Our VIP with Micheal was wonderful. He knew everything we asked about Greek history! He put together a plan for the day that accomplished everything we wanted.

Our private guide, Andreas, was punctual, extremely knowledgable, flexible about our itinerary and a safe driver. We enjoyed our half day tour, learned a great deal and saw several interesting places and the beautiful scenery.
We did a half day tour of eastern Crete and our guide was fantastic. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable about Crete geography, history and wildlife. Highly recommend!
We're so glad Zeus's Cave ended up being part of our Crete stop, and even happier that Michael was the one who expanded the day for us. He picked us up at the port in a comfortable Land Rover, handed us water and gum, and walked us through a few different options for the day. We landed on Zeus's Cave together, and it was the best call. The drive up was half the fun. Michael took us through the mountains, on and off road, chatting the whole time about Crete, actual history but also just what life is like there now, not the tourist brochure version. A few times he pulled over and hopped out to pick wild herbs growing on the hillside, then passed them around so the kids could touch and smell them, teaching us the Greek words for each one. Twice he stopped with kernels to feed some goats hanging out along the Minoa Path, gently warning us to watch our footing and not fall as we walked around. He also kept pulling over at spectacular lookout points and snapping photos of us with the views, and wove in Greek mythology as we drove, which my son, who is deep into the Percy Jackson books, absolutely ate up. Michael facilitated a great back and forth with him while keeping the rest of us engaged in the conversation too. Then we got to the cave and wow. Just wow. One of those places pictures don't do justice. TAKE THE DONKEY RIDE. This is not a casual nature walk, it's a steep, hot hike just to reach the top of the cave, and it was blazing outside that day. Once you're inside though, the cave itself is cool, almost a relief after the climb up. From there it's another 200 narrow stairs down into the mouth of the cave, and the walk back up to the entrance is downhill from the top of the cave path. The area around the cave has been redone nicely too, clean bathrooms, little cafes, some souvenir shops if you want a trinket. On the way back Michael kept the tour going, pointing stuff out, and ended it perfectly by stopping at a lookout point above the port so we could see the view before heading down to the boat. Michael is just easy to be around, funny, clearly loves showing people his island, and somehow held the attention of two teenage boys for four hours, which deserves an award on its own. If you're doing a Crete stop, book this one, you will not regret it.
We did the VIP Private Half Day 4x4 Excursion with Land Rover through Adventure Crete while our ship was docked, and it was a great day! Michael picked us up right at the port in a Land Rover, gave us cold water and offered travel gum, and asked what we were interested in seeing. We landed on Zeus's Cave and I'm so glad we did. He drove us all through Crete, up into the mountains, on paved roads and off road, just talking the whole time about the history and geography of the island and what everyday life is actually like there now. A few times he stopped the car, a few times to pick plants growing on the mountains for us to smell and touch, twice he offered us kernels to feed some goats hanging out near the road. He also told us a ton of Greek mythology as we drove, and my 13 year old, who has read every Percy Jackson book, was into it. Michael asked questions and expanded the knowledge my son and the rest of us had come in with. Zeus's Cave was genuinely incredible. One of the most beautiful things I've seen in my life. Quick tip if you go, take the donkey ride up if it's offered. The walk is steep and we (me!) learned that the hard way. There are about 200 narrow steps down into the cave itself and another 200 back up. The area has been redone recently too, there are clean bathrooms, a couple little cafes, and some souvenir shops, and the path itself while steep is well paved. Michael gave us plenty of time to rest and grab drinks before we headed back down. On the way back to the ship he kept pointing things out, old sites, new parts of the city, just giving us the full picture of Crete. He dropped us off up on the mountain right above the port so we could see the view before going down, all the little shops and restaurants and bars lined up along the water. It was such a nice way to end the tour. Michael was great. Patient, funny, clearly loves what he does, and somehow kept two energetic teenage boys interested for four hours straight, which might be the most impressive part. We'd do this again in a heartbeat and would tell anyone visiting Crete to book it. Thanks Michael for showing us your island and for introducing us to a few more mountain goats along the way.
Nice 4x4 and the guy was nice enough, knowledgeable etc but didn’t really do much, a cave, a place on a hill? Then a beach but just to look at. Just a bit dull - maybe there’s not much to see in Crete!
Such a great experience! We would have never imagined the amazing sites that we experienced on this wonderful tour. Our guide was very thoughtful to allow us as much time as we wanted at the various destinations too.
Our family of four are very active and appreciate nature and history. We booked the VIP Luxury Private Tour- Half Day - 4x4 excursion with Land Rover specifically to explore the Cave of Zeus and hike the Gorge to see the waterfalls and swim in the pools. The assigned excursion guide communicated prior to the excursion to firm up the itinerary for our party. We agreed on the caves, hiking the Gorge and exploring the Palace of Knossos. When our guide arrived to transport us, we were notified that the Land Rover was having mechanical issues, and a replacement guide and different Land Rover would have to take us. Our original guide was very nice and apologetic about the inconvenience. The replace guide arrived 45 minutes later. He too was very nice but wasn't familiar with our itinerary, had only lived in Crete (or Greece) for four years, informed us that the Caves of Zues was not open due to government closure/restoration (for months at this point), the Gorge was too far for a half day excursion and that the waterfalls had dried up so there wasn't much to see anyway. He did his best to accommodate us and come up with alternative options to fill the four hours reserved and paid. The excursion was nothing like advertised. We requested to be returned to the port so that we could fill our time on the cruise ship. Again, both guides were very nice, but this company fell short of delivering what was promised.
We recently did a private tour of Crete with our incredible guide, Michael, and it was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. We were a family of five and booked a 4-hour experience—but Michael generously extended it well beyond that, taking us to a few extra spots at no additional charge and making the day feel completely relaxed and unrushed. Our itinerary included breathtaking stops like the Cave of Zeus, the stunning Richtis Gorge, the charming village of Milatos, and the iconic Windmills of Lasithi Plateau. We also explored some lesser-known villages and had the chance to soak in Crete’s authentic character away from the crowds. Michael’s knowledge of the island’s history, mythology, and culture was outstanding. He was warm, engaging, and incredibly accommodating—nothing ever felt too much trouble. To top it all off, he ended the tour by dropping us at a fantastic local lunch spot in Agios Nikolaos, which we’d never have found on our own. This was more than just a sightseeing tour—it was a deep, personal experience of Crete, and Michael made us feel like honoured guests, not just customers. Highly recommend booking this if you’re looking for an enriching, flexible, and memorable day out. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had an amazing guide named George who went above and beyond. He had a clean Jeep, was extremely accommodating and a wealth of information. He hiked with us up Richtis Gorge and then took us to the oldest living Olive tree.. George most definitely made our excursion the best ever and we are very grateful.
Had a very nice trip with Gaetin traveling from Elounda to the Zeus caves. Along the way we stopped at and olive oil factory. The kids loved the trip and conversation with Gaetin was very nice.
Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and opened our eyes to so much about Crete and Cretan life. We’ll come back to Crete again to see more in large part because of this tour. We saw the caves of Zeus and the calming town of Elounda as well as an olive oil making tour.
We had a half day vip tour. We did not know what sighs we wanted to see but told guide what we was interested in and he planned the whole trip for us. We went to some stunning locations, the guide eas extremely knowledgeable. We went to some off the not so commercial historical sights which were amazing as there were no queues. A great day for all of us. Thank you very much!!!
Patrick did a great job. The lunch was definitely the highlight. Best food in Greece. Our 3 year old had a blast and enjoyed the tour. Thank you!
It was a great tour of local culture! We appreciated the knowledge of Petra. She was fun and full of energy! We highly recommend this adventure.
Abel the tour guide was knowledgeable! And very friendly! Our Trip was fun and easy ! Went to Krista and Agois Nikolanos
Excellent trip. Driver was on time, provided a ton of knowledge on Greece and Greek mythology. Stopped at a few places that weren't on our agenda along the way and even brought us to a local olive oil factory on our way back to the cruise port. Would highly recommend
We were in town for a cruise ship stop and chose this option so that we could visit both Knossos Palace and Zeus's cave. Our driver was Michael who was there early to pick us up. He was fully engaged and knew an immense amount of Greek history and mythology. We stopped at the largest Plane tree and even stopped at a local olive oil factory for us on the way back to our ship. Would highly recommend Michael if you're in port for a short visit!
We had an amazing time in Crete with our guide Armin. He is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, especially concerning history and archaeology and we learned a lot about the ancient Minoan culture. We had nothing planned and on the spot he managed to craft an absolutely perfect day for my mother and I. It ended up being one of our favorite days on a multi-island trip. Thank you!
This is a scam. They confirmed the tour (confirmation number included). Then they cancelled and viator does not what to refund my money back. Be aware of this service because if they cancel they wint give you back your money.
Petra from adventure crete took us on a half day jeepsafari through the east side of crete. We learned a lot about the authentic crete and its inhabitants. Petra is a dutch speaking and such a good guide we really enjoyed our time together!
Had a perfect day touring the island of Crete with our tour guide, Eric. Loved learning about olive oil and the history of how it is made. Informative and interesting and lots of good treats to try from olive pastes to olive oils to vinegars.
Ralph was amazing and had really good knowledge of Crete. He was able to accommodate the request of an injured person and a 3 year old to give us the best tour we could have had. Such a great private experience. Thank you!
Emmanuel was great tour guide. We had hoped to be more adventurous, but a broken foot during our vacation had me on crutches. We still got a great 75km driving tour with some stops from Aghios Nikolaus up into the mountains allowing us a view of the Libyan Sea. Gorgeous!! Our day gave us a wonderful overview of some of east Crete. Emmanuel was delightful and gave us insight into the Cretan way of life.
10 out of 10 to Minas our tour guide, he was patient, kind and most of all knowledgeable. we toke the half day tour which was great experience. Thank you Minas🙏
George took us on a great walk, embellished with numerous explanations. We chose our itinerary together, it was perfect. After this walk, a little break by the sea to eat an ice cream and end this magnificent day!! To be repeated!!
