Really relaxing time in a superbly designed facility! Friendly staff and everything you can think of was provided. We used the facility at the end of our stay in Akureyri and the staff securely stored our luggage and arranged a taxi to the airport.

Itinerary
At Forest Lagoon, we believe that truly unforgettable experiences are created through thoughtful details. Nestled in the heart of Vaðlaskógur forest and overlooking one of Iceland’s longest fjords, Eyjafjörður, this geothermal spa offers a rare blend of serenity, nature, and modern comfort. Surrounded by birch and pine trees, guests are invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with the calming energy of the forest. The lagoon features two geothermal pools. The larger pool (530 m²), kept at a soothing 37°C (98.6°F), includes three swim-up bars and a convenient indoor entrance. The smaller pool (330 m²) maintains the same relaxing temperature, offering a quieter space to unwind. Enhance your experience in the Finnish-style dry sauna, where temperatures reach around 80°C with low humidity. From here, enjoy panoramic views of Eyjafjörður and the surrounding mountains. For the ultimate refresh, step into the nearby cold pool, cooled to 11°C (51.8°F), and discover the invigorating benefits of hot and cold contrast bathing. Complete your visit at the Forest Bistro, a wood-clad dining space with fjord views and a cozy indoor fireplace

Forest Lagoon was an incredible experience from start to finish. It felt super private and had beautiful scenery to enjoy from every spot. All of the staff were friendly and available if needed. I spent around two hours there, but would have stayed longer if my schedule allowed it. The admission fee was also very reasonable, especially compared to other lagoons. Compared to the famous Sky Lagoon, I enjoyed the Forest a lot more. It had less guests and I enjoyed being nestled along the forest. If you’re looking for a secluded spot to unwind and relax, Forest Lagoon is the perfect spot!
It was an enchanting experience sitting in the lagoon with the snow falling. Forest Lagoon is large and it never felt crowded. We really enjoyed our time.
We had a lovely experience at Forest Lagoon in Akureyri. The staff gave us a warm welcome, and our package included a drink and a towel. The views are beautiful, and the whole atmosphere is perfect for relaxing. Even though there were quite a lot of people, it was surprisingly peaceful and quiet. In the evening, the beautiful lighting makes the atmosphere even more special. The showers, toilets, and changing rooms were all clean and well-maintained. Overall, a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. Definitely worth a visit and highly recommended!
A phenomenal Lagoon, great atmosphere, quiet and remote, less crowded!
This was a nice relaxing stop in our day! Everything was very nice from check in to the. I’ve locker rooms and lagoon.
Through TripAdvisor we easily booked a 3:00 PM time slot online for my spouse and me. Our passes included two towels and one drink each. Since we do not drink alcohol, we were very pleased to find a great selection of non-alcoholic options available. Easy & Free Transportation: We used the free Forest Lagoon shuttle offered at the cruise port for both pickup and return. Great Schedule: Choosing an afternoon slot gave us plenty of time to walk around and explore the town beforehand. On our walk, we easily spotted the posted sign for the shuttle with clear pickup times and location. Minimal Wait: They had two vans operating, so we only waited about 5 minutes to head to the spa and about 10 minutes on our return to the port. It was a short drive to and from the Spa, maybe 10 - 15 minutes. Check-In process: Check-in was quick, but staff did not explain the mandatory hygiene protocols before entering the pools. I had read several reviews beforehand, so we knew what to do, but a large sign or a quick explanation at check-in is needed. Locker Rooms: Both the men’s and women’s locker rooms felt incredibly overcrowded, due to a cramped space for lockers, seating, and standing to be able to change and get dressed comfortably. A considerable percentage of the guests seemed confused and completely uninformed of the hygiene protocols and the additional issue of overcrowding, created chaos and unwelcome stress. Inconsistent Staff: The women's locker room attendants were polite and helpful when trying to educate and assist the guest's. However, my spouse noted that the men's attendants were quite rude, speaking to guests with anger and frustration when protocols weren't followed correctly. Geothermal Pools & Sauna: Once you exit the stressful chaos of the locker room, the experience is wonderful and relaxing. Just outside the locker rooms, there is a communal area with wall hooks for towels and a space for flip flops/slides. We used one hook to hang our towels together. Unfortunately, one of our towels was taken by mistake, but an attendant quickly gave me a replacement. Not Crowded: The pools and sauna did not feel overcrowded at all. We stayed for about 2 hours, comfortably moving from one area to another, and felt wonderful at the end. Even with the chaotic locker room at the start and end of our visit, we enjoyed the Forest Lagoon experience and would absolutely go again. Highly recommend for cruise passengers, just be prepared for an uncomfortable changing area and getting undressed with strangers.
This was SO needed during our long camping trip in Iceland! The facilities are so nice and clean. The pool is expansive and picturesque, and the bracelet system makes everything so convenient. We loved every second and thought it was great value!
Lovely location. On arrival you are being given towels (if part of the package) and a wristband. The wristband gives you access to a locker and you pay your drinks with it. Once you are ready to leave, at the gates to exit, there is a machine where you scan your wristband and settle your bill. Easy😁 there are plenty of toilets and lockers. Shower naked before entering the pool (there are cubicles for privacy as well). Body wash, shampoo and conditioner can be found at every shower and smells great. Made my hair very soft. Good selection of drinks at the bar and i think the prices are not even that bad for a place like this and we also had a drink each included in the package. Lovely warm waters, plenty of places to float about, sit and relax. We stayed about 2 1/2 hours. Food from the restaurant smelled really good but we never got any as we had other plans. Food truck at the parking as well. We really enjoyed our visit. Normally not our thing maybe but we wanted to try it once while in Iceland as we never done it laat time.
The facilities were clean (other than a bandaid in the pool) and the staff pleasant. It was nice to have room to move about without feeling crowded by others - perhaps we had a quieter time though as it’s certainly built to accommodate at least double the guests in the pool. Nice atmosphere among the trees. Wasn’t expecting the traffic noise from the main road causeway but you got used to it and forgot about it. Couldn’t see as much of the fjord as expected but still pretty. More hair dryers would be helpful as many women were leaving with wet (and this cold) hair - perhaps the wall mounted ones that provide less directed heat that also work for curly hair as well as straight. Secret Lagoon has a good setup.
Extremely relaxing. A wonderful way to spend the afternoon. The pools were very warm and the swim up bar was a bonus. The cold pool was brisk but felt good after the hot lagoon water.
One of my favorite lagoons! Very unique atmosphere and lots to explore. It was rainy when we visited which actually made the experience better. This was the perfect evening activity and would recommend staying a few hours
The place itself was great Don’t count on the free shuttle. They don’t have enough people to run it smoothly. You could wait an hour for a shuttle.
Superior experience with fewer crowds, serene environment, and no gimmicks. So close to Akureyri and reasonable. Glad we put it on our itinerary.
Very clean, friendly and flexible
i didn't want to get the drink included price but was really glad that i did - it really added to the experience. Clean and calm - great views , this is a great place to visit . People there but you could find space fpr the group that you go with. Lovely changing area and such nice clean pools
I had an awesome time at Forest Lagoon. The setup is impressive — there are two geothermal pools with different temperatures, plus a refreshing cold‑plunge pool. You first enter a warm pool in a cozy, partially enclosed setting that feels both relaxing and atmospheric. Access to drinks was super easy, which made the experience even better. I’d absolutely do this again the next time I’m in the area.
We loved this place! The free shuttle was great and easy to get to from the cruise port. The lagoon facilities were clean and not over crowded. The views were beautiful. Sipping a drink while soaking up the sun in the clear warm water was divine.
The Forest Lagoon is the most relaxing, peaceful, and unique experience one can have in the north of Iceland!
Lovely and very clean. The water was so relaxing well worth the price for admission. The shuttles were also a bonus.
This lagoon was recommended by a local and my partner and I are so glad we took the advice. It’s very clean, spacious and relaxing with beautiful views. It’s also quiet and the next time we go we will go as the sun is setting because it would be even more magical at night. Be mindful that you do need to shower beforehand in the nude and there are only a very small number of private showers, otherwise they are communal. If you are very shy this might not be the place for you as the shower is mandatory.
The Forest Lagoon is a lovely, well-managed, beautiful, relaxing experience. A bonus was the complimentary shuttle from the cruise port.
Forrest lagoon was well worth the money.
Such a relaxing experience! Loved every minute. Friendly staff.
Wow! This place is magical! The view is beautiful, the staff was super nice, and all the products they have for showering are amazing!!!
Visited Forest Lagoon recently and had a terrible experience. My friend's shoes were stolen/lost during our visit. When we brought this up to the staff at the reception, the only response we got was "I'm not responsible." No empathy, no effort to help, and zero interest in fixing a clear security flaw. They need to update their process and offer locked storage for shoes instead of hiding behind a "not my responsibility" attitude. Would not recommend until they fix their security and train their staff.
The Forest Lagoon is amazing and has would highly recommend! Easy, free shuttle from the cruise port and a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. The facilities are new and excellently maintained and they are in the process of building more lagoon space.
A wonderful experience for the family. Beautiful place and tranquil. It could do with some relaxation areas though to take a break from the hot water. Unfortunately my son's trainers were swollen whilst we were there. As we were on holiday and travelling he didn't have any other footwear. The incident was dealt with very well by management, who helpfully provided some sliders. However we were warned not to leave our shoes on the racks in future as this is a regular occurrence. We thought that it was mandatory to take our shoes off and leave outside the changing rooms due to the shoe removal policy. If this is a regular occurrence then they need to warn customers and advise them to put them in their lockers.
Facility was very clean and lagoon crystal clear and perfect temperature.
This was the only day of our Iceland tour which was rainy and overcast but it didn’t matter at all because we were in the Forest Lagoon. It is very well organised, the hot lagoon is beautiful and so relaxing. Also the drinks at the swim up bar(s) were absolutely gorgeous. We used the Forest Lagoon transfer which was good but it does get busy and doesn’t operate after certain times so make sure to check if you are using that service. We didn’t want to leave
We loved our time at Forest Lagoon. We picked the calm experience, giving us access to towels and a free drink and it was totally worth it. We didn't feel like the place was overcrowded when we got there, we could easily find quiet spot to enjoy the baths. Everything was clean, bars are accessible directly from the baths, views on the fjord are stunning and the cocktails were fresh and delicious.
This was the most calming and peaceful excursion ever. The water is amazing and the swim up bar fantastic. The community showers were not a big deal at all. The transportation from the cruise port is easy. If you have time, don’t miss this experience.
We were on a cruise around Iceland and wanted to take in one of the geothermal lagoons. We'd heard others were expensive, touristy and overrated. This one was the perfect choice. It's located just outside Akureyri on the north coast. They offer a free shuttle from the cruise port. We had a timed ticket so on arrival we were able to get right in. Others whose ticket was a half hour later had to wait. You get a digital wristband which accesses one of the complimentary lockers used to store your clothes and personal items. It also registers your drink orders from the swim up bar. Everyone needs to have a shower without clothes on before accessing the pool so be aware if you're modest. The pool itself is fabulous....104 degrees F (40 celsius), large with great views over the fjord. There were quite a few people there but it was not crowded. We even got a suntan...up at the Arctic Circle! (Akureyri is famously sunny). One tip...if ordering drinks, have everyone get their own. I ordered one for me and one for my husband since we were each allowed one drink. I was initially charged an extra drink until the problem was identified. The whole complex was clean and relaxing.
Fantastic facilities and friendly staff. We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely go again.
Someone stole our brand new hiking shoes from the locker room. Socks were in them so it was no mistake. They were stolen. No meaningful help from staff. Left with super gross pair of tennis shoes. Now we have no boots for rest of Iceland trip. No compensation offered and we missed our shuttle while looking for the boots.
A bit pricey but nice enough. Wish we had known about the free shuttle from the cruise terminal
It was quite nice. I didn’t know what to expect. It would have been nice to know the expectations ahead of time. Ex: I packed a cover up and didn’t need it. The facility was lovely and runned very efficiently.
With the shuttle being right at the cruise pier it was easy to get to the lagoon. The lagoon was not crowded and not touristy, many locals go to this lagoon. Beautiful view of the fjord. Changing rooms and shower facilities very clean. The drink selection at the swim-up bars is somewhat limited, but this did not lessen the experience. A very reasonable price especially considering transportation was included.
This is a relatively smaller lagoon, but beautiful scenery and clear waters. They have stone tables located through to set your drink of phone on so they won't get wet. They had fun drinks to choose from and a very relaxed atmosphere. My only complaint (if you can call it a complaint) is that the shuttle service to/from the lagoon/city center is rather haphazard. The have a time table on their website, but says they increase frequency during busy times, but they don't say what is considered a busy time and what the frequency may be. We waiting about 20 minutes to get to the lagoon and about 30 to get back. There was a long line to leave and it took 3 shuttles to carry everyone back, but there was only 1 shuttle running, even though a second shuttle actually drove right past us while we were all waiting. We didn't care since we knew we had plenty of time to get back to the ship and we were all still very relaxed from the lagoon and drink.
Our group ranged in age from 13 to 84. Everyone enjoyed their morning at your property. The free shuttle from the cruise port to the property was great although the line was long. We did appreciate that you took people ahead of the line based on appointment times. We would return without hesitation!
Easy to book. And the pier had free transportation. It was a little busy but not bad. Would do it again.
friendly staff. pick up and drop off were smooth. great location. the lagoon experience was well worth it!!
The free shuttle from the port was excellent and the surroundings beautiful. Loved this excursion We went first thing in the morning and there weren’t many people there
Great experience. So relaxed. Arrived at 930am and only a few people there. Staff was friendly. We were very relaxed and the views were fantastic.
Forest Lagoon, a modern and serene oasis, is one of our favorites. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Akureyri. I highly recommend booking in advance and bringing your own robes. They also have a swim-up bar, which is a great way to end the day.
I had a chance to visit the Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon and Forest Lagoon while in Iceland. The Forest Lagoon was by far my favorite! It sits across the harbor from city center, providing great views of Akureyri. There’s plenty of space once you get into the pools providing you with an opportunity to spread out. There’s a couple of swim up bars, a cold plunge and a sauna – all very nice features to make your soak more enjoyable. We visited during July, the busy season…. The Lagoon was operating a shuttle to/from either the cruise port or city center. This was so convenient and saved us the hassle of finding a taxi.
Amazing experience staff very helpful and well priced, loads of room as well. Water was lovely and warm and the scenery was breathtaking.
Despite thinking we'd have to walk to the HOF visitors center to catch a shuttle, there was an official Forest Lagoon shuttle at the cruiseport that later returned us to the cruiseport also. The return is on a schedule, so check the time. With warm (~100F), warmer (~105F) and cold plunge (~55F) pools and a sauna to choose from, we spent most of the time in the 100F pool. It has a swim-up bar, and there are stone tables at the surface of the 4 foot deep water with benches to sit on so you're mostly underwater. A very nice place with beautiful views and friendly staff. If the Icelandic tradition of a naked pre-shower in front of others bothers you, no worries. Both the men's and women's showers have 4 individual shower stalls, each with a door.
Great for a small group or larger party. It is relaxing and exactly what it looks like in movies and advertisements. Relaxing and refreshing
Lovely relaxing place but instructions could be clearer. Was told not to take towels through then got shouted at because I didn't have my towel when I came out. The staff in the ladies changing rooms were so rude!!
