Benjamin is a great ambassador for Aix en Provence. Felt like we had a great over view of the City and its history when we completed the tour. He had a great sense of humor and was very engaging! Would highly recommend him for a tour.
Excellent 2 hours tour with Ben - both funny and knowledgeable
A great walking tour! Greta was very knowlegable and this tour was a wonderful introduction to Aix.
We were given a choice - food or history. Don't know if both would have been better. Ben gave us a good history lesson.
This was an excellent tour. Guide was knowledgeable, funny and had personal insights about the city. Highly recommend
What a lovely tour! Ivanna was an exceptional tour guide and very personable. After having several various city tours around the South of France during the week, Ivanna’s tour of Aix was the most thorough and educational. She spent two hours reviewing everything from early city establishment, to cultural and architectural evolution, covering local art history, incorporating stories (including historical scandals!) with facts regarding architecture, and pointing out and explaining important city land marks. It was a well-researched and well-paced tour with just enough information on each topic, yet welcomed questions with ready responses. Ivanna was in communication with us the week and day of the tour to confirm times and meeting locations, which was appreciated. Also offered her favorite restaurants and good stores. She made the afternoon very enjoyable and we left Aix with a better understanding of the town and culture than just wandering around on our own with guide book would have offered. Recommend bringing a water bottle in the summer heat, parking garage Rotonde for central town access for those driving in for a day trip. I cannot recommend this tour enough!
It is a great tour to do as a family. It was personalized based on the fact that we had young children.
my guide, Ivanna, was very educated, charming and knowledgeable. therefore, it was incredibly informative and delightful. I felt she took the time to prepare and make the tour enjoyable for everyone!
Ivanna was superb—very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. It was a hot day and she was super-considerate, always finding places to stop in the shade. The pace of the tour was both lively and relaxed—she never once made us feel rushed. I highly recommend her!
Ivanna was a great guide! Knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. She made our stay in Aix more enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Ivanna did a great job of showing us around Aix. The balance of history and sightseeing was just right, and Ivanna had lot of great info to share. It was a very hot day and she did a good job of keeping us interested and in the shade whenever possible. The pacing was excellent, we never felt rushed yet we covered a lot of ground.
Wonderful tour with fun, funny and knowledgeable guide Benjamin. Highly recommended! We’ve done quite a few city walking tours and this was great.
Benjamin did a wonderful job on our tour of Aix. He kept it light and funny as well as passing down the area history.
Wonderful, well paced, comprehensive tour of Aix with a friendly guide, Ivanna, who was filled with information and stories about this lovely town. It was a beautiful day and a great way to get to know the area.
This is an exceptionally good tour. Ivanna’s enthusiasm and encyclopaedic knowledge shine as brightly as the Provence sun. Ivanna is not following a script, she is following the history, artists, and stories of Aix and able to answer any question with a thoughtful and interesting answer. Her English is impeccable meaning for English speakers she can communicate nuanced meaning and understand any question. We did Ivanna’s tour in the morning orientating us for the afternoon. It’s the best tour we have ever experienced.
My husband and I loved this walking tour. Ivanna gave us an incredible overview of the city. Her historical perspective on the various areas of the center city made us look at this beautiful city in a different light. We can see her passion about the history of Aix. Ivanna’s stories about key people and places also made the history come to life. This tour at the beginning of our trip allowed us to get so much more out of our visit! I highly recommend!
Our guide Ben was super nice and friendly. He sent a group text before meeting to make sure everyone was running on time. He gave us a great overview of the city and mixed in a lot of history, fun facts and personal stories This was by far one of the best tours I’ve ever had!!
One of the best tours I’ve ever experienced. Benjamin guided us on a personal and deeply moving tour of this beautiful city, where generations of his family have lived, worked, suffered, and celebrated through the years. He narrated an amazing story of the history, culture, cuisine, and character of the region, making me determined to return some day to learn even more! I highly recommend you take this tour!
I hit the jackpot! I enjoyed a more-than-generous private guided tour with Ivanna, and it was the perfect introduction to my second day in Aix. Through her detailed knowledge and genuine passion for the city's history, art, and culture, I found myself becoming increasingly captivated by the unique richness of its heritage. Ivanna's warm personality, quick wit, and attention to the small yet meaningful anecdotes that bring a city to life made this tour especially memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone visiting Aix. She is an exceptional guide!
We met our guide, Benjamin, at an easy central location. The tour was nicely paced, stopping at historical sites and places of interest. There were plenty of photo opportunities and a few places to rest in the shade. He gave us great overview of the city and some recommendations for the rest of our stay. Highly recommended.
Outstanding and entertaining introduction to Aix-en-Provence. The tour exposes the layers of history that are found in this beautiful city, but that one can only discover with an expert guide. Try to book this trip at the beginning of a visit to Aix-en-Provence to take advantage of the excellent restaurant and site seeing recommendations.
Wonderful and informative tour. Ivanna was knowledgeable and very professional. She provided great insight to the history of Aix en Provence. Highly recommend this tour.
This tour was excellent. Ben was top notch! His banter was informative and funny. He covered geography, history, cultural details and gastronomy of local foods. He engaged the whole group in a brilliant repartee for a couple of hours. Genuinely highly recommended
Excellent tour. There were lots of things to discover—things I might not have found on my own—and lots to learn about Aix: its geography, history, and ethos. This tour created a meaningful context for the rest of my visit, giving me a better sense of what to look for, how to see it, and what it means. I could not have had a better tour guide.
A very informative tour that gave us a good sense of modern day Aix and its history. Our guide Ivanna was excellent- very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful before, during and after.
Ivanna, our guide was fantastic! She was very easy to listen to and had great information to share with us. Great tour but was helpful with suggestions for where to eat and what to do agterwards!
It covers all the main points of interest. Our guide, Ivanna, was great fun and extremely well informed. She made the tour very interesting.
This is a wonderful introduction to Aix. Ivanna is a truly amazing guide - knowledgeable, engaging, and fun to be with! One of the best walking tours I have ever done! Thank you - highly recommend!
Benjamin was fun and knowledgeable, adding real color to our tour. He made the history feel personal by sharing stories from his own family history. Highly recommend touring with Benjamin.
He was excellent and charming. And I was so grateful he didn't cancel the tour even though I was the only one for that day. I am learning French and so we did the whole tour in French. I was overjoyed. I got a tour of beautiful town and a private 2 1/2 hour French conversation class.
Benjamin’s knowledge of and connection to Aix is impressive. He has a terrific sense of humour, knows history and is a great storyteller. It was a fun, informative tour - highly recommended!
Ben did a great job as a guide! We learned a lot history with him! Aix en Provence is a lovely city and I truly recommend your visit !
Ivanna is an extraordinary guide. She is local, smart & personable! She helped us understand Aix, not just by showing us the sites, but also by sharing historical and cultural aspects of each…allowing a deeper understanding of Aix and of Provence!
Great tour with Benjamin. He knows the city and the history very well. He also has a great sense of humor that makes the tour fun and interesting. Great tour to start your time I aix
The 3 hour guided tour by Ben was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and showed us parts of Aix-en-Provence we would never have found. Our small group of 4 was very impressed with this tour. Ben suggested eating places and we actually went to one for lunch that day and it was excellent. Overall we highly recommend this tour.
We absolutely loved our tour with Ben. He was so knowledgeable and informative. We learned so much about the overall history of the area. He also has a great sense of humor! We highly recommend this to anyone interested in seeing the city and learning more about its history.
Wonderful experience. Ben is awesome and his knowledge of the history of Aix is amazing. Highly highly recommend!
Ivanna was a great tour guide! Very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We enjoyed our trip to Aix much more than if we had just wondered around town!
This was a great tour. Ben was our guide. He’s knowledgeable, fun, friendly. The sites he took us to were already interesting, and then they became additionally interesting with the information/stories Ben shared with us.
Don’t miss this experience! Our tour guide, Ben, was fantastic! He had tons of knowledge about Aix and the entire Provence Region! So many notable facts as we walked along the streets. He had a great sense of humor and despite the rainy day, made our tour thoroughly enjoyable!
Wonderful experience with Benjamin touring Aix en Provence. He has an incredible depth of knowledge into the history and culture of this city and the surrounding region. Never a dull moment on this tour with Benjamin's wit and humor. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the city.
Very much enjoyed this tour! Our guide, Ivanna, was extremely knowledgeable about Aix en Provence and took us to many beautiful and interesting places. We had my two teenage daughters along, and Ivanna kept them engaged throughout the two hours (not easy to do with teens on a historical walking tour!). We especially enjoyed visiting the cathedral and learning about the art within. Highly recommended!
I took the tour with the wonderful Ivanna, a fount of dazzling information, history and tidbits about modern Aix — a panoramic picture in a brisk, packed two hours. She knows her stuff and dispenses it with charm, wit and enthusiasm. She will tell you about the kings and cathedrals and where to get the best gelato. A totally Aix-cellent experience!
Benjamin’s tour is smart, thorough, funny and a delightful overview of Aix. We especially appreciated his attention to detail and the kindness he showed us and others. Stickers and Polaroid were unexpected great touches. Thanks for the keepsakes of our afternoon!
We had a very entertaining and informative tour of Aix. Lots of little stops with some small tasting of local sweets. Benjamin was a top notcbh guide.
This was a very comprehensive tour, delivered with a sense of humour. It showed me parts of Aix that i had not visited before. There was lots of back up material. It was good to interact with other member of the tour, who were from all over the world. I learnt lot about Aix & his family's roots in Aix - they have lived there for a long time. I would highly recommend this tour
Very informative, interesting and fun. Benjamin was engaging, made the experience not just informative but very fun. Overall, excellent!
Great walking tour with Benjamin of Aix. His intimate love and knowledge of Aix made this "off the beaten path" tour well worth the trip from the Marseille cruise terminal. Ben is probably the most communicative tour guide I've ever encountered and his, (at this moment), 100% rating on Tripadvisor is likely a testament to that. He's very prompt at providing answers to any worries, concerns, questions about the tour. In some ways, we were lucky to have Benjamin all to ourselves for our tour of Aix. He was informative of Aix's history and its artistic and intellectual impact throughout certain periods. Benjamin seemed very passionate about the effect of Cezanne, his dedication to his particular style of artistic expression, and the impact it has had on today's modern art. Since we were putting this into a cruise stop and Aix being some distance from Marseille, it did take some time to get there. For the most time productive standpoint, Uber proved to be the quickest option at just under 40 minutes, (from the cruise port) and cost 42.49 Euros . We did take a bus back to Marseille which was far more economical at about 14 Euros. Benjamin can offer some recommendations for transportation but keep in mind, the responsibility of getting back to the cruise port is yours. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Benjamin for a tour of Aix and if you want a 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinion; just read he reviews here on Tripadvisor or Viator. Nothing sells a product better than word of mouth. If staying in Marseille, I would highly recommend going to Aix just for the more welcoming venue of Aix. The bazaar was amazing and my only regret was it closed before we could explore all its offerings.
Ben gave us a great tour of his city, Aix en Provence. He knows his history and he led us on an enjoyable, educational walk through several neighborhoods. He charm and wit made for lively discussions. A very enjoyable tour!
