After greeting, we will have 20 mins. Drive to Ephesus area. Ephesus (Rev. 2:1-7), the major port city on the Aegean, was the commercial, political, and religious center of all of Asia Minor. The city became part of the Roman Empire in the second century B.C. As a Roman capital of Asia Minor, Ephesus boasted a population approaching 250,000 people. The Apostle Paul’s first visit to Ephesus was brief—during his second missionary tour (Acts 18:19-21). His second visit lasted about three years—during his third missionary tour (Acts 19:1 to 20:31). Luke’s account of the worship of Diana appears in Acts 19:34-35. The Great Theatre (stadium) mentioned in Acts 19:29-31 could seat 25,000 people. Walk the marble-paved street with grooves made by chariot wheels. See the Fountain of Trojan, the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre.

Our guide was Tan, he was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly and made the day fantastic! Would highly recommend him and the tour.
Our visit to Ephesus was truly an unforgettable experience. Walking through the ancient city and knowing that the Apostle Paul once walked these very streets made the experience especially meaningful to us. Our guide, Yuvasi, was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and did an excellent job bringing the history and biblical significance of each location to life. His stories and explanations made every stop even more memorable. This was more than just sightseeing—it was a meaningful journey through history and faith. We are so grateful for the experience and the beautiful memories we made in Ephesus. We highly recommend this tour!
A wonderful tour of Ephesus with our very knowledgeable tour guide, Elissávet. Kusadasi came alive through her biblical commentary, and introductions to the local culture. We could not have had a better time!
Our guide was superb, both delightful and entertaining.... with wonderful local, historical & religious commentary. Very enjoyable stops at the Turkish rug weavers, and the ceramic pottery family shop. And the luncheon at the Agora was quite good. We could not have had a better time, and felt that we truly enjoyed the culture of Ephesus!
★★★★★ Absolutely the Best Tour We Have Ever Taken! If I could give Gangas and this tour more than five stars, I would. What we thought would be a standard excursion turned into one of the most meaningful travel experiences of our lives. We accidentally booked a private tour, and from the moment Gangas greeted us at the port, we knew this day would be special. Gangas is an incredible guide. As a retired engineer, he has an amazing ability to explain history, archaeology, culture, and biblical significance in a way that is both fascinating and easy to understand. His knowledge of Ephesus is extraordinary, but what truly sets him apart is his genuine kindness and passion for sharing his country. He made us feel less like tourists and more like friends. Throughout the day he introduced us to local friends, shared authentic Turkish tea, traditional Turkish coffee, and an incredible local meal. We visited Ephesus, the Terrace Houses, the Basilica of St. John, and the Temple of Artemis, but we also experienced the warmth and hospitality of Türkiye in a way that most visitors never do. On a personal level, this tour meant even more to me. Gangas reminded me so much of my grandfather, whom we lost three years ago. His gentle demeanor, wisdom, and even the fact that he was a retired engineer made me feel an unexpected sense of comfort throughout the day. What started as a sightseeing tour became something deeply meaningful, and I will always be grateful for that gift. If you are considering a tour of Ephesus, don’t hesitate for a second. Book with Gangas. You won’t just learn about history, you’ll experience it through someone who truly loves sharing it. This was, without question, one of the highlights of our trip and a day we will treasure for the rest of our lives. Thank you, Gangas, for your kindness, your friendship, and for giving us memories that will last forever. May God bless you and your family.
The tour was quite impressive. The tour also included visits to a leather factory and to a rug factory. Ephesus was an excellent site to visit. The food was OK. Overall I would recommend this excursion.
Excellent tour from every perspective, historical, cultural and talents. We got to see and understand what we were visiting, what happened there and when , and what happened next. The pace was good, especially being able to avoid the crowds of tourists all around but still being able to see things ourselves. The tour could not have been better.
A private tour like Viator was great because there was a few special places to visit and with a lot of large cruise tours, it was crowded for them, but for a small private Viator tour, we could time our stops differently to have a better experience.
An amazing tour. Our guide Ekim’s knowledge was brilliant, he was so passionate about the history of Ephesus. The tour far exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend.
This was a splendid private tour. We had so many great places included. Our guide was deeply informative. We were treated to a great lunch of local favorites. We would highly recommend.
Knowledgeable guide and great experience. Hit all the sights without all the stress and hassle. Our guide Troy was amazing!
Selim was an awesome guide. Very personable, knowledgeable and engaging. We were blessed to spend the day with him.
My husband and I agreed that this was one of the most enjoyable tours we have ever been on. Our guide, Tansu (sp?), was delightful. She took time to explain the history of the ancient city and to answer our many questions. She made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and tried to avoid large groups around the exhibits. Our driver was excellent also. (Ulive?) I tend to get motion sickness, and she allowed me to sit in the front seat. Our Turkish lunch was delicious and in a beautiful rural location. We had fun learning about each other's cultures and languages! Such a pleasant and informative day we had! We highly recommend this tour, especially with Tamsu! My husband, the cat lover, enjoyed all the kitties. Someday we hope to return to Turkey.🙂
Good tour but I personally don’t like the shopping. We were dumped off in two different places. The little lunch place was outstanding.
Ozzie and driver were fabulous. We were well taken care of. Ozzie was very knowledgeable on Biblical history. Lunch was delicious. I was expecting perhaps 2 other people on the tour, but apparently private means just us, which was great.
Our guide, Emri, was the best! I would take another tour with him.
Our guide was very informative! The van was very comfortable for a group of 8. I would definitely recommend this tour.
We didn’t know much about Ephesus before. This tour was amazing. Troy was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. The lunch was delicious and restaurant very clean. Highly recommend this tour!
Our guide Yavuz was Amazon. We received personalized tours with great information. He was attentive to our wants and needs. Highly recommend this tour
Despite being a writer for a living (I'm not professional writing now, so please excuse errors), I have no words to tell you just how incredible this tour was. Mufasa's knowledge about Ephesus' Christian history was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Working in the ministry, I was eager to have quality conversations with our tour guide and Mufasa did not disappoint. While the area was extremely crowded, Mufasa navigated us around like a pro, taking us to the places we were sure we wanted to see. He tied all the history together in one beautifully woven story so well that he brought tears to my eyes. We also added on the Terrace Houses, which were incredible. We also stopped at St. John's Church, which was unexpected treat. We asked for a detour to the Virgin Mary's house and were obliged. Thank you, Mufasa, for making a lifetime memory for us. As a side note - be aware they have a deal with a local rug maker. There was A LOT of pressure to buy rugs. That was the one and only negative aspect of the tour. We really did not appreciate, or like this part of the tour.
Azura was fantastic..a professional guide who knows her STUFF..very informative..we saw all the right places and then some..the stop at the family pottery works was so wonderful..amazing information and quality products..NO PRESSURE TO PURCHASE Our driver was super helpful and the private van was exceptional.. Azura's English super..niceunch experience very easy and good..timely schedule..so much better than a crowded tour bus..we felt like royalty..thanks Azura
Loved the informative tour guide. Very interesting place to visit. Our lunch was excellent, and the demonstration of carpet weaving technique fascinating. Recommend you decline carpet viewing unless in the market for a high grade Turkish rug.
This was an amazing tour. Alex was a fantastic guide sharing rich history, Great knowledge of Ephesus, house of the Virgin Mary, and gave great recommendations. Lunch was authentic and delicious. We also really enjoyed visiting a carpet maker and learning about the process. This was the best tour we have ever been on!
