gave us something to do with the limited sunlight in winter.
Perfect! The tour girl was very nice! Amazing views, wonderful moments! Alaska is a great place to visit!
Subject: Request for Refund and Compensation – Wildlife Conservation Center Tour, Nov 4, 2025 This feels like a clear case of misrepresentation. We purchased tickets for a package specifically to visit the Wildlife Conservation Center in Anchorage, Alaska on November 4th, 2025. However, upon arrival, we were informed that the center is closed on Tuesdays and were instead redirected to a zoo. Seriously? Did we pay $119 per person just to visit a zoo? There were two separate groups on that day, and we could visibly see the frustration on everyone’s faces. To be clear, we have no complaints about our driver and guide, Malaysia—she was courteous and handled the situation with professionalism and grace. If the company acknowledges this scheduling oversight, the responsible course of action would be to refund the relevant portion of the package and offer compensation for the inconvenience.
It was great to see the wildlife at the conservation center. The walk through the rain forest was short and easy. It was difficult to see the glacier across Portage lake because of the rain and clouds. On a Sunday it would be amazing. Melissa our guide was excellent, she shared a lot about how she and her family hunt, fish and prepare for the winter. I learned a lot.
The one rainy day of our entire 10-day trip but driver/guide Matt did everything he could to mitigate, including having little squeegees to wipe down fogged windows in the van. He talked the entire way out to Turnagain Arm and most of the way back, and is a fountain of knowledge. The Conservation Center is so well done, and Matt knew how to best time our arrival/viewing to best see the animals.
Our first tour was canceled so we were put on this tour and I would have to say that what a GREAT tour it was! Our tour guide,Melissa, was outstanding and she gave us SOOO much information on Alaska and the surrounding area. We saw wildlife and the Conservation was so much fun. Highly recommend this tour. A++++
It was a great experience specially out guide and bus driver AMA was a great lovable character and she did give us great information regarding the glacier / the waterfall trail / along with whales But what was amazing was that she was always smiling and answering any questions we asked The whale watching was a great experience we had forgotten out binoculars at ship but the boat had a few binoculars so that made our day We got what we expected So it was a great experience
Had a blast even though the rain was pouring. Had a great guide that had lots of information. I had a knee injury and the driver helped me with some special ointment that helped a lot. Had a great time and hope to make it back again someday.
It was worth a trip Our guide Malesa extremely please t and good human made is feel at home She answered all our queries with a smile Her passion for wildlife and adventure is unbelievable So all in all a great experience
I booked one of these tours but can tell you that they are not reputable company to work with! They don't stand by their word. A representative of this tour operator called me the afternoon before the tour was scheduled to operate (while I was in flight to Alaska and under 24 hours of the scheduled departure) and said that the 10 AM departure was not operating. He offered me a later departure time or the next day, neither of which I could take advantage of because of previous made reservations and plans. He said I would be refunded. Assuming that this was the end of it, I quickly made other plans online. A second voicemail arrived later saying they had put me on the 9 am departure. Well, of course, I said that we had could not accept this change as I had made other plans based on the previous phone conversation. I told them this and left detailed voice messages with both the main office and agent. I called twice, but could not get through to a real person. I assumed that the refund was being processed as is always done when I book tours with Trip Advisor or Viator. But no, they are refusing to refund my money because I didn't accept the alternative choice. This is outrageous.
I think this was the best tour of a 10 day trip!! Matthew was a superb guide. His knowledge of the area was extensive and that information was delivered with mix of humor.
It was a wonderful tour. Well done. Lots to see. Matthew was a terrific guide. I would take this tour again
