This is a fun experience. Our driver covered a lot of interesting facts and details regarding Alaska history and environment on our ride out to the glacier. Once there, the guide was a really fun guy. He had us out on the glacier for a couple hours and taught us a lot about the glacier and how it moves. He had a lot of fun things for us to do, including dunking our heads in glacier water (cold). He was very passionate about the glacier and the environment.

An amazing experience! Best part of our stay in Anchorage. The day was well organized. From the pickup at our hotel through our guide on the glacier. On the glacier it was “where do I point my camera first!”. The experience of hiking on a glacier will be remembered forever.
On top of being a great photographer and guide, he even gave us super thoughtful souvenir cards and seeds before we left. You can really tell he puts his whole heart into making sure everyone has an unforgettable time. Thank you so much, Hunter! I'm attaching some photos from our awesome trip. 1000/10 recommendation!
Rine is the best guide ever! She loves the glacier and is passionate about her job. She’s very knowledgeable and experienced.
Our guide Geoff was really good.He provided a lot of information about the surrounding areas.Overall we had a great time and I would recommend him to anyone going on the tour.
Our driver, Taylor Lou, was great! He was friendly and on time. The trip was longer than expected due to road construction. Our hike guide was good too. We had been on another glacier hike before and feel this one was better. The trip information said that snacks and water would be provided, but we were not offered any.
I really enjoyed this experience! The smaller group was perfect. Our driver and our glacier guide were great. I recommend using walking sticks for anyone that wants to feel more stable on their feet.
This is such a beautiful experience. Our day started with our driver, Kevin who picked us up at our hotel. We stopped by a place to grab lunch to either eat there or along the way. Our drive was pleasant. Kevin is awesome! We learned about Alaska and had some great conversations during our two hour ride. Now, the hike, wow! What an awesome experience. We stopped a lot to take pictures and the memories in. It was safe and absolutely gorgeous! If you’re in the area, this is a must do! Just absolutely breathtaking and amazing experience!
We had a great time on our excursion. Kevin was a great communicator and prepared us well ahead of the trip. Day of, he was on time, had packed great snacks for us, and kept us informed of great info and history on the beautiful drive. We had time to grab lunch to eat at the site and bathroom breaks for those that needed it. The hike itself was great, and Sophie was an awesome guide. We learned a lot and loved our visit. It would be great to do it in winter.
Geoff was our guide and he was amazing! He provided so many interesting facts about Alaska and the Glacier.
The glacier was a must see! Everything about it was fantastic. The guide and driver were amazing as well. Highly recommend!
Unique, informative, refreshing, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The hike on the glacier was amazing…perfect day!! Jason and Ren were super patient, kind, helpful and knowledgeable!
The entire party LOVED this glacial hike. It felt otherworldly to hike on our frozen history and see the whitest, bluest and blackest ice one can see. Geoff, our driver, was incredibly friendly and was very knowledgeable about the area and glaciers. Sophie, our guide, went above and beyond to help everyone in our party (ages 4-70) safely enjoy the experience all while teaching us about the glacier and its ever changing form. If you are even thinking about doing it, do it! There is about a two hour drive from Anchorage to the glacier, but the sights keep you distracted or you can sneak in a quick nap.
This is a trip to a stunning location, a 90-minute bus ride from the centre of Anchorage. You are givien the necessary kit, in particular the spike chains to put over your boots, and a guide drives you across a frozen lake on a snowmobile, before s/he leads you up and down on the beautiful Matunuska glacier. We were in a group of 8 and walking on the glacier for two and an half hours. This requires you to be able to walk and be on your feet for a decent length of time. The weather was not overly cold when we were there - just below freezing - and we got no rain or snow, although it wasn't sunny. The only reason why I have not given 5 stars is that the driver who was coming to collect us overslept and the replacement driver arrived an hour late, although he was great. Just for clarification, there is nowhere to stop between Anchorage and the glacier.
Great experience. Well worth the time. Scenic drive to the glacier then an interesting hike in, around, and on the glacier. Driver was friendly and knowledgeable and guide was friendly and engaging.
Excellent tour! Everything was perfectly on time from hotel pickup to drop-off. The driver and guide were both very kind and attentive. The glacier and mountain views were absolutely beautiful, and they helped us take great photos. Highly recommend!
Wonderful phenomenal experience with Daniel’s tour. All my family had a convenient transportation in and out. Would highly recommend to anyone.
It was very pretty site to go to. Will definitely recommend for other people to go and will go again if I have the chance.
Amazing experience! The glacier was beautiful and the guide Daniel was very friendly. The trip was well organized and I felt safe the whole time. Highly recommend!
Awesome experience. We loved having McGuire as our guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The glacier was so beautiful, we’re so glad we booked this excursion!
AMAZING!!! The weather was really good, the people are too kind, is good to come in winter because there are not too many people
An absolute must if visiting Anchorage. An incredible immersive experience. We were picked up at our hotel and our driver took us to Matanushka safely. We felt safe in the glacier at all times with a very knowledgable guide. We hiked through the glacier, drank a little of its melting water, it was amazing! Absolutely recommended.
Geoff was an amazing guide and driver. He’s extremely knowledgeable about all things Alaska— there’s literally no question he wouldn’t be able to answer! Very accommodating, organized, and overall a super cool dude. Would definitely book with him again if I’m ever back in Anchorage!
The guide on the hike was so knowledgeable and friendly, we had a wonderful time. They have some gear they’re happy to let you borrow, such as ski pants and cleats - but be prepared with gloves, socks and other warm clothing for this hike!
Generally the tour took 2 hours drive to Matanuska, a 2 hour hike and 2 hours drive to return. I am not sure why limit the time for hike to two hours, wonder to cater for the physical and safety of the visitor.. The tour guide at the glazier site was strict, unpleasant tone and everyone must follow the walk on the glacier one by one with few stopovers for photo taking. I can understand it was for the safety of everyone particularly the tour had pre-teen/teen. But kind of boring. We expect something more interesting and challenging. Also October was a shoulder season which is lack of snow and ice.

Great guided hike on the glacier. Guide was knowledgeable and provided a lot of interesting information about the glacier and ensured everyone's safety. Plenty of opportunities to take pictures. Don't have to be super fit, but there is elevation and hiking at a moderate pace vs a stroll. Although the driver didn't provide a guided narrative on the way, he was very knowledgeable of the area and the glacier and happily answered any questions.
It was a great experience. Very well organized, very professional. It is must do. I would recommend this to everyone.
Our guide Leona is experienced and friendly. Took lots of professional photos of us. We drove 2 hours and stopped by a Mcdonald to get lunch. The hiking part is one of the kind, once in a lifetime experience. My 5 year old girl was able to follow along, almost 2 hr hike. My 8 year old boy was following the guide all the time, asking all sorts of questions, and the guide was able to answer him and even let him tried the pickaxe on ice and rock. We were lucky the weather was nice. We wore layers of clothes and the kids wore ski pants which proved to be necessary. Wear utility boots or sneakers, something you won't mind to get dirty.
Kevin communicated very well in advance and kept us on track. He was always ahead of the curve and went above and beyond to help us and the other family with children to enjoy the experience safely. He was knowledgeable, helpful and kind, good with all of us from a 4-year old to retirees. 10 out of 10. Also, the on-site guides were well-trained, knew how to explain the glacier and navigate safely in the strange and constantly changing environment. Fun and very memorable.
Our family had an amazing glacier experience, and Kevin was the highlight of the day. He was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure everyone—from our youngest to the adults—felt comfortable and safe. Kevin explained the glacier’s history and features in a way that was engaging and easy to understand, and he went above and beyond to help us capture some incredible photos. His passion for the outdoors is contagious, and he made the whole trip both educational and fun. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend Kevin for anyone looking for a memorable glacier adventure!
Hiking the glacier was breathtaking. I was a bit nervous because I have never done it before but my 16 year old son encouraged me and walla, I kept up just fine. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable.
The tour consists of two portions. The first is the drive to and from the glacier. That is the part handled by this company. Kevin, our driver, was good. He pointed out some facts and interesting things along the way. We stopped off at a supermarket in Palmer to buy ourselves some lunches for the rest of the ride to Matanuska. After getting to the glacier, we were essentially handed over to the guide company there. Will, our guide on the glacier, was very knowledgeable. He is about to enter his senior year at UT Austin, and is a geophysics major with a special interest in glaciers. We learned a lot of science and geology facts. Also, the hike was on the edge of the glacier, which is a very different geology from other ones we’ve been on before in Iceland and New Zealand. For those tours, we went to the middle of the glaciers. Not sure what the breakdown in cost between the ride and the glacier guide is. If I had a better rental car, I could’ve made the drive myself and hired the guides directly.
The experience was great. The driver was a Chinese and very responsible. He took good care of my friend and me all the way. As we were J1 students, there were also other foreign couples in the car. He would often look at us through the rearview mirror to check on our condition and explain things in both Chinese and English. The guide sister was particularly responsible. During the glacier hike, she would hold your hand to walk and also take pictures for you. She was a very infectious person.
Great experience walking spot canyons on a glacier and learning about mulans, moraine, corridors, basal ice, and black ice.
This was a great experience. The entire trip took 8 hrs including 30 min break on our way to the glacier park. The total drive is around 2 hrs long from Anchorage. It’s a smooth ride except for the last stretch of about 2 miles which is unpaved leading to the glacier park. The hike was about 2 hrs 50 min inclusive of walking up to the glacier base and getting the spiked attachments on to the shows. The hike is relatively easy with some occasional steep ascents and descents. But the spikes make the walk super easy. We remained on the glacier for more than 2 hours, clicking pictures at various interesting places and stopping for a drink from the glacier melts. The guide was nice and helpful. And the day turned out exceptionally bright and sunny adding to the nice experience. We saw kids as young as 4 years old and older folks (one person in her 70s for sure) all enjoying the hike. But a bad knee may cause some issues climbing up and down the steep areas. It was our first glacier hike, could have not had started in any other place for such a perfect start. Hiking shoes and layered clothing along with woolen hat highly recommend.
We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel by Taylor! Our guide on the glacier was Bren and she was incredible and extremely knowledgeable! The glacier was the most challenging hike we’ve done but it was exhilarating! Always felt safe, thanks to the clampons! We lived every minute and saw a lot!
We had an amazing experience visiting the Matanuska Glacier, and Geoff was a big reason why! He’s incredibly knowledgeable, super friendly, and clearly knows a lot about Alaska — from the glacier’s history to the surrounding landscapes and wildlife. Geoff made the whole trip fun, informative, and safe. He answered all our questions with enthusiasm and had great stories to share. You can tell he loves what he does, and it really made the experience special. Highly recommend this tour — and if you get Geoff as your guide, you’re in great hands!
Loved every second of this trip, you could tell the guides and driver had a genuine love and knowledge of all things Alaska!
Geoff is the best guide you can ask for. He is very knowledgeable about the glaciers and local area geography. He communicated the itinerary clearly, accommodated our drop-off request, drove safely, and was a great conversationalist. He even went out of his way to contact a musk ox farm since we showed interest in visiting. You can't get a better guide than Geoff. His dedication to his job and the effort to make sure everyone is taken care of on the tour was evident.
Our driver Daniel was fantastic. He told us about the area and little tidbits of info along the way. And took us to see gorgeous views of Denali after the hike and to go find a moose (which we did!) he was amazing, can’t say enough good things about him. Our hiking guide Petra was also great. Very knowledgeable and you can tell she really loves her work. Definitely recommend this tour if you are looking for a day trip!
What a Magnificent Glacier experience. Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Love the various colors of glaciers. Must visit and treat for eyes.
Rey nice and unique experience. Our guide was nice. So was our driver. The glacier experience was pretty unique.
Shouts out to Tyler who made the best experience possible for us. Glacier was beautiful and amazing. Everything you could ask for !
This is the best ever experience for me. The glacier is just astonishing. Our guide is enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and shared with us lots of knowledge about the glaciers. The whole trip was just amazing and unforgettable!
Matanuska glacier is very impressive! I really enjoyed the tour today. Remember to wear snowsuit, snow pants and snow boots.
Absolutely fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime experience! Kim and Nick were great, with tons of local knowledge. They made the trip unforgettable. Highly recommended!
Really good and safe trip! I would really recommend this program if you are coming from China and you prefer talking in Chinese during the drive to the glacier.
Our guide along the glacier was fabulous. Very entertaining and lots of laughter! Colder than I thought it would be, so be prepared.
