Jake was our guide and he was amazing and very informative! He was patient with all of us and helped us with baiting the hook and the certain techniques to use. He even cooked the fish for us we caught. Best experience

Are you ready to make your Alaskan Adventure feel REEL!? We welcome everyone to try their hand at catching a fish through the ice! This is a fun all age, hands on activity. Once you complete a quick check-in, the guide will give you a simple demonstration on the best techniques to successfully catch a fish during your adventure. We do encourage Catch and Release, this gives us and the next clients the opportunity at more and bigger fish, however your guide will cook the fish for you upon request. We fish for multiple different species throughout the Interior including Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling, Burbot, Pike and Whitefish. While in the cabin there will be hot drinks available (hot cocoa/tea). Once booked we will send you the lake location for your tour. We also have the option to Pick up & Drop off at hotels for an additional fee, however, you must contact us to check the current availability.

Ice fishing was fun, we did not catch anything but it was still very enjoyable. The guide is very knowledgeable and helpful. He is very communicative about every thing and thorough .
We had a fun ice fishing experience even though the fish weren’t biting. Our guide, Jake, was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, we highly recommend this activity.
It’s a difficult place to meet especially with Wi-Fi being spotty. I did text the provider for clarification with a rapid response. Jake, our guide, set everything up and We were comfortable and had good instruction…. Unfortunately, no fish🥴 not Jake’s fault…he tried everything he knew to lure them towards us. They just weren’t having it…Great experience! Thanks Jake😉
Warm and welcoming vibes from the start. We caught a fresh rainbow trout, and Jake cooked it for us on the spot. The whole experience felt thoughtful and cozy. Highly recommend!
I recently participated in the 3 Hour Ice Fishing Experience with Reel Alaskan Adventures in December 2025. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations for two main reasons: • No Instruction Provided: As someone looking forward to learning the basics of ice fishing, I was disappointed that there was little to no guidance or teaching throughout the session. • No Hot Drinks: Fishing out on the ice is freezing, and we were not provided with any hot drinks to help stay warm, which made the three hours quite uncomfortable. Overall, it felt more like just sitting on the ice rather than a guided "experience." I hope the team improves their service for future guests.
Jack is an excellent guide, very nice to us and fish, he kept a warm tent and get is try all the inside and outside fishing holes, we caught 6 fish and let all go, super exciting.
Truly off the beaten path adventure fish and eat your catch. Jake was our tour guide great stories and very helpful also a great chef.
Had a lot of fun fishing for the first time. Was quite anxious at first because i was the only one on this tour. But it was fairly easy to get a hang of it at first and Jake was so patient with teaching me the basics and answering my random questions. We caught quite a few rainbow trouts and Jake grilled one to eat (which was delicious!!). Definitely recommend doing this when you’re here, especially getting Jake as your guide!
We came to Alaska for our honeymoon and my husband loves ice fishing! It was so enjoyable and honestly wished we would have had more time. Our guide was wonderful and even cooked up some amazing fish we caught. The 3 hours went by very fast, and you could also fish inside or outside the tent. Great experience!
Amazing time fishing!! Not only did we catch about 30 fish, Jake cooked 2 of them for us and it was soooo good!! 10/10 recommend this experience! I would def do this again the next time I come visit! Make sure to purchase a fishing license for the day if you don’t already have one.
It was amazing! We caught so many fish. Jake was our guide. He was full of information and told us exactly what we needed to do to bring in all the fish. We caught 30+ rainbow trout and 2 huge Burbot fish. We had a great time.
We had a awesome time it was so beautiful and jake was as so kind and attentive. I highly recommend! The river was so quiet and so beautiful! And the walk was easy!
It was canceled by the operator due to a blizzard. Just noticed today (5 months later) I was never refunded.
We were told that ice fishing is out of season but we still took chance for experience sake. True enough, there was not even a fish bite at the bait or lure. Nevertheless the experience is good and the guide is there to help. Cheers
Jake is an awesome guide extremely helpful and very helpful we didn’t catch any but he let me reel in a fish that he caught!we had a blast so much so that we’re going back ice fishing today I bought an auger so we can drill our own hole in the Harding lake lol Wonder experience!
Jake was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Taught us to fish. He the area, places to go and pointed out wildlife. I loved the quiet, non crowded place!
Jake was a great guide. Information from his company and website is lacking in details to no fault of Jake. The Olnes pond has a bathroom that was open and you can park Rt next to both the pond & bathroom. You take the first right turn after driving in. You do have to buy a fishing license either at Walmart, Fred meyers, or online. It is $15/person and you do not need a salmon “stamp.” You do have to sign the 1 day fishing license to make it valid (either electronically or print it out) this info was relayed to us via a text at 7pm the night before our tour. Not great. But definitely go on this tour we caught only one fish but it was a fun experience !!
We had an amazing adventure. Definitely can’t ice fish in Texas. Learned a lot and had fun. Jake was great!!! Thank you!!
My family and I had a fantastic time fishing with Jake! He is very knowledgeable about the fish species and the techniques used to catch fish. I am an avid fisherman and I always try to book a fishing trip every time I visit a different state. Using the techniques he showed us, I was able to land a rainbow trout! There was also a tent provided that kept those who were cold plenty warm. I highly recommend booking through Reel Alaskan Adventures!
We had a great time ice fishing! Our guide Jake was very knowledgeable and helpful! We stayed warm in the hut! In addition to the fun, we learned a ton about the history of the area - something beyond what we could read or explore. Jake made this a huge part of our first trip to Alaska.
Jake did a fantastic job finding where the fish were biting. He was determined to help catch a fish. He drilled about a dozen different holes so we could test different areas. Eventually I landed a nice sized rainbow trout. The whole experience was awesome. I highly recommend booking with Jake. His commitment to his guests positive experience is 10/10
Jake Barrette was our guide for this experience. Everything (tent, chairs, heaters, drilled holes, and fishing equipment) was prepared by the time we arrived at the location. Jake gave us a quick tutorial before we started and let us take turns using his fish finder for a different experience. He has lots of stories to share about living in Alaska and shares some pretty sick videos of the aurora. Overall would highly recommend going ice fishing with Jake.
I had an ice fishing tour with Jake B. He was the best guide! He was very friendly, patient, and a good teacher on how to get the fish on the actual hook. I was able to catch two fish. Jake was knowledgeable about the local area and fish! I couldn't have asked for a better guide. I would book again. I recommend 10/10.
I was looking for something new to do and came upon ice fishing. I've been to Fairbanks several times so I've done a lot but hadn't done this. I'm so glad I did. It's one of my favorite activities to date. Jake communicated well in advance and sent a pin that took me to the precise location (I was driving myself). The conversation was fun and I had a blast! The actual fishing was really cool and Jake showed me how the different gear works since I'm a noob. I almost caught a fish but even though it got away it was still a wonderful experience. The scenery on the pond can't be beat. On top of that, Jake stepped in to help in case my car was stuck as I feared! He also gave great food recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the area and fishing and outdoor activities in general.
We have a great experience even we did not catch a fish. Our guide is so knowledgeable about the activity and share some interesting ideas about the area.
I missed the time of booking by accident, so I called the guide afterward in the same day hoping to reschedule, the guide told me to wait for a call from his boss and call never came. The owner didn't even bother to communicate and the guide hung up my call later. I would have been content with at the very least a courteous exchange even if a reschedule is not possible, but so far it feels like the owner doesn't even care customer service as long as the dollar comes to their account. The guide even said to me "we are most likely done with you" in a very hostile voice when I asked if a reschedule is possible. And that was on my first call with this experience, thank god I didnt go since I would not want to be anywhere near this guy on my trip. On the service itself, other fishing experiences include grilling the fish you caught and this one doesn't for about the same price. I would recommend avoiding this place and find a more reputable ice fishing service elsewhere.
I had an amazing time ice fishing! 🎣 It was such a unique and fun experience. Thank you so much 😊👍
We got lost trying to find the meeting point. The address provided only put us in the area. We were late getting onto the lake but that wasn’t taken into consideration. The guide seemed to be rushing us off We didn’t get 3 hours of fishing and we were not offered hot beverages. Ice fishing was on my bucket list. I hope to experience it again but I will not be doing it with this company. I went from the reviews I read when I made my choice but unfortunately our experience didn’t line up with others. I understand things can happen but tour companies and guides need to realize people pay high prices and travel great distances to have once in a lifetime experiences. It was very disappointing and not worth traveling 4200 miles for.
My 11 year old daughter and I booked a three hour fishing trip. Our guide was prompt, knowledgeable, well spoken, and very cool. He set everything up and while the ice fishing started slow, by the end my daughter out-fished her old man - and she caught two fish without a pole just using a line and hook. Lol. The experience is something she'll keep forever and I could not be happier about that. I was thoroughly impressed with our guide - i believe his name was Jake. If you are looking for a good experience,,I recommend talking to Reel Adventures and this crew. Good time to be had
Jake was super nice and guided us through all the steps even tho it’s our first time fishing. We did both inside the heated tent and outside and it was very fun! The lake was also quiet and beautiful in a snowy winter.
This was an amazing ice fishing experience in Alaska! It was really cold outside but we were able to fish inside a warm tent which was awesome!! Jake our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. He was so helpful with anything we needed during our time. We caught several fish. Overall this was a great adventure!! Thanks Jake!!
Jake was amazing. He went above and beyond for everyone in our group and made sure we all caught a fish. Highly recommend. Great day.
Jake was an absolute amazing guide! He knew everything about outdoors, hunting, and of course fishing and everything that comes with it. During this tour, 2 people changed dates so it was just Jake and I going fishing. It was my first time, so I was super nervous cause I didn’t know what I was doing. Jake taught me everything I needed to know and let’s just say I caught a freakin Northern Pike! she’s coming home with me for an amazing Alaskan fish dinner. Jake was super helpful and all honesty I felt like I was with one of my pals back home. Enjoy a rainy day out on the lake catching some fish and enjoying some good vibes. All I needed was a beer in my hand and some good music lol If you’re looking for something to do while you’re in Fairbanks, Alaska. Come and ask for Jake. You won’t regret it! -Jen
Jake was a great guide. He explained to us in details about the types of fish in the lake and so much more. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to catch anything but Jake was very transparent in letting us know that it may be a possibility. Regardless it was a great experience for me and my mom! Thank you!
I caught my first fish! It was a fun an experience! My guide was Jake and it was nice set up and he guided me through my first fishing experience
Great experience. Jake was on time.. he was extremely helpful and friendly. Totally recommend booking with him
Jake is a great guide very knowledgeable and helpful. It was a sunny day had a great time in Olnes pond ice fishing . Was lucky to catch a 36 inch Burbot .
Excellent Trip . Jake was great. He picked up on time and we spent 3 hours in Olnes Pond . First catch was a small Burbot, however second one was huge measuring 36 inches . Weather was great and it was an awesome trip with a big catch !
Jake was super friendly, very knowledgeable, patient, and an all around fantastic guide. Great with me who “thinks” he knows a lot about fishing, and even better with my wife and daughter that might just be more interested in fishing now! Jake comes with high recommendations from my family!
I had never thought about ice fishing... I have seen it in movies and cartoons, but never considered doing it myself. When I saw the option to do it on viator, I thought, "Let's try it!" Boy I'm glad I did! It was so fun! I was in a cabin with really nice people. Since it was warm we took also spent some time fishing outside. I didn't catch anything, but that's how it goes sometimes. I learned so much, and enjoyed myself. We also got to see a bald eagle up close! She's a regular there... hoping to get some fish too! Great experience. The reindeer sausage was so good. We shared the 5 fish that the group caught, and our guide, Trevor was great. He was running around doing so much and making sure everyone was taken care of. He also helped to lure the eagle in close with some fish heads! Thanks for an awesome experience, Trevor!
Jake was a great tour guide! He was very helpful and informative. I was able to catch two fishes during my time. Really enjoyed the experience
🎣 Fishing is probably the thing I'm least skilled at, but my guide has always been smiling. Helped me find schools of 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟 on different areas of the ice. We've roasted marshmallows together, shared many stories and laughter. I really like him! 😊 Hoping next summer in Alaska, he can teach me bear hunting 🐻, and he's welcome to explore my beloved New Zealand too.
Jake was an amazing guide. He taught me the ins and outs of fishing. Although I was the only one there, Jake made sure I was kept entertained and kept having me switch different types of rod and bait to increase my chances of a catch. Would def recommend to anyone.
Jacob the guide was great. We rated it average because it’s very expensive for what you get plus the pre comm was poor. We had to spend 30 minutes outside in -32 trying to get Wi-Fi to buy license. We only caught 2 fish in 90 minutes between the 3 of us so called it quits after 2 hours. Don’t reco
Ice fishing is definitely an experience you have to do! Jacob our guide was very knowledgable, friendly, good company and assisted us with catching our fish!
Amazing experience!! The ice fishing for me is something I always wanted to try, but was impossible at the places i have been to before. Our tour guide was Jacob, who was born and rised in Alaska, and who is very enthautisaism about fishing, hunting, nature and wildlife in Alaska. His knowlage is outstanding, which made the experiance really unice. I think its a must, if you visiting Alaska!
It was my first time and I had a great time. Jake was very helpful and had a great deal of knowledge and expertise on how to catch the fish. I would definitely recommend him to my friends and look forward to meet him in my next fishing trip as well. Thank you Jake and thank you Reel Alaskan Adventures.
THIS WAS AMAZING! I have never been fishing before and when I decided to come to Alaska, this was an activity I knew I had to do. I'm so glad I did! Jake was amazing and was really educated on fishing as well as the local area and more. He even gave some really good hiking and visiting suggestions for the rest of my stay. I didn't feel I was fishing with an "instructor" but more a chill and fun guy who was just there to have a good time too. You could tell he loves fishing and all things outdoors. I really liked that vibe. I ACTUALLY CAUGHT A FISH! We moved from the heated room to the ice holes outside and I'm so glad we did. The weather was nice and the scenery was beautiful and we all caught fish immediately. We chatted the whole time and then Jake went to go prep our fish towards the end so we can eat it and it was so so so good! I highly recommend this activity as well as trying to book Jake as your guide because I guarantee you'll have so much fun you won't even notice the time to by :) thank you for the amazing memory!!
Jack was an excellent guide, very friendly and gave good information about the area. Thank u. I got a fish.
