I left my gloves at the reception and emailed them if they could maybe mail them to me as the gloves are very important to me. I got a response from Natalia and she was so kind from the start. She promised to find out if that would be possible. But actually then I got a message that Natalia could deliver them to me herself at Reykjavik where I was at the time and had one more day before going home. She came there the next day for personal things but still on her free time was willing to bring and sort out the delivery of the gloves for me. She absolutely didn’t have to do that, but was kind enough to even suggest that. I then picked them up in Reykjavik and was ever so happy to have my gloves back. Natalia thank you so much!!! Even when we first arrived at the reception to go to this horse trip Natalia was so welcoming and warm, so we felt very nice to start the trip. This is outstanding customer service all throughout from Natalia! That’s a good credit for the company for sure!

Beautiful area. Horses were gentle and easygoing. Enjoyed learning about their history and taking in the spectacular landscape by horseback. Our guide was enthusiastic and clearly loved her job and the horses. Bring gloves and wam clothes - a hat that can fit under a helmet. Highly recommend and would do again!! Thank you for the lifetime experience!
Awesome ride for beginners!...my husband and I never rode horses before; we had so much fun and the staff was super helpful. They take you on a beautiful scenic route in the fields and near a gorgeous waterfall.
Excellent experience from start to finish! Fantastic, engaged, friendly and knowledgeable staff both in the booking and on the ride. Beautiful trail with amazing scenery and optimal photo ops. There was a mix of older and younger participants and all were having a terrific time. Highly recommend this experience in Iceland!!
We had a great experience with the guides, the horses and scenery was amazing.
The riding was a lovely experience. The leaders were very welcoming and friendly, the horses were beautiful and the scenery stunning. It was definitely a highlight of the holiday.
Excellent tour and a great way to see more of this gorgeous island. Tour guides were patient and allowed you to experience the ride and experience the tölt, a special gait only known to Icelandic horses. They also got pictures at the waterfall tucked away. Highly recommend.
This was such an amazing experience! The staff were very friendly, and the scenery was beautiful.
Nice setting and great experience. Thoughtful guidance for inexperienced riders. There was a little timing issue for getting the horses ready but they offered a drink.
This riding experience was excellent! We decided to book it again the following day. The horses were lovely and so well behaved, we felt very safe on them and was even shown how to do the tolt, which was amazing! The guides were brilliant and helped all of the riders as well as providing us with knowledge as we rode the tracks. Would definitely recommend!
One of the top highlights of our Iceland trip!! Maddie was such a lovely guide. My partner and I had no riding experience but these horses were so gentle and easy to ride. The only thing to be aware of is that there are three different Hestasport locations (the reception, the stables, and the accommodation cottages). We accidentally drove to the cottages instead of the reception, so we were running a little late, but once we got to the reception, everything was very clear and easy. Highly recommend booking this experience if you are in Iceland!!
Amazing ride!!!! Our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. Horses were super nice and amazing and fun to ride. The view was breathtaking even in the beginning of November. We got to say hi to the other horses after the ride and it was awesome! Definitely recommend!! Wish we knew they provide three-hour ride before we booked the one-hour ride. But, that gives us a reason to come back haha.
Great horses snd wonderful guides who made you feel everyone feel comfortable on very well behaved horses Scenery was spectacular
From the front desk check-in to dismounting our rides, each staff member and guide was so kind and knowledgeable. Reykjavoss Waterfall was lovely and the hills so green. Don't forget your gloves, ear warmers and gators!
100/10 would recommend!!! it was so fun and the horses are beautiful! the landscape is stunning and the guides were fantastic
We had a wonderful afternoon ride with Lara. She was very attentive and informative. The tolting was amazing, the walk to the falls was beautiful, and the river crossing (while watching another herd of horses cross the bridge) was an added bonus! A great experience overall.
Great experience, guides were realy helpful - helped my 8 yr son to control his horse. Beautiful views on the route. Definitely would do this again.
So much fun and the people were very nice and ensured we had everything we needed. The horses were well behaved and gentle.
Amazing time! Our guide (I think her name was Helena) was so nice and helpful. We had tons of fun and would definitely recommend!!!
Excellent guides, good horses, engaging guides. Enjoyed riding in the snow and about 28 degrees F to the Reykjafoss waterfall overlook. Got to tolt on the trails. Safety gear and coveralls provided. Such a memorable ride.
Incredible experience! Very professional, and well cared for and trained horses. I was fortunate to have a private ride, and enjoyed seeing a gorgeous waterfall and taking in the mountains. I was thankful to use the overalls they have to be warmer from the wind. Very much recommended ❤️
Me and my partner had an amazing experience with hestasport. It was an out of this world experience being able to ride through the snowy landscape and see the waterfall. We were very lucky as it’s quiet this time of year and we’re the only ones on the tour - our guide was lovely and really friendly making sure we were confident and happy as we went on. The horses were lovely and we would definitely book again if we were returning to the area. We also stayed at the cottages which were also run by Hestasport and again was a wonderful experience, definitely make sure to check it out if you are staying over the night in this area you won’t be disappointed.
This was definitely a highlight of our recent ten-day trip to Iceland! The horses were calm, sure-footed and well trained. Our guide Franca was amazing - she gave us a lot of tips that made the ride fun and relaxing for riders of all experience levels (including two with no previous riding experience). The setting was beautiful and we had a great time!
The views were great! Guides were very professional and very knowledgeable about horses. I ended up being the only person on the tour. The other couple messed up dates and got stuck due to weather. This made it that much more enjoyable. The guides go at your own pace and experience level. You go past a wonderful waterfall! Highly recommend if you find yourself in the area!
This was such a fun experience! It was my husband’s first time ever riding a horse and he loved it. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and went over the basics really well. The ride was a little over 1.5 hours along a gorgeous path/trail that went next to the river and turned around at the waterfall. Our guide took some great photos of us on the horses in front of the waterfall too! I wouldn’t have minded some tips or extra guidance during the ride (like tips for trötting) but we had so much fun. The horses are adorable and it was great to experience their personalities during the ride. Highly recommend!!
Amazing experience - none of us had tried riding before, but super instructions and guidence made it a succes! Everyone can do this, the biggest challenge is getting on the horse ;)!
Great guide and amazing setting for horseback riding. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore Icelandic horses and the countryside.
Our host was calm & sympathetic. We were offered a warm beverage. Indications were clear & complete. Our guide was warm, kind and knowledgeable. Everything was as advertised. We loved it. Thanks again !
We highly recommend this experience. My wife and I are on our honeymoon, and we did the 90 minute tour on our horses Dewey and Fingett (spelling??). Both horses were very tame yet fun to ride. Our guide Julia was excellent and made us feel at ease, and even let us do the TÖLT fast walk on them. I'm not an experienced rider but it was fun. Amazing views, great time. Thank you!
What a beautiful break from the car. The countryside is breathtaking. Our guide was informative and entertaining. She allowed us to try the different walking patterns of the horses which was appreciated since this was our first time on the Icelandic breed.
Absolute lovely horse ride through the beautiful landscape of iceland. We went to a nice waterfall and even got the chance to try the famous tölt gait. The experience was great and we even were able to get some hot drinks after the ride. Thanks again <3
The scenery at the location was breathtaking, and I had the privilege of enjoying a private tour since I was the sole participant. Despite the chilly weather, they provided me with an overall to layer over my clothes and a helmet. Their attention to my comfort ensured a fantastic experience. The waterfall we visited was stunning. I even got to experience the tölt, a unique gait that distinguishes the Icelandic horse from other breeds.
Guides were great! It ended up being just my husband and I due to previous days weather but we ended up getting a great day! Love how the horses trot ot makes an easy ride- wish we could go faster but that just my personal wish :)
We did the tour twice because it was so amazing. An unforgettable experience with great guides, the best horses, and views!
This tour was amazing! Once in a lifetime experience riding through the scenic mountains. Our guide (Felecia) was amazing! So kind and so helpful, even got us the perfect group photo in front of a waterfall. The horses were the stars! Fed them a well deserved treat at the end.
Lovely host and guide , stunning nature and mostly wonderful horses ……….. We really had a super nice ride and can’t recommend this trip enough . For sure we will file back given the opportunity - perhaps now we have tried the winter ride it would be nice to come back and experience in the summer
Our host Eli was fantastic. The tour was beautiful and we got to do many things like cross a river/ switch gates/take pictures in front of a waterfall. Highly recommend!
My husband and I were very fortunate to have our first horse riding experience in a beautiful Icelandic landscape. This was the one of our best experience during this trip.
It was amazing!!! The girls that took us riding took their time to explain how to ride the horses and then we went for this beautiful, scenic ride along the river!!! Highly recommend this tour!!!
We had a truly wonderful time with our guides Sara and Felicia. Our kids, 7&10, were given gentle horses and loved every minute of it. They took us over the fields, we did a river crossing and even got to take pictures in front of a pretty waterfall. We were even able to re-schedule our ride due to weather issues; they went out of their way to fit us in! A wonderful experience for the whole family, cannot recommend it enough! Thanks to the whole team!
Our outride with Frökk, Bokki and Felicia was just magical and such a special experience. The horses are living out in a herd and were very well cared for by the knowledgeable and kind staff. The ride was wonderful, our horses were well matched to us (me being an experienced rider and my partner a confident beginner). I had a smile on my face the whole time and loved experiencing the tölt, but also to chat to Felicia and Sara about all things horsey and Icelandic. Thank you so much for a wonderful time. PS the weather was frosty with a bit of wind, but the provided riding overalls kept us warm and cosy. I can only recommend this to any horse lover.
I really cannot add anything that the previous review hasn't already said! This was a "bucket list" experience for my wife, who thoroughly enjoyed the whole event, especially as it was a 1:1 ride with Felicia (I hope I have spelt that correctly!). We didn't finish the movie before we set off. so my wife watched it back at the hotel that night!!
We arrived early to check in for the horse riding which wasn’t a problem. We we’re offered a hot drink and asked if would like to watch a film about Icelandic horses while we waited for the other riders to arrive. We signed the usual disclaimer and were given a map to the stables where our horses were waiting. We were greeted by Sarah (from Belgium but impeccable English) who asked us all what experience we had around horses and riding. We all were fitted with riding hats (properly) and Sarah gave us a demonstration of the basic riding commands and the ‘rules’ for when we were out riding. Namely to make sure we didn’t let our horse overtake hers. (Or we would have to buy her a drink.) Then we all met our horses who were tacked up in a closed pen. Once mounted up and stirrups checked we set off. There were 5 riders altogether on our ride and two instructors. Sarah at the front and Lisa at the back. Only two of us had any real riding experience but we all tried out the tolt. We could ask to stop at anytime and Sarah watched to make sure we we all seated safely. We wound our way across country crossing a stream and along the river to a waterfall where Sarah took lots of pictures of us so we have a lasting memory of our ride. It was a fantastic ride the scenery was stunning and the horses very well schooled and so responsive. Riding in Iceland is like no other riding I have experienced. Even though we were of mixed ability everyone in our party enjoyed it. I would love to come back to this particular stables and enjoy more time riding. As an experienced rider I found the whole experience magical and my husband who has zero experience felt safe too. Sarah was a perfect instructor with an easy confident manner that instilled confidence in even the most nervous rider. Once back at the stables we were able to feed our horses treats and have more photos taken with them. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough and we would definitely come and ride here again
Our favourite tour in Iceland so far (Viking Tour). Everything was perfect. We arrived at the reception and was greeted by the lovely staff who directed us to the stables. It was a short drive to the stables where we met our guide Julia. She was so kind and talked us through everything before showing us the horses. She spoke excellent English throughout the tour and was so lovely to chat too. She answered all our questions and really made us laugh. We were given snow suits as it was winter and riding hats. Our horses were so friendly and had fabulous personalities. We then embarked on our journey which lasted around an hour and a half. We were taken to a beautiful waterfall and got to try out different speeds on the horses. Julia checked in with us regularly to make sure we were okay and if we were too cold etc. Once the tour was finished, we got to spend some time with the horses and gave them some treats. They then offered us hot chocolate back at the office to warm up which was just perfect. Thank you for making our trip so magical!
Fantastic shorter tour. Loved every second. Went to the great waterfall, tried out the tolt - despite not being a great rider, our guide Julia was brilliant, spoke good English, making sure we felt safe and comfortable throughout. The horses were wonderful and a real highlight of our holiday.
It was snowing but our ride was still very beautiful, the 90 minutes was also a great value for price. Great location as well and friendly horses
my wife and I took the horse riding tour this morning, we loved it, the young ladies that were our guides were wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable, very professional and made the ride not only interesting but such fun. The story of the Champuon Horse and rider was heartwarming and sad to know that once a horse leaves Iceland, it may never return. Our guides were Giulia and Gracina, if you are luck enough to be placed in the care of these two young ladies. You can rest assured you will be well taken care of. thank you ladies for your time and a wonderful, if chilly (lol), morning.
The riding guide was very friendly, gave us a brief orientation, and then the tour started right away. We were able to try out the tölt. The group was small with four guests, so individual needs were addressed. We were offered a rain jacket. We made it to Reykjafoss and a short photo break was taken. The horses were selected beforehand based on riding experience. We received questions about this in advance via the booking portal.
A superb experience in a remote area ideal for horseback riding. Very warm welcome with restrooms and hot chocolate. Then we head to the stables, 5 minutes away by car. Just as warm a welcome from our 2 passionate guides for 8 people. Equipment and explanations before the horses are assigned. Off for a 1.5-hour ride through magnificent spaces, concluding with a magnificent waterfall. Really great. Highly recommended.
Very relaxed horses in beautiful nature. Our guides explained horseback riding perfectly even for absolute beginners and reliably led us through meadows, rocks, rivers, and slopes.
