My experience was a once in a lifetime experience. We did the ancestry naming ceremony. Everything was well organized and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! The travel to the naming ceremony location was very comfortable and entertaining. We had wifi, air-conditioning, and reclining seats in the vehicle. All service promised was delivered, along a warm, family oriented welcome from the village. The views were amazing, we saw bamboo along the way, and we really got a chance to view the communities outside the cities. We ended our trip at a beautiful scenic restaurant on the Volta lake and river.

Loved this tour. Our tour guide and driver were very good. The vehicle was very nice. Water was provided. Tour guide was very knowledgeable, helpful, kind and patient. The naming ceremony was awesome. The village people were so warm and welcoming. A very incredible and memorable experience.
The soul reconnection is a wonderful experience. We learned , we cried, and we laughed with the people of the village. Kobe was an excellent tour guide.
The experience was Fantastic. Toufic and his colleague were gracious with our elders, considerate of our experience and professional in their approach. The experience was one that me and my family will never forget.
Our Guide, Toufic, was awesome. He was able to answer all of our questions, as well as assisted us with the Customs of the Village. Thank You!! The ceremony itself, was truly humbling, and brought forth emotions of finally being able to see one’s African Roots. It will be remembered for the rest of our lives.
Great experience to reconnect with my homeland. We learned the tribal significance of families and new borns and how they are named as added to the community
Great experience! Toufic was a great guide and the Togoma Village and the residents were hospitable and kind. Recommend this to everyone visiting Ghana.
A “must do” naming ceremony. It takes a village to choose the right name. A large number of community members took a personal interest in us, explained, and participated in the ceremony making this a truly welcoming and rich cultural experience. We went there as strangers and became family. Our tour guide, Toufic, was equally great; courteous, gracious, engaging and accommodating. We too are now family.
Our tour guide Toufic was amazing. He was knowledgeable about the history of Ghana, the culture, and the community called Torgome. Where our Naming ceremony was held, with the tribe, Ewes located in the Volta Region knew Toufic well. Toufic called ahead to inform the tribe of our arrival time which made the welcome of our presence so exciting. Lastly, Toufic took us to the Volta lake, explaining it was the 2nd largest man made lake which was very beautiful and to enjoy lunch at the amazing Restaurant called Afrikiko, put the cherry on top of everything. Overall, an amazing experience and great atmosphere. We look forward to returning soon and hope our tour guide will again be with Toufic. Happy 50th birthday to ME! Thanks for everything my brother, Toufic! Till next time, Marlon and Michelle Peace!
Toufic is the best tour guide that Ghana has to offer. Not only does he have an amazing personality but his astute observations help you to better understand the culture. It was the highlight of my trip to have the naming ceremony after visiting Slave River and Elmina Castle. The entire community are so welcoming upon your arrival. Please be prepared to give a gift to the Chief after the ceremony. I didn’t know what give before getting on my flight so I gave some cedis. Lunch was great and the view of Lake Volta was stunning. I’d recommend this to any descendant looking to learn about the traditions of your ancestors. It truly was a highlight for my trip. Request Toufic after you book.
An amazing experience learning more about my culture. The locals were very warm and welcomed us back into our home land.
From the moment our guide, Kobe, picked us up, we felt like family. His energy was like we knew each other since birth and he spoke to us from a place of love and protection. He is very knowledgeable about our past and present while remaining hopeful for what the future brings to Ghana. When we arrived in the Volta Region, the children greeted us like little cousins who haven't seen us in so long! The elders embraced us with a true "welcome back home, we miss you" energy. We walked through the village and greeted our neighbors. Walked to the clear river and took in the beauty of the area. Then walked back to dance and laugh and hug our people. The naming ritual was spiritual and authentic to the Region. The names chosen by the elders fit each of us PERFECTLY!!! The blessings received were given in abundance and I am forever grateful for this experience.
What An Experience. Members Of The Diaspora Returning To The Motherland, This Is Experience To Do When In Ghana. Once out of the city you get to witness the glorious, tranquil and healing sight of Akosombo, and then your naming ceremony is spiritual and restorative. I'm addition, you get to also have lunch at a picturesque lakeside restaurant. Toufic was an exceptional, charming, knowledgeable and professional tour guide with a gift for connecting with people. I will be doing another experience upon my next trip to Ghana. Peace and Blessings

My experience in Ghana was absolutely amazing due to Ghana Must Go Tours. Every day, they were early to pick us up from the hotel. Toufic, our guide was quite knowledgeable, kind, professional and made the trip very memorable. Toufic transformed our trip into an unforgettable adventure. His patience was remarkable, always taking the time to answer our numerous questions and making sure my friend and myself felt comfortable. Toufic took wonderful pictures to help us capture the beauty of Ghana. He also provided insightful commentary that enriched our experience. His deep understanding of Ghana's culture, history, and environment was evident and his passion for sharing it with us was truly inspiring. Our itinerary was exceptional. We were able to visit Cape Coast Castle, the ancestral river, umbrella rock, 2 beautiful waterfalls, the cocoa farm, the Shai Hills Reserve and Lake Volta. In addition, Toufic, introduced us to a beautiful village and we were able to partake in a memorable naming ceremony. Ghana Must Go Tours made the entire trip pleasant and enjoyable. Toufic went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience, tailoring the trip to meet out pace, interests and needs. Because of Toufic's exceptional punctuality, patience and profound knowledge made our trip to Ghana absolutely amazing. I highly recommend his services to anyone who is looking to explore Ghana.
I will treasure the entire experiences from the time Toufic collected me from my hotel, along the potholed roads, feeding the baboons along the road. The villagers were so welcoming. They let me have a go at making a clay pot which was great fun. Then there was my naming ceremony, I felt very moved and humble as I received my Ghanaian names. I felt a connection with the community. The entire trip is worth going on and can highly recommend it. Toufic is a true professional.
The experience was everything we hoped it would be and more. The people of Torgome were so welcoming and truly made us feel as though we had returned home. The naming ceremony was beautiful and we shall carry our memories always. Our guide Amara who collected us promptly from our hotel and took us to the most picturesque destination for lunch was also fantastic, friendly and very informative. We couldn't fault the day!
This was an experience I would never forget. Our tour guide Toufic was very professional and we felt comfortable and safe in his presence. He was knowledgeable, courteous and nice! The naming ceremony truly touched my husband and I. We felt so inspired and so welcomed to the village. We loved the dancing and the explanation that was provided for our new names. This experience was unmatched to anything else we did. It’s priceless. The truth is we almost canceled this tour because it was so expensive. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE THE BEST MONEY SPENT ON OUR TRIP! It worth the price! Tourfic even took us to a beautiful lunch on the lake! We will remember this forever.
From start to finish, booking this tour with Toufic was amazing and I left Ghana feeling like I have a new brother. 100% responsive and communicative before and after travels to Ghana. Showed up in time. Knowledgeable and personable in personality. The experience, with the lunch, was greater in value than what we paid. He explained things along the way, didn’t get annoyed with our many questions, and helped us feel safe and welcomed. I highly recommend booking this tour with Toufic and Ghanamustgotours. I really wouldn’t book with anyone else in the future.
I knew I wanted to do this experience before I stepped foot in Ghana and I’m sooo glad I did. As a first-generation American to Haitian-born parents, Togorme reminded me so much of my parent’s homeland. The people were welcoming and they felt so familiar. It truly felt as if we were family. The rituals were similar to those we see in Haiti. It felt nostalgic to be there and our local names truly resonated with who we were which was amazing as we had never been there before. The lunch that was provided was absolutely amazing. Our overall tour experience was made even more enjoyable thanks to our gracious and hospitable host, Toufic. His knowledge in so many areas and his love for meeting people was evident in the conversations held throughout the entire day. There was never a dull moment. He went above and beyond to show us Baboons when asked about them and he also took so many pictures for us. Overall, a truly welcoming and inspiring experience. The only constructive criticism I have would be to provide us access to bottled water sooner. It was a couple hours before we were able to hydrate in the Ghanaian heat. However, this was still a 5-star experience that I recommend to anyone who is a part of the African Diaspora.
This tour was everything that I could’ve asked for during my first trip to Ghana and Africa! We were welcomed with traditional dancing and drumming by our new village family and individually given our traditional birth and local names along with its significance and a small gift. We hugged and danced with our village family afterwards. It was such a moving and authentic experience. I truly felt welcomed back “home” to the Motherland. Also Amara was our tour guide, and he was very knowledgeable and professional. He made sure that we were comfortable and all of our questions were answered. We also met his business partner, Toufic, on the tour and had a delicious lunch at a lovely resort with beautiful views of Lake Volta. I highly recommend this tour and both Amara and Toufic of Ghana Must Go Tours!
We had a great time meeting the friendly villagers. A special thanks for the gifts we received along with our names. It was a great and rewarding day. Again, thank you.
I absolutely LOVED the experience! My tour guide was awesome from pick up to drop off. The ride was comfortable and I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking to get a deeper connection with their African roots. The Village was very welcoming and I LOVE my name. Lunch was great as well. The food and the view! Thank you to the team for an amazing experience!
This was our first outing in the country and Toufic did everything to make sure this experience was memorable. The professionalism was consistent as well as safe driving there and back. He was there during the ceremony which was a bit helpful in regards to translating and giving understandings to traditions. I would recommend this to everyone returning home. Wish I could have learned how to continue to give to the village throughout the year. The next stop was lunch and the spot was sumply amazing on the water! Sad bc I couldn’t upload my photos but trust it was special.
Our family did the Naming Ceremony tour & City Tour. Toufic is amazing, extremely knowledgeable, warm & friendly. We saw some breathtaking views of Ghana, learned a great deal of history, had an unforgettable experience with the Torgome village and and were welcomed back home! I was sad to go, but will hopefully return again soon and have Toufic show us everything we didn't have a chance to see on our first visit. I 100% recommend this group!
This was the best tour I've ever done (and I've done many). Not only was this a spiritual, emotional, and culturally-connecting experience, but it was made all the better by Toufic's great knowledge, openness, and relatability! This tour is well-planned, well-thought out, and well organized. You get to see and experience different parts of Ghana during the drive to the village, get to see Lake Volta and learn some history of that region, and then have the very special, sacred experience of receiving your Ghanaian name. We are so glad we booked this tour and feel like we have made not a friend, but family in Toufic. This tour is a must-do for anyone traveling to Ghana!
This experience was everything I hoped it would be. Our guide Kobe was fantastic and very knowledgeable. The people of the Torgome Village were very warm and made us feel at home. It was a spiritual experience that I highly recommend for those in the diaspora to experience.
My husband and I spent a week in Ghana and this was by far the best day. Our guide Toufic treated us like family, and meeting our new extended family in Torgome village was an emotional and spiritual experience. This was truly the journey of a lifetime!
This was the most awe inspiring experience, every black person in the world should take this tour. If you truly want to see a native village with the children, elders, and the community and how they live and interact, this is the tour to take. The naming ceremony is so touching, you can’t help but to experience a closeness to your roots and an appreciation for the kindness of the people. DEFINITELY should be added to any trip to Ghana. It is safe, Kobe was an excellent tour guide, couldn’t ask for anyone better.
This was such an amazing experience. Toufric, our guide, was warm and friendly. He shared so much cultural knowledge with us en route to the ceremony. He answered every question we had, and really enriched the experience. I chose this experience because I wanted to make sure I was selecting something that wasn’t a quick, commercial, surface-level experience. I assure you, it is not. The community was warm and you really felt a part of it. As people descended from kidnapped and enslaved W Africans, it was just what we needed to reclaim parts of ourselves lost. I highly recommend this experience. I’m sure others are good, but this one was amazing!
A must for those of the African diaspora wanting an authentic experience connecting to history and culture. I felt like ancestors were welcoming us with love through the wonderful people of the village.
This was an amazing experience with the Ewé community. Toufic is a great guide and conversationalist. I highly recommend this experience to our brothers and sisters returning home.
This was a unique and flawless experience. First of all- shout out to tour planner/owner Toufic. Very knowledgeable about the area who himself has a very rich and unique history and upbringing. He made me feel at home along with the Torgome Village Community. Naming ceremony made me feel special and feel more connected to my African bloodline. Ceremony lasted about 30 minutes with village playing music and dancing. Then the pouring of libations. They made a small pot/bowl with my given name and also my new name. The people of Torgome are Ewe. I learned so much about my history and witnessed what a real community looks like and how it works. I'll definitely be back. Also- I was given a bracelet that was tied to my wrist to end the ceremony. Black owned business. Make sure to support.
This was a experience of a life-time. It felt as if our ancestors were welcoming us back into the village we were taken from. They were warm, filled with wisdom, while explaining the importance a name held. Our guide was Toufic. He was warm, funny and highly intelligent. He introduced us to a restaurant, that sat in the most beautiful setting imaginable. Thankyou for an amazing day..
Toufic, our guide, was pleasant, funny, personable and professional. He arrived early and was very patient with our group. The vehicle was clean and efficient in keeping us safe and comfortable. The driver, Oliver, was also very nice and warm towards us. He was very accommodating when we wanted to stop for food or to use the ATM or restrooms. The experience at the village in Togome was so heartwarming and authentic. The village elders and the community received us warmly and we felt right at home as we danced, learned, played with the children and were welcomed home with our new names. I am a travel planner and I am very critical of details that please my clients. My clients were very pleased and I look forward to recommending this tour again for future travelers to Ghana.
