This was a long day. We enjoyed the villages. Although we didn’t spend enough time in the third. The shops were really cute there, and we didn’t get enough time to explore them all. We stopped to taste olive oil too, but would have rather spent the time in the third village since we couldn’t buy olive oil due to the airlines liquid restrictions. We don’t want to check bags. We like that the tour guide used a microphone and seemed knowledgeable about the areas.

This tour was a really nice experience. Emilie is an excellent guide, she shows her passion for her work. All the places that we visited are amazing with lovely views. We highly recommended this tour. At the end, you’d wish to continue visiting other places like theses. Thank you very much to Emilie 👏👏👏👍😍
Corinne gave us such an extraordinary day exploring the Luberon Villages. From the moment we met her, she was warm, thoughtful, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable…it genuinely felt as though we were spending the day with an old friend who knew exactly what we would love. She tailored the day beautifully, taking us beyond the expected stops to special places. A visit to an exquisite olive oil producer was a particular highlight, as was Lacoste, where the combination of centuries of history, remarkable architecture, stone masonry, and contemporary art was completely unexpected and fascinating. What made the day truly memorable, though, was Corinne herself. Her knowledge and passion for Provence came through in everything she shared, but never in a way that felt scripted or like a typical tour. The entire day felt personal, relaxed, and wonderfully curated. We came away feeling that we had experienced a side of the Luberon we never would have discovered on our own. Truly, truly special.
Suzanna was a wonderful guide! Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable, but we got caught in the midst of a CRAZY thunder and rain storm, and Suzanna still got us through seeing the villages and drove us safely back. There’s plenty of time to explore the different villages (when it’s not pouring), and since it was just our group of 2 we had freedom to stay/leave earlier or later.
A great, full day of quaint provence villages in an air conditioned van. We had some great stops with great views!
A full day on the go! Wear good shoes as some villages have uneven stone paths. Bring plenty of water or be prepared to purchase water on the hot summer days. Happiness- is getting back into the air conditioned mini van!
Our guide was nice and knowledgeable, but the itinerary could have been better thought out. At most stops, the recommendation was “there’s a good place for a coffee”—that’s not really why I came to France and booked a guided tour. It was fairly disappointing that we arrived at Roussillon at 12:30pm and the market was in the process of closing already for the day. So we had a two-hour stop there, with no market to visit—essentially the “market tour” had no markets on it. The wait staff at L’Ocrier (the restaurant recommended by our guide) were actually quite rude (not to me, since I spoke French, but I observed and overheard their comments). Also, I was surprised that she didn’t know about the public filtered water fountains around the city—a key fact for travellers on an extremely hot day (generally, I think being able to tell guests about public drinking fountains and toilets is essential). I would have like more time in Buoux because I had only just enough time to visit the castle, so didn’t get to visit the town at all. Especially since our last planned stop in Ansouis didn’t work out — the bridge to enter the town was blocked, and our guide didn’t know what to do. She gave us a choice between trying to go there or another small village, but none of us really knew what to do. So we went to the other small village, and I sat and drank lemonade for 35 minutes…ok…would’ve preferred at that point to have had more time in Buoux, or just to have come back to Aix. I highly recommend the tour operator consider adjusting the schedule a bit to ensure the markets your actually has a market on it.
Great tour that allows you to see several towns in one day. Laurent was a great tour guide - very knowledgeable. Easy way to see multiple towns without a car. The market in St. Remy was crowded, but lively and enjoyable.
What a fun day visiting the countryside outside Aix-En-Provence! Our guide Greg was terrific. A funny, knowledgeable and friendly gentleman that shared endless insights into this beautiful part of the world. The villages were like stepping back in time. The views were majestic, vineyards and fields of lavender as far as you can see! All in, this was a great way to see the beautiful countryside of southern France!
Driver was super friendly and knowledgeable about France and the region. It was a low stress way to see all the best parts of the area! So much easier than driving myself.
Very limited commentary or information about the locations. Our guide was a good driver and Mercedes van nice but we were packed in to every available seat including two in front with driver. Not worth the cost. We were dropped off in each village and told when to return. About all we were told about each spot was where to find a public bathroom.
Very enjoyable tour - and our guide, Marianne, was outstanding: knowledgeable, friendly, an excellent driver, looked after everyone and made the whole day great fun.
Greg made the entire day!! Knowledgeable, fun, and truly enjoyable!! Highly recommend him!! We feel like we made a friend in France!
We travelled with Emmanuel to 4 hilltop villages - Gordes, Roussillion , Lourmarin and Ansouis. What a fantastic experience. We walked around the villages ourselves which was fine - 90 minutes each in the first two which were the biggest and busiest and then 45 minutes each in the other two. Emmanuel advised us what to look for and at in each village. His problem was parking the van because parking is difficult in these places- so he had to drop us off and then go a long way away and return to the designated pick up spot. He did a fantastic job and the day was brilliant - highly recommended.
The little medieval villages of the Luberon district are really worth a day tour. At this time of the year however (late November) they are a bit like ghost towns as most of the shops are closed particularly at Gourds as it is not tourist season and inhabitants tend to leave. But without a lot of tourists it is easier to admire the architecture and landscape. Our guide Remy was great. My only complaint is that we were in a car with 7 of us and as Australians we are used to fresh air and tend to get claustrophobic and uncomfortable in the closed areas with the same hot air circulating. I am an asthmatic and had to ask to move from the back to the front of the car as I was having trouble breathing. I was pleased to get out of the car at the end. We never understand in Europe and America why houses are so closed up and even in our accommodation travelling through Europe when it is 0 degrees outside we need at least a gap in the window to let some fresh air in and the stale air out otherwise we tend to get sick.
Fabulous day, Melissa was very knowledgeable and shared information as we went along. The villages were very interesting but all had their unique appeal, and all very beautiful.
Sebastian was a great guide. He gave interesting commentary on the drive and was a careful driver. The towns we visited provided a good overview of the area. I would suggest that Viator be more clear as to which cities are included on the tour for the day that is booked. We did not visit one town that Viator listed.
Wonderful day trip. Not rushed with plenty of time to explore the villages. All villages were beautiful and very different to each other.
This is a MUST-DO tour! Five beautiful villages, each one different. We went on a Saturday which allowed us to visit several fresh food markets. The local olives and cheeses called to us as well as some scarves and local souvenirs. Emanuelle was our driver/guide. We were impressed by his knowledge of history as well as the villages and the topography. There were those in the small group of seven that were interested in the Romans, others in medieval times and the Crusaders and then us who are more interested in WWII and forward. He spoke to each of us with an abundance of information. He also told us about each village we would be visiting, stopped at perfect spots for photos. Roussillon was by far our favorite. Emanuelle was also an excellent driver who didn’t take the curves too fast which was much appreciated! This tour gives the participants a chance to see and enjoy the towns on their own, then have time to ask questions and make comments in the van between stops. Highly recommended
Great day. Were taken by Emanuel through beautiful scenery to a range of different but amazing villages.
This was a fantastic day tour and a great way to see the smaller villages in Provence if you don’t want to drive. Thomas was an excellent guide, and I felt like we had a great overview of the region. The trip was well-paced and I felt like we had just the right amount of time to independently explore each village.
The 4 cities we visited in Luberon were amazing. I am pleased we visited. We felt our driver drove too fast on winding switchback roads and too close to cars in front of our van of 9 people. Also always passing cars on the freeway, sometimes going over the speed limit.
Wonderful day exploring hillside villages in Provence! Our guide was very fun and informative and a pleasure to be with! Highly recommend this activity!
Our tour guide Greg was outstanding. Very informative and helpful. He knew all the best places for photos and spots for wonderful views.
We were 'chauffered' to 6 or 7 different villages in the Luberon that we never could have navigated on our own. In a Mercedes van! The leader was a lovely woman, and English was her first language! However, we did expect that the leader would guide is somewhat once we got to each village, but instead she dropped us, told us a few things about the village, and came back to pick us up at the appointed time. The tour would have been so much less stressful if she had been available to answer Q's as they came up.
Possibly the best day of our trip! The villages were charming and the tour informative. Greg was a great tour guide. Highly recommend!
A wonderful immersive experience with Greg despite the rains, of the wineries and the captivating Luberon villages. Greg is a very knowledgeable guy and kept us engaged with facts known and mostly unknown. Highly recommend this trip with Greg
Bring a shopping bag for market day, not just water. Had seven total on the trip, plus guide. Nice sized group. Guide was wonderful.
This trip seemed quite expensive at first but it was well worth the money, we packed so much in and it’s certainly a highlight of our whole holiday. We went on Tuesday which was Gorde market day and had 1.5 hours there, which was plenty of time to browse, buy and eat. 4 stops in all and every one was beautiful. Audrey our guide was great and gave us lots of info about the areas we visited - 10/10
I greatly enjoyed my private tour of Lourmarin, Roussillon and Gordes with Greg. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go to the Valensole lavender fields as planned due to the season being cut short by the extreme heat, but Greg did manage to find a lavendin field that had not yet been cut. Exploring Roussillion and Gordes made up for the extra time, and I was so glad to get to see these beautiful villages. We explored the market and had lunch in Roussillion before continuing our journey. As a solid traveler I felt completely safe. Greg was great about providing helpful information about the area and answering questions. He also volunteered to be my personal photographer for the day, which saved me from having to set up my tripod dozens of times. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will book another tour with this company whenever I return to Provence.
We had Emmanuel and he was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide. We greatly enjoyed visiting the towns, each with their unique personality and beautiful scenery and tucked away in the Provencal countryside. We felt it was a relaxing day with just the right number of stops and a wonderful way to experience and learn about Provence. Our biggest complaint is not having enough time to adequately explore each town but that's a reasonable point considering how many we visited. We had lunch in Gordes and visited the market in L'isle-sur-la-Sorgue (Sunday morning). I would highly recommend taking this day trip and seeing these places. It was a memorable part of our trip to France.
We much enjoyed market day in Lourmarin and bought some excellent tapenade and bread to enjoy for dinner. We didn't visit the Abbaye de Sénanque in favor of going to Gordes on the guide's recommendation. We also visited Roussillon and Fontaine du Vaucluse. While it was nice to get out into the countryside, I think we spent too much time in Gordes and Fontaine du Vaucluse which are very small villages and have little to offer. It was extremely hot and it felt like we were killing time in these places. I would rate the trip as ok but not exceptional.
This tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Pepe, had incredible historical knowledge and offered in depth commentary throughout. Touring with someone that truly appreciates the beauty of the region made it an unforgettable experience. Thank you for a lovely day in Provence.
We had a long day driving through several villages each with different qualities . It was jam packed and the only regret is not having a little more time to send in each . Perhaps one less village would allow that .maybe skip the Abbey and it would allow more time . But we had a lovely day and learned a lot about the region Melissa was a super driver and guide while driving us .
We loved our guide, Emanuel. He was so knowledgeable and patient! We would highly recommend this tour! Our lunch was delicious and the coffee devine…and so was the ice cream. We highly recommend this day tour!
Perfect time of year to see lavender fields. The market was great. Able to get herbs if province Lived the quaint villages
Disappointing. Tour was advertised as 4 villages, only visited 2 and took a photo of Gordes. (Visit four of the most beautiful Luberon villages on a full-day tour from Aix-en-Provence to Lourmarin, Isle-sur-Sorgue, Roussillon, and Gordes, including a stop to explore Isle-sur-Sorque's open-air market.)
A great way to see the charming highlights of the remote mountainous region in comfort. Our guide, Suzana, was fantastic! She was a great storyteller, driver, and guide to the area.
Each of the villages were quaint, well preserved, easy to navigate, and memorable. The market day to Apt was a little overwhelming with crowded and narrow streets and stalls on many main streets. I love markets but like more organization like fruits and vegetables in one area. Clothes, pottery, food, and regional products were all mixed up. A real bonus to the trip was our guide Pepe. He was warm and very knowledgeable.
Thomas our guide was really good! Had lots of info to share. And he had to contend with long weekend unexpected mayhem. Pretty good job.
Thomas was very knowledgeable and made the experience very fun and one to remember for the rest of our lives.
This tour was absolutely amazing, Marion was a brilliant guide. We got to visit four different towns with a lovely break on an air-conditioned bus between each one. Marion was a really knowledgeable guide, very clear and great fun with lots of personal recommendations too!
I chose this day tour as I wasn't staying long in Aix and wanted to get a feel for the region. I was very lucky to have Greg Duvaut as the tour guide. His encylopedic knowledge of the region; it's history, including the Roman influence, wines, religion, architecture, everything and anything of interest, was what made it so special! Greg was so amiable that he even went off 'off piste' so that I could explore the beautiful flora of the region. Being springtime, the fields were full of beautiful wild flowers and he happily stopped en route so that we could appreciate them too. I would highly recommend this day tour as it's incredible value for money considering how much you get to see and if you're lucky enough, you get the wonderful Greg as your tour guide!
My daughter and I truly enjoyed our day in Provence, visiting the Loumarin market and a few other beautiful villages. We did not visit every village listed on the itinerary. But we did get some fun additional impromptu moments, like pulling over to take pictures in a poppy field, and photos of Gordes from a great vantage point. Emmanuel was the most excellent guide and driver, sharing history and facts as we drove to each village. We would have liked a little more time in the Loumarin market. But had a wonderful day, overall!
The trip was well planned and Greg was a wonderful guide. The small group tour is the way to go. Greg was knowledgeable and made the experience pleasant
The weather had periods of rain when we went but that did not interfere with the trip. Our guide (Adrian) was very knowledgeable about the area, and what he did not know he quickly researched and provided an answer. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and Adrian, and A La Francaise was great to work with11
This is a superb excursion with plenty to see and Greg gives a fantastic running commentary on the history of the area. His depth of knowledge is extraordinary
Take this tour, the guide, Florence was charming , knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. Each village was special in its own way. I loved that we could get out of the van and explore the villages on our own.
The March 15 was a beautiful sunny day when we joined a Luberon Market & Villages Day Trip from Aix-en-Provence. The guided tour exceeded all my expectations. The guide Florence was not only knowledgeable but also passionate, sharing fascinating stories and historical insights that brought each site to life. The itinerary was well-paced, giving us ample time to explore without feeling rushed. The entire experience felt immersive, organized, and enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to dive deeper into the culture and history of the area.
The trip on the Luberon valley was great! With our super guide Florence we visited several magnificent villages, among the most beautiful in France and the source of the Sorgue river. We spent a day far from the rush of Paris, in places where the time has stopped, calm and beautiful, rich in history. Even if we were visiting in January, without the nice smell of the lavenders fields, and with most shops closed, we could benefit from these places without the tourists crowds. The local market is a nice place to get honey and local biscuits to bring home. It was a great experience which we highly recommend!
