Unique experience. Got to meet the sled dogs. Guides stopped halfway thru the dog sledding to take pictures for us. Dinner was ok. Dessert was great. Small group @16 people. Pickup was @8pm and drop-off @3:30am. After dinner we waited in the warm yurt for the aurora to appear. The lights gave us a wonderful show.

This was the highlight of my trip. Paul our guide and Ash who ran the dog sled were both Awesome. The owner and his wife cooked and served a great salmon dinner for us. The Aurora this night 3/21/26 was SPECTACULAR dancing in the sky and showing us Beautiful colors. l feel Blessed to have witnessed GOD’S Beautiful Creation. A night l will never forget!! Thank you Paul for the pictures and video you sent me.
I recently had an incredible experience with 1stAlaska Tours in Fairbanks, and I can't recommend them enough! From the moment I booked, they were incredibly reliable, answering all my questions promptly and thoroughly. The tour itself was fantastic, covering everything from exhilarating dog mushing adventures to fascinating town museums. Their knowledge of the area was truly impressive – they shared so many fascinating facts and stories that really brought the landscape to life, especially during our Northern Lights viewing and relaxing time at the hot springs. The dinner was delicious! I especially want to commend our tour guides, Tanner, Josef, and Daniel, for being so knowledgeable, nice, and approachable. They truly made the whole experience so enjoyable. If you're looking for a tour company in Fairbanks that's knowledgeable, reliable, and offers amazing experiences, look no further.
Due to issues with our flight, my friend and I were late getting into Fairbanks and very concerned as to whether we would be able to make this tour. Josh and Chelsea assured us that we would be fine and that we were! Daniel was a friendly and professional tour guide who made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. Our Musher, Ash, was very experienced and made sure we had time to interact with the dogs before our ride, which was a highlight for me. Our dogsled ride was also our introduction to the northern lights and what a breathtaking way to see them. Our dinner was prepared right in the yurt which was kept comfortably warm, a necessity for this Floridian not used to seeing minus signs before the temperature! The food was delicious and we had plenty of time to take in more of the northern lights afterwards. I would highly recommend this tour.
Went to Fairbanks primarily for 2 tours . Ice fishing and the Aurora Dog sledding experience . A bit more challenging as I was flying in Solo and they mostly required at least 2. Fortunately a spot opened . Pickup was promptly made at 8:15pm in a nice warm bus . Did I mention it was -16*..? 3 more stops and then the 30 minute ride to the site . Our meeting place was one of the Yurt’s on the property adjacent to the dogs. Introductions made and then walked over to the dog holding area. Had a chance to walk around , pet, hug ,take pictures of the dogs. So beautiful, energetic and lovable animals . They loved the attention, loved to be pet. . After about 10 minutes or so ready for the sledding . I was in Group 2 ..along with 2 Asian ladies in front. Me was in back in front of the driver . Joked with him saying I was the ballast, we both laughed . Then off we went. At least a 20 minute ride , not just around in a circle . Quite a few turns . Stopped twice so the driver could get out and take photos of us in the sled . Really needed to hold on more difficult if you wanted a pix or video. Too soon ( of course ) the ride ended , we got out back to Yurt for the next group. By this time the ladies was preparing dinner . While waiting they had hot coffee and tea, Hot Chocolate as well. By the time the second group came back dinner was served , and a delicious one it was ..the main course was grilled salmon , Asparagus, with wild rice. Absolutely delicious . My phone battery was crashing but the ladies graciously lent me her charger cable and during dinner recharged hoping to see Lady Aurora. The evening started overcast, but after the dog sled ride the Aurora came out full view. Spectacular sight. Even though it was freezing , kept going i. And out of the yurt to snap away. Our guide , Daniel, stayed outside to take pictures of the guests with Lady Aurora in the background with our cameras resetting making the pix amazing. Then sadly it was time to go. Warmed up the truck , was about 2:30am now -20 * back to the hotel. In short the tour was amazing, many thanks to 1st Alaska Tours . The guides Rob, who I went earlier Ice fishing A dog musher who took the dogs around the track , and Daniel our guide here and resident photographer who helped us set our cameras and took pictures of us with Aurora in the background. Both excellent guides . Would I go again?? Most definitely, even if Ms Aurora didn’t show her beautiful face . It was a first class tour with two great guides Rides. Thanks guys Rob and Daniel two great guides . And a thanks to Chelsea for her help Of course Bear, Rob’s dog and companion
This tour was recommended to us by our hotel. From the minute we were picked up by Daniel to the minute we were dropped off it was above and beyond. Daniel was so informative and kind. The dog sledding was fun especially because we saw the aurora while on the sled. Ash grabbed pictures and video for us so our hands could stay warm in the below zero temps. The salmon dinner Emma prepared was delicious in the yurt. The compost bathroom was clean. We learned so much and the aurora came out for us in full force. Even if it didn’t, the dog sledding and dinner was worth it. Highly recommend our tour and this company is top notch! Ask for Daniel!
It honestly surpassed my expectations, not only because we were lucky enough to see the aurora while sledding and after, but because the guides really appreciate the visitors and they love the dogs and what they do. Daniel was a sweetheart and the rest of the team was great and everyone took excellent care of us. The lead musher seems like a fascinating guy and it would be great to know more about him. And the dogs, of course, are amazing little beings who can't wait to run on the trail. Lovely cook and dinner! Great place, good people, and very special pups. Thank you!
Awesome experience ! My sister injured her ankle before the tour and the tour guide Daniel was able to carry her in and out the vehicle so she can still enjoy seeing the Aurora and the delicious Alaska salmon dinner. All the staff are very professional and friendly !
This was our favorite tour in Alaska (we went on 4). We went in February 2026. The mushers were very knowledgeable and kind. The dogs were awesome, we got to pet them. The sled was very comfortable. The dinner was nice. It was a great location to see the Aurora Borealis as well! Bring a tripod to take better pictures. The staff was excellent! Highly recommend!
My 2nd night with 1st Alaska tours. Our guide was George for this adventure. He was wonderful!! We had a diverse group. George was helpful, patient, and as excited as we were. He seemed to genuinely enjoy watching us discover the beauty of the lights. Oh, the dogs!!! The dogs were so an incredible experience by themselves. If I get to come back I will definitely use 1st Alaska again. All most forgot, the salmon dinner was better than any gourmet meal I've had
this tour was fantastic!! we got to learn about some of the mushers and met some of the doggies that take part in the dog sledding! paul was the best tour guide ever, making sure we were staying warm, taking pictures for us, and looking out into the night sky and letting us know when the aurora was out. paul was very knowledgable and friendly and really knows his stuff about the aurora which we appreciated. our cook, i believe emma? was super nice and cooked a very delicious homecooked meal and our mushers were very great as well. recommend to layer up ALOTTTT because the nighttime dog mushing was very fun but also very cold… brrr
Tanner Ash & Emma were the best!! Saw the northern lights, food was amazing & dog sledding so fun. 100% recommend doing this tour on your trip
Great staff and very impressed with the dedication and passion to their jobs. Impressed with the history of their dogs and this crate.
Josh and Paul were great. Easy to reserve. Timely pickup for the event at our hotel. Paul was entertaining and braved -30s while we were warm in the yurt to be sure we didn’t miss any of the northern lights. Dinner by Emma was fantastic.- far exceeded our expectations
We very much enjoyed this activity. All staff was helpful and worked hard to ensure we had great time....and the Northern Lights cooperated!
We went on this dog sled and dinner aurora trip. We had a blast, we were able to interact with the dogs which all were very nice. The sled trip was enjoyable and got some nice pictures as well. Would recommend!
This had to be the best excursion of our trip. To start, Paul was our guide. The guide is key to these excursions, and Paul was absolutely amazing. He displayed immense pride and passion for what he does. His knowledge, passion, information, and service were clearly on display. Paul arrived a few minutes early, and we began our trek to Murphy Dome. The ride was short, and Paul kept us engaged with tidbits on Fairbanks and the Aurora. Upon our arrival, we met Jeremy, our sledder for the evening. He was great as well. And he introduced us to the stars of the show, the dogs. They were all friendly and playful. We had a great interactive experience with them while Jeremy prepped the sled for departure. As we were leaving on the sled tour, the northern lights started to come out. It was great to be on the sled with the lights overhead. The dogs kept us moving at a brisk pace, and the ride was smooth. After an amazing sled tour through the woods, we arrived back at our yurt. Just as we said goodbye to the dogs, the Aurora exploded into a beautiful light show, one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. We knew it was good because the entire staff stopped to take it in with us. After the main event, we headed inside for a great dinner. Our chef was great. I have to apologize because I didn't get her name, but the food was top notch. Paul was attentive to our needs during the light show, personally making sure cameras were at the right setting and everyone had a chance to get a pic with the Aurora behind them. He even took Aurora pictures of his own while we were on the sled tour and shared them, so everybody had pictures. The entire team was very knowledgeable and professional. It made for an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend this tour.
Paul was an excellent guide. He and the rest of his crew made this trip feel like we were invited into the home of family who shared with us a fabulous meal and many stories of their experiences in Fairbanks. From the dog sled ride to the meal to the lights display this tour exceeded my expectations!
Our group of 14 had a wonderful time on our Dog Sledding/Dinner/Aurora Lights tour! We couldn't have asked for any better experience than the one we had. Josh, our main guide/driver, was right on time at both pick-up points for our group. He was entertaining, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. We were driven to our private yurt, and given a brief introduction to the events of the night, to the yurt/facilities, and an introduction to Jo, the chef, Ash, the sous chef, and Jeremy, the lead musher. Next, we walked to where the Alaskan dogs and sleds were. There, we had a chance to meet, greet, and take photos with the dogs. Once the dogs were loaded, we were off! It was a fun and exciting 3 mile late night ride under the dark Alaskan sky and the Aurora Borealis! After returning from our dog sled ride, coffee/tea/hot cocoa/water and appetizers were waiting for us in the yurt! Chef Jo then began her magic in the kitchen. A delicious and perfectly pan fried Alaskan salmon was served along with rice pilaf and asparagus spears. Dessert of hot cherry pie followed. Throughout the night, we could enjoy the Aurora Borealis inside the yurt, outside the yurt, or alongside a fire pit with chairs. Some of us toasted marshmallows to make s'mores! We know we were fortunate to observe the Aurora lights at a high KP5 activity. We were also very fortunate to have met and been treated so well by Josh, Jeremey, Peggy, Tourson, Chef Jo, and Sous Chef Ash. All were professional, friendly, positive, dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate with ensuring we had a good time. Additional shout outs go to Chelsea and Rebecca who worked out all the logistics for our tour. All 14 of us created memories of a lifetime with 1st Alaska Tour!
The Northern Lights were a bust because Mother Nature decided not to cooperate but everything else was a 10/10. I’m fairly certain our guide, Ash, is probably the coolest person I will ever meet in my life and he had a ton of amazing anecdotes and facts. And did I mention how cool the dogs were? The sledding experience is amazing and everyone is so sweet and so so fun! Definitely recommend!
Everything was great! We had an awesome guide Paul, great mushing team with Jeremy and a delicious meal repaired by Chef Jo. Just was unsuccessful with seeing the northern lights due to it snowing.
Dog mushing was fun, food was great. Everyone was very personal and enthusiastic about the night. The location is great (we’ve been to this spot before). The night sky was very clear and the yurts were toasty. Our guides airdropped a dozen plus photos The lights were not cooperating, but the photography assistance and the conversation of what life is like in the villages was a lovely way to spend the night around the campfire.
We had a great time! Zach drove us and was very entertaining. The aurora came out early and he stayed around and took group pics for us. Jeremy, our musher was wonderful and fun. He taught us some tricks on how to take good photos of the aurora! Jo did a FABULOUS job cooking our meal! We had the best experience thanks to this group of people!
What a wonderful night! The aurora was going during our dog sledding. It was magical! And the dinner was absolutely scrumptious!
After such a great experience I would definitely recommend any of their tours. From pick up to drop off it was perfect. Ash, Jeremy and Chef Joe made great team. Thank yall!
This is by far the best thing we did while in Fairbanks! It snowed all day and there was zero chance of seeing the aurora but even so, we had the BEST time! There were 50 dogs, all of which were amazingly friendly. As our musher, Jeremy, selected dogs for the ride (some of which he let us choose) we got to pet and love the pack. We rode through the forest on an amazingly smooth trail. The musher was friendly and knowledgeable and even stopped the ride to take photos of us and the dogs. One the ride was over we were taken to a warm yurt where a delicious meal was cooked by a really sweet chef named Jo. Honestly it was the best food I’ve had while I stayed in Fairbanks. We hung around to chat for a while and then headed back. Wendy transported us to and from the facility. She was sweet, answered all of our questions and got us there safely in a warm bus. Five ⭐️!
The tour was well organized and included a nice way to pass the time while waiting for the northern lights. The dinner was amazing and it was such a treat to ride the dog sleds and interact with the dogs. We loved this experience.
This trip was amazing out guide Joseph was super friendly, the couple in the yurt was also super friendly food was awesome the lights were amazing dog sledding guys were also amazing overall highlight of our trip to alaska
Wonderful experience! Starting with the van pick up at the hotel by the knowledgeable and friendly driver (Britney I believe) to the exciting dog sled experience, delicious dinner and dessert, super friendly owner/operators and mushers and then the spectacular northern lights - it was a GREAT night. Even if we didn’t see the lights, the overall experience would still have been wonderful. The dogs are well cared for and super friendly - they encourage petting and interacting with them before you head out on the sled ride. The hut is very comfortable and a good place to watch the lights from inside or return to if you’ve been outside and need to warm up. Book this trip! It’s worth it. Note - It was definitely cold-so wear warm clothes and mittens/gloves for the dog sledding, plus to help you stay out longer to view the lights.
Joe our driver was amazing the food was awesome lights and all the dogs made it worth the cold. Dog sled driver was very knowledgeable
A recommended experience for those visiting Fairbanks and who want to view the Northern Lights. Transportation was provided to the site making it a hassle-free experience. Staff were friendly, enjoyed listening to their stories and the food was good! Enjoyed the dog sledding and meeting the dogs, they were very cute!
This was such an amazing experience. The tour guides were so informative and friendly. Dog sledding was so much fun and the pups are adorable! Our dinner was delicious and we were fortunate enough to get to see the lights! The whole experience was stellar and I would recommend this your to anyone visiting the area!
Great trip. The mushers were very friendly and great guides. Food was excellent & atmosphere was even better. Would definitely recommend this trip to anybody.
Truly an amazing evening! Frigid fun with the dog sled tour, yummy salmon dinner & Mother Nature showing off with an array of Northern Lights
It was amazing. Unfortunately, we didnt see the aurora but the overall experience was great. The dogs were absolutely remarkable.
It was combination of Chena Hot spring and aurora lights, ice fishing, norther lights dog sledding and dinner. They have awesome crew, hidden place off the grid Aurora Borealis cabins (experienced Aurora lights every night) small group, comfortable equipped with heater, hot drinks and snacks. Before I booked the trip had lots of questions and Rebecca answered all my question in very professional manner, (Thank you Rebecca you are awesome) rest of crew, Ryan, Frank, Randy and Jack I dealt with very courteous and helpful, always pick you up on time from your hotel. (Dinner was excellent) Thank you guys for the great trip.
The experience is amazing. Ryan picked us up and dropped us back to the hotel. He is very knowledgeable and nice. Dinner was superb home cooked meal. Dog sledding at night with the snow sparkles like diamond is an experience of a lifetime. Unfortunately we cannot see the northern light when we’re dog sledding. But we were able to see it after dinner.
We had the most absolute fun mushing. Matthew was our guide and was so good with the dogs. He clearly loves his job and the dogs. Dinner was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly. To top the night off, we saw two moose on the road back. They almoat walked right in front of the van. Our driver Randy expertly avoided collision, and the moose ran back up the bank. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!
This was the best tour on our trip to Alaska. The 1st Alaska team is a delight! Rebecca, in the office, helped us find the tour that was just right for us. Ryan, our tour guide, was congenial and super helpful. Once on site, Streeter spent lots of time with us, made a warm fire around which we waited for the Aurora to appear, and helped everyone with s'mores. The location was perfect for Aurora viewing. The dog sled was magical and a good, long ride compared to another dog sled tour we went on. Dinner was delicious, and all of the accommodations were very comfortable. It was a very professional operation. We definitely recommend this trip!!
Perfect evening. Enjoyed dogsledding by moonlight and a great dinner while waiting for the lights to appear. Great location for viewing with an expansive view to the north. Ryan, Jerry and Matt were great with the drive, dog mushing and building a fire and Torsten cooked us a great meal. Just missing graham crackers for the smores.
Ryan was a fantastic guide on our ride. Sven was an excellent host. The yurt was so cozy with a great view of the lights. The view outside was so scenic and picturesque. The food was beautifully plated. They were very respectful of dietary restrictions. Everyone working there was very friendly.
Everyone on this tour was amazing. Loved the dogs Every dog was a good boy. Our meal was delicious. My brother and I had a wonderful time. Thank you all.
Had a lovely time with the dogs, the people and enjoying excellent food. Ryan, our shuttle driver had a wealth of information to share with us about the area, the dogs, Alaska....very enjoyable. Mushers Jeremy and Matthew kept us safe on the sleds and also shared a plethora of information. The food was excellent and the aura did not disappoint. Thank you 1st Alaska Tours. Would highly recommend.
This was the first evening on our trip to Fairbanks. -35F, but it didn’t feel extremely cold. But I was dressed as if I were on an Arctic expedition. The sled dogs were sweet and lovable and the northern lights were awesome. The salmon dinner is a full dinner so don’t eat before you go. My wife and I were the only ones there that night due to the bitter cold snap, and we were treated to an extra helping of Alaskan hospitality. Thanks to Matthew, our musher who was a co-Louisianian, and ol’ Joe, our driver and Alaskan sage, who kept us entertained and informed about everything Alaskan. Pricey, but worth it. I highly recommend.
We enjoyed our nighttime mushing experience. The mushers were knowledgeable and friendly. The dogs were so enthusiastic and ready to run! Our hosts provided a delicious dinner in the warm yurt.
We had read beforehand that Aurora was a very hit or miss experience as it ultimately comes down to Mother Nature. However, when a visitor is making a trip with nervousness that they may not see what they came for, it is the experience that counts. Even if you do see the lights, experience provided by a professional tour operator just takes it to a different level. Right from the booking and making the reservation, we had a very nice experience. The lady was very informative, and suggested days when Aurora could be highly probable. The hotel pickup was sharp on time, if not a few minutes early. Our guide Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable about Alaska in general and was just incredible to listen to so many informational tidbits that are quintessential to the Alaskan culture and way of life that always leaves you longing for more.. The dog sled ride was also beyond incredible. We were initially nervous about making this sled ride at night, but our dog mushers were so friendly and informative that we were at ease from the get go, and had such an unforgettable experience. At the end of the ride, when our fingers and toes needed some warmth, we were welcomed with warm drinks and delicious dinner. We were skeptical of the vegetarian dinner options initially, but the hot food prepared by the host were really yummy and absolutely delicious. Aurora for us showed up only at the end of our tour, towards 1:30 am and it was absolutely mesmerizing. Would recommend 1st Alaska Tours for an unforgettable experience !
Jake did a great job picking us up, educating us on the town and aurora lights, as well as keeping us company during the trip. He was fun a high spirited, conservative. The family at the house (Peggy & Husband) served a great dinner and made us feel at home. Would do this again with them!
The experience was out of this world. The view was spectacular, the meal was scrumptious and the hosts were friendly. The dogs were amazingly friendly as well. Jake was our driver and he was awesome. Highly recommended 🤍
This is the most delightful tour we had in Fairbanks! We got to experience the famous dog sledding with incredible hard working Alaskan huskies, chasing the northern light in a warm homely cabin. While you wait for the aurora a home cooked meal is being prepared by the host. It was a 3 course meal with fresh local ingredients. Thru out the trip our guide Jessica helped out took many memorable photos, shared the story of Fairbanks, and go above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. And even suggested a summer activity for us! Also please convey my thanks to the husky team: Little man, Zapp, Copper, Daniel, Zoyberg, Bender, Hiro, Scotty, Barlu, Momo.
Joe our driver was great! The dinner was delicious and the entire staff was very nice and knowledgeable.
