It was a great experience, our guide Patrick, was amazing and very knowledgeable. He took pictures of us and went above and beyond to pick us up from the hotel due to weather instead of waiting for us at the meeting point. The views were just beautiful. Definitely recommend this tour.
Hands down the best tour I’ve ever done
What a wonderful day! Patrick was simply amazing! He was friendly, knowledgeable, respectful, and professional. His photography tips made the experience even more enjoyable, and there wasn’t a single question we had that he couldn’t answer. He even offered to take pictures of us and came up with some fantastic ideas to make our photos extra special. The places he took us were absolutely stunning! We were extremely pleased with Patrick and the entire experience. We would love to have him as our guide again next summer! He truly made our day unforgettable, and we highly recommend him to anyone looking for an amazing experience. “Patrick Went Above and Beyond!”
Excellent day tour. Hunter was a very knowledgeable guide of the area and made the experience one to remember
Great tour! Holly was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and she went above and beyond to provide the best experience.
We had a wonderful experience on our Anchorage Wilderness, Wildlife and Glacier tour. Holly our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and made the entire trip enjoyable all way though it was raining but she made everyone so comfortable. The beautiful scenery, wildlife sightings, and breathtaking glacier views made this experience truly memorable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Anchorage and looking to explore Alaska’s natural beauty! Thanks and good wishes to Holly
While the weather was a bit drizzly, my 89 year old dad and I still had an amazing time. Our guide, Sunshine, was extremely knowledgeable, and showed us a lot of things we otherwise wouldn’t have known about. If we lived closer we would take it again in the Spring!!
My 89yo dad and I had a great time, even though the weather was a bit drizzly, our guide, Sunshine, did an excellent job of showing us the area. We would do it again in the spring if we lived closer.
Thanks, Hunter! What a great day! We wanted a knowledgeable driver to show us the wonders of Alaska around Anchorage. We saw and photographed safe bear encounters, glaciers, the rain forest, and excellent salmon chowder. Terrific day!
While the scenery was beautiful, our driver with PicTours Alaska Tours tailgated other drivers, and looked up some things on his phone while driving, despite telling us there'd been some terrible traffic accidents on the highway between Anchorage and Girdwood. We learned more about the driver's travels to other countries, than he told us about Alaska and the local area. While I recommend going on a wildlife tour, I do not recommend this one with PicTours Alaska. I am sure this driver & guide has led some great tours, he may have been ready for the season to end, he didn't seem to be having a good day.
James is an exceptional guide with great knowledge and experience. We had a great time totally recommend it.
A great experience - highly recommend. Our Guide, Maria was knowledgeable and pleasant. We toured the Turnagain Arm, The Wildlife Sanctuary and saw salmon spawning in a creek. A very pleasant trip. My only suggestion for future travelers is to pack your own lunches if possible. The place that the tour stops for lunch is quite nice and the food is quite good but it was a little too expensive for our budget.
Our cruise ship stopped in Anchorage and our visit was greatly enhanced by your wonderful tour! Our guide Aaron was so knowledgeable and added humor to his presentation that made our time together lots of fun! His enthusiasm conveyed his love of the area and made us love it too!!!
Fog is likely and will obstruct views of the glaciers . That was a big disappointment that I was not aware of until our guide told us when we arrived for our tour.
Sean was a great guide! Very informative and very attentive to the group. We had a great time!
The best thing about this tour was the guide, Patrick. He is very knowledgeable about the area and the history of Alaska and the places that we visited were both on the schedule and little places that he knew about as a local, which added a great dimension to the trip. The bad side of this was Viator, which has atrocious customer service.
Take the window seat! Bald eagles everywhere! The views are gorgeous! the guide, is a photographer, takes photos, you can return with more then selfies! My guide loves his State, his job and is a wealth of info! Great job Aron!
While the scenery is beautiful, our PicTours Alaska guide was tailgating other drivers, and took out his phone while driving, although he mentioned to us there’d been a number of terrible accidents on the highway we were on. We had several other tours during the week with other companies and guides that were different. I would not recommend this tour to others.
BUCKET LIST STUFF! The Portage Glacier Cruise was a lifetime with Calving Aaron was the best tour guide to spend the day with at the 6 hour wildlife experience
Aaron was an AMAZING guide. Our trip would not have been the same had he not been our guide he took us to places that were magical we never would have imagined thank you so much Aaron for the pictures for the great time the entertainment and the knowledge that you gave us hope to come back soon, and by the way...we saw 3 calving falls..that's right 3. Thanks Aaron!
Aaron is an excellent tour guide. He is courteous, professional and quite entertaining. He is knowledgeable about the local geography, culture, language, traditions and history. It is obvious that he cares deeply about giving his guests the best experience possible. Highly recommend!
Anna was our tour guide and did a terrific job on our six-hour tour going down south. We were lucky and had nice weather so got bonus view of Denali at the end. We were a small group of 5 and that made for plenty of room in the van and we were able to see many scenic spots and many animals so lots of photos. My sister and I did not take the cruise in Portage so Anna took us to a place where salmon were spawning. Overall, a very enjoyable tour with knowledgeable guide. Only suggestion would be to talk a little more about the history of the conservation location. We should of asked after walking, but we forgot.
it was a 6 hour tour, there was a fair amount of time on the road. we had the best guide ever. Anna kept up a light commentary going through out , with a wealth of facts, intertwined with little personal anecdotes and stories, making it a truly engaging experience. i had not signed up for the portage glacier cruise, but then i got really wrapped up with all the stories and asked to sing in at the last minute. Anna organized it very efficiently and i am really glad i did the cruise. it was spectacular and well worth it. the best part of the day was the way back. we were a group of 5 and there was a lot of chatter and exchange . it was a clear day and Anna felt our enthusiasm and offered to prolong the tour and take us to Woronzof park. We saw Elk strolling along the road on the way which was way more exhilarating to see, than seeing them in the reserve!!!! we then we get to Woronzof park and we had the most amazing view of Denali. IT WAS SPECTACULAR. It was also so spontaneous and gracious of Anna. she really went above and beyond to make it an absolutely brilliant experience. i definitely recommend this tour and recommend Anna
we have an absolutely excellent day and it was mainly thanks to Anna, our guide she was early , so we started the tour a few minutes earlier she kept a light interesting commentary on throughout, with interesting facts intertwined with personal experiences, making all the information easy to digest and very palatable we were a small group and we all have a lot of questions and she took the time to answer them all, in great detail while adding little anecdotes to make them more interesting i had not planned on going on the portage cruise, but i got really into in all the stories about the receding glaciers, that i asked to be added on at the very last minute and Anna organized it very efficiently. i am so glad i did the portage glacier cruise. it was fantastic the best part of the day was the drive back. There were endless stories about the salmons and the glaciers and the mountain ranges and then she sensed our interest and Anna offered to take us to Woronzof park. it was COMPLETELY improm tu and so spontaneous and really gracious cause it was well over and above what we signed up for. The skies were clear and we had an amazing view of the Denali from Woronzof . We saw ELK on the road side, which was a 100% more exhilerating than seeing them in the reserve. i cannot thank Anna enough for making the experience so amazing. BIG THANK YOU. I highly recommend this tour
A brilliant experience, which includes the wildlife reserve, Portage glacier and multiple other stops on the journey. There are incredible views and great wildlife throughout the trip. Aaron was a very energetic and engaging tour guide. He’s the best guide I have had anywhere in the world up to this point.
Holly was a phenomenal guide. We had an amazing time. Highly recommend!!
Philip was an amazing tour guide, both knowledgeable and entertaining. I was traveling solo but he made us all feel comfortable and enthusiastic to be on such a great adventure. He also shared the awesome pictures he took throughout the day. 10 out of 10 recommend.
Aaron was great 🙌 Very well organized, knowledgeable, enthusiastic. The weather was great. What a beautiful and fun day it was! Thanks again.
Not a huge amount of wildlife- a few stops at the conservation center. The glacier boat ride was awesome!
Our guide Hunter made the tour really fun. Not only was he informative about everything we had questions about, but he had a great sense of humor too. He moved us along yet we had plenty of time to see and absorb the sights. He was very accommodating to each person’s needs and got to know everyone individually. By the end of the tour I felt like I had a new group of friends, learned a lot about Alaska and have some amazing photos to take home. Thanks Hunter!
Aaron was amazing as a tour guide with lots of insights of Alaska. A real nice person!
A brilliant experience, which includes the wildlife reserve, Portage glacier and multiple other stops on the journey. There are incredible views and great wildlife throughout the trip. Aaron was a very energetic and engaging tour guide. He’s the best guide I have had anywhere in the world up to this point.
Driver (host) very knowledgeable and friendly Aaron was his name , everyone seemed to have a nice day and I am sure learned and saw things we wouldn’t have without his efforts!
Arlen was an excellent guide! We saw hundreds of Beluga whales in Cook Inlet, half a dozen mountain goats on the cliff sides, and watching the salmon run was incredible! Aside from the natural sites, a great guide makes all the difference and Arlen was excellent. Highly recommend!
I thought Phillip was the best guide. It was a great trip and I would definitely do it again!
Phillip was an amazing tour guide. I enjoyed every stop and would do it again in a hesrtbeat. I loved the conservation.
We had a wonderful experience with James on a lengthy tour of Turnagain inlet near Anchorage. He provided deep background on all the animals and glaciers that we encountered and introduced us to some amazing forest and stream sites where we could explore nature to its fullest. Overall, it was an excellent way to learn about and observe the great Alaskan wilderness. We would do this tour again in a heartbeat!
Hunter made the trip fun regardless of the weather we were having. We both enjoyed his stories and how involved he was with the group. Was great to learn about more Alaska. 100% recommend !
Our tour guide Hunter showed up on time and for next 6.5 hours he showed us the pristine Alaska. Hunter was very knowledgeable about the area we visited. One thing I noticed he was sensative of making sure that everyone had memorable pictures to take home and he showed me and others how to take memorable pictures, mostly around the Portage Glacier. Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center was a great place to visit.
Our tour to Portage Glacier and the Chugach Mountains with Nina was amazing. Nina was super knowledgeable and an all-around wonderful guide who made the entire day special. She went above and beyond - even got us to see the salmon run. We couldn't have asked for a better experience or a more fantastic guide.
Our guide Arlen is very knowledgeable and patient. Bus was comfortable. It arrived on time. The glacier boat tour was great
This was an amazing excursion. I was literally able to book in under 2 hours before leaving for this experience. Arlen was an incredible tour guide. He was informative, attentive, engaging & humorous. I felt he kept us on time, yet we always seemed to have plenty of time to enjoy the stops. We ran into a traffic stop (accident) at the end of our tour. Arlene remained calm, which in turn kept the group calm. He arrived back safely. I would definitely recommend this tour as well as Arlen as a guide.
What an incredible experience! I have been on many tours and excursions during my travels, but I have to say this was easily one of the best experiences ,and I give so much of the credit to our wonderful tour guide, Arlen. Arlen was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and an excellent driver. He made us feel comfortable throughout the entire trip and shared so much interesting information along the way. You could tell that he genuinely wanted everyone to enjoy the experience. The Alaskan scenery was absolutely breathtaking! We also lucked out with beautiful weather, which made an already amazing day even more memorable. Thank you, Arlen, for making our Alaska adventure so special. If you have the opportunity to take a tour with him, I highly recommend it! This was truly a five-star experience from beginning to end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Words cannot do this experience justice other than WOW! Nina was first class all the way!! We were greeted with such joy and excitement that you couldn’t help but be anxious to see what was in store. She is so knowledgeable and experienced. It’s so refreshing have a guide that not only knows the land, but can speak from first hand being a steward of the wilderness and wildlife. Being a big time angler she is boots on the ground and salt of earth. She speaks with such pride about her love for Alaska and its precious environment. Of course the views are the jewels of the tour but the experience with Nina was the crown! She came prepared with extra jackets, gloves, and hats as the weather can change quickly from land to water once out viewing the glacier. This was a nice touch as some of my family members needed another layer as the wind picked up out to the glacier portion. We brought our 1yr old son with car seat and stroller and she was so accommodating helping us all along the way loading and unloading. She was so patient if we needed extra time to tend to him or get him settled it was such a relief. I would have loved more time on tour as the itinerary is a tight window to truly appreciate all that this tour has to offer, but I felt we got more than I expected and would certainly book with Nina again. Core memory check! Thanks Nina!!
This was an amazing experience. Philip was an amazing your guide. He was not only very knowledgeable, but his love for what he does was very evident. The animals were awesome to see and Philip could tell us their names and stories. The Portage glacier was beautiful and it was very peaceful. The cruise was relaxing. Thank you for a great experience on our first day in Alaska.
Excellent guide, but more a nature experience than a wildlife experience. While bears, moose and other Alaskan animals can’t be guaranteed to be seen in the wild, the refuge center where we saw them and other animals is like going to a zoo. Beautiful scenery however.
Tour was awesome. We saw Dall Sheep, Beluga Whales, and eagles in the wild. We may have seen a brown bear but opinions vary... Sean was great. He's enthusiastic, energetic and knowledgeable. He managed to keep our unruly group of 12 organized. Highly recommend!
Arlen was our tour guide and did an exceptionally fine job of conducting the tour. He was informative and quite knowledgeable about various aspects of the animal life in this area. He answered our probing questions. quite well. Also, he kept us on schedule without our feeling pushed at all. When we did see some rare wildlife like the goat on the side of the mountain, his own excitement was contagious.
Hunter is textbook perfect for gregarious and knowledgeable...
