We absolutely LOVED this experience out of Kusadasi. We had a few hiccups while researching potential excursions for our cruise. My wife and I are big history nerds and really wanted to book a tour of the Ephesus historical sites, but we also wanted to see some of the Biblical sites because we didn't know if/when we'd ever return to this specific region. Our cruise didn't offer anything that seemed to give us both options, but this experience did! The company's office is based out of the port so they were immediately aware of our docking time and schedule, and sort of gave us the power to structure the day how we wanted. They asked us what we wanted to see gave us the option to visit certain sites. They met us next to the ship and introduced us to our personal tour guide, Esra, who was terrific. She was incredibly knowledgeable and informative about the region, including the political and religious history of the surrounding areas and how it's helped develop the local culture. We had a blast talking with her. She event took a bunch of photos for us (and a few other tourists along the way). A few things to be aware of: First, you are responsible to purchase your own tickets for the historical sites once you arrive. They aren't very expensive at all, so we didn't mind. Second, the tour stops at a local rug-making school and showroom. The host was kind and informative and gave us a great demonstration. We actually enjoyed stopping by, but were not interested in purchasing anything. Once Esra saw that we weren't interested, she got us out of there VERY quickly. She told us beforehand that we didnt have to buy anything, and to the the host's credit, he wasn't pushy at all. We cannot recommend this experience enough. This was easily our favorite day from our trip. It was affordable, somewhat customizable, very informative, and fun.

We visited Mary’s House and what an amazing heartfelt moment was experienced there. Lift you heart too!
Aisha was a very knowledgeable and personable tour guide who gave great perspective and insight into the area. She knew how to navigate the sites and find the best photo spots. We had a personal driver also and a very nice van; we felt very pampered. Understanding more about the area that St. Paul had travelled will forever enlighten our understanding of the time and his writings. She took us to a carpet weaving center that was very interesting and also a family run stoneware shop where we saw her grandmother and grandfather create beautiful pieces. We went to St. John’s basilica and the temple of Artemis. We had time to walk around at our pace and appreciated her knowledge of each area. We made a stop at the house of the Virgin Mary which was quite moving . It is i. a beautiful, peaceful setting. This day was just perfect for us . Aisha customized the day to our preferences. She offered a lunch stop but we decided to keep moving on the tour.
The house of Mary was a Catholic tourist trap that was a massive disappointment. The city of Ephesus cost an extra small fortune which was the only highlight of the tour, and it ranked 2 out of 5 MEHs at best.
Had a good tour saw many places with a lot of history, our tour guide she was excellent great communication . Not like other tours through Viator poor communication and last minute cancellations and giving you a hard time on a refund and Viator agents with no idea when booking giving wrong information wrong pick up spots, wish all of tours went this well
Eran was such a good tour guide so knowledgeable so friendly, excellent. We can’t say enough good things about him. We learned so much. It was truly amazing.
We had a small group. They were very attentive to our needs. Very informative and very knowledgeable on history. Much better than the ship excursions.
The guide, Mufasa, was friendly (not only to us, but to the many other people we met throughout the day) and knowledgeable and had good English skills. He gave us options so we could spend the 6 hours doing what interested us the most. There were 4 of us and we were transported in a large, comfortable van/bus with a dedicated driver. High value private tour!
This private tour was great and our guide Aysa was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and gave us so much great information. It was really nice that she gave us options for what we wanted to spend time on. As some of the other reviews mentioned, we did go to the rug place, but they didn't try to hard sell us, it was interesting to see and learn about the process. And the lunch was amazing. Would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone!
Fantastic Tour ! Leyla made the difference. She was an amazing person all around. For us an an introduction to Turkish culture she was spectacular
The best excursion I have ever experienced. Our guide's English was amazing. Her knowledge of the area was above and beyond. Transportation was fantastic and lunch delicious
Our wonderful tour guide Ecem did a fantastic job showing us the most important sites in Ephesus. She was kind, energetic and so helpful. She explained the history at each site and answered our questions. To finish, she recommended a delicious Turkish food restaurant. Highly recommend the tour and Ecem as a guide!
Our guide Banu was great!! We also went to a rug factory where they make handmade rugs it was enlightening As well as a family owned moonstone store. She was super knowledgeable about Ephesus which was the highlight of our trip
Alpi did a great job. Very knowledgeable and flexible to meet our needs. He was very friendly and easy going.
Overall, this was a really great tour. Ephesus was amazing, and our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, very personable and easy to talk to. We also went to a school where they are learning to make rugs and learning to cook. We were able to stay and enjoy a delicious lunch! The only negative was the sales pitch to buy rugs at the school. Overall, though, this was a really great day.
This was a tour to get you into the very last place to sell you rugs. They labeled it as a Turkish meal and see a school where women make Turkish rugs. There was no school. They gave a brief demonstration then spent the majority of the time trying to convince you to buy a rug without letting you leave easily. This was supposed to be a Biblical tour. There was nothing Biblical about it. We were given all the same information as any other tour and went to the same places. We thought we would mostly go to the same places but be given information from a Biblical perspective. That was not the case.
Our tour guide was amazing! He helped us visit so many historical places. We loved our time in Kusadasi.
Overall a very good tour. Our guide was very friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. Four stars because of the unnecessary stop at the carpet makers,. The high pressure sales tactics left a bad taste in our mouths for what was otherwise an excellent tour.
Pina was a wonderful guide! She was personable and made recommendations based on our preferences. She was knowledgeable and worked at our pace. We thoroughly enjoyed the day.
We had a private tour with Ahmet, and it was amazing. He was kind, attentive, knowledgeable and made the tour fun.
Bano, our guide, was the best. She made it a great experience and a fun day. Was able to book the tour the day before and Viator made the process very easy.
I booked this tour specifically for its biblical focus, but came away feeling that description was a bit of a stretch. While the visit to Ephesus, the Basilica of St. John, and the House of the Virgin Mary was genuinely enjoyable, the biblical context was largely absent. Several sites and stories were presented as “legend” rather than being explored with any depth or historical grounding, and there were a few moments of outright misinformation that I was able to verify later. The guide was pleasant enough and clearly knew the area, but his English made things difficult at times — I missed or misunderstood parts of the commentary, which added to the frustration on a tour where the details really matter. The sites themselves are extraordinary and well worth visiting. If you’re looking for a culturally rich experience, you’ll enjoy this. But if you’re specifically seeking a biblically informed tour, I’d recommend doing some research beforehand or finding a guide with stronger biblical knowledge and clearer English. Three stars — the history is there, the tour just didn’t fully deliver on its promise.
Alican (Ali) was our guide and he was OUTSTANDING. He was so knowledgeable, humorous, and accommodating. I would recommend him and this tour. Five stars.
Fatih waited for us to disembark the cruise ship. We travel with a handicapped adult daughter and both Fatih and the driver were very kind to her. We mainly visited Mary’s House and the ancient ruins of Ephesus. In both places, he expedited our entry so that we weren’t waiting in crowds. In Ephesus, he was our personal audio guide and made the visit more interesting with his knowledge of history. (He actually took special courses in school to become a tour guide and speaks English perfectly.). Although Muslim, he respects the Christian faith to the point of giving the tour through a Christian New Testament perspective. He later took us to where Turkish rugs were handmade and a place where luminous moon rocks were sold. As mentioned, he was Muslim but was not offended when briefly discussing issues of faith. He acknowledged that Islam doesn’t recognize Jesus as divine even though it came into existence 500 to 600 years after the time of Christ (which Islam recognizes the person of Christ). It was truly refreshing to talk with someone who is kind, tolerant, and not easily offended. We highly recommend Fatih and this tour.
Our guide Omer was wonderful! Polite, respectful and knowledgeable. The entire day we spent in Ephesus was memorable. The fact that we were the only two people on the tour that day made it like our own personal tour. Everything was well-organized and on-time. The vehicle we drove around in was brand new, air-conditioned and clean. Lunch at a turkish restaurant in the rural part of the city was the highlight of the day. We talked of so many things that wouldn't have been possible on a larger tour. Bravo!
Our guide Fatih is great! He is knowledgeable, fun and go according to our pace (we are a group of ten with some seniors). The ancient city of Ephesus is amazing! We’ve learned a lot of the history and culture about this port city. Fatih also brings us to a cute shop to try the Doner and Turkish coffee.
Our tour guide in Ephesus was Banu. She was very friendly and knowledgeable! She took us to places we would not have been able to see with our cruise ship tours. We got to see many Christian sites. She helped create lifetime memories! Wonderful!

Mustafa was phenomenal. Personable, and wonderful to listen to. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his country’s history.
Goksu was an excellent guide! Extremely knowledgeable and accommodating Most pleasurable So kind And caring to his guests
Our tour guide was Ulas and he was fantastic. Highly knowledgeable in the history and culture of Ephesus. He kept the whole tour fun and engaging. I highly recommend this tour!
Goksu was extremely knowledgeable about the history. He was also considerate of nuances within branches of Christian churches in how they approach the lives of the saints. We throughly enjoyed our tour with him. The vehicle was very nice. We had a separate professional driver. It went great from pick up to drop off, including some alone time.
It was a great experience it became a person tour with me and my wife and our Guide Goksu. He was excellent. The only advice I would give cruise passengers is you can pay all entry fees with a credit card if you so choose. Just let your guide know up front what you prefer. Mary’s house you have to pay with Credit card. I say all this because I thought I needed cash in Turkish lira and that was not the case plus almost everywhere I went they accepted Euros. The tour was great but wish I had the finance details I just shared it would have changed my money management for the trip. But the tour itself was great
Ephesus was wonderful and our guide Gokman did a fantastic job providing us with the history. The day was memorable.
A memorable day with Eicar. Deluxe van transportation to Ephesus. Got a detailed history of the city and saw the age and weather worn structures. Museum theater was a highlight - amazing graphics. Lunch at a local restaurant, typical Turkish meal which was a great experience. Visit to a leather fashion center, then back to our ship at the port. One of the best days in our world travels. Good job by the tour guide Eicar.
Had a WONDERFUL day touring around the area! Got to see the house of Mary, the ruins of Ephesus, temple of Artemis, and a cool rug making shop. Begum was an amazing guide. She was very personable, kind and had excellent knowledge of the sights! We highly recommend her to anyone thinking about this tour! We truly could not have asked for a better day
Ephesus was amazing to see, the tour guide had a decent amount of knowledge and took many pictures for us. Mother Mary’s house was worth the trip if you're a religious person. We loved it. Our tour guide suggested stopping at the school where woman are taught to make silk rugs. It was very educational and we enjoyed the learning, however, be ware the goal of the people in the school for sharing the knowledge with you is to put pressure on you to buy a rug. We did not enjoy that part at all and felt uncomfortable. On the way home, we stopped at nice candy, olive product store. They gave us many samples and didn’t pressure us to buy, the food we sampled was yummy and we did purchase some delish items.
This tour is the way to do Kusadasi. Private Tour with a friendly, knowledgeable, polite guide. Ancient city was great. We skipped all lines and our guide, Ayse, knew the best times to go to places. Lunch at a local restaurant with local cuisine was very good and reasonable price. We also went to a pottery, leather and rug factory. The culture was very interesting. There was zero pressure from our guide to buy. The staff at the actual factories do a massive sales pitch with lots of effort (the leather factory did a fasion show runway), but were never actually rude to us when we declined to buy (I've seen reviews from people with other companies who had worse experience with this). We did miss out on visiting Virgin Mary house because it was Assumption of Mary day - the busiest day of the year there. Our guide offered to take us to other places as replacement and was very accommodating. Definitely recommend this particular tour.
Great time!! Tour guide was great, and we went to several great places, including a pottery maker and Turkish rug maker. Also enjoyed a trip to a variety market where we purchased some nice spices and candies, as well as jewelry.
A fabulous tour! So rich in history! We were glued to the stories! Nesli was a wonderful guide. She is so educated and just delightful to spend the day with!
The trip started out well. The guide Gokmen had a very extensive historical background, however after lunch, which he insisted we eat at a “school”, there was a Turkish carpet demonstration and a very high pressure sales job. It felt extremely uncomfortable and the attitudes of all involved quickly became quite irritated that we were not going to “buy” anything even though they said there was no pressure. We did not sign up for a lunch at a school, that we had to pay for and have our guide invite himself to lunch on us as well…nor a high pressure sales job!!! This felt very much like a bait & switch and once it was evident that we were not going to buy anything our guide Gokmen became very dismissive and actually couldn’t wait to end our tour. I would say if you book this tour of Ephesus with this tour company and this tour guide…BEWARE!!! It is not as advertised!!! I don’t usually write reviews but felt compelled to warn others!!! This was a very disappointing experience and we felt conned and felt like we were being handled in a very unprofessional way!! Viaror needs to be better at vetting company’s that they are offering tours through!!
Melisa was an amazing tour guide! She tailored the order of experiences for the day to whatever we requested and was a wealth of information everywhere we went. It was truly a private tour with just me, my wife and Melisa. It was honestly sad for us when it came time to say goodbye.
We had an exceptional tour of Ephasus, traditional Turkish lunch, Virgin Mary’s house, pottery demonstration, rug weaving demonstration. Our tour guide,Eren, was extremely knowledgeable about the area & was born & raised in Kusadasi. There was no pressure to buy at the pottery or the rug factory, but of course, we did!!!
This tour was excellent. By far the best on this trip. From the meet up, to the tour guide (thank you Emma), to the lunch and ride! Everything was A++++
Our tour guide spoke perfect English. He was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. The odd thing was he took us to a coat factory that was a waste of time. He also took us to a Tukish carpet factory that was somewhat interesting but another attempt to sell us stuff we didn’t care about. We could have skipped that! The house of Mary was interesting but we’re not catholic and I’m not convinced it really was her home. Ephesus was epic! That’s what we took the tour for. Our guide knew the tour schedules so he knew when the best time to get there so we dodged the big crowds!
Excellent tour, our guide Yusuf was knowledgeable, courteous, and very attentive. Driver was also great, always prompt to pick us up. Memorable trip overall.
We didn’t know what to expect with this day trip. Our tour guide was personable, energetic and provided a unique educational perspective. We learned, shopped and ate. The fees for temples, etc. are not included. Transport vehicle was posh and comfortable. Easily accessible at the cruise terminal. It was a scorching hot day June 25th. Dress accordingly and wear good shoes. The stone walkways in Ephesus are slick. Very little shade. The history is incredible and we appreciated Mustafa’s insight. Visually beautiful. We were 100% pleased with this decision. Lunch was authentic, family style at $15PP. The only dislike was a push to purchase handmade carpets. The craftsmanship was interesting but we had no desire to purchase. We were told they would ship carpets at no additional cost.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had the absolute best experience on our Biblical Ephesus tour from Kusadasi with Gökmen! He was incredibly patient, deeply knowledgeable, and truly passionate about the history of the area. As a local historian, his insights added so much depth to the experience—we learned things we never would’ve picked up on our own or from a guidebook. Gökmen made the tour feel personal and meaningful. His authenticity and calm, welcoming energy made us feel like we were exploring with a good friend who happened to be an expert. I’ve taken many tours while traveling, but this one was truly the best of my life. If you’re visiting Ephesus, do not miss the chance to tour with Gökmen. Highly, highly recommend!
We had a wonderful local guide, Han who was very knowledgeable, easily to understand and loved to answer questions. He was very mindful of our safety and comfort. There's a lot of walking on old marble roads so wear shoes with good soles and take small steps on the slippery parts. People slip and fall all the time so be prepared, but don't to let it stop you from visiting this truly magnificent place!
Our Tour Guide, Murat, was very friendly and knowledgeable. I loved 90 percent of the tour. Could have done without the rug demonstration but everyone on our cruise ship was complaining about every tour operator taking them to rug demonstrations.
