I love this excursion because I was to see Baboons, climb mojo hill, we eat at this wonderful river side restaurant called Afrikaans. The food was delicious, we also did a boat ride around the river , such a great experience. I wanna thank both tour guides Richard at Shia Hills Reserve and Kofi with the tour company so knowledgeable and professional.

This excursion was awesome, from going to Shia Hills Reserve, seeing the cheeky baboons, climbing Mojo Hills, having lunch at the river side restaurant Afrikaans, and last but not least going on the boat ride around the river. This is one of the best experiences I had in Accra. My tour guide Kofi was professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. Oh and how can I forget the park ranger Richard at Shia Hills he is so knowledgeable about the animals on the reserve.
The experience was good. They are on time for pick-up and the days activities were good. Very scenic Trip
Great experience. As a Ghanaian I was pleased my wife who was a foreign loved it and wants to come back to my country for more trips
The whole experience was really nice. The staff members were amazing and very welcoming Special thanks to Mr Patrick, Emmanuella, and Mikki for making the experience even better. Thank you so much guys. I look forward to using your service again.
It was very educational and the tour was a lovely experience I would definitely visit again
They canceled the trip because it rained. It’s the rainy season? Maybe they shouldn’t be open and taking reservations? I was sad because it was my last full day in Ghana and I budgeted for this so I could see some of the beautiful country only to have them cancel because it was rainy. They were nice about it, and very apologetic and offered to reimburse me. I think if it’s the case they aren’t available for the rainy season they shouldn’t accept any reservations
This was an easy nice leisurely tour that does not take a most of your day. It is easy to get to the location of activities. Shai Hills was very nice. The rock climbing was so much fun. Afterwards we enjoyed a nice boat ride on the Lake. Our boat became the party boat. Then we enjoyed a delicious buffet meal. Niiiiice!!! Our tour guide and driver was really good.
Such a great experience. The tour guides (Patrick and Kofi) were very personable, knowledgeable, and overall made the experience very pleasant. The views were great. I had a good time!
I had sutch a lovely experience in Natrue. Due to the bad road we had to hike 5 km to Shai hills and that was so fun. I am glad we where able to walk in nature. Wisdom was a great guide. Highly recommend this experience.
My spouse and I had a truly great time on this wonderful day trip from Accra! We very much enjoyed the serene landscapes of Shai national Parc and Volta River. Emanuel was a perfect guide and went to great lengths to cater to our interests and personalize the experience. At our request, we went for a walk in the Shai hills and we stopped at Akosombo bridge for a short stroll across and foto opportunity. Everything else was also arranged perfectly. We had lunch in a very nice restaurant with a beautiful terrace overlooking the river and went on a peaceful and relaxing boat ride. On the way to the sites, we had a very pleasant and interesting chat with Emanuel and learned a lot a bout Ghanaian food and music. Thank you so much for this wonderful outing!
Good day trip out of Accra. Be sure to wear good sneakers for the rock climbing - much more of an actual climb including with ropes portions, though the guides are available to support. The lunch and boat ride balanced out th3 day we'll.
Host cancelled the tour the night before due to a family emergency. I think it probably would’ve been a good experience.
The tour was great and the guide was also very professional and helpful.
Who is the operator of this tour?
I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism, knowledge and ease of booking with this company!!! Our driver Daniel was so laid back and with us every step of the way making sure we were comfortable and safe! He was truly a pleasure and even gave us some history about some of the areas that we passed by on the way to our excursion. If you want quality tours, affordable prices and reliable services please book right now!!!! Tips for the excursions: pack your favorite light snacks or breakfast bars. We did stop for snacks on each excursion but I found it hard to find breakfast items that were quick and on the go, we traveled from the US. There are NO breakfast sandwiches that I’ve seen in Ghana (bacon, egg and cheese croissants, sausage biscuits, bagels and cream cheese), no prepackaged granola bars, so you’ll want to visit a ShopRite grocery store in the area to buy foods to have for early morning activities or bring them from wherever you’re traveling from. Water and fun was provided!!! Get your camera and video settings prepared once you book because the memories will be priceless!!
You have to be mobile and it does require some steep climbing. The views are beautiful in the mountains and on the lake and we learned a lot. The guides were great.
This was a wonderful combo tour. Whether you feel a connection to nature or are an aquaphile (drawn to water), it fits the bill. The boat ride concluded a serene day trip. The guides were great too. Highly recommended.
Of all the tours I’ve had in Ghana, Expedition Go has been the most professional. Not only are they extremely accommodating and flexible, they take the renowned Ghanaian hospitality to another level. What I really enjoyed is you can also ask them non-tour related questions and they always have the answers. If Ghana is Africa for beginners, then let these guides hold your hand and show you what this country has to offer.
It was a great day trip out of Accra without spending too much time in the car and still getting out in the nature. The boat cruise was fantastic and Emanuel was a great tour guide! He was a fun time, great playlist, excellent driver, and it was fun to connect with a local guide. Would def recommend for a fun day outside of the city without over exerting yourself.
Peter was an excellent, smart, and attentive guide that knows the areas and other routes in case of a traffic jam. He taught us a lot about the city and helped us understand how to get around on our own. The Shai Hills reserve was most interesting, but don't expect a full Safari, expect maybe 5 or 6 animals in the wild and education about the Shai Hill preserve. Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots because you want to climb the rock mountain and get that perfect view. The river boat ride was beautiful and calm. Be prepared for very rough Ghanaian roads to get to both locations. The government has not consistently maintained the roads.
I was a bit hesitant about booking this tour but I’m so glad I did. It was a really great day that is a good balance of activity with the short hike and climb using the ropes, beautiful nature from seeing the animals and then the boat ride was a great end to the day. I even got to ride the boat myself. The thing that made the trip particularly special was my tour guide Peter. He went above and beyond to make the day a great experience for our group. I was a solo traveller and Peter took lots of great pictures for me. It was also my birthday and he added an extra stop that was not part of the itinerary to a cocoa farm as well as a viewpoint to see the whole of Accra. He was an incredible guide and I’m so grateful for the amazing day he made it. I would recommend others to book this tour.
We did not do this trip because of the rain but other options were substituted and the trip was great. We covered a lot of ground and the trip took longer than expected but the scenery was marvelous.
Fantastic experience with Expedition-Go Tours Ghana. Our drive/guide couldnt have been more helpful or considerate and got us to all our sites on time, as I was conscious that we needed to be back in Accra for our flight home, so the team were so great tailoring the tour times and getting us back in time. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and looked after us well. The sites were amazing and definitely a highlight of our trip!! Would recommend in a heart beat.
What an experience!!! We learned so much about our ancient ancestors history!!! Love this tour, it’s a must take!! Ghana is nice
Great Trip with Peter! I was on this excursion as a solo traveler with 2 other solo travelers. This review is about the excursion company not the cruise itself which is operated by a separate company: I was picked up on time, perhaps even a bit early. I was told to manage my expectations in Ghana- that time is flexible. I can offer that the pick up time was confirmed the night before for both tours I booked with this company and the guides arrive in time or a little early- Perfect! The transport vehicle was modern and had excellent AC for this trip. The other trip less modern but still comfortable and cool. The trip was as described. Now that I’ve traveled with a different local tour company, I can compare and contrast the differences- and this was significantly better. The journey was long but comfortable. Cold water came readily. No loud music. Pleasant sounds and smells throughout. Have I mentioned this company was significantly better than others I encountered on my trip to Ghana? Clean bathroom facilities are a must and I recall asking the preferred location to use the bathroom and got helpful advice! Thanks again Peter. Great eatery at the Lake, appropriately, highly recommended. Peter suggested we order first and the food was ready when we got back from the beautiful trip on the water. We weren’t rushed to eat and get back on the road- much appreciated. The handoffs to the site tour guides was seamless. The individuals with whom we traveled the two sites were lovely, informative, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. 10/10 day trip
Peter was an excellent guide and driver. He was even early to pick us all up. The minivan was comfortable and air conditioned, which was very welcome on such a hot day (36 degrees). The mountain 'hike' was only very short, but offered great views over the area. Not many animals about, apart from baboons and the zebra and ostriches in the penned area. All fees were included in the package - just lunch to pay for, which was huge and absolutely delicious. Boat ride was fun and great views of the islands and bridge. Ride back to Accra was long due to heavy traffic, but we'd all had a great day.
The guide Emmanuel was fantastic and super helpful. It was great to have power and WiFi in the vehicle. The vehicle itself was really comfortable. The land reserve tour was a bit short. The river boat ride was lovely but also more brief than I expected. It's hard to do a lot in a day, but we spent the majority of the time driving to places as opposed to enjoying them.
I enjoy exceedingly wonderful time with a fantastic guide and two fabulous visitors from Canada … because all of us are very well like close brothers. Shai Hills Reservation is absolutely stunning and awesome … I climb up to top of rock hill and fall in love with an awesome panoramic scenery of lovely savannah, bush trees, mountains and amazing landscape … a ranger is so superb, friendly and great. Then later my group and I are so happy to have a fantastic boat cruise along magnificent River Volta with beautiful green lush on riverbanks and numerous gorgeous palm trees. A lovely boat cruise crew are so generous to a Canadian visitor and me to drive along legendary River Volta so proud where I was born and bred in Ghana by my British parents before moved into UK. Huge thanks to a wonderful guide for making all of us really enjoyable and happiest - 10 out of 10 !!!
The experience from start to finish was professional. Customer service was first class. I had an amazing time George and his accompanying guide were super friendly, knowledgeable about the areas we passed through on our way to the trip. The drive through the Safari, hike which was done by the park guide was superb. The final trip on the boat was amazing. On the way back we stopped to get hot bread and cakes. A must for the homeward journey. I was kindly assisted by the team to get an Uber home at the end of the day. Which they ensured I was safely taken home. I highly recommend. Best service for my first trip to Ghana. Thank you both.
Our tour guides George and Peter were very pleasant and informative.A wonderful experience in Shai Hills and on the boat! Enjoyed the day immensely!
I really enjoyed my first trip with the team I appreciate the ❤️✌🏽✌🏽🍭 They are so amazing , the tour guide too was so good and he treated us so special ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
Michael and Peter are very attentive and knowledgeable about the history and culture of the Shia Hill Reserve. The Akosombo boat ride was very relaxing and beautiful scenery.
Thomson was an exceptional guide, very attentive to our needs. Excellent explanations throuugh the tour, very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed it all!
the excursion was wonderful, informative, interesting, fun, different. Godfred our tour guide was very helpful, friendly, and kind. he made the whole time good fun! and where we stopped to eat was well the wait! my favourite food so far out of our trip! we hope to have Godfred on our next tour and when we visit again!
From when we were picked up by Felix to when we were dropped off, the Tour was cordial, smooth, friendly and respectful...Felix and all the Tour guides were cordial and very friendly...taking their time to explain every step ...the history of the burds/animals, and the historical nature monuments. It's interesting to learn about the ancestry of the Shia and their episodes with the arrival of the Germans. Greatly appreciated.
This was our second tour with Expedition-Go Tours, and it was even better than the first! We specifically requested the same guides, Eben and Michael, because they are simply exceptional. They were incredibly kind, patient, and attentive—especially with our elders, who were the focus of our family trip. Their thoughtfulness, knowledge, and genuine care stood out in every moment. The company’s communication was also excellent, keeping us updated and making the whole experience smooth and easy. But truly, it was Eben and Michael who made the experience unforgettable. We absolutely appreciate them and are deeply grateful for the way they turned a great tour into something truly special. Highly recommended! -Mr. Frank
I enyoyed the peaceful nature of Shai Hills, the walk and the savanne views. For me the walk might have lasted longer. Alsof the boottrip was fun. Relaxed and comfortabele. Last but not least I want to Menton that my guide Godfred was great. We had nice conversations!!!
Ebenezer proved to be an exemplary tour guide, ensuring that my father, cousin, and I had a memorable and enriching experience. Of particular importance was the sense of safety we felt throughout the excursion. While we have participated in similar tours facilitated by other providers whilst here in Ghana, we often experienced a degree of unease with the driving practices of some operators. In contrast, Ebenezer’s professionalism and attentiveness as a driver greatly contributed to our comfort and confidence during the journey. From a personal standpoint, I was especially appreciative of the manner in which Ebenezer adapted the itinerary to accommodate the needs of the elder member of our group—my father—without diminishing the experience for other participants. His ability to discreetly adjust aspects of the tour, such as moderating the physical demands of certain activities (e.g., climbing), while maintaining the dignity and inclusion of all group members, was commendable. This level of sensitivity exemplifies a high standard of practice in inclusive tourism. Furthermore, the thoughtful incorporation of smaller, culturally significant stops—such as our visit to Hot Oven to sample freshly baked Ghanaian bread—enhanced the authenticity of the overall experience. On this basis, I would strongly recommend Ebenezer’s services to prospective visitors.
It was great! The guide picked us up early and was very informative. I really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended
Thompson was great! I enjoyed his energy and his knowledge. He was on time and made sure we got back to out hotel. I would highly recommend a tour with this company.
This was my second tour with this company and again it was well organised with excellent communication. Eben my guide was steller! He is an all rounder, guide, photographer, historian etc. He was punctual, super friendly, professional and, he showed great care. He drove well, his car was comfortable and air conditioned. The highlight of the trip was the boat tour, the region and lake is stunning. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The tour guide at the safari was also good and very knowledgeable. 10/10 would recommend and would use them again.
We did the full-day excursion in Accra. The safari part was just okay — we only saw a three zebras, one ostrich, one snake caged in and some monkeys and a bamboo. The highlight for me was definitely the boat cruise — it was calm, relaxing, and a nice change after the safari. What really made the trip worthwhile was our guide, Moses. He knew so much about the area and kept the group engaged the whole day. He also checked in often to make sure everyone felt safe and comfortable, which I appreciated. If you book this trip, ask for Moses — he made a so-so day into a memorable one.
I enjoyed the tour the tour guide Moses was great the car had air condition and I like the fact that Moses love R&B just like me it was a vibe I will tour with him again
Nice positive vibes with a beautifull nature. In Shai Hills and environment. The guide has organised very well the safari and boat tour.
I had a wonderful time at Shai Hills. My tour guide was excellent he took his time to make sure I was well taken care of and explained the history of the cavemen in great detail. I especially loved the view from the top of the rocks and seeing the animals—most notably, the zebra, which was a beautiful sight. The boat tour was also a lovely experience. Overall, I highly recommend this tour!
It was really nice to get out of the city and see a cooler green area. I don’t know if I had a favorite part. It was all pretty fun. I think I would have liked to see the safari in that area but missed the opportunity. I think touching the wall behind the waterfall was really special and see how people live. Make sure to wear a bathing suit when you go to the falls but take it off after. Thanks Peter and George for taking care of me.
The guide came to pick us up very early, he was professional and helpful It is an unforgettable experience. I recommend choosing Kokou for the Shai Hills tour.
A very well organized and very informative tour to the Shai Hills and Akosombo with boat tour. We had a very nice and dedicated guide who gave us a lot of interesting information about Ghana.
It was a great trip and you once came out of Accra to see the beautiful nature of Ghana. We were a small group of four people and therefore it was super pleasant
