Pergamon was an amazing place and worth visiting any day. Also since it was quite a drive from Izmir, it was not crowded. I wish we could’ve skipped the visit to the carpet/handicrafts co-op and spent more time at the Pergamon ruins. They picked us from Izmir (ADB) airport but asked for additional money for drop off to airport. We got dropped by a train station instead.

Itinerary
We can meet you any spot in Izmir center.
Following on from this you will discover the famous Sanctuary of Asclepius, located down in the valley from the Acropolis. A sacred fountain where people with health problems could bathe can be found here and legend has it that Asclepius would then give them a vision and explain how they could be cured.
Your guide and driver will pick you up you and then you will be on the way. You will visit the breathtaking Acropolis, which was modelled after the site in Athens. The beautiful view from the hill-top will give you a great panorama of the surroundings. Marvel at the impressive Athenaeum library once held 200,000 volumes, which Mark Antony later offered to Cleopatra as a wedding present. The Temple of Trojan is a huge marble building that has been partially reconstructed from the original pieces found on the site.
Visit To Red Basilica
Finally, enjoy a display on Turkish handicrafts.

Excellent, fantastic. Hanri B. was great. We loved his knowledge and enthusiasm.we learned soo many things. Thank you
My wife and I had a great experience touring multiple Izmir areas with Selçuk. He is a fun and interesting guide and was graciously accommodating to our special needs. He even helped us with medical care during our visit. Selçuk’s tours are customizable and mobility-friendly. We especially appreciated Selçuk getting us to the top of the Acropolis in Pergamon with its ancient ruins and expansive views, which are not to be missed. We highly recommend touring areas surrounding Izmir with Selçuk, and Pergamon is a must-see.
Our guide Selçuk gave a very interesting detail of the ancient city of Pergamon. We were not rushed on the sites so my wife and I were able to take good photos of the historical things. Plus, we were not obligated to stop by shopping areas and tourist traps thereby placing more time on the things that really mattered. The lunch at a local Pergamon restaurant (not the open buffet for the tourist) is the icing on the cake. Definitely recommend this tour. Just ask for Selçuk as the private guide
We had an amazing day at Pergamon with our guide, Selcuk! He was very good with history and gave us enough time taking pictures. Selcuk never rushed us nor obliged us to shop. We really just enjoyed the sites! We had a sumptous lunch at a local resto before heading back to Izmir.
I can’t say enough good things about this tour! From the moment our guide (Selçuk) and driver (Cemal) picked us up at our hotel, the fun began! Selçuk engaged us; attentively and thoroughly answered every question we posed; and added context and history to our tour! He’s very approachable and knowledgeable and I would easily choose him for any other tours we undertake our next trip! As for Pergamon itself, it’s amazing! I knew literally nothing about the site itself beforehand. But we spent considerable time looking at all of its characteristics and delving into details. I came away feeling much more aware of the site’s magnificence! I enthusiastically recommend this tour and these operators!
Even if you know NOTHING about Ionia, Hellenistic Anatolia or Roman life, come and see Pergamon. If you do, I don't have to sell it, and if you don't at least you'll enjoy the breeze in summer. The remains of the city at the top of the long, winding road up are awesome, and our guide Selcuk was equipped with facts and stories at every turn. After visiting the acropolis, we were taken down the slopes to the ruins of the Asclepion of Pergamon. I hadn't heard of this place before, if our guide hadn't brought us we would have missed it entirely. It's possible to see this and another nearby site within two days; the day prior we visited Ephesus. You may wish to consider visiting at the very beginning or end of tourist season, as even in April the the more religiously historical sites can be crowded with groups of older people/cruise ship parties. But Selcuk was able to keep us moving while informing us of the meanings and historical changes of the places we saw. Nowhere near as clogged with babushkas as Ephesus but some tour groups of ancient humans will need to wash their aching knees in the sacred waters of the Asclepion. Afterward, on the way back to Izmir, the four of us dropped into a local restaurant in Bergama for very refreshing local fare. Cemal, our driver, picked us up promptly from pur hotel in Izimir in the morning, ferried us to the sites and back to Izimir airport in good time to make our flight to Istanbul. If I were to return to Turkey for more tours, these would be the guys I'd want bringing me around.
Amazing! Selcuk was an excellent guide. Recommend!
I had a fantastic day tour of Pergamon Acropolis and Asclepion with guide Selcuk Cetin out of Izmir. I was met exactly on time and traveled in a comfortable van. Selcuk has deep knowledge of the history and conveys it in excellent English, in a very interesting way. The day flew by too fast. Just a great guide, and day. Good driver Jamal, too.
Had an amazing tour with Selçuk as my guide throughout Pergamon. He had extensive knowledge about all the history of the area and was super friendly and funny. The ride was quick and comfortable in a luxurious van driven by Cemal who was efficient and safe. The lunch stop was also very delicious. All together a great day trip to see a beautiful ancient city. I highly recommend this tour when in Izmir!
We had a great time visiting Pergamon Ancient City and The Asklepion. The tour indeed had exceeded our expectation! Our guide, Mehmet, was very knowledgable, enthusiastic, and well-versed in Greek and Roman history. The trip was well-organized, and the vehicle was very comfortable. I highly recommend this tour.
We did a day tour to Pergamon from Izmi and had a nice time. Our guide Selcuk, was on time, professional, and had good communication skills, In English. He even gave us recommendations for dinner, and it was also a hit. The jaw dropping tour to see Pergamon was very interesting and should not be overlooked. I Definitely recommend this tour operator and guide as they did a fantastic explaining the history. The choice for lunch was Tasty even though the placed was a bit small.
Anything you would ask could be fulfilled, there is private tour on Mercedes for 350 euros with the guide in your spoken language. We had a nice tour to Pergamon with a very friendly Cihan! We truly enjoyed all the museums and onyx factory
Our visit to Bergama was truly enjoyable thanks to Selcuk. From the very beginning, he was punctual and well-organized, which immediately gave us confidence in the day’s plan. His knowledge of Bergama’s history and culture was impressive, and he explained everything clearly and engagingly, making even complex historical details easy to understand. Selcuk has a great sense of humor, and his well-timed jokes added warmth and energy to the tour without ever taking away from the learning experience. He was very attentive to our pace and interests, always making sure everyone was comfortable and involved. In addition to the tour itself, his restaurant recommendations were excellent. The places he suggested offered authentic local food and made our experience even more memorable. Beyond his professionalism, Selcuk was extremely friendly, polite, and approachable, which made it easy to ask questions and enjoy casual conversations along the way. Most importantly, Selcuk proved to be very reliable and trustworthy throughout the entire tour. Everything ran smoothly and on time. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone planning a visit to Bergama, and I would gladly choose him again for a future tour.
Excellence, from the time at pick up, the tour guide was patient in waiting for me, the ride was so smooth, a immaculate clean car with water available, drive was so smooth, stop at the bathroom or needs for food and coffee, the tours to all the sights were impeccable, each location was extraordinary, the information the knowledge the details at each location surpassed anything I could have imagined, the tour guide patience, kindness and consideration on time management were incredible, I’d say MEHMET my guide is excellence at its finest, you would really love this tour and the experience. Don’t hesitate book and truly have a memorable experience.
Fantastically organized day trip to the ancient ruins of Pergamon from İzmir city centre. Effective, fast communication, pick up/drop off was on time, without any problem. The car is clean, cosy, spacious. The guide is superb, very open and knowledgeable, full of interesting stories. It was a perfect opportunity to get a deep insight into the ancient times.
Great experience indeed! I went solo and I had my private tour guide Selcuk! He was very professional and he was also very fun to be with. He took me to Pergamon by his car, he gave me all the time some insightful and interesting info about the sites we were visiting. It was all really good! Warmly recommended
Had a great experience seeing pergoman and The Askelepion with Mehmet. Zero crowds due to the fact it is late September but the weather is still perfect so this time of year is my favorite for traveling. Mehmet has been leading tours in this area for 30 yrs and his knowledge is unparalleled. We had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend.
The trip was amazing, would highly recommend to anyone, especially if you are into history. Guide was extremely knowledgeable!
We did the tour in an extremely comfortable vehicle, with an excellent driver. But the highlight was the experience with guide Mehmet Kadir. The explanations and anecdotes about the Acropolis and the Asclepeion were great and helped us understand the importance and grandeur of this incredible city. Details about the construction or how the water supply was obtained in a city on top of a hill. Also interesting details about the philosophy behind a rest and healing center such as the Asclepeion, which combined healthy living, the origins of medicine and the cult of the gods, led at the time by Galen, were presented in a pleasant and attractive way. It has been one of the best experiences I have had visiting ancient cities.
Great day, wonderful organization, really nice experience. Impressive places, lots of interesting learned, highly recommended!
We have already seen a lot of beautiful things and experienced interesting things during our stay in the region. This was topped by the tour to Pergamon and Asclepion through Yeşim. Their competence, kindness and enthusiasm made this day a truly wonderful experience.
