Very nice day tour from Aix-en-Provence. Our guide, Emmanuel was prompt, well versed in the history and importance of our stops at Le Beaux, Pont de Gard and Avignon, and communicated things very nicely. The winery we visited was a little underwhelming, but the drive to the winery was beautiful.

Sebastian was a phenomenal guide! He made the drives interesting and provided a lot of information on the places we visited. The sites were all very good, I only wished we had more time but it was already a long day.
Thomas was wonderful as were the rest of the group. Fun company in just beautiful locations. The weather was far from kind but the journey was comfortable and the suggestion for lunch was brilliant. The wine tasting was interesting and it was just lovely to visit places whose names I’ve known much of my life with such a good guide.
This trip was cancelled last minute I was informed by company as driver was sick this is very unprofessional.. we came all the way from New York to Paris and took train to Provence to do this trip and this was a horrible experience.. the tour we ultimately took was pathetic as we were just left in 2 spots given 2.5 hours of free time and wandering nothing much to see I am very upset about this experience and would want a refund for this trip We have been loyal to Viator tours for many years and as senior citizens we did not expect this last min .. every company needs and should have a back up plan in case a driver /guiide falls sick We have spent so much money to get here and could not do this tour I will be posting this review to let everyone know our experience Harmeet Uberoi
Great your overall if you have time in the area.
it was absolutely delightful and very informative. From Roman ruins to incredible wine tasting, fantastic day!
Marion was an excellent guide! She was knowledgeable about the area and sites we were visiting. We had a good amount of time to visit at each location, and it was helpful that Marion had little maps of each location we could scan so we knew the key sites. I was very happy to have only a 6 person group for this one—it was a very long, very hot day—having a bit of space to relax and cooldown in the van between stops was a bonus.
I don't often leave reviews, but this tour absolutely deserves one. I had just spent five days based in Provence and wanted to visit several places that, in my view, would have been difficult to reach efficiently without renting a car or constantly changing hotels. I had settled on staying first in Arles and then in Aix-en-Provence (both with museums I was keen to visit), but I also wanted to see iconic sites like Pont du Gard and the Palais des Papes in Avignon. This tour—which also incorporated Les Baux-de-Provence and a winery in Châteauneuf-du-Pape—made it possible to experience all of them in a single, well-organized day. I felt I had enough time to appreciate each stop, and I always appreciate small-group tours that eliminate the need to drive, park, and figure out all the logistics. All in all, this trip was an excellent value and a perfect way to see some of Provence's most famous sites. As a bonus, while in Arles I had fallen in love with the legendary Mistral winds, so it was fun to return to that part of the region one last time before heading home! Our guide, Audrey, was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating throughout the day. One final note deserves special mention. I accidentally left my prescription sunglasses in the van after the tour. They were very important to me, and Audrey and everyone at A la Française went above and beyond to locate them and arrange for their return. That level of customer service—especially after the tour had ended—left as much of an impression on me as the tour itself.
Really enjoyed the tour with Laurent and Emmanuel. They were a great team. Failing getting out of the city for a day.
What a fantastic day exploring Provence and Châteauneuf-du-Pape with Greg as our guide. Greg shared a wealth of interesting stories and local knowledge throughout the tour, making every stop both engaging and memorable. The scenery was absolutely stunning, the wine tastings were excellent, and the entire experience was relaxed, enjoyable, and perfectly organized. If you’re looking for an authentic and informative wine tour in the region, we highly recommend Greg. Thank you for an amazing day – we will definitely be back! / The Swedes
This trip takes you to some iconic sites in Provence. All were very interesting and provided the opportunity to see more rural areas. However, there really wasn’t enough time to explore the old château in Baux and there was an admission fee. Extra time at the Pont du Gard would have been appreciated so that one could rent a kayak or go swimming. Important to know that you will arrive in Avignon for a late lunch. Time was also limited here. If you wanted to find your way to the Pont d’Avignon( also has an admission fee), you really don’t have time to take the train tour or visit the Pope’s Palace. The guide gave information while driving but you are basically on your own at each site. She was helpful, but unfortunately, the folks in the back seat of the van had difficulty hearing her. The host at the Châteauneuf-du-Pape winery was really welcoming and passionate about explaining the wine making process. We really enjoyed the trip, but it would have been much better to have more time at the first three sites.
We traveled in a comfortable van and got see all the scheduled sites without feeling rushed. This was more than "drive-by tour."
It was a full day tour with all the highlights . The guide was knowledgeable and kind. I would certainly recommend this tour to get a good overview of Provence .
Marion G was wonderful. Very informative and funny. Excellent on historical things. An excellent driver.
Greg picked us up in Aix and guided us through Marseille and Cassis. A wonderful full day!! He was knowledgeable, personable, professional and shared his passion for the area. Highly recommend Greg!!
I found it not as informative as other tours! We were all English and had to ask many questions when driving through towns! Not a lot shares as far as history etc.. just in major sites. She was lovely but found it laborious for her
We enjoyed our day out with Sebastian in Provence! He did the driving, allowing us to enjoy listening to his stories and knowledge of all the locations we visited: Les Baux, Pont du Gard, Avignon, and the wine region.
Emanuel was very patient, knowledgeable and this tour allows for a great tour of Provence while also giving you your own time at each of the stops. The weather was perfect and everything was on time. Highly recommend!!!
Fantastic tour . Beautifully sights . Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and took good care of us all day
If you are in Provence and have limited time, this tour is a must. We saw and heard about many of the main sights and yet had time to enjoy our friends and family. The wince tasting ids very short. so don't plan on it being the focal point of the trip Also be aware that this wine tasting was all red wines, and no accomodations were made for my my allergies to satins. Otherwise it was lovely!
Wonderful trip and not rushed. Lots of time to see everything. Being in a small bus was a bonus with just a small group.
A great tour through Provance. Pepe, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the historic importance of all of our stops and his enthusiasm was contagious. I highly recommend this tour.
A nice introduction and experiences. Guide was informative and fun. Learned a lot about the area. Recommend for a complete day.
We enjoyed the convenience of having a driver bring us to significant places, who was able to give us perspective regarding what we were seeing. Suzanne was very personable and enjoyable, as was the group we met up with.
This was a wonderful day trip from Aix en Provence. It was exactly as described and fortunately the weather was good, although a little hot. We visited Les Baux de Provence, the Pont du Gard, the Popes Palace in Avignon and Chateauneuf-du-Papes. We had plenty of time at each stop to explore. Our guide, Pepe, was excellent and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth it.
This tour was a wonderful experience. While I have taken two other tours this week in Provence (Cassis and Luberon Villages), this was a really great overview and a chance to go to Avignon. Also Pont du Gard, Chateau Neuf de Pape and Les Baux. Each one of these was a very special experience. While it was a lot of driving in between spots, that was a time to relax and refresh, drink water, and get lots of interesting information from our guide, who is incredibly kind with all our questions. I would highly recommend this trip. Just a tip from my experience, be sure to review all the trips in this area and save them to a favorites, because you make it canceled at the last minute like I did. I need to come up with a back up.
Fantastic day with Caroline (Caro) of A la Francaise Tours. I loved revisiting some of my favorite villages in the Luberon: Gordes, Rousillon, Lourmain, etc. we learned a lot from Caro and it was a wonderful, relaxing day with her as our guide. Appreciated the free time as well as the small group. Merci!
Fantastic day in Provence. Bernardo was very knowledgeable and friendly. The medieval town and ponte de garde were must see in the trip
My 83-year old mother and I joined this tour in June. Bernard was our tour guide and he was marvelous. He really had a wealth of knowledge about the region and each of the sites visited. Would highly recommend.
My 83 year old mother and I took this tour and absolutely loved it. Bernard was an excellent tour guide providing historical and other fun information. He was very patient with the slower pace that my mother needed. I would highly recommend
We had a great day trip with our guide Thomas who was exceptional. He was very entertaining and we all enjoyed the lively banter. The car was very comfortable. The first stop was the delightful village of Les Baux on top of a rocky outcrop. Then to pont du Gard with the amazing aqueduct built by the romans 2000 years ago. Next stop the walled city of Avignon and finally a wonderful visit to Cristy winery. The tasting was excellent. Thomas was a very safe driver and got us back to Aix in good time.
This was a beautiful and informative tour. Our guide, Donar I believe was his name, was very kind going above and beyond to help my elderly mother enjoy the trip. She even managed to see hilly Les Baux, as he dropped us off at the village. He gave us a great information about the history of the area and tips for the best views of the Pont du Gard. The winery made the trip a little long, but the scenery was beautiful.
Good multiple faceted view of Aix En Provence sights and attractions. Knowledgeable, friendly guide who had a good understanding of the region.
Emmanuel was lovely! The trip had a lot of free time built into it. The food in Avignon was delicious!
I had an amazing day touring Provence from Marseille and Aix. We went to Les Baux, Pont du Gard, Avignon, and a wine tour in Chateauneuf du Pape (also got to see the old castle). Sebastien was so knowledgeable with excellent English. The van comes with a microphone so everyone can hear very well. I learned a lot about the history and geography of the area. Our tour of 6 were all solo travelers who ended up choosing to have a lovely sit down lunch in Avignon. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants a great overview of Provence in limited time. Not a good itinerary if you want to actually enter museums etc., but I loved making the most of the 1 day I had. I walked almost 14k steps, so plan accordingly.
**Review of A la Française Provence Tour 🌿🍷** Just returned from an incredible day exploring Provence with A la Française! Our guide, Marion, made the experience unforgettable with her extensive knowledge and passion for the region. We kicked off our adventure in the charming city of Aix-en-Provence, wandering through its picturesque streets and vibrant markets. Marion shared fascinating insights about the local culture and pointed out artisanal shops that showcased the best of Provence. Next, we visited the stunning Château des Baux-de-Provence, a historical gem dating back to the 10th century. It was amazing to learn that 22 descendants of the original family still live there today! The views from the castle were absolutely breathtaking, giving us a perfect backdrop for photos. 📸 After that, we marveled at the impressive Pont du Gard, an ancient Roman aqueduct that left us in awe. Marion provided captivating details about its history and significance, making our visit even more special. Our tour continued to the iconic Palais des Papes in Avignon, where Marion brought a smile to our faces by singing the beloved children's song "Sur Le Pont D’Avignon." She also gave us great tips on where to eat, with so many delightful options around the Palais. A highlight of the day was the wine tasting at Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where we visited the renowned Château de Pape winery. Marion’s expertise in wines was remarkable as she guided us through a selection of exquisite wines, capturing the true essence of Provence. 🍇🍷 Overall, the A la Française Provence tour was a perfect blend of history, culture, and gastronomy. I can't recommend this experience enough for anyone looking to explore the beautiful landscapes and rich heritage of Provence! #Provence #ALaFrançaise #WineTasting #ChâteauneufduPape #PontduGard #AixEnProvence #TravelGoals #ExploreFrance #HistoricalSites #WineLover #TravelDiary #Wanderlust
Day long trip from Aix to Avignon with some great stops along the way. The drive provides a good opportunity to see the countryside and is broken up nicely. We had a dinner reservation in Avignon and requested to be dropped off rather than travel back to Aix-en Provence. It worked out beautifully. Sebastian was a wonderful guide - friendly & knowledgeable. .
Full on trip but really enjoyable. Adrien was a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable. You get time on your own when visiting les Baux, le pont du Gard and Avignon, and time spent in the car is dedicated to talking about all you're going to see and do on your own. Suited us perfectly.
Our wonderful guide was the most exceptional part of the trip. Her knowledge and easy way of imparting it, made for a fantastic day. The sheer age of some of what we saw was breathtaking for us from the new world. The wonderful views of the aqueduct, the walled city of Avignon and the cliffyop village were all amazing. All this topped off by the winery Châteauneuf-du-pape made our day joyous. But none would have been as good without our lovely guide.
Scenic views of the blue water were abundant. Variation of locations provided a thorough capsule of the area. The 8 person van is an optimal size group. Guide knowledgeable of the area and the history of the region. Although it was a long day, the overview of the area was a worthwhile day trip.
The tour is a great way to see a number of the highlights of Provence in a day whist enjoying the ride with a knowledgeable guide. It was great to get to Les Baux before most of the tourists did as it is very scenic- we just had enough time to go around le Château but we did have to walk fast! Pont du Gard was probably the highlight, an amazing structure to still be standing from Roman times.
We enjoyed our day in Provence! Seeing beautiful sights and learning from Bernardo was great. The ride was comfortable and very efficient .
Not so much of a guided tour as a minibus ride (8 people of various nationalities) to several locations where you’re left to look around on your own. Suited us, but quite expensive at €133 each. Visit to a Chateauneuf du Pape winery for tasting was a disappointment, and not a great advert for one of the world’s best wine regions.
Jen was a spectacular guide with knowledge of every where we stopped as well as the journey to get there. We could have spent more time in both Les Baux and Avignon but we got a taste of both places and will be back. The wine tasting ending our day in Provence was awesome. We highly recommend this tour!
Remy was a wonderful guide who was incredibly knowledgeable. It was a lovely trip which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We liked our tour but would have enjoyed more time in Avignon! There was not enough time for lunch and touring Popes Palace. Our guide, Donoto, was nice but pretty hard to understand and the speakers in back of van were horrible so some of my family couldn’t really hear him. Was a bit disappointed in Avignon as it was very crowded and that was a surprise to me. Overall, nice tour but maybe cut one place out so more time can be at each? Thanks.
Such a lovely day! Truly impressed by the grandeur of Pont du Gard and incredible scenery of the Alpilles. Les Baux-de-Provence is ridiculously pretty! Pepe was an excellent guide - enthusiastic and informative. And such a lovely, friendly group. As a solo traveller I felt relaxed and welcome.
A very enjoyable and interesting day. Hosted by Sebastian who had limitless local knowledge and a great sense of humour.
Morgane was a great tour guide. We saw plenty on this trip with my main focus being the Pont Du Gard. Morgane went on with the history of the areas and answered questions about the what we were seeing or doing. We had plenty of free time in Avignon to explore also.
Our guide Jehann was amazing! With stops at ancient city Les Baux (so fun to meander up and down the winding stone roads and peek inside all the shops and galleries), the ancient Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct, lunch in Avignon, and a Chateauneuf-du-Pape wine tasting . . . It was a full day of Provence. We learned so much and saw the beautiful highlights. Perfect day trip for our family of 4 (teens 19 and 16 even enjoyed the wine tasting). PS - Jehann’s driving skills were incredible - there were many times when we encountered huge tour buses and she navigated us around with ease. So glad to have had a driver instead of trying to do this ourselves haha!
