Itinerary
As our home base, Fairbanks is one of the best locations in the world for Northern Lights viewing — located directly under the Aurora Oval. Each night, our SkyChase™ tour departs from Fairbanks and uses the Lights-for-Life™ Formula to determine the optimal location outside the city for clear skies and strong activity.
Murphy Dome is one of the highest accessible points in the Fairbanks area and occasionally used on clear-sky nights for its panoramic views and low light pollution. It’s a prime example of the remote high-elevation locations our team accesses while chasing the Aurora.
While not our final destination, North Pole, Alaska is located along our route and adds charm to the adventure. Guests love passing Santa Claus House and seeing this quirky, festive town en route to darker skies.
Chena Hot Springs region is often considered when skies to the east are favorable. These peaceful, forested areas offer a quiet backdrop for Northern Lights viewing with excellent visibility when cloud trends push us in that direction.
c, northeast of Fairbanks, is one of the elevated points we use on select Aurora nights. When conditions are right, it offers excellent visibility and sweeping skies, especially during high activity nights.
While not a nightly destination, Denali National Park is visible on rare clear-sky nights from certain elevated viewpoints. Guests occasionally glimpse the Alaska Range from afar, especially during strong Aurora activity. This region highlights the vast scope of Alaska’s night sky and our commitment to chasing the most breathtaking views whenever possible.
This historical stop marks the first major gold discovery in Alaska and is located along one of the routes we sometimes take while chasing clear skies. Though we typically pass by, it showcases our access to remote, scenic locations far from city lights. It’s a meaningful part of the Alaskan landscape and history.
The Chena area is one of many regions we travel toward when skies are favorable. It offers forested backdrops, river reflections, and lower light pollution — making it a frequent route on strong Aurora nights. This region represents one of many weather-based destination options included in our flexible SkyChase™ route strategy.
One of many high-elevation stops that we utilize on clear-sky nights for its vast visibility and iconic Alaska scenery. Our flexible route often includes this point or others nearby when it offers cloud-free conditions and great Aurora potential. We use dozens of pre-approved locations in all directions based on real-time sky data.
The Two Rivers and Pleasant Valley region is often considered when skies to the east are favorable. These peaceful, forested areas offer a quiet backdrop for Northern Lights viewing with excellent visibility when cloud trends push us in that direction.
Ester Dome is a frequent direction for clear-sky nights. Its elevation, low light pollution, and distance from city glow make it a strong candidate in our flexible SkyChase™ route system.
On nights with clearing trends to the west, we may head toward the Nenana Hills region, exploring lesser-known sites that deliver expansive skies and beautiful terrain far from city lights.

Best experience ever! We went two nights in a row! The drivers and the guides were fantastic. Very professional and safe. The camp fire and snacks and warm drinks was so fun! Would highly recommend! Your guide from Boston was so fun and knowledgeable!
Tony was exceptional—he worked very hard to make sure we could see the Aurora Borealis. He was tenacious, friendly, informative, and charming. This was the best part of our trip—can’t recommend it enough. Brayden was also very informative, courteous, and funny. He worked very hard to make sure we were safe and comfortable. They’re a great duo. When we come back, we’ll ask for them specifically.
Aurora in Alaska is a fantastic adventure. Dre, our guide, was excellent. Dress warm and go.
If I could give Aurora in Alaska more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! WOW! I honestly don’t have enough words to describe how incredible this experience was. It exceeded every expectation we had, not only because of the Northern Lights, but because of the amazing people and the way they treated our family. We traveled to Alaska to celebrate our twins’ 12th birthday, and they made this adventure even more special! They picked us up right at our Airbnb and dropped us off afterward, making everything so easy and comfortable. The entire night felt like a treasure hunt! Our guide knew Fairbanks and its surroundings incredibly well and was determined to find the Northern Lights for us. At one point, we stopped in the middle of nowhere, almost like camping in the wilderness. The kids absolutely loved it! We had hot chocolate, enjoyed the adventure, and made wonderful memories together. The visibility wasn’t great that night, and we could barely see the aurora. We thought our adventure was coming to an end, but on our way back, our guide decided to make one more stop. And that’s when the magic happened! We finally saw the Northern Lights, and it was absolutely breathtaking! What made this experience so unforgettable wasn’t just seeing the aurora. It was the dedication, kindness, patience, and genuine effort to make our night special. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate such an important family trip. Our children had the time of their lives, and these are memories we will treasure forever. If I could give 10 stars, I would give 20! Thank you, Aurora in Alaska, for an absolutely magical and unforgettable experience. We recommend you wholeheartedly!
Wonderful experience! We felt safe the whole night, the guide knew exactly where to go, and we saw the northern lights. A bucket-list moment. Highly recommend!
We had a great time during our tour. Our expert guide Andrew was very helpful.
Our guide was absolutely phenomenal and retused to give up despite a terrible, completely overcast forecast on our final night. Instead of calling it off, they expertly used live satellite data to hunt down a rare clearing in the clouds. Thanks to their relentless effort and expertise, we witnessed a spectacular, fast-moving aurora display when we thought all hope was lost.

Excellent guides. Friendly, courteous on very chilly night and atmosphere warm and inviting. The absolute show stopper was area they chose was stunning and the solar burst did not fail with a stunning dancing Aurora right above our heads!
Everything went so smoothly from the pickup to the drop off. Andrew was great. He gave us so many interesting tidbits about the Auroras and Alaska in general. The entire crew was very concerned about our comfort and kept us informed when there was activity. They offered many tips on how to get the best pictures with cameras and on our phones. It was nice that they had tripods for whoever needed them. The hot drinks came in handy but I wasn’t hungry enough to try the reindeer sausage. We went to 3 different areas and the sightings and pictures were amazing. It’s definitely cold so dress in layers and don’t forget your hand and toe warmers.
With a big cloud ceiling coming fast on the night we set off early around 8pm and thanks to the great decision and efficient communications we saw amazing colorful Auroras at two places on that evening! Andre is our tour guide and he is very friendly and professional, setting the camp for us and taking us al lot of great photos, and most important, finding us the gorgeous Aurora! It’s so beautiful you can see them dancing from your naked eyes, even the pictures taken from my IPhone are looking unreal! We were so lucky to be with this tour on the night of Oct. 3rd. Highly recommended!
The crew were very friendly and helpful, doing the most to help us have a comfortable and memorable experience. Even though we didn't see the lights (bummer- but never guaranteed) , they made the most of it.
We had an amazing experience with our aurora hunter! He was incredibly kind, professional, and knowledgeable. He really knew where to go and worked hard to help us find the best conditions. Thanks to him, we successfully saw the Northern Lights, which made our trip so special and unforgettable. He was also very patient and friendly throughout the whole experience. You can tell he genuinely cares about helping his guests see the aurora. Highly recommend him to anyone visiting Fairbanks and hoping to see the Northern Lights!
Absolutely amazing. We saw the northern lights dancing throughout the skies with the naked eye. Our guide was clear that we might miss them because of cloud coverage and picked us up early but instead we saw them all night long. Pretty incredible experience. Our guide went out of their way to make sure we had the best opportunities to the see the lights! Highly recommend!
It was a really nice experience. It was cloudy, so northern lights were not visible but we gathered around the fire and drank coffee, hot chocolate and mingle. I had a great time! The guides are awesome!!
I could not see the lights, it was cloudy. We knew it was going to be a hit or miss. The guides were fantastic. They tried everything they could to find a pocket opening up. The experience was really nice. I got to mingle around the fire and meet different people, have delicious Alaska coffee and hot chocolate.
Andre and Zeke helped us with a lifetime dream of seeing the northern lights which coincided with our 55th wedding anniversary! It was amazing! They took really good care of us! We enjoyed ourselves! Thank you Andre and Zeke!
We had the most magical night with great visibility and colors. The tour members were so fine and friendly. We had fire pits and chairs around it with hot beverages and good rain deer sausages. The best experience ever.
This excursion was worth every penny. The weather was not great on the day of our planned outing and early afternoon we received a text from Aurora telling us we had the option of canceling for a full refund or we could ride along with them and take a chance. We went and boy am I glad! Our guide Andrew pick us up at our hotel in a brand new Mercedes van promptly at 9:00. We received a text when he arrived. There were 7 of us in the van - Andrew, his assistant up frontal, a couple and their adult daughter in middle row and me and my friend in the back row. The van was very clean and comfortable. We drove to North Pole AK and met another van which we followed. We got out to take pictures of the Christmas store while we waited which was all decorated up for Christmas. We started driving and Andrew narrated while we rode. He’s an amazing source of AK info. We stopped a few times and they checked for the Northern Lights with their equipment but no luck so we moved on. Stopped at a gas station for bathroom. It was very clean. The guides were determined we would find the lights. Eventually we pulled into a state park by a lake and they found them! It was AMAZING!! Worth the drive for sure. They set up their camera equipment and took lots of pictures with each person in front of the lights. They’d move the camera if a better view came up. We could see the light movement and pillars of light so well. The colors were harder to see with naked eye but looked amazing through their camera. The guides helped people set their camera settings so they could capture the lights. They set up a bonfire and set out chairs, coffee, hot tea , hot chocolate, marshmallows and reindeer hot dogs (they were yummy!) to roast. So fun! The guides smelled a moose and were very proactive about looking for it to make sure we were safe. It had wandered down to the lake. They packed us up and drove back. In all we drove 3.5 hours out of Fairbanks to get to see the lights. It was a late night as they dropped us back at hotel at 5:30am. We received a text a few days later with link to all the pictures. One thing… their phone number is answered by a machine and you would get a text later. This made communication a little slow.
Do not miss this experience! By far, this was amazing. This company will find the best places to view the Northern Lights. They also have a very nice trailer, and they serve hot drinks. It also has an area to warm up. The stars were incredible. We could see the Milky Way and so many constellations. The Northern Lights were spectacular, and we even saw a small meteorite fall. My friend and I were so glad we took this tour.
What an amazing experience!! We almost missed them, but Tony and Andrew found a break in the clouds and we were in!! Spectacular northern lights dancing in the sky! This completed our Alaska adventure!!
Andrew and his assistant are very knowledgeable. They went out of their way to show us some moose on the road. Even when the probability to see the boriales was low, Andrew did the impossible until he found a spot to see them. Even as the van had a tire that was losing air Andrew was up front with it and managed the situation perfectly. We never felt nervous or in danger with this situation. This was a great experience. I will recommend everyone to do this tour. They are great people, knowledgeable, honest and upfront with everything. I can’t wait to receive the photos that were taken. Thank you to the whole team for all the updates and the experience! You are the best!
Because of the weather the trip is canceled i am waiting for the full refund promised I haven’t heard back from the operator
We had an absolutely incredible experience with Sky Chase, thanks to Tony and Andrew. They worked unbelievably hard all night long, driving us for hours and making stop after stop, constantly searching for that perfect opening in the sky. What made the experience even more special was getting to know them along the way. They shared fascinating stories about their lives, growing up and living in Alaska and their experiences over the many years they’ve called Alaska home. They aliso went above and beyond to make us a true Alaskan experience, they treated us with hot chocolate, spiced hot apple cider and even reindeer hot dogs! The weather wasn’t cooperating, we were getting more and more discouraged as the hours passed. But Tony and Andrew simply would not give up. They kept checking the equipment, moving around and searching for an opening in the clouds. Finally around 3:30am they found a brake in the clouds- and there it was: the Aurora Borealis❤️❤️❤️❤️ That was absolutely magical! Thank you Tony and Andrew for your incredible dedication, patience and for working so hard to make our night unforgettable! If you’re considering an aurora tour in Alaska, we highly recommend Sky Chase and specially Tony and Andrew ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Rainy and foggy whole day with forecast low to unlikely for Aurora - we still took the tour and what a show we got! Tony is amazing and with Zeke and him they also put out hospitality and make it magical. High end pictures thrown in. Highly recommended.
We had an excellent Northern Lights experience. The weather when we drove into Fairbanks that evening was pretty bad, so we were not optimistic, but the guides worked very hard to find a good viewing spot and after 2 hours of driving we were pleasantly surprised to get a good viewing. They were great in taking cool pics and serving sausage and drinks by the fire! Then on way back to town, they found even better viewing spot that we were able to experience. We didn't get back to rental house until 5am, but it was worth the all nighter!
This tour was expensive but worth every penny! The guides find the lights and every on a non guarantee night because there was a lot of cloud coverage they found the lights in 3 different spots. It was amazing!
Amazing experience- Zeke, Tony and the gang were fabulous!! We had the BEST time and came away with spectacular photos and memories. We saw the longest shooting star too!
This is a fabulous experience with seasoned guides that go above and beyond to provide you with a Fairbanks Alaskan Northern Lights Experience! Their team has fabulous communication concerning weather conditions and I was able to reschedule for another night and got an even better Aurora the last night! Great communication. Great guides. Great experience. Be patient & be prepared :) My advice: if you’re here to see northern lights - stay 3 nights.
An incredibly special experience with an amazing team. Our night with Aurora in Alaska on 29 August 2026 was something I will treasure forever. The entire team was so kind, caring and professional, and they went above and beyond to make the evening truly unforgettable. A very special thank you to Tony, who showed me such incredible patience, care, love and understanding during what was a very emotional and personal night for me. His kindness will stay with me forever. The Northern Lights were absolutely breathtaking, but it was the people and the way they cared for us that made the experience so meaningful. I couldn’t recommend Aurora in Alaska highly enough. ❤️💚🌌🇦🇺
These guys worked hard! We were very impressed with their set up. Unfortunately we didn’t have a great night for viewing but they did everything they could to make the wait pleasant. And, they kept trying, stopping on the way back to town to check the sky. On the final stop, we saw the aurora! Not a lot but enough to check the box. Really appreciate the extra effort to do everything they could to give us an opportunity to see the lights. Highly recommend this group!
It was the most amazing adventure! The tour guides were great! So well organized and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour, you will not be disappointed.
Good good service and staff 655
Perfect service and amazing visit World Pass Tour made the whole experience very easy. Fast ticket delivery and helpful support. The Louvre is huge but starting with a smooth entry made a big difference. Would definitely book again.
There is a lot of driving to find the lights if it is cloudy. Overall it was a good experience on a partly cloudy evening. It has been over 3 weeks and we are still waiting for our pictures to arrive via email.
My time in Alaska was coming to an end without seeing the Lights despite various efforts. The kp index dropped to 2 and opportunity seemed null. But, these guys said, "Hold my beer!" The communication was great and tracking told me when to expect them at the hotel. We were picked up and on a mission! Our guide was entertaining and informational during the drive. We arrived at their lodge setup with campfire and hot beverages. Within minutes, someone waved a wand and shouted, "Aloaurora!", unlocking a green wave of energy. Bucket list checked! Our cameras clicking away at the beautiful sight! Kudos also to the lodge crew for maintaining camp and helping with camera settings. I hope it's not a once in a lifetime event. But if it is, it was a great experience I could capture and had professional back up if my pics missed the mark. Highly recommend!!!
I absolutely love it! They were great and the experience was very nice!
This was easily one of the best experiences of my life. I almost didn’t go because of possible fog/cancellation, and that would’ve been a huge mistake. The guide Tony was awesome—you can tell right away he genuinely loves doing this. Super knowledgeable, great attitude, and he made the whole night fun instead of just “another tour.” They had a fire going, reindeer sausages, and both hot and cold drinks, which made it even better while waiting for the lights. And somehow… we ended up with a straight up 10/10 northern lights show. Unreal. Tony put us in the perfect spot and it absolutely paid off. If you’re thinking about booking SkyChase, just do it. Totally worth it.
A friend told us that her photos she took were mostly black and recommended going with a skilled photographer. We took her advice and went on this tour. The photos we were sent post-tour were amazing! It was so nice to be able to enjoy the view knowing a pro was capturing the view for us. The bus was comfortable and the amenities at the site were great. A bathroom, warm-up room complete with cookies, complementary hot drinks, and a campfire with chairs. We also went to the bus a few times to get warmed up as it was kept running and warm. The pick-up was on time, great communication, and enjoyable. I recommend this to anyone wanting great aurora pictures and a comfortable way to view it.
It goes until 2-3 am even if you see the Aurora early on in the evening! Everything is included and they could not make it more comfortable!
We had an unforgettable aurora trip with Skychase. Our guide, Hunter is punctual, kind and made sure we had what we needed throughout the entire trip! The van that we rode is very comfortable, keeping us warm the entire night. The crews are also very welcoming, organized and took great photos of us! Most importantly, having reindeer sausages was one of the highlights!
Professional, kind, provided snacks and hot drinks, wonderful experience!! Definitely a must do !!!!!!!!!
Literally chased the lights! Had a night of full clouds so had to reschedule for next night. Great set up and they were all about making the experience amazing!
The team at Aurora in Alaska were great from booking to our drop off back at the hotel. Their communication the day before and day of were appreciated. With - 6 F temps, always good to know what to expect. Our guide, Tony, was amazing sharing stories of his 20+ years in Alaska. The stop at the Alaska pipeline was unexpected but an amazing quick detour on the way to Base Camp. From the firepits to the warming trailer, to the endless warm beverages (cider, hot chocolate, tea, coffee), the team thought of everything to make the experience comfortable. The excitement when the lights began was palpable. Really, how can you really get used to those views? I would recommend this tour to anyone and would repeat it in heartbeat on a future visit.
These guys are experts!! They took us to a great place for viewing the Northern lights near Birch Lake. They took professional photos, and provided several heated areas to hang out to warm up when it got too cold. We would not have been able to see the Northern lights as vividly or at all without this tour. We tried. We highly recommend this tour!!! I also wanted to say that we had a lot of trouble making it to our tour due to mechanical issues with our first airplane, leading us to be re-routed through Portland and Anchorage. Nicole was absolutely wonderful about working with us to help us join the tour. It also happened to be the best viewing during our entire stay. We are very thankful. This tour was wonderful and the guides are nice people.
Wonderful team! So knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we saw the lights and got the best pictures. You need to do this one at least once in your Alaska trip. Great reindeer sausages and great heated cabin to warm up in between photos.
Overall beautiful Aurora experience with clear skies during our tour and dancing of the Aurora. Price a bit on the higher side but they give food and drinks with mobile lodge and camp fires as promised. Also they have multiple photographers taking photos from different angles and positions. We also had a nice experience with the pick up and drop off. The only hassle for us was one of the photographer missed uploading the photos in the shared link and we had to communicate to and fro multiple times to get the missed photos uploaded.
Our guide Andrew picked us up at the hotel around 10:00 pm. On the way to the site he talked about Alaska, the wildlife, and a number of facts that were fun to learn. We stopped on the way to the camp site and saw the Northern Lights. Once we got to the site there was a mobile lodge with hot coffee and sausages to eat. Around 12:30 am we saw a tremendous amount of activity as the sky lit up. Andrew drove us back around 2:30 am. This was an activity that everyone needs to do. Aurora in Alaska guides helped make this an outstanding excursion.
The guides are excellent - knowledgeable about the aurora phenomenon, highly skilled photographers, and very customer-oriented. They share their photos with you, so you can concentrate on enjoying the moment. The tour will stop at a point of interest along the way. Pickup and drop-off were smooth. The heated trailer, sausages, and snacks round out the experience. Highly recommended.
