On the turkey national public holiday I am deciding early to drive from Izmir/Kemalpasa to Bergamo for Look on Pergamon Archäologie Place. The weather was not so nice with fog and little rain but very interesting on the historic place. Use the German info but see also Group with German speaking

Well-organized tour, spectacular places! Our guide, Ekim, was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and professional—one of the best guides ever! Highly recommended tour!
Erman was very knowledgeable about the history and shared lots of stories with us. Our group was half Spanish-speaking half English-speaking and he flawlessly covered the tour in both languages. He was very informative about the scchedule, too. Great tour!
An absolutely outstanding site to visit. Logistics were easy. Erman is a top level guide - very personable, extremely knowledgeable with excellent English. Very highly recommended!
Veri nice experience. Guide and driver kind and friendly. Guide with great knowledge.
We had a wonderful experience with this tour, led by our guide Erman. He is so deeply knowledgeable, passionate, and with such an engaging storytelling style that listening to him is a real pleasure. He gave us a deep understanding of the sites we visited, always placing them within their broader historical context and drawing connections to the modern world. The tour was extremely well organized, from pickup to drop off, and the time spent in each location was perfect. Special thanks also to our kind and skilled driver. We have learnt a lot and had a great time.
Highly recommend this tour, Erman was friendly, knowledgable and was happy to wait for us all to take the perfect photo. The Asclepieion and Pergamon are a must see if you’re in the area
I really enjoyed it. It was a group tour but I was the only one signed up for this day and they still went ahead with the tour. I had my own driver and guide on a 15 passenger van! I was able to converse with the guide about random questions I had about Turkey. Pergamum is beautiful and way less crowded than other ancient cities. The included lunch was a fabulous home cooked meal at a hidden away complex in the country side. Of course there is a carpet presentation. I went on quite a few 1 and 2 day tours in Turkey and I felt this carpet thing was the most educational and personable out of all I listened to.
I can't say enough positive things about this tour; we had an amazing time! Our guide, Api, was incredibly thorough, but, more than that, his enthusiasm, love of history, and pride in his heritage made him the #1 host out of every tour we took in our weeks through Greece and Istanbul! We took a number of guided tours in Athens, Izmir, and Istanbul, but Api was, by far, the most informative, kind, and helpful guide we encountered. He absolutely made the tour! We chose the Pide option for lunch, and enjoyed it; the transportation van was very comfortable.
Erman Uslu is an excellent guide. The tour in Troy and Pergamon was excellent. He has a deep knowledge of ancient history and archaeology. He answered all questions, explained everything in the Troy museum, about the complicated archaeology of Troy with 9 layers of cities and about Pergamon. He provided all assistance, including when I reported back problems and difficulty standing for long periods. A complete guide. The driver was perfect, drove safely and I felt completely safe. Congratulations!
We had a wonderful time with Elcin. She gave us so many insights into the history of Pergamon and the various places we saw. We really learned a lot and had a great time. She set a great pace for us and answered all our questions. We particularly loved the Asklepion. Although we have visited many sites, we never saw anything like this. The included lunch, at a carpet cooperative was really tasty and the people there were so nice (no pressure to purchase at all). This was a great experience!
We had a great tour with our guide. Erman Uslu. He mentioned that he was msde to be a tour guide and after spending the day with him we have to agree that he was an ideal guide. His knowledge of history is impressive and his relaxed yet professional manner made for a really enjoyable day. Since Erman grew up visitng relatives in Pergamon it was special to hear of how those visits influenced his life and served as a foundation for his interest and love of history. The van was extemely comfortable, our driver Amet excelente and the archeological site is well preserved and not crowded! We couldnt have had a more enjoyable day. We will be recommending this company and tour to all our friends.
We had an amazing trip today and our guide, Mr. Zafer, was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge, passion and storytelling brought every place to life. He answered every question with so much detail and made the whole experience feel personal and special. From start to finish we truly felt like VIPs. The organisation, pace and care he put into the tour made the day unforgettable. If you are visiting the area, I highly recommend booking a tour with Mr. Zafer — you won’t be disappointed!
It was a marvellous experience, one of the best tours we ever had! The guide Ekim has a really good knowledge about the places we visited and other things as well. He told us a lot of interesting stories which satisfied our curiosity and gave us enough context for the places. We had it as a private tour, with pick up and drop off to our hotel in Izmir. The vehicle was very comfortable, and the driver was very experienced.
Erman Usly is an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable and very nice. We were extremely pleased throughout the tour.
Crowded House Tours arranged for Ahmet to be our guide for our Pergamon/Bergama Tour. From our very first communication with Ahmet, he went out of his way to assist us in making the most of our visit to the ancient city. We had problems with collecting our hire car and were much later than we had arranged to meet Ahmet. At all times, he was understanding and flexible and even talked us through our LOST scenario! Upon meeting up with Ahmet, he suggested a slight detour to a hill in Ayvalik to view the surrounding area. Our visit to Bergama was very special - we were amazed at the buildings, and the history was explained to us with such passion. Following our tour, Ahmet suggested a visit to a Women's Rug making Co-operative where a delicious and authentic lunch was provided at no charge. It turned out to be our most expensive lunch ever as we purchased rugs!! What had started out as a very stressful day, turned out to be very memorable thanks to Ahmet.
This was our third tour with the agency. Among all of them (Ephesus and Pamukkale included), this one turned out to be the most expensive, and not entirely justified in terms of price. However, since this time it was just the two of us (my friend and I), the cost was offset by the fact that it became a private tour. Our guide for the day, Mr. Zafar, truly brought the ancient city of Pergamon to life with plenty of anecdotes and fascinating stories. In terms of ranking, I would place this site right after Ephesus, and definitely above Pamukkale. Lunch was included—this time not buffet style. Overall, it was a good and worthwhile tour.
It was such a treat to get to go to Pergamon!! Allergen was incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable and we also had the best driver!! Lunch was super!! I’m so glad I got to go on this trip. 10/10 would recommend!!
This was a nice (shorter) day. We left Izmir at 8 and returned at 3:30. Excellent driver and guide. I had the same guide from a previous tour, so I knew I was in good hands. Definitely add Pergamon to your itinerary if you like unique amphitheaters!
The guide Alperin Ugur was very knowledgeable and also helpful. He made the ruins come alive! The lunch buffet was also great with many choices. Overall a very pleasurable experience.
What a wonderful experience! Our guide, Alperen Ugur, was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed sharing the history of each site with our group. This made our tour such a memorable learning experience. The views from the Acropolis in Pergamon were breathtaking.
Recomendo muitíssimo o passeio a outros colegas. 1. IDENTIFICATION OF THE TOUR: We went on a tour to Bergama (the ancient city of Pergamon) with Gezenthi Travel Agency. Our guide was Erman Uslu, who took us on May 11th. We booked the tour through the TripAdvisor website, and the whole process was very smooth. The payment was made in Brazilian reais (R$), according to our preference. 2. PARTICIPANTS: There were only a few people signed up. The agency contacted us to evaluate the possibility of postponing the tour, but we would be in another city on the suggested date. I thought the tour would be canceled and we would get a refund, but the agency went ahead with the original plan, and we ended up doing the tour privately (just my mother and I). The guide was very attentive and didn’t rush any part of the experience. 3. PLANNING AND LOGISTICS: The day before the tour, the agency contacted us to check whether we could postpone it. Since that wasn’t possible for us, they confirmed the original date and provided all necessary instructions. Later in the evening, the guide also contacted us and gave us detailed information about where and how he would meet us the next day. He picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off there afterward. 4. ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT: After leaving the hotel, we headed to the city of Bergama (ancient Pergamon), while the guide shared a lot of historical and interesting information along the way. Mr. Erman spoke both English and Spanish very well and was able to switch between the two languages effortlessly (I speak better in English, and my mother in Spanish – and he supported us both equally, which I found very thoughtful). Once there, we saw the statue of Galen, the medical center of Asclepius, and the Acropolis of Pergamon. The guide was very patient, helped us take pictures, and answered all our questions. We followed the full schedule and still had time to stop at the Red Basilica (or what remains of it – part of it is under restoration). At the end, we finished with lunch near the road. I really enjoyed it and have no complaints at all. 5. CONTENT AND LEARNING: We learned a lot not only about the history of Anatolia but also about Turkish culture, the historical background of Pergamon, and the origins of medicine in ancient times. I highly recommend this tour to colleagues and friends.
We loved our day in Pergamon! Our guide Erman was very knowledgeable and friendly. He went at a relaxed pace, so the day did not feel overwhelming, and we had plenty of time for photos. We visited the Asclepieion first, which was fascinating. Then we went to Pergamon (not in a cable car, but rather in a taxi), which was also excellent. The lunch was nice, but nothing special. Pergamon is not as spectacular as Ephesus, but if you are looking for a more low-key set of ruins, it is a wonderful day trip and we were in great hands with Gezenthi Travel Agency.

what a perfect day! Erman was super informative about the entire history around Pergamom and the rest of the country. he left plenty of time for photos and explanations during the tour. what set this tour above any other than i’ve taken in Türkiye is that we did not stop at unexpected “shopping” places. it was exactly as described which is incredible to have just sight seeing and no unexpected shops along the way. plenty of stops too for water and washroom breaks. if i could give it 6 stars i would!
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was just two of us and our guide and so we had lots of opportunity to ask lots of questions. Pergamon was well worth visiting and I would highly recommend it. I would only ask that our guide volunteer information and interesting facts, as we sometimes did not know the questions to ask.
Our Pergamon tour with Alperen was fantastic! Alpe was very knowledgeable and provided us with an immersive experience walking through the sites. The views from Pergamon were amazing as was the history. Thank you Alpe!
Must do in Izmir region. You get to see Asklepion as well! Many thanks to Alperen! Shout out to Aykut for the amazing driving. Two of the best!
Our tourguide was Erman Uslu. He sent us a reminder the previous day, and he was very punctual on arrival. We got to know a wonderful young man and a very professional guide in one peron. He was nice, polite and patient, but he was also very flexible, discussing the programs with us. But we want to emphasise his professionalism. He told us funny and sad mythological stories, which we enjoyed greatly, and at the same time he had an amazingly wide view on ancient history. We are glad and lucky that we could have him.
We had a wonderful day with our excellent tourguide Ezgi and friendly driver in Pergamon. We were picked up at the cruiseport of Izmir at the agreed time in a very spacious clean car. Since there were only two of us, the trip to Pergamon was very comfortable and we felt very well looked after. In Pergamon we first drove to the Asklepion and then up to the Akropolis. Both archäological sites were very interesting and Ezgi explained everything to us in great detail. Ezgi is a very friendly, knowledgeable tourguide and speaks very good English. Since we still had enough time, we also visited the Red house in Pergamon, which was also worthwhile. After a tasty lunch in a nice restaurant we returned to the port earlier than expected and still had time for a pleasant walk around Izmir. We really enjoyed our tour to Pregamon and will recommend Gezenthi Travel.
We wet for a visit to Pergamon. On the way there He gave us a very concise and clear review of the relevant historical background. He was very helpful during the visit. He could answer all the questions. He was borne to do the this job.
Tour was great, our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was well organised. We had enough time everywhere.
My visit to Pergamon, Turkey, was an enriching experience, made even better by our guide Erman. He expertly explained the history and the ups and downs of this ancient city, offering insights that really brought the place to life. Erman’s fluency in both English and Spanish made communication smooth and enjoyable. This tour isn’t very popular, so it’s likely you’ll be in a small group— in my case, it was just me, Erman, and a driver, which made the experience feel privileged. The higher price for this private tour is justified by the quality of the experience. If you’re into ancient history, or if you’ve visited the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, you’ll find this place fascinating. While it may not be as ‘Instagram-able’ as other ancient sites, it’s rich in history, and having a guide like Erman helps you truly appreciate the significance of what you’re seeing. Highly recommended!
The tour was really amazing! It ended up being just my husband and I, and we had wonderful time with Ezgi. She was fun and told us numerous fascinating facts and stories about Pergamon. It felt like we were on a tour with a friend, that’s how friendly Ezgi was! Next time we are in Izmir, we would definitely request her to be our tour guide.
Ezgi was very good at guiding and explaining all the places around the ruins of Pergamon. She is very good at taking photos. I had very good time touring with her. our driver Mohammed was very good and cooperative. Over all it was great day!!
This is a very worthwhile and fun day trip to Asklepion, the ancient Roman healing and wellness center, and the Pergamon Ancient City. Our guide, Ezgi, was so very knowledgeable and friendly, and really made what we were seeing meaningful beyond just the striking beauty of it all. We rode in a comfortable van, had a great driver, and even turned around after 30 miles on the road back home to grab the credit card I left behind at our delicious lunch spot. That was 100% my bad, and Ezgi and our driver are just that awesome. All in all, a great day trip to see some fascinating antiquity.
Exceptional day through Pergamon. Erman is an extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. We enjoyed every moment of our trip.
My guide Mr. Erman, was very passionate about the site (being a local) and his knowledge was excellent, able to answer any question. The pace of the trip was easy going and Mr. Erman, had a way of making the history come alive. As a teacher of many years, I appreciated his passion and ability to enthuse others. What a wonderful day. Sincerely Alan
Very nice and well organized tour. Our guide Erman Uslu is very knowledgeable and polite. He answered all our questions. I recommend this excursion and our guide Erman.
We had a very lovely and informative trip to Pergamon with Ceyla. Would highly recommend. Her background in Archaeology so helpful in understanding what we saw.
Fantastic! My husband and I had an entire van to ourselves that was clean and air conditioned. Tour guide was fantastic and spoke great English. Very friendly and helpful. Lunch spot was amazing! Highly recommend!
It was a very good tour and the guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We were left with ample time to explore on our own. Pergamon was very interesting and far less crowded than Ephesus.
My family and I are visiting Izmir from Texas and had a great experience on a private tour of the ancient ruins of Pergamom. Our guide Ceyla was an experienced archeologist who not only educated us all about the history of Pergamon but also gave us valuable insights and information about the local culture, where to shop and eat and navigating the city of Izmir like a local. It was like we were visiting and traveling with a friend. We highly recommend Ceyla for any tour you want take.
Selim, our guide, was great. He answered all our questions and made sure the tour went smoothly. Both Asklepieion and Pergamon are a must see if you find yourself in the region.
Our guide was named Semih, and he was wonderful and very informative. He helped my daughter (in her 30s) and me navigate Pergamon and get to its different ruins around modern Bergama. Semih was top notch and really helped us enjoy and understand ancient Pergamon. Great company and guide.
We had a great time at Pergamon. The views were impressive with light sh greenery. We also visited Asklepieion and Red Basilica. Our guide Erman was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot information not just about Pergamon but also history of Turkey in general.
We really enjoyed our visit to Pergamon Asklepion and Acropolis Beautiful views, rich in history. The lunch was fantastic true Turkish cousine. Erman our guide was the kindest and very knowledgeable. He took his time to explain the history behind all the places and sites we visited.
Recommend booking this tour if you want an interesting and informative tour of the ancient city of Pergamon. Our guide Erman was amazing, effortlessly switching between English and Spanish for our small group, and pacing information so you can absorb it all. Seeing the ruins with his added context made for an exceptional experience.
This tour was excellent - major thanks to our guide Erman, who was so great we immediately booked the Ephesus tour with him for the next day! 😅 Pergamon was beautiful and incredibly scenic. Asclepion, the ruins of an ancient health center, was also fascinating - for both those in the medical field and those who absolutely are not (speaking for myself haha). Throughout, Erman’s background and explanations about what we were seeing - and the history of Turkey in general - were exactly the right amount of information, interesting and digestible but not too much. When we had more questions, he had answers, and his chill attitude and clear communication about scheduling were perfect for us as very engaged travelers… but also very tired ones! Having been to Ephesus today, I will also say that this tour had a lot of interesting ruins and scenic views without the crowds and intense heat of Ephesus so I would especially recommend if you’re midway through vacation or interested in a more laidback scenic experience.
This tour was excellent! Pergamon was fascinating and exceeded my expectations! The tour guide was great - friendly, knowledgeable, and patient.
