Very disappointing experience, especially for a hotel of this caliber. We had an awful €280 couples massage, and I actually left mine halfway through after the therapist acknowledged she could not provide the pressure I had repeatedly requested. I was offered a complimentary massage the following day, which I declined, assuming they would instead remove my portion of the couples massage. What was most disappointing was how management handled it. Alexandra, the manager, was completely unwilling to make any meaningful accommodation or gesture of goodwill, even when I suggested something as simple as removing one breakfast. She eventually offered complimentary valet, but then even forgot to remove that charge. Mistakes happen, but the complete reluctance to help or make things right is unacceptable at a luxury hotel. We visit Aix twice a year and will stay elsewhere going forward.

Reviews
This review is for the restaurant. Sadly agree with previous reviewers that the quality of the food is poor and not worth it - specifically, the Dover sole is tasteless, and even vegetables in starters are sub par. The poor quality of ingredients - which is out of character for the environs of Provence - can’t be disguised when doused with good olive oil. This is clearly an issue with cost saving on ingredients rather than the performance of the chef. The service is slapdash: you are either rushed or forgotten - all in one sitting - and in a mostly empty dining room. The cheese trolley is left in the sun all day, which dries out the cheese and diminishes the products from the local fromagerie and the work of French craftspeople. Avoid.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with impeccably clean rooms and well-maintained grounds that create a relaxing and upscale atmosphere. The property clearly takes pride in its appearance, and the accommodations were comfortable and spotless throughout my stay. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the facilities. Staff interactions often felt inattentive and inconsistent, and requests were not handled as promptly or professionally as expected. While the physical property exceeded expectations, the overall guest experience was diminished by the lackluster service. If management can improve the level of customer service, this would be an outstanding place to stay.
⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) I contacted the General Manager before posting this review because I wanted to provide an opportunity for the concerns we experienced during our stay to be addressed. The General Manager indicated that improvements would be made during the remainder of our visit. Based on our experience, however, the issues persisted. Arrival Villa Saint-Ange is a beautiful property. The hotel itself is visually impressive, with well-maintained gardens, attractive rooms, and a setting that aligns closely with the image presented in its marketing materials. Upon arrival, we were informed that complimentary drinks and pastries would be delivered to our room. They were not delivered. Service The valet team was consistently professional, welcoming, efficient, and helpful throughout our stay. Their service met the standard I would expect from a five-star hotel. Unfortunately, several other aspects of the guest experience did not meet those expectations. The main issue was a recurring pattern of missed requests, poor follow-through, and inconsistent service that continued throughout our stay. After several incidents, I sent a detailed email to the General Manager. While I appreciated receiving a response, it focused largely on explanations rather than specific corrective actions, although I was assured service would improve. Despite that assurance, similar issues continued during dinner that evening and breakfast the following morning. In my view, the hospitality experience fell short of what many guests describe. Staff interactions often felt transactional rather than proactive, with limited follow-up to ensure requests had been completed. Whether due to staffing, training, or management practices, the lack of consistency was noticeable and affected the overall experience. Food & Beverage The food quality was generally good, but the food and beverage service was below the standard I would expect at a luxury property. Examples include: • We waited approximately 45 minutes for water. • Orders arrived late and without coordination. • One meal was delivered incorrectly. • The bill was brought to our table before we requested it. • Requests to speak with a manager were not addressed promptly. Checkout At checkout, the staff incorrectly assigned room charges within our party, despite there being only three rooms involved. Overall Impression What makes this particularly notable is that the hotel has significant potential. The physical property reflects a high standard, while the service experience did not consistently do so during our stay. For a hotel charging luxury rates, guests should reasonably expect stronger execution, communication, and attention to detail. I left with a positive impression of the property itself and appreciation for the valet team, but concerns about the overall guest experience. Based on my experience, meaningful improvements in service consistency would be necessary before I could recommend Villa Saint-Ange to travelers seeking a five-star hospitality experience.
The hotel is truly amazing with close proximity to the main shopping area Cours Mirabeau and within walking distance. Ambience was so cozy with an 18th century feel and our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel was very well kept, clean and felt brand new. Celebrated my partner’s birthday here and the staff ensured it was memorable and romantic. Food was of excellent quality. This hotel will be our first choice on our next visit to Aix En Provence for sure.
