This was a wonderful tour and Thomas was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. He led us to the most authentic, local and delicious places and the food was all amazing! Go hungry as you will leave quite full. This is a great way to spend some time in Aix en Provence! Highly recommend!
Wonderful food tour in Aix-En-Provence with Thomas! He is welcoming, knowledgeable and local. We appreciated the focus on small, local producers and local specialties. Be sure to come hungry! The food on the tour was plentiful and delicious. The tour was very well-paced, and we learned a lot about the region and its food culture. I’m so glad we booked this on our first morning in Aix, as we now have so many ideas for the rest of our stay here! Truly a special experience.
Thomas was passion personified and it was contagious as we learned about and tasted twenty food samples of the region. Entertaining and knowledgeable, 3 1/2 hours with Thomas flew by.and we ended up extending it with half of the group when we continued on for drinks and dinner. A very special experience and one I would highly recommend.
We spent a delicious 3.5hrs with the delightful Thomas during our first visit to Aix. We have taken many, many walking food tours around the world, and this was one of our favourites by far! Thomas is engaging, passionate, and easy-going. The pace of the tour was very relaxing, and he took the time to explain in detail why he chose the producers and shops that were included in the tour. We learned about the history of some of the products, as well as the difference between authentic and 'touristic' places. Thomas also provided a wealth of information to help us plan the rest of our Aix stay. We highly recommend taking this tour!
If you’re a fan of mixing food and atmosphere in beautiful historic surroundings , this is a tour for you. A very generous time, exploring the smaller local producers of all sorts of local food. From sweet to cheese to vegetables and more, Thomas is the ultimate genial guide. As a child of the agriculture and food life himself, he mixes professional hospitality with friendly banter, as he takes us around the old streets of Aix, away from the tourist traps into the markets and alleyways of the true town. Plenty of tasters to go around , a fantastic lovely morning of gastronomic exploration.
Thomas is a great guide - he has a very good knowledge of the history of Aix en Provence and he is very entertaining! We enjoyed our tour, thanks Thomas!
We had a great experience on this gourmet food tour. Thomas was very friendly, kind and knowledgeable about Provence. We visited different food producers in Aix-en-Provence that we would not have found on our own. It was a very pleasant afternoon and would recommend this tour if you are visiting Aix-en-Provence! We also asked Thomas for restaurant recommendations and he didn't disappoint!
This was the perfect tour to taste some of the most authentic food from Aix en Provence. Thomas is clearly passionate about his heritage and left our taste buds tingling for more. He also made recommendations and promoted the local people of the area which was beautiful.
My daughter and I had a wonderful day with Thomas all to ourselves as the other couple mucked up their booking. What a fantastic taste sensation we had today. We loved all the history and no tourist traps were taken. Our tummies were full and our heads filled with history. We loved our tour!!
I did a walking tour with my mother and Thomas was our guide. We had an amazing time and Thomas is very knowledgeable. You can tell he is valued in the community and offered insightful takes of the area. The food was exceptional and he offered a variety of different options. Even though it was just us three, we had an amazing time. Thomas was friendly and chatty which made the 3 hours fly by!
I had a fantastic experience on this gourmet food tour. We visited a range of authentic local producers and specialist food shops that I would never have discovered on my own. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about the local food scene. Rather than taking us to tourist traps, he introduced us to genuine, high-quality producers and explained the history, traditions and stories behind each product. It felt like a real insight into the local culture, rather than just a food tasting. I also appreciated that after the tour he sent a list of all the places we visited, along with some exclusive offers, so I could return during my stay. I'd highly recommend this tour, particularly if you're new to the city. It's the perfect introduction and, in my opinion, the best way to discover the city before doing anything else.
I had an absolutely amazing time with Thomas! He was so kind, generous, and knowledgeable. The amount of food we had was perfect and I was soooo full by the end of it. Such a good experience, I highly recommend it to anyone who visits, you learn so much about the town and food history.
Our food tour with Thomas was excellent! He accommodated a large group size of all age ranges and got to explore parts of the city we hadn't been before. Thomas was super informative and we all had a great time. Highly recommend.
We highly recommend Thomas for your Provence experience. Thank you Thomas for the lovely tour both days! You are a kind, knowledgeable, thoughtful and amazing person and we all totally enjoyed your tour and the amazing goodies you got us. Thank you for the fruits, the cheese, the amazing lunch both days and of course the extra bottle of cayenne truffle powder! Highly recommend this experience.
Tomas was very knowledgeable and proud of the food and traditions of his native Provence. I had a wonderful time learning about and tasting the foods from local vendors!
An expertly guided tour around the food shops and market stores of Aix en Provence with small bites and tastings along the way. Thomas was knowledgeable and friendly and it was a delightful guide to the old town.
Thomas knows all the “ins” and “outs” of terrific food in the region from where he comes and is a native. He knows what is great and what isn’t. He makes a point of taking you to the BEST off the beaten path places. You will NOT regret this tour! DEFINITELY A FAVORITE!
Thomas was an excellent guide and host. He is super knowledgeable about regional foods and culinary traditions. All stops were welcoming and gracious. Plenty of tastings, many of items or ingredients you won't find just anywhere. Recommend you schedule this tour at the beginning of your visit to A/P so you have time to return to your favorite spots before your trip ends.
So many insights about the unique shops and food culture of Aix en Provence. We got to know our genial host Thomas as a friend!
Thomas Garcin (thomas-en-provence) was a wonderful guide. By chance, my husband and I were the only participants on our tour. We got personalized attention, which was a plus. The stops were informative (and delicious). Since we will be Aix for a little while longer, we look forward to revisiting some of the shops and the market to enjoy Aix even more. Merci, Thomas
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and brought us to many restaurants and food stores that would often go overlooked by tourist. All of the food I ate on the tour felt like true Provence cuisine. On top of it all, the tour provided a lot of knowledge on the culture behind the food which was neat. Overall great tour!
Thomas was an excellent guide that showed us wonderful places and taught us a lot of history on both the food and the city itself. Excellent tour!
This food tour was a great way to experience all the best of Provencale food. Thomas did a spectacular job at taking us to the most authentic places in the city, including the market, sweet shops for Calais on candy, truffles, ice cream, and the famous Pan Bagnat sandwich. The tour was a slow paced to allow time for conversation and added city history. The picnic in a quiet alley was very nice. It was also great to connect with the other travelers in the group at the large table in the coffee shop. I highly recommend this tour with Thomas. Finally, make sure you go hungry!!
This food tour with Thomas was fun and chock full of information and FOOD! Thomas is very knowledgeable about the local food scene and the bigger picture of where the food originated and the details of how it is constructed. I felt like he personalized the tour along the way. He is easy to understand and very personable. We bought things along the way and returned to two of the sites the following day to purchase more food. This was a real treat and I highly recommend it.
This was a wonderful tour. Robert loves the local food, respects the vendors and is very knowledgeable. He found some “offbeat” locations and we were welcomed. He’s a very good guide and we recommend this tour.
Thomas was a substitute for the original guide . He was excellent. We had a wonderful day with him. The tastings were excellent. I was glad that I did not have breakfast because I could enjoy the amazing focaccia sandwich in the market, many tastings, stop for a coffee and the lavender ice cream. This was my first food tour. I would highly recommend him. Sheila
Thomas was a terrific guide who knows the local food and vendors well. He was friendly, and the locals clearly love him.
Incredible experience! Thomas was such a great host. Ended up with a small group so it was even more personalized. Such a fun afternoon of getting to know the area, meeting nice folks, and tasting some amazing foods
Incredible tour. Spend the afternoon getting to know the area and trying all the best foods. So grateful to Thomas for the wonderful company, and great spots to tru
Great Tour. Not rushed at all. Go to a lot of different spots with delicious tastings. Great to do early in your stay as it helps get a lay of the land.
We had a wonderful experience with Thomas. He made the tour fun and easy. We tasted a lot of delicious and fresh food that was local to Provence and he gave us a great historical reference for the food. Thomas was engaging in charming and would definitely book this tour again.
We had a marvelous experience on our food tour with Thomas! We learned a great deal about the specialties of Provence, what is genuinely unique to the region and what is "commercialized" or lower quality. Each stop and tasting was a joy! His passion for food and his heritage is delightful! I highly recommend this unique and joyful experience!
Most important, Thomas is friendly and easy to undestand. He shares his passion not only for food but also for Aix and all things Provence. He introduced us to a few tastings, a lovelly lunch, a coffee break and ice cream. A wonderful way to learn about Aix in your visit.
Thomas gave me an excellent tour sampling local cheeses, pastries including the famous calissons, truffle products and othar local delicacies. He is an engaging host and also got some local history as a bonus. Merci Thomas!
Thomas was a joy to meet and very informative. We really loved the sampling of French foods on a leisurely walking tour Highly recommend.
This was quite a tour. Totally enjoyable. Thomas is a gastronomic expert and he guided us well through the streets of Aix with a very well curated cornucopia of delectable delights. Everything was wonderful (even the anchovies). The highlight was the Pan Bagnat. Unbelievably good. There were so many tastings, though. Thomas was an exceptional guide. Do not eat breakfast before you go.
We had such a fun time with Thomas on the Provençal food tour. We tried many different foods and learned more about authentic foods of the region. There was plenty to eat, we were very full at the end of the tour! Thomas also added historical info on the sites we passed. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, we highly recommend this fun and tasty afternoon food experience!
A wonderful three hour trek through the city center of Aix en Provence. Great intro to the culture and cuisine of Provence. Got to sample everything from truffles to sweets from local small businesses, cheese and sandwiches from the open air market. Even enjoyed a coffee and ice cream. Thomas was great and full of information about the food, city and the region. Nice small group experience. Highly recommended- great value.
A wonderful opportunity to sample regional tastes in the market and in specialist shops, made easy by Thomas. Highly recommended.
Thomas was an excellent guide. Knowledgeable, friendly with good English.
A wonderful experience with Thomas. He is fun, knowledgeable and passionate about food. Everything he bought for us was delicious. His suggestions for restaurants were excellent. I loved the tour and highly recommend it.
We went on the Provencal Food Tour with our wonderful guide, Thomas Garcin. He is interesting, engaging and a passionate supporter of small, local businesses. We stopped in quaint specialty food shops which showcased products made with truffles, and small stores which sold popcorn, candies and traditional biscuits, to name a few. He also shared the history of Aix. At the conclusion of the tour, we were given a summary of the places we visited and suggestions for interesting spots to visit throughout the city. I would highly recommend this tour and guide, especially if you enjoy the culinary arts. Thank you, Thomas.
Our family of five (including a 13-year-old 10-year-old and six-year-old) spent a fabulous 3 1/2 hours being guided by Thomas through the best of what Aix-En-Provence as to offer! He expertly guided us away from touristy spots and into the culinary gems that only true locals know about. All along the way, he shared in insights about the culture and history of the town. You can tell that Thomas loves the cuisine of Provence, and we received some wonderful recommendations from him for restaurants to visit. We ate and drank our way through the town, and I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, my wife and I, or our children. We were all thrilled to spend part of our day with Thomas, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone coming to town. Show up hungry, because there are a LOT of offerings throughout the tour.
Thomas' food tour was a highlight of our trip to Provence. He took a small group to several wonderful food shops and market stalls that we would have never found on our own, and along the way told us about the history and culture of the region. Thomas is a gem. And go hungry because at each shop we got to sample the specialties.
Thomas leads a wonderful tour to all the small and beautiful shops and markets you might well never see on your own. My daughter and I enjoyed the whole experience and the picnic by the fountain was a special highlight. Highly recommend!
What a wonderful tour! Thomas is a delight and his knowledge of local foods is impressive. We made multiple stops at small shops and the markets, all purveyors of local foods. Plus 2 sit downs at a coffee shop and a waffle/crepes/ice cream shop. A particularly nice touch was the mini picnic at an ancient small water fountain. I highly recommend. Come hungry!
Thomas gave a wonderful tasting tour with lots of cultural and historical information to accompany. Many interesting points you won’t hear about in the guide books. He’s very friendly and I definitely recommend his tour.
A highlight of our two weeks trip to Provence and the Riviera. Thomas is a wonderful guide, with many thoughtful stories and selections from local markets and shops. We especially appreciate his patience with the six young children we had with us! Even the little ones were engaged and enjoyed the walk.
Our guide, Thomas, gave us a very tasty and interesting tour of different typical foods from Provence at little shops and at the outdoor market. My husband and I were the only people on the tour, which made it possible to ask lots of questions and take a few photos. He is from the area and has a passion for the food and supporting local artisans. We enjoyed finding our way through the backstreets of the old city of Aix and learning more about the culture through its food. He offered us a 10% discount on anything we bought during the tour, which we used a couple of times. Everything was delicious! We would recommend Thomas as a guide and this tour!
