Exceptional experience - the staff were really enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and we were lucky enough to see lots of hump back whales!
This was the second time we've been on this experience and it was amazing both times. Warm drinks were available on board, take some snacks with you and be prepared with clothing to suit the weather.
WOW! That was probably one of the most incredible experiences of my life. We got to see around 8 different whales, plus dolphins. Everything was very well organised and punctual, and our guide was great at finding the animals and explaining the types, their characteristics, and encouraging the participants on a very cold night. We did the tour during summer, with the midnight sun, which made everything even more magical. It was quite a long trip since we were there for a few hours, until past midnight, just admiring the animals and the beautiful views.
Beautiful ride and respectful with the whales. The explanations by the crew were really interesting along with the professional pictures taken, which allows you to focus in enjoying the live experience.
The guide we had on 9/5/2026 for our 3-hour watch was fantastic!!! She was knowledgeable, funny and informative we learned a lot about whales as well as the birds we saw in the fjord. I must add the whole crew was great! They work with other companies to help spot the whales and share information as well as use what is gathered for important research. Our Captain also kept the appropriate distance from the whales protect them and keep them from stress. The area where we traveled, Eyjafyordur is calm, so we had no one on board that got seasick. We were lucky to spot and photograph Sparkly - a humpback whale (assumed to be male whale until it can be confirmed)! We were able to watch him surface, blow and dive along with a few other whales in the distance. There were jackets on board in case we got too cold, plus snacks and drinks which were reasonably priced. Highly recommend this outfit!
Had a fantastic trip with plenty of whale sightings as well as seeing some porpoises. The ship was lovely with superb viewing points from up top as well as a comfy seating area down below. The crew were very good and particularly the guide who was incredibly knowledgable and informative. One of the best trips I have been on - thoroughly recommend.
Fantastic crew: very knowledgeable and interesting commentary. Spacious boat with good views inside and out. Downloadable photos of whales included. Bar serves hot drinks and snacks that are reasonably priced. Excellent value for money.
Absolute highlight of the trip! Great and knowledgeable staff, with a lot of useful information. It was clear there was a lot of respect for the whales and the environment. Also a fantastic boat where there was plenty of space to sit inside and outside. We saw 5 whales many times. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
This is a fantastic experience. The scenery is amazing. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and we always felt safe. And while it was windy which is typical, we didn’t feel an ounce of sea sickness.
We saw no less than eight individual humpbacks and at least 30 sightings of these whales. They were feeding so they did a lot of showing their backside and their tail fins, which was absolutely stunning. One of them even came within 20 m of our boat. I only wish the boat had had some outside seating. All of the seating was inside, and it was very crowded once you got to the top and very difficult to get a good point of view.
It was a great experience! We saw porpoises and spent a good amount of time watching a friendly whale. The overalls really helped to manage the cold winds. Our guide was very knowledgeable about all of the wildlife living in and around the area.
It was a great trip. We saw whales close up. The guide was knowledgeable and the weather better than expected
Just your average whale watching experience. We drove out for 1 hour to find two humpback whales. Stayed on them for an hour, then drove back to port.
Suberb Whale watching trip. Very well organised. Great guide. Knew her stuff. Once in a lifetime experience. Ample time to watch....no rush.
Very good trip Friendly and knowledgable guide We were given a link to get photos taken by the team and other passengers in case we missed some of the whales
Great excursion we booked via aviator at half the cost of the cruise excursion. Walkable from the port. Not too long and not too short. I know we’re not promised to see whales, but we were so lucky! We saw two whales and one went up and flipped over twice!!! Full breach. It was great. My daughter loved it as well.
It was great! All communication was done well and staff was friendly. Tourguide knew a lot, and the whale vieuwing was wonderfull.
It was a cool, rainy day just as anticipated in Iceland. The gear provided kept us comfortable to enjoy the adventure. Our guide was fabulous. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of the whales and other wildlife was contagious. We saw numerous whales, dolphins, and jellyfish. It was a fulfilling day.
The boat was a short 15 min walk from the cruise port. The crew was helpful and friendly and the scenery was beautiful. The tour was advertised as 3 hours but it took 90 minutes just to get out far enough to see one whale. I realize you are taking your chance when you go whale watching but it would have been nice to see more than 30 minutes of one whale.
We had a great experience. Saw 5 or 6 humpback whales including 1 or 2 close to the boat. We were super super lucky that morning seeing so many whales. Knowledgeable guide too explaining about whales and helping us spot them. A highlight of the trip They even sent you photos of the whales they took during the cruise. Sent as a link to download after the cruise which wasn't expected!
We had a great experience. The guide was experienced and gave us a lot of information. We saw multiple whales and dolphins. It was cold and rainy but they provided some overalls that keep us warm and dry.
Very good experience.......
Amazing tour. A highlight of our trip. I know luck plays a lot in this, but we were so lucky to have seen 6 whales on our boat trip on September 2nd. The whales swam really close along our boat. The whole family had an amazing experience.
I really enjoyed the whale watching experience, the information provided by the guide/staff throughout the trip was informative and interesting, the boat itself was really well equipped and provided an excellent view of all the whale sightings and the cost of the experience, when considering the length of the visit and the opportunities it provides, is very good.
Amazing experience. Was really cold on the water and hands started going pink but worth it as we saw whales up close. I get that it's a risk as whales aren't guaranteed but thought it was worth the risk. Just make sure you bring very warm clothes if you're going in December.
Great. We appreciated the whole experience and the long trip in the fjord. The Captain gave us an extra hour of sailing and we could see more whales. It was a sunny day we were lucky. Guide was well prepared and very active in whale watching, so we could observe very close and better understand these wonderful mammals. Admission fee was justified. Boat was not crowdy and people could move freely and confortably. Best for families and elderly people.
What a fun time on the boat riding out to see the whales. We got lucky and got to see three wales. Fun trip
This was an incredible excursion for us - The guide gave a play by play on what was going on and where to look….it was fascinating to actually see the whales. I advise layering clothing- it did get chilly and windy but that just added to the experience!!
Fantastic experience. Well organized , boat was clean Operater was experienced to take us near the whales with responsibility and at a safe and respectful distance from the whales. Stayed additional time as whale was still visible Good commentary during the trip , encouraged us to ask questions. Encouraged us to just watch and experience instead of concentrating more taking photos. Photos taken by team was made available after the trip free of charge
This was a rewarding trip for us We did not anticipate we can see whales The boat leaves from downtown harbour and it was a bright and sunny day as a bonus The boat ride about close to 45 min and the boat was fully booked We learnt about the behaviour , various types how they breathe, how they take a deep dive and resurface after a few minutes. We also learnt how to tell the sex of the whales. The guides know the whales by their name. On the boat there were videos and messages about anti-whaling especially not to go to restaurant which serve whale meat! At first the sea was calm as it was inside the fjord, but once it reaches the open area the sea began to show white caps and get cold! The close encounter was close to about half an hour. If one misses the opportunity in photographing the whale one can scan the ends of the ticket to get a free photo of the whales There are lots of choices of expedition, for example by motor boat which is fast with close encounter experience at the expense of being cold and wet but there is no bathroom relief. As we were elderly we can space out and go inside the cabin when it gets cold picking the large vessel as our choice
Absolutely fantastic whale-watching experience! 🐋 The crew was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the whales and the ocean. We saw these incredible animals up close and learned so much along the way. Beautiful scenery, great atmosphere, and an unforgettable experience in Iceland. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experiance! An idescribably wonderful day. Our family we will never forget! ❤️❤️❤️
Good experience, but we couldn't understand the guide. She was very enthusiastic, but we couldn't understand her.
This excursion was one of the highlights of our trip. The crew was amazing. A blue whale approached our boat and lingered around for a while. It was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this excursion.
While seeing a whale isn’t guarantee, the guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and always encouraged everyone to ask questions. The boat ride was rough - but going fast increases the whale watching time, so that’s great. The free access to the coffee machine was awesome to warm up. Would recommend :)
Lovely trip, guides and experience. The staff were so knowledgeable and informative, lots of positive information and about the sightings. The marine life was amazing to see and I loved every moment
Took this trip on August 11th. Even though the weather was beautiful- It was a cold boat ride. Don’t be fooled-dress warm!! It was a different trip than Alaska for comparison, but we saw whales.
It was a very special experience. Everything was well organised, and the guide was knowlegeable and enthusiastic. We found a group of three humpback whales feeding. They kept going down into the deep to feed and then coming back up for a while. The ship followed them around for some. It was difficult to know where exactly they would come back up. By following them a few times they managed to once get very close. There was lots of oooh-ing and aaaah-ing of the crowed when they showed their arched backs (a bit like dolphins, just not fully airbound) right next to the ship, and later their tailfins when they dived back down, one after the other. The tour was a bit over 3 hours long, I think even 3 1/2 hours. After the tour, we all got a link to photographs taken by the crew. So if you prefer just to watch without looking through the phone/camera all the time, you can do so. Or if you just didn't catch them in the right moment, you'll get some beautiful pictures anyway.
Very informative and experienced guides, learned a lot, saw some whales, and enjoyed the opportunity to be inside in the heat or outside on the decks at will.
Great guide and an excellent experience! We saw Northern Bottlenose Whales.
Great experience. We DID SEE whales!
Very knowledgeable about the area and environment. Friendly staff on and off the boat Right length of time
Have done whale watches before but this was by far the best. Saw orcas and humpbacks The humpbacks were amazing and breached repeatedly, including one time just a few feet from our small boat splashing us in sheets of water. Fortunately we were wearing jumpsuits provided by the tour. The small boat is clearly the way to go
Amazing experience, well organized, on time, nice crew, and the most important we saw whales:) ps: hot beverages available during the trip and are included in the ticket price.
We did the express rib tour, and it was incredible. The guides were amazing and very informative. We saw several humpback whales, one that was very active, jumping, and orcas. The guide informed us they are normally only seen in January and February. Highly recommend the tour.
This was the highlight of an already amazing trip to Iceland. We took our two granddaughters on a trip and they will never forget especially this !! We saw so many whales performing for us as though they were mechanical. One came close enough to come aboard. ( exciting beyond any expectations ). don’t miss this
We had a different whale watching excursion booked which cancelled on us the day before we were supposed to go. Whale Watching Akureyri came up as a top option and we’re so glad we booked it! While it took over an hour to find the whales, we still saw three of them and it was beautiful! They also let you download the photos they take on the tour as well in case you missed them. If you get cold they do have warm overalls that you can wear, too.
Exceptional experience! Watching the wales and learning about them as well as watching beautiful sunset! I recommend it to anyone!
Took the "Midnight Tour" from 8:30 pm to midnight. Most of the time was just spent motoring at high speed to get to and back from where the whales were found. However, once located we saw many Humpback whales swimming all around us for probably 20 minutes or so before we had to start back to port. In my opinion this made the trip worthwhile. My only recommendation is to come prepared with wet/cold weather clothing. Although the description said warm overalls were provided none of the guests were offered any that I'm aware of so you need to rely on what you bring. I was surprised by this as we did a whale tour out of Husavik the day before and everyone was issued warm overalls that we were required to wear. Overall, the trip was great. It wasn't overcrowded at all and the staff were fantastic. The seating inside was warm and cosy with light refreshments available. I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone just as long as you come dressed accordingly.
