Iceman Johnson was our guide on the glacier. He was energetic, informative, and knew the glacier well.
Guides were excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. Views at the glacier were amazing and guide accommodated any special requests we had. Learned a lot about the history of Alaska from Logan on the drive.
What a great experience! Walking on a glacier was just amazing and magical. Our glacier guide Jason was amazing, he looked after us really well. Only bad thing was we didnt get any snacks or water the whole day even though it stated they provided it for everyone. If we had known we would have packed stuff. A 2hr drive there and 2hr back without water wasn't great. Lunch was really good and the view was amazing, but its not until 145pm so take your own water with you. No where to get water until lunch time. We spent 2 1/2 hrs on the glacier and we loved every minute!
Great tour with awesome tour guide! Highly recommend this tour. Includes yummy lunch of your choice from local diner with awesome views!
If you have a day in Anchorage, I highly recommend this excursion with Alaskan Sights and Bites. Chris was an outstanding host. We had a family of 12 take the tour and Chris made it 13. Very personable like he was part of the family and treated us the same. Very informative about his native Alaska and the tour itself was terrific. Just the right amount of time spent hiking the glacier with another informative guide. The glacier hike was followed by a terrific lunch with views of the glacier. All in all an outstanding day in the Anchorage area. As a large group, Chris also picked us up directly at our hotel which was a bonus. Alaskan Sights and Bites were also excellent in communicating with me, answering questions I had prior to our trip. Very highly recommended.
We had an incredible experience on the Matanuska Glacier Hike with Lunch! Our tour guide, Chris, was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and shared fascinating information throughout the entire tour, pointing out interesting features and facts we would have otherwise missed. What really stood out was how much effort Chris made to get to know us and learn about our interests. He tailored the experience accordingly, making sure we spent extra time on the things we enjoyed most. Our glacier hike actually ran longer than scheduled, which we didn't mind at all because it was so engaging and memorable. Chris never rushed us and encouraged us to take in the experience and enjoy the moment. He was also happy to take photos for us, which allowed us to fully enjoy the hike while still capturing great memories. The glacier itself was absolutely breathtaking, and the delicious lunch was the perfect addition to an already fantastic day. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska. Thank you, Chris, for making it such a special experience!
Chris was amazing! He knows a lot of information about Anchorage, glacier, and Alaska. The restaurant choice was excellent too! Nice view and tasty food. Thank you! Best wishes to you!
What a great hike and we appreciated Luke as our tour guide! We had a great time and would recommend
Love the tour…. and something that was really nice is that they have ice pants and sunglasses that they allow you to use for free. The tour guy was amazing as well
Really comfortable, knowledgeable trip with impressive views and unique experience of glacier. The biggest one which you could reach by car.
This was probably a once in a lifetime experience for me and it was AMAZING. If you’re thinking about it DO IT. The food was amazing and everyone had a great time. It was just our small group on the tour so he even dropped us back off at our place. 10/10
What a great experience!! Our tour guide, Chris, was super well informed and a great story teller!! I was on the edge of my seat on the drive to the glacier when Chris was telling us the story of Togo and his musher. The hike itself was great and Sophie was a great guide. The lunch (included in tour cost) was totally a plus and he even dropped us off at our AirBnB since it was just our group. Totally worth the money and the history behind the Chugach range and the other ranges were keeping me hooked while the sights made me gasp in awe.
Our guide is professional and friendly. We had a wonderful time in this tour. We learned a lot about the glacier and Alaska. And the lunch was also excellent! I definitely recommend this tour!
Chris was the best guide/driver/owner of the Matanuska with lunch. As a native Alaskan born and raised he was a wealth of knowledge about everything Alaska which made the 2 hour drive go by quickly. Once at the glacier Jason was our trained glacier guide for our 2 hours out on the ice. Again a wealth of knowledge about glaciers and Alaska while keeping the group moving about 2.5 miles. The ice itself is spectacular and not to be missed if you're in Anchorage.
I joined a glacier walking tour and had a really great experience overall. Our guide clearly loved his job and was incredibly enthusiastic throughout the trip. Along the way, he shared many interesting stories about life in Alaska, which made the journey even more enjoyable. I originally expected lunch to be something simple like a sandwich, but we actually stopped at a restaurant near the glacier where we could try some local Alaskan food—I had a salmon taco, which was a nice surprise. On the way back, the guide was also very helpful in recommending restaurants in the downtown area, which I really appreciated. Once we arrived at the glacier, we were led by a professional glacier guide. Free crampons and snow pants were available to borrow if needed. At the beginning of the tour, we took a sled pulled by an ATV to get close to the glacier. There was some snow and wind, so it’s important to protect your eyes and ears. Our group had more than 10 people, so it was sometimes a bit hard to hear the guide’s explanations if you were walking toward the back. That said, the scenery was absolutely stunning and well worth it. The route itself was not too difficult—if you’re used to daily activities like climbing stairs, it should be manageable. Just make sure to follow the guide’s safety instructions carefully. Overall, it was a memorable experience and a great way to see the glacier up close.
Easy hike with nice views. On our way back we stopped by in a lodge with the best view I have seen in my life! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and chill! I highly recommend this tour
We took a tour to the Matanuska glacier, it was incredible, the guide was super knowledgeable, pleasant to be around and caring. Definitely recommend!
It was one of the best experience. Walking on the top of glacier we never forget. Tour guide and tour manager were amazing. They were helpful, flexible with schedule.
We had a great time on this tour. We received a lot of useful local knowledge from our personable tour guide, who even took us to a great brewery for lunch afterwards! Fantastic, comfortable, enjoyable!!
After my time in Fairbanks, I wanted to explore Anchorage and I'm so glad I stumbled on Alaskan Sights & Bites!!! What an incredible couple of days with sightseeing, glacier hike, wilderness tour and some great food and beer along the way. Chris was knowledgeable and friendly and stopped at so many points along the way so we could take in the beauty of Alaska. Cannot wait to go back for more!!
