Great day for the tour - weather was spot on, meeting at the Clock Tower. Elcin was a great tour guide - English was perfect and her local knowledge was fantastic. After the Clock Tower, was the Elevator - what a great story for the locals. Followed by tea and cakes. A walk through central Izmir to the ancient Market. Wow, wouldn’t have thought it’d be there! Had a wander into the open air market later on, full of life and everything you could think of, followed by lunch. A great 4-5 hours. Thanks Elcin 👍🏽

It was a great tour, largely thanks to the excellent performance of Elcin She is a wonderful guide—helpful, dedicated, flexible, very informative, and always attentive to her guests. Throughout the tour, you truly feel that you are with someone who loves her city, knows it in great detail, and genuinely wants every visitor to enjoy the experience and leave completely satisfied. Erkin’s knowledge, enthusiasm, hospitality, and personal attention made the tour especially enjoyable. I would definitely recommend both her and the agency to anyone visiting the city. Thank you, Elcin for a wonderful and memorable experience GEZENTHI TRavel AGENCY IS GREAT TRIED THREE TLURS WITH THEM EXCELLENT
Izmir is a city that deserves at least a few days on your itinerary. There are countless attractions and beautiful destinations within a 1 to 2-hour drive, making it an excellent base for exploring the region. The people are friendly and welcoming, the food is outstanding, and getting around is easy. Renting a car is highly recommended, as driving in and around Izmir is much more relaxed and manageable than navigating the heavy traffic in Istanbul. If you're planning a trip to Turkey, Izmir is definitely a destination you shouldn't miss.
Our guide in Izmir, Ekim, was excellent. He expertly guided us through multiple means of public transportation to visit the city’s many sites. We took a historic public elevator to view the city from the ancient Asansor building. While at the top, we stopped for a cup of Turkish coffee to enjoy the view and get to know one another. We then visited the ancient Government Agora archeology site and the Antique Bazaar with its many shops and coffee houses. We had a bonus stop at one of the oldest mosques in the city to view the elaborate marble work and high domed ceilings. Finally, we visited Konak Square to view the iconic clock tower. Ekim was a fantastic guide and provided insights into his life in Izmir as well as excellent information on the sites we visited.
Great guide. Very patient. Gave a wonderful tour. My sister is 81 so we walked slowly. Very interesting tour. Highly recommended.
Interesting tour in general. Would like more information from guide. Many times quiet and not forward with information. Had to ask many questions. Encourage guide to create more relationships with market vendors and share their stories. Two vendor stops with known owners made for a delightful visit. Would want more of this along with history.
It was wonderful to see Izmir through Erman’s eyes. Erman , in great detail gave us the history of Izmir leading upto the present day city. He took us to some wonderful neighbourhoods through an ancient lift. We had some refreshments with a beautiful view of the city. Our walk through the Kemeralti market gave us a flavour of the city’s bazaar. His attention to details while explaining the neighbourhood synagogues was on point He gave us a very detailed history of the Agora and its ruins All in all, Izmir came alive through his enthusiastic details and we were very happy to have done the tour with him
Had a greatbtour with Erman on the 2nd of September! He made sure I understood everything that was being discussed on the tour, was easy to talk to and made the tour very fun. Would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Izmir 😀
We booked this as a cultural tour of Izmir and this is what was delivered. Some history and historical sites but also about the culture, food and markets of Izmir.
Elcin is the perfect guide for this walking tour. She has a great knowledge about the history of city and can adjust the tour in your interests. Very friendly and easy to communicate as a local friend. Thank you Elcin for the marvelous experience.
Loved our guide Alperen, he’s very nice and knowledgeable in history. He even speaks English very well. We were able to experience the tram, which was nice. Definitely recommend this tour.
Erman Uslu have very comprehensive history tour of Izmir. He was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to put the history into perspective. He answered all our questions and was very polite.
Had a great time on this tour with Elcin. She was very knowledgeable and great at explaining the history of the different places around Izmir. Would definitely recommend.
Very well guided walk thru Izmir. We learnt a lot about daily life, habits and traditions. Our guide Alperen well explained history, architecture . Very entertaining, useful advices how to move in the city, where to eat and chill. Thank you!
Our 5 hour city tour with Ekim was very informative and exciting. He explained the sites well and was very patient and relaxed. I would highly recommend a Ismir city tour with Ekim as your guide. 🇹🇷
Alperen made the tour memorable. His knowledge in the history of the city plus recommendations on where to go was truly appreciated. Felt like going out with a friend.reached out to us the day before, pick us up, sent us map links to recommended places and had a lot of laughs. Would recommend him as your guide for Izmir. Thank you
Outstanding Izmir city tour with Elcin. We visited the Asansor elevator, Agora market, and the clock tower. Elcin is very personable with excellent English and engaging descriptions of the sites and their history. She took us to a traditional Turkish lunch and help order the food - delicious. We had an outstanding experience with Elcin and loved Izmir.
All four of us enjoyed the entire tour with Elcin as our guide. Some of us enjoyed the tour of ancient Smyrna and others enjoyed the market place tour the most. Our guide, Elcin, was both knowledgeable and personable. We enjoyed an authentic Turkish lunch at a local restaurant in the market and had time to shop for any items we wanted. A great tour with a great guide!
Not even sure where to begin. Selim was amazing! We met at the Clocktower, which was a few minutes walk from our hotel. We spent 5 amazing hours walking around this fabulous city! Selim did not miss one thing and gave us quite a few wonderful recommendations to make it an absolutely perfect day! Cannot recommend this tour enough!!!
This was an incredible tour. Some walking while not too much even for our advanced age. Our tour guide Elçin was exceptional with 18 years experience and a native of Izmir. Extremely educational tour while also a fun time.
Nothing was good about this tour. What was included, like Tram ride, never took place. Put it this way, there's no need to take a tour. Just read from the Google the history of places to visit, and take a taxi. You will understand more and save a lot. By the way, that's exactly what our tour guide was doing - taxi rides! Izmir is a great place for Tour, but please don't spoil you fun and waste money on this - Oh, it was a terrible experience!
My husband and I had a walking tour of Izmir with Erman Uslu. He was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to spend nearly 4 hours with. Not only did he give us a lot of historical background on all sites he brought us to, he was able to answer our random questions. Further, he helped us understand the difference between actual Turkish knotted rugs and woven rugs - he even helped us determine a good price! He also gave us recommendations for where to find a nice lunch! I’d highly recommend a tour with Erman to see and learn all about Izmir.
The itinerary arranged for these two days is very good. I saw many local buildings in the past that are quite distinctive. I was also lucky that it snowed. It is really beautiful!
I took this toor with Elcin. Well prepared, she introduced me to the magic Izmir city. She come punctually, very pleasent and educated person. I loved a lot Bazar old area, Elcin introduced me to see this gorgeous old side.
The Izmir tour was fantastic! We had Erman Uslu as our tour guide again (he did our Pamukkale tour as well) and was obviously amazing again. We were lucky to get a private tour with him which made the experience even better as it felt like a friend hanging out with us throughout the city rather than a normal tour guide. Enjoyed this one as it wasn’t too long and had amazing views of the city. 100% recommend this tour, especially with Erman Uslu.
On September 12th 2022 myself, husband and friends had a wonderful experience in Izmir Turkey with Yalquin Aydin (hope I'm spelling it correctly) . . . he was very knowledgeable, flexible and very personable. Yalquin loves his country and is proud to show it off. I would highly recommend this tour with Yalquin.
Our experience may have been better with a different guide. Ours was extremely tired, falling asleep on his seat and smoking frequently just to stay awake. He only spoke the minimum necessary just to get through. On the other hand, there is a lot to see and enjoy in Izmir.
We enjoyed our private tour very much. Our guide Gokhan was very knowledgeable and fluent in French. He gave us an history course and a peek into the Turkish mind along the way.
Our guide Nazim was our favorite part. That’s because he was personable, extremely knowledgeable and well organized. He made Izmir feel like home. Mr John was a superb driver. We got to visit so much - from the mountains to the seaside. Visiting the Clock Tower and the markets and riding the elevator and eating sweets and lunch and walking and walking. Wow. Could not have been better. We gave it a 10 out of 10. Don’t miss this if you are lucky to visit Izmir.
Elcin was our guide. She provided a comprehensive tour of Izmir's city sites. She ensured that the tour also covered areas of our interests. The small size of our group permitted this personalization. Elcin shared her love of the city and gave us a glimpse of why this region of Turkey is special for her. Our driver, Recep, expertly navigated the narrow streets.
(Si quieres un guia en Español pide a Ege!) We had an amazing experience around the city and the best guide... Ege.... He went above and beyond and the tour was magnificent. Gracias amigo!
The Guides really were excellent In every way.Don't miss the opportunity on your trip to Turkey to visit Izmir as it's a must do you'll savour.beautiful city, wonderful people.the sights, tastes, sounds & smells will captivate you.the iskender OR bursa kebab lunch was so delicious & my Partner even had a chicken curry at the same restaurant we stopped off at in Izmir which was so fresh! you can even see some of the cooking being done right in front of your very eyes.there's a fair bit of walking involved but well worth it you're able to manage it.the ferry ride to the other side of Izmir is so delightful.the Male Market Sellers are a bit of a pest though.it feels like every one is trying to persuade you into their business to spend your cash but hey that's part of the Turkey experience.keep moving on & it's fine
I so enjoyed my tour of Izmir. Resat is a fantastic tour guide! I was fortunate to have a private tour. The city is very interesting and has a lot of history. Not only were there Ancient Greeks but also Romans and Sephardic Jews. Resat showed me several of the colorful neighborhoods. The ancient Agora, bizarre for shopping and clock tower are wonderful, and are highlights. I also sampled a Sephardic Jewish treat called 'boyoz' and also a wonderful pastry unique to Izmir. Resat was aware of my Greek heritage and we toured a lovely old Greek Orthodox Church and saw some Synagogues. He also went out of his way to show me another church and I was able to attend a service that evening. I highly recommend this tour. Please request Resat as he will tailor the trip to your interests.
Great tour with Elcin (guide) and Cengis (driver) from Gezenthi Travel Agency. Good communication prior to pickup, knowledgable guide, and safe driver. Tour visited a small number of important places, allowing a good amount of time to absorb details and take photographs. The tour provides a great overview of places you will want to return to later in order to explore them properly.
This tour was a very pleasant way to spend a morning seeing key sites in Izmir, going up for a great view from Kadifekale and the Asansör, seeing the Agora and then spending time exploring the Kemeralti market, and sampling some coffee, Turkish delight, baklava and mussels. Guide Nazim was informative and friendly throughout, seemed to know loads of people in the market, and everything was fine and on time with the driver, pickup from my Izmir hotel and drop off. It was much more convenient to do this as a guided tour with a driver than it would have been trying to do it all myself with public transport, walking and so on. All in all, highly recommended.
It was great journey over the city, we've had a short time to visit the city, but with this tour we could visit several places withing one day. The Gezenthi Travel agency members are very professional and polite especially very helpful. our Guide Elcin is very professional, kind and respectful. I highly recommend this tour especially with Elcin.
An unmissable tour in Izmir, with an exceptional guide like Herman who speaks perfect Spanish, knowing the most important places like some of its Mosques, the clock square, its market, the agora , the elevator and viewpoint with our guide who made this activity an unforgettable experience, exceeded all our expectations.
We really liked the tour of Smyrna, the great Erman guide, took us to the interesting places of the city, left us enough free time to drink, eat and rest. He told us the story of the city and the explanations were very interesting. He guides very well with the English and Spanish languages. We will repeat with him without doubt
Erman Uslu, our guide made our tour very pleasant. ratings that he loves his city, Izmir, and taught us its streets and history very professionally. Fully recommended.
Erman our guide was excellent very good explanation of the city certainly a lot of patience gave us excellent restaurants shopping recommendation I congratulate you 143
The guide ELCIN was not only bold, but also could not answer any of my questions. The tour itself is a complete failure. The biggest rip-off was that ELCIN only took us to the places where she receives a commission herself. And in the market, she wanted us to take her out for dinner all the time. Don't do this tour and thank me later.
A wonderful visit. With excellent guidance. Cenk is a magnificent guide, very friendly and a great person. An ideal guide to visit Turkey or any country.
Our Francophone Guide Bilgin was waiting for us as agreed at the rendezvous. He introduced us to an aspect of Izmir that we certainly would not have known otherwise. The explanations were clear and precise and he answered all our questions. A very nice experience.
Very good the tour, Erman knew very well to speak to us in Spanish and explained everything we saw during the tour, history, places, buildings, very interesting all the Information you gave us!! He helped us in the food and in taking the taxi back. The Tour was very pleasant and we highly recommend it!
With this tour my 70 year old parents were able to meet Izmir and were delighted. They took them to agora, bazaar, museums, touring the city and much more. In an afternoon you can learn a lot about the history of Izmir. Erman was the Guide and was amazing, my parents were very happy with his attention and explanation. I would always return to them.
Excellent Tour with an exceptional guide with lots of information about the topics, but especially its very warm treatment. Excellent treatment from Herman, highly recommended a Tour with him.
Ilker nuestro guía, muy conocedor, excelente actitud y dispuesto a atender nuestras inquietudes en todo momento. Muy recomendado!
We did the Tour in Spanish with Erman, the whole way was very clear, his Spanish is excellent and he is very prepared to answer any questions you have about İzmir and its history. The tour was great! I highly recommend it. Thanks Erman!
We decided to go to Smyrna to visit the ruins of Ephesus from there. The first impact was chaotic, the city is monstrously large and bustling with people and traffic. The first day we went to the agora which is small but very good and we ended up in a very ugly neighborhood where everyone looked at us weird. Nothing happened but it was not nice, I recommend going by taxi or uber or always walking along the coast that is very nice. Then we went to the clock tower which is in a nice square. The second day we went to Ephesus (I made a post about how to go by train). And on the third day we toured the bazaar which is spectacular, is very large and has crazy prices. And we ended up with a walk through the marina. My recommendation is that if you don’t like big cities (as is my case) don’t even go and if you go spend a single day. To visit Ephesus you can stay in Selçuk which is where the ruins are and is small and very very cute. You're gonna be quieter. But if you want a less touristy and more Turkish real experience if I recommend it.
Very nice Erman, our guide. He picked us up at the exact point at the agreed time, explained the history of each place we visited, helped us make some purchases for the inn and even invited us to a Turkish coffee and tea.
