Ketchikan Authentic Alaska Fishing Adventure

Tim Hemme was our guide and he was phenomenal. His knowledge and personality really made the trip special for us. He put us on the fish and made sure we had everything we need to make this the trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend this excursion.

Had a beautiful sky blue low wind calm sea day! Chris Baldwin was our guide and put us on a variety of fish, Misc Rock Fish, Halibut, and Salmon. Very knowledgeable guide and friendly manner. Very clean boat.

The captain was nice. However, we fish for three hours in the same spot. He would not try another spot. He said he’s been fishing there for 13 years. The fish are down there, but unless you can speak animal. It wasn’t gonna do any good to move. There were 5 anglers and toys 9 fish. Obviously no guarantee of catching fish but it was dead. Other people on the cruise went to a different fishing tour where they fish closer to the port and they cut fish and they cooked it for them so they all got to eat what they caught. We didn’t get either. Would not recommend this. Just my experience

This was more than my husband hoped it would be. Perfect day, fabulous guide who knew exactly where to go to find the salmon. We shipped almost thirty pounds of salmon to our home in Orlando. And it's sooo delicious. Will definitely do again on a I trip.

Fishing in Alaska is something I've always wanted to do and this was the highlight of my trip. My husband and I were on the Carnival cruise ship and couldn't pass up the oppertunity to book a fishing excursion while we were out here. This company was recommended to me from a few social media friends and their reviews look great. Glad we booked with them. I was a little nervous about our meeting time since we docked at 9am and our excursion started at 9:30 but getting off the ship was a breeze and Chris was easy to spot with a sign showing our name. The excursion was within walking distance from our cruise ship, it was easy to get a fishing license and the boat was one of the nicest I have ever fished on. Chris was great, the first spot we went to we weren't getting anything so he quickly moved to another spot. We eventually moved around to 3 or 4 different spots and caught our limit of halibut and rock fish. We would have liked to catch some salmon but they just weren't biting that day. We had our fish shipped home, we received it earlier this week and it came nicely packed but I would have liked it if they labeled it. Overall great experience and I got to cross this item off my bucket list.

The fishing experience was fabulous! We caught our limit of halibut, love that all we had to do is fill out a quick form and the cleaning and shipping the halibut home was sooooo easy, so professional! The best part of the trip was our Captain Talon, he made the experience the best! Such an impressive, kind, helpful, knowledgeable and enjoyable young man!

We really enjoyed fishing with Dennis. He was so knowledgeable. The views from where we were on the boat were so great and we saw sea lions sun bathing on shore. We all caught some amazing fish and had such a great time. We also went to eat at the fish house afterwards and the food was incredible. Would definitely take this trip again!

We loved every minute of our fishing trip!! Our guide, Garrett McCleery, was amazing! He got us on some fish even in bad fishing weather, and he was so nice and a joy to chat with while we fished.

Highly recommend! Every aspect was exceptional. Captain "K" was highly knowledgeable and put us on fish quickly. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

We had the pleasure to have a morning adventure with Captain Garrett. Baranof Fishing Excursions picked us up peer side with friendliness and jokes. It was a great way to start the morning. We had our fishing paperwork ready, however Baranof was very efficient and organized in helping others obtain the needed paper for the fishing morning. Then the adventure began… we had a pleasant ride to our spot, where Captain Garrett had a wealth of information about fishing and Alaska. We were on fish within the first few drops. We caught our limit and are sending home our catch. Captain Garrett and Baranof Fishing Excursions were extremely helpful in that process as well. Huge shout out to Captain Garret for a great adventure!

Garrett was very knowledgeable on what he was talking about and very friendly. He got us right on top of the fish and was very helpful. I couldn't ask for a better experience. Met at the pier by Baranof representative and guided to the docks. Getting the state fishing tag for the day was easy and was outfitted with boots, rain gear as needed. The fishing vessel was new and in great condition. Our guide was young and a bit quiet until he warmed up to the four of us. It started out a bit shaky as he really didn't say much to us when we were venturing out to the fishing area, and as he was rigging things up he didn't talk to us at all. It was feeling a bit like he didn't want to be there. Once he had the poles rigged up he simply said "okay". We actually had to ask what we needed to do. Again, he was young and of a quiet nature, but as the fishing commenced and everyone on the boat started warming up to each other it got a lot better. He was a great guide and new his stuff as far as I could tell. We caught a very unusual Ratfish and he seemed quite knowledgeable about this prehistoric species of fish. We caught our limit of Halibut and had a great time.

Captain Dennis Metzger got us on fish quickly, and all 5 on board caught a Halibut. Had time to troll for salmon but only caught 1 small one. Also hooked 2 sharks which were released. Had a great time, and fulfilled an item on my bucket list.

Our amazing experience was with Talon & his incredible knowledge. We had a fantastic day & caught great salmon. We had it shipped home & enjoying our bounty still. 10/10

Landon Lamb was the guide for 6 of us. He did a fantastic job. Our tour lasted around 4.5 hours and we all were able to catch either pink or silver salmon. We highly recommend this company and Landon as a guide. A fun trip for us all.

Don't expect to have a good experience with this company. The captain we had was surly, difficult, wouldn't answer questions, insulting, and was overall unprepared to deal with people on vacation who are just trying to have a good day fishing. He could not find fish and that's okay if he had convinced me he even tried. This guy had no business working in a hospitality job and it was clear he hated being there, and he hated his job.

Ask for Landon. Best guide I’ve ever had, knows his stuff and is a blast to spend a day with. Would give 6 stars if I could all because of Landon

This was the best fishing experience, Talon met us on the dock and we were fortunate that it was just the 3 of us. We hit the fish right away, caught salmon and rockfish and got to know this young man. Really enjoyed our 5 hour trip and they we caught so many. As a matter of fact, we decided to ship some home to Florida to enjoy with the family. Could not have gotten a better Captain, he really knew where to find the fish and we enjoyed the trip so much. It really was the highlight of all our activities we scheduled during our Alaskan cruise!

Bo suggested a spot pretty far away but was pretty sure there were be fish and boy did he deliver. We caught our boat maximum plus 2 huge non keepers. Bo was knowledgeable and professional. I consider us lucky for getting him as a captain.

We went out with Bo Chaney. He was great. We wanted to catch Halibut. He set basic expectations for us and he lived up to it. Weather wasnt great but we didnt care. 2 couples on the boat. We limited out plus 2 big ones released. One over 100lb and likely over 150lb. 1 ling cod, just short, also came over the rail. If i ever get the chance to come back, i will absolutely ask for Bo.

We had a great fishing adventure! Our guide, Brant, was amazing. He got us to a sopt where the halibut were hitting, and when the water got too rough, he got us to another spot that was just as productive! He was attentive to all those on the excursion, and had lots of great information and tips. Highly recommend!!

Captian Kinani Halvorsen was amazing. She put us on the fish. She was professional and friendly. She ran the boat like she had been doing it her whole life. If I come back to Ketchikan I would definitely book a trip with Baranof Fushing Excursion and I would insist on Captian Kinani Halvorsen as my fishing guide.

We had a blast with capt K Kinani today she was super knowledgeable about the area and she definitely knew where the fish were hanging out one fish after another it wa a blast and hope to go out again soon thank you captain k

Overall the experience was fantastic and our guide was great. I would book again with them. We went out salmon fishing first and it was a slow day for salmon as we only caught 2. Our guide switched it up to rock fish and we were then able to catch a decent amount of fish. I thought it was a slow day salmon fishing until I heard others caught 16-25 salmon in 2 hours. Perhaps it was because we only had 2 salmon fishing lines in while others had 4? Could be because we were in a different spot? I thought the guide would add more lines or radio someone to see where the better fishing was but instead we ended up seeking rock fish.

Captain David was awesome! Right from the start he got to know a bit about everyone that was fishing with him. I’ve never seen someone work so hard to ensure we all had a fantastic time fishing experience. Captain David went above and beyond!! This was the highlight of our trip!!

From start to finish Baranof charters delivered. Great communication. Prompt pick up. Easy check in process. After 45 minute boat ride, Devin put us on the salmon. He skillfully managed four lines and five anxious fishermen. We have multiple hookups. Sometimes three lines tight at once. We filled the hold... three fish short of limit. Upon our return, the fish were sent to the processor for delivery to our homes. A wonderful day. Smooth and seamless with a quality outfit and captain that really knows their stuff. Four stars

Awesome experience!! I do have to say I got very lucky with a day that didn’t have any rain but still a great time all around. Our captain, Talon, was more than awesome. Very easy to talk to, very supportive when you got the fish, and very clear on what to do and when to do it for the best chances on getting the fish in the boat. He answered all the questions we had and had good advice on things aside from fishing. Boat was very nice, clean, and not too crammed.

Chris was a great guide for us on Friday August 7. We were able to bring in more than a dozen total fish and met the limit for Halibut . It was super fun and the coastline was amazing

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. We booked and canceled through Viator for this fishing company to go through our cruise line since it was such a short port, we wanted to make sure we could get back on the boat. The day of excursion they called us saying we “No Showed,” I explained on the phone we canceled through Viator to go through our cruise line and they are saying we just decided to not go. So now even though we have proof of cancellation, they refuse to refund us saying in their system we no showed. Terrible customer service that has left us with a big headache and financial burden of trying to get our money back. Save yourself the time and effort and just book through the cruise line. I would never recommend booking through Viator or this fishing service to anyone.

Dave was awesome we started out fishing for salmon caught a silver and some pink salmon then moved onto jigging for rock fish the boys wanted to try jigging I caught a large lingcod and some other small fish we made another move and really got on the rock fish limited out on yellow tail quickly we headed to the dock with 20 fish in the cooler this was a great excursion

Captain David was awesome!!! Told us his thoughts on the day and what he would do and then executed to perfection!!! Would fish with him any day!!!!!!

What an amazing afternoon! Captain Bo Chaney was the best guide. We rock fished and trolled for salmon. Captain Bo made sure everyone caught a fish, which makes me so happy. Our boys (17 yo) had the time of their lives. And we saw humpback whales too. Thank you for the best excursion!

We were on an Alaskan cruise and while were we in port we selected to go fishing. OMG, that was so fun! David S. was super friendly, knowledgeable and knew where we needed to be to catch fish.. some were pretty ugly looking. David had us back to the dock in time to get back on the ship. We loved the salmon dip with crackers he provided for a snack. Made it more of a memorable time in Alaksa. It was a blast watching a bald eagle hoover above us while we were fishing. Highly highly recommend! 👌 I already want to go back.

Talon Gibson was our fishing guide he was great! We had a blast caught such a variety of fish even caught and released a few sharks. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Great value for the money!

Went out with Brant Widness to go crabbing and fishing. Great trip. Lots of fun and excellent guide. Brought up over 60 to 70 crab and kept 5! Caught two salmon and then went to their private beach where they cooked it all up. Well run operation. Great people.

For the cost of the trip per person the excursion was not worth the cost had we been able to fish individually with a rod in hand things may have been more worth it

We had an outstanding day .. we caught plenty of halibut and one salmon .. Brandt was super knowledgeable and took us to great spot .. the fish were plentiful and it we all caught fish . It was an A plus day and I highly recommend booking a trip with him !

Our captain, David Smithers, is a knowledgeable and experienced guide. My husband enjoys fishing and I am a beginner. I could not have asked for a better coach with David, he was supportive to everyone on our fishing adventure, novice or highly skilled. We enjoyed our excursion immensely and highly recommend.

Amazing day! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He put us on the fish and adjusted as needed to ensure everyone had a great experience. You don’t need anything, they provide everything. We even got to see whales and a double rainbow. I highly recommend booking.

I chose this tour for a fun fishing trip in hopes of catching fish. I went solo, but that didn’t matter, the group meshed well. We had captain Dave, who made sure we had the boots, the suit, the rain coat, warm hat, and gloves. He also basically did everything which was wonderful, because like the tour name it was an authentic Alaskan fishing day. Rainy, cold, foggy, & whales in the distance. I caught a spiny dog fish. Didn’t matter that it was not a great fishing day, I had a great time. Would recommend & do again.
