Private Ketchikan Halibut And Salmon Fishing Charter

I Work in the coast guard in ketchikan and my family was coming up to visit and wanted to book them a good fishing experience. Safe to say i made the right choice captain Kevin was a great guide we went out for halibut and limited out boat was great all around 10/10 will definitely come back in the summer

The communication skills are the real deal captain is a local Native American fishing was great boat was great can’t complain perfect day

This is a very convenient experience for family’s pickup and drop off right outside the ship. Holding a sign with your name Boat was nice and clean and got put on fish recommend to anyone visiting Ketchikan especially with young ones. Communication was top notch

If I could have a perfect day on the water would be this day Moses was awesome he had a his son with him. He put us on an amazing catch for the day 10/10

We had a gorgeous day on the water and we caught 9 salmon, which they are shipping home. The boat was very nice and our guide, Kevin, was very experienced. I would highly recommend!

We had 6 people but only 2 active rods in the water at any one time . We took turns and had an amazing day but this fell short Of my expectations .

Justin was awesome! Boat was great. Salmon fishing was great! We steadily caught fish ending up with 12 catches in 4 hour tour. Each of the 4 kids caught several. Captain was personable and funny and professional. Better than fishing booked directly through cruise line. Communication was great. Met right off ship and taken directly to boat. Afterwards he offered to dropped us off right next to restaurant he recommended for lunch- which was delicious and short walk back to boat. Highlight experience!

Amazing experience! Justin was our guide and was so much fun. We went halibut and salmon fishing and caught both, along with some rock fish. Easy to walk off the cruise ship and walk with Justin to his boat and on the water fishing right away. He made sure we were back so there was no stress time wise with the ship, and he’s making sure our catch is processed and shipped to us when we get back home. I’m sure all the captains are great in this group but if you want someone who is knowledgeable, patient, teaching, hilarious, gets you on fish and is an overall amazing captain then I would suggest requesting Justin!

This was the best fishing charter I have ever been on. So convenient, professional and fun. We caught a lot of fish and had a great time. Our guide Kevin was great.

In the six hours, we were taken out to a popular spot with 24 other boats to fish for salmon for three hours, only reeling in one pink salmon. As we only had a captain, my husband had to be first mate quite frequently. Without a first mate our lines were often occupied with smaller fish being pulled behind or our bait was gone totally. The second half of our tour was in a different spot where there were only four other boats fishing for halibut, but all we caught were dogfish and one very small halibut we had to throw back. The upside of this was that we did see one pod of Dall’s porpoises. My husband and I were quite disappointed by our lack of catch, given the price of renting an entire boat to ourselves. If given the chance we’d wait and go out with a boat in Seward, Alaska rather than in Ketchikan.

Great experience. We caught lots of fish including king salmon. Captain found all the greatest spots to fish. Highly recommend this experience to everyone.

Captain Justin took great care of us. We were a party of 5, including our 6 year old son. I was a little concerned it works be too long for him, but he had a great time. We stayed warm in spite of the rain. The captain taught us a lot about the fishing industry and kept us engaged for the whole 6 hours. It was a great shared experience for our family!

Our crew was great- very professional but also fun and engaging. Our only complaint was that we didn't catch anything so it was pretty disappointing, but obviously that is not the crew's fault. No one was catching anything out there that day.

Moses was an amazing Captain and guide. He was personable and knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. I can’t say enough positive things about him. I’m guessing you’re going to ask. Did we catch any fish? The answer is no, but no other charters that we spoke with that day (at least six of them) had any luck either. That’s fishing though, no guarantees, even with the best efforts. We did however see plenty of whales and porpoises while we tried. If you do book with this company, request Moses, you’ll be happy you did - even if the fish are elusive.

We had the best day out on the water fishing. Our captain, Justin, was so friendly, interesting, and knowledgeable. The boat was very clean. We saw lots of eagles while moving about. Best part was the big king salmon we brought in. We all want to come back to Ketchikan abd go fishing with Justin. This day far exceeded our expectations. It was awesome!

I was in Ketchikan with my husband and son on 06/02/2026 enjoying the Private Ketchikan Halibut and Salmon excursion below, BR-1350336855 . Reggie and Josh are true fishermen. Their skills were fruitful with my son bringing in a 20#+ king salmon! Reggie answered any questions prior and after the excursion. He even sent me the link to get temporary fishing license and stamps ahead of arrival. I completed the paperwork needed to have the fish shipped back home. The company used for the processing held our fish in the deep freezer to overnight ship on 06/09/2026. And just like clockwork the fish arrived on 06/10/2026. Disappointed with Our Fishing Charter Experience We arrived in Ketchikan on a beautiful, sunny day—perfect weather for a halibut and salmon fishing excursion we had been eagerly anticipating. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. Although I personally didn’t attend due to not feeling well, my husband, mother, and stepfather joined the charter, which was captained by Travis. From the outset, the experience felt disjointed. Instead of greeting guests alongside the other guides at the top of the dock (as you’d expect with a sign bearing our name), Travis had us walk down to meet him near the boat—not a huge issue, but it came across as disorganized and unwelcoming. More concerning was that no safety orientation was provided once onboard. At no point did Travis explain emergency procedures or even indicate where the life jackets were stored—an important oversight. There were three guests on the charter, yet Travis initially rigged up only two rods, and we trolled for an hour without a single bite. Because Travis is not a resident of Alaska, he wasn’t permitted to live bait the hooks—something that might have improved our chances. The atmosphere was unusually quiet, as Travis offered little to no conversation, making the trip feel awkward and disengaged. After about an hour, he finally added a third rod, this one at a shallower depth. My stepfather, an avid fisherman from Minnesota, remarked to my husband that Travis never adjusted the depth of the lines, despite going three hours without any bites. Only once did Travis reel in the lines to confirm that the artificial lures and reflectors were still attached. Eventually, we caught one fish—but upon returning to the dock, we were told it would cost $300 to ship it home. That information would have been helpful at the time of the catch, as we would have opted for catch and release. For a charter that cost $2,100, we expected a much more engaging and professional experience. Based on the reviews we had read, we believe the owner or his son—who also run charters—would have provided a far better outing. Travis simply didn’t seem invested or enthusiastic about guiding, and unfortunately, that showed throughout the trip—at our expense. If you're considering this charter, I strongly recommend requesting the owner or a local guide—not a seasonal hire. We were deeply disappointed, and sadly, this experience ended up being a regret rather than a highlight of our Alaska adventure.

Justin was an amazing guide. Learned a lot about Ketchikan and fishing. We caught halibut. Rockfish, cod, and a massive lingcod. Our family of 5 had a great time and would highly recommend!

Excellent excursion steps off our ship. Kevin was wonderful. Not only did we catch a lot of fish, but we saw plenty of wildlife. This was hands down a highlight of our entire trip. Can’t wait to cook up the fish we caught when we make it home!

Awesome communication from start to finish via email and text with the fishing company. Had a fantastic time with Captain Mike! He was extremely knowledgeable and skilled in the art of fishing. We caught our maximum in halibut in less than 90 minutes. Everyone enjoyed!! Absolutely would do it again!

Capt Jeremiah provided a fun and action filled outing for a bunch of first time anglers including a couple of kids. He put us on Salmon right away and everyone brought fish to the net. The Capt is a real professional and a very likeable person. We hope to be back for more fishing with Jeremiah. It was a memorable experience for all.

i want to start of by saying this charter is extremely organized. from the fishing to the customer service this charter does it right i came up with my parents and brother on a norwegian cruise we didn’t know what we should do in ketchikan until we learned it is the salmon capital of the world we booked ketchikan salmon charter and have no regrets they put on us tons of fish and showed us beautiful scenery. the boats are well kept. thank you to captain mike once again for the amazing time we will be back

Going fishing with this company was a great experience. Our captain was a local and told us all about the town. We caught a good amount of salmon and had to much fun, just exploring. We even saw some killer whales! Highly recommend
