Excellent whale watching. We saw 3 whales and some harbor porpoises. One of the whales was having a good time and really put on a show breaching out of the water 5 or 6 times and then rolling around for a bit before taking a deep rest dive. We bussed over to Dalvik from Siglufjordur. Cool trip including 3 tunnels cut through the hills. Upon arrival, you get fitted and put on a flotation suit. You can use the restroom here first. Then about a quarter mile walk from there to the boat. Takes 30+ minutes to sail out into the fjord where the animals hang out. We meandered there for about 2 hours. Beautiful fjord scenery in the background the whole time. Even spotted a glacier. Got a snack on the trip back to pier, cinnamon biscuit and hot chocolate. Good value for the price. Well run operation, these guys know what they are doing.

It is not a one-in-a-lifetime experience. I have done this at different places around the world. The circumstances are always different and since it is nature, we depend on the animals what we see. On this tour we received an additional coverall, which was not really necessary as there was only a little wind and the water was mostly flat. It takes a bit of time to get out there and then spot the whale(s). We were lucky to find one quickly. This one was pretty predictable. Diving and staying under for 8-9 minutes (sometimes less). We saw it dive about 7-8 times and was able to take some nice photos. In order to do this, you need a good lens and some experience. Later we saw 2 other whales, but when we got closer we didn't spot them anymore. On the way back there was hot chocolate and cinemon rolls. Thanks to or guide from Spain and the skipper.
This was a once in a lifetime experience. We got extremely lucky on our tour. We started by seeing a few dolphins, and then one whale. Soon after, the captain saw multiple whales in the distance and asked if we would be willing to extend our trip to see them. We ended up seeing over 40 humpback whales! Captain and tour guide said it was the most they have ever seen in one trip. Whole trip lasted about 4 hours but was so worth it. Highly recommend!
A fantastic whale watching experience! The tour was very well organised from start to finish, and the guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the local wildlife. We were excited to see multiple humpback whales during the trip, which made for a truly memorable experience. Overall, it was an enjoyable outing and one I would happily recommend to others visiting the area.
Dress warmly for face like hat and scarf. They provide a warm suit to wear but it got chilly in the wind.
Fantastic experience on wooden boat, Mani. Well-organised, full body suit provided (it can be cold on the boat), good briefing then 3 hrs on the water. We saw two minke whales, two pods of harbour porpoises, and over the space of an hour or so repeated sightings of three individual humpback whales. Initially they were distant spouts but we quickly managed to get close enough to recognise individual whales diving with tail flukes in the air. Amazing! Really recommend this experience.
We went today and what an absolute phenomenal experience. The tour guides were superb, so friendly. Didn't gold bsck, once whales shown themselves the captain went straight over giving us the very best experience Cannot thank you enough
Despite the overcast and rainy weather in Akureryi, once we left the harbor, the skies cleared up. We saw a pair of Orcas and a pair of humpbacks, which we saw really close up! Just amazing! I booked the tour because it left from Dalvik, however they were leaving from Akyreryi instead. I was able to meet up with our guide, Klara, in Dalvik and ride with her. She was fantastic and I'm so glad I could ride with her. Book this tour!
We had an amazing time! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we saw three whales during our tour! Highly recommend
Had a fantastic time. At first, we barely saw anything, but after a while, the whales started popping up all over. One even got on its side to wave at us with its fin, and two whales swam in tandem alongside us for a while. Besides that, the scenery was gorgeous. Would absolutely recommend.
Watch out for this UNHONEST company (Arctic Sea Tours in Dalvik)! They are running business in an unhonest way. We wanted to do whale watching in Iceland. Earlier in the day, we were in Husvik trying to do a whale watching tour, but the tour was cancelled due to bad weather. Since we stayed in the Dalvik area later in the day, we called this company and they told me that the weather was good there and they still ran the whale watching tour. But here is the real trick: what they did not tell you was that they would take you to an area where the weather was good but whales were NOT as active as what Dalvik whale watching was famous for. If you google it, you would find out that Dalvik whale watching was advertised for a success rate of 98%. We had a nice weather in the bay area but we did NOT spot a single whale. I thought that we were just unlucky to be one of 2%! But then I found out I was wrong!!! I figured out that this company took us towards the inner bay instead of going out to the sea to watch whales. Their tour guide told me that they did NOT take us to the area where the whales were the most active, because THE WEATHER WAS REALLY BAD THERE! Well, if the weather was bad, I would be fine if they cancelled the tour like North Sailing in Husvik, or tell you the truth and let you decide. But they simply did NOT tell you the truth, and instead just took you to a back-up area where whales were spotty. The view was nice, but we were NOT there for a view in a cold weather for 3 hours! We wanted to see whales, a lot of them! We were disappointed to see NONE! I don’t have the data, but I would highly doubt the success rate of spotting whales in that back-up area would be 98%! You might be really lucky to spot one or two whales. I really regret that I did not pay attention to another bad review I saw earlier, and took a tour with this UNHONEST company. It not only wasted my time and money, but also ruined my vacation mood! And this company did not care about customers at all! When I brought up this issue to them, they simply did not want to talk to me about it – I guess they were upset that I found out that they did business in this TRICKY way. They just told me that they knew what they were doing – I guess they did know, but a lot of people were tricked! Again, be careful when this company tell you that the weather is good for whale watching – you might be simply wasting your time and money like I do. Indeed in a country like Iceland, the weather is bad most of the time even during the summer. You would be very disappointed if you go whale watching with them!
Great experience, the staff on the boat were passionate and ensured we got the most from our trip. We saw five hump back whales and a pod of dolphins. Would go again.
We were here as a group of three; you have to be able to handle the swell, otherwise it gets unpleasant. Otherwise a super nice experience, with sightings of a humpback whale and dolphins.
Excellent experience. The fiord explored for sighting had several whales and the ship's captain did not spare efforts to approach them. Local is practically in the Arctic Circle. We took lots of pictures and saw lots of whales. Value paid was fully justified. Unforgettable tour
We saw several whales. They leave you with a full suit with which you don’t wet anything, even raining, and at the end of the activity they give you a cup of hot chocolate.
I loved it, although almost the whole group ended up a little dizzy from the surf, and in the end three ships chasing the two probable whales felt a little sorry for me.
Three-hour sea trip to go whale watching We were lucky enough to see several Nice crew and detailed explanations
Great staff, extremely friendly and helpful! And the captain really did everything to get us close to the whales and dolphins so we could take nice pictures and enjoy the experience! Always back with Arctic Sea Tours!!
