Booked tour but no one responded and repeated attempts to contact via Whatsapp went unanswered. This was the one tour I was really really looking forward to, as I wanted to support the Ghanaian women and learn to cook some of the food. Very disappointed I did not get to do this.

They did not show up, no contact was made. After over an hour in the rain I was told one of the hosts passed away months ago. They never answered the phone and it was really disappointing.
Worth it, absolutely worth it. This will give you a FULL and REAL Ghanaian experience. You will help cook two dishes that you select off of a menu and get to taste real home style local cooking. All three sisters help you during the cooking process and are nothing but hospitable and kind. It was fun to see a different side of life that, as an American, I am completely unfamiliar with. Go because you want to be fully immersed into normal Ghanaian culture and cuisine. You will feel at home. P.S. beer is only GHS 20 for a large bottle!!! Request it with the meal (you will need to pay cash).
This was an authentic, local experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was local. If you are looking for a western cooking class, this is not for you! If you want to experience how locals cook…this is for you. Come willing tonlearn and appreciate thw taste of great, local food! Your palate will know the difference after this class. It is unforgettable. Take the class, be educated and enjoy some delicious, authentic and local food. Ghana has great food!
This was a great experience. Irene and her family were wonderful. It was a great way to see how a family in Ghana lives and get a better idea of how the extended family works.
If you can get a driver to pick you up and take you there it would be better and less eventful. The uber driver I used could not find the venu. He was very helpful, he stayed with me until someone agreed to help me. I ended up getting help from a nice older woman and her granddaughters. They were very nice they took me to a location to meet my host and stayed with me until she arrived. The host arrived and the girls left, warm handoff! Irene, the host was very apologetic. We went on to make a great lunch. She involved me, hands on! I have muscles from stiring the banku. The meal turned out well and I enjoyed it with her. Her husband and son were there, the son took pictures and sent them to me. The husband engage with me. The atmosphere was truly warm and positive. This is a great family venu!
We had a fantastic session with aunties Linda and Doreen—they were so sweet and taught us every step carefully such that it would be easy to remember when we go back home to try on our own. It came out very delicious and was a very authentic experience where we got to use multiple types of mortar and pestles! Making fufu was tough but fun! The aunties also taught us many words and phrases in their language (Ga) which added to the personalness of the lesson. One note—the description needs to be updated. There was no marketplace activity and the class itself was about 2 hours. Oyiwalad)n aunties!
This was a great experience! We had an opportunity to really engage with locals in a local environment. The food we helped prepare was very good and the host was delightful. Definitely recommend!
Went with friends and it was a really enjoyable experience! We cooked with aunty Patience and ut was very interactive, hands on and fun! We learned a lot and aunty Patience was great, patient and funny! I'd deffo recommend
One of the best tours I experienced in Ghana! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Auntie Irene as she showed us how to make banku, fried fish, stew, chicken and jollof rice. My fav was the jollof rice. So good! I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it as good as Auntie but I’m glad I at least saw the process. The experience really makes you appreciate the local dishes even more.
We canceld before the Activity took place because I asked in advance If we are going to the market together Like in the description written. We were really looking Forward to it. But they Said they are Not doing this anymore, because of the colour of our skin an said Something about increasing prices and so on. So they are selling an experience they don't offer - that is not the way it should be.
The experience was great! Everything was amazing. Love learning all the new recipes from patience and her family and friends.
The person did not show, and when another person called on my behalf the person hung up on them. Sorely disappointed
Was met by Pat and once agreed the menu off we went to the market. Arrived at friends house and sat in shade watching Pat’s amazing knife skills cutting and peeling plantain and cassava for the Fou Fou. Helped by her friend, everything was cooked on 2 charcoal burners and tasted amazing. Such a great experience, and fun couple of hours. We took notes of ingredients and will try back at home! Doubt will taste as good as Pat’s! 100% recommend!
My husband really enjoyed the history of cooking in Ghana and had so much fun while participating. The foods were similar to our country’s and so it was interesting to see how difference in spices provided such a different experience Thank you
This was very a very authentic cooking experience. My hosts Patience and Irene were considerate and answered all my questions about the ingredients (and I asked many!) Patience was aptly named and helped me prepare the food for the Kontomere stew and as I was her elder, they then cooked for me on their coal heated burners. Their skills in using very basic equipment as a number of Ghanians still do, yet producing the most wholesome and tasty food, without salt or any processed seasoning is amazing. When I return to Ghana, I will certainly return to this friendly, cosy and genuine kitchen. Thank you for all your attention today ladies x
This was an amazing experience. Ms Pat and her family were very warm and welcoming. The food was amazing and we had good conversation and laughter the whole time. My wife and I left with a fulls stomach and hearts filled with joy. I highly recommend this tour.
Had the best experience with Gifty, she made sure I understood everything and made everything I wanted. Such a good morning. Thank you
Everyone one involved was so helpful and very friendly. I think they went above and beyond to show us how to prepare a new dish.
The cooking class was a wholesome experience. I apperiate my guide Ms. Gifty and her supportive family.
The experience is not what I had expected. I expected to be more hands on involved and that wasn’t the case. The prepping of the ingredients were already done. I chose the the okra stew with banku. When it came to cooking banku, I did get to help a bit, but when it came to cooking the stew, the lady pretty much did everything- even the seasoning. Now it was time to eat, and I ate by myself while they were sitting there watching. It really wasn’t a comfortable or pleasant experience. I’m all for supporting people to help them earn money, but I too have to work for my money and I like it to be well spent. I do not recommend this experience..sorry.
This cooking experience was a highlight of our trip. We booked this at the beginning of our trip, and ended up circling back to Accra and meeting back up with our friends from this experience. We made fufu, had drinks, and got a tour of the local neighborhood. We were introduced to Joseph, a local tailor who made incredible outfits for my girlfriend and I. If you're looking to get to know some locals, I'd consider this a must-do -- make your reservation.
I enjoyed the experience although it was different than listed in the itinerary. Be sure to ask for details and an address to find their town, as I had difficulty with that. I then met Linda and DD and went into their store. Linda had things prepared and I helped her to cut some vegetables. She showed me how to cook jollof. I then was able to enjoy a nice meal. They were generous in answering questions about Ghana food and culture. It was about 1.5 hours total.
Learned a lot about Ghanaian cooking. Although there are many ways to cook okra fish stew, Doreen showed me the simple and easy way to prepare a tasty meal
Although it was not a full day class, it was still a great experience! The food was delicious. The class lasted about 2 hours, which was perfect for us. Also, very grateful that Linda was able to connect me with a local seamstress. Very nice lady!
This was certainly one of the highlights of my trip! Forget the experience of making the food, the food itself was the best that I have had in the country by far. I made fufu with palm nut soup and it was absolutely amazing! So good, in fact, that I special ordered some jollof for dinner as takeaway and it was better than places I've tried like Chez Clarisse and Buka. Linda and DD were both pleasant and booking/scheduling was a breeze. I highly recommend the activity!
What a great morning and afternoon with Linda and DD and locals from their community. They took me shopping in the local market, then to Linda’s bar for cooking. They thought me how to cook banku. We fried fish and made sauce. The meal was wonderful and the company even better. So interesting to talk and learn how these very kind people go through their everyday life.
This tour brought us into a neighborhood not too far from airport area. The ladies assisting in cooking with us were kind and funny. We got to make Fufu and had it with a soup. The guide was very flexible and easy to communicate with.
I really enjoyed this cooking class, as a solo traveller i love to experience the culture through food. This was the perfect cooking class for this! Doreen and others were so welcoming and kind, they made me feel comfortable. They provided me with refreshments and supported me step by step through the cooking class and the food let me tell you... the food was delicious you can choose what you would like to make and i learnt how to make fufu. Turns out fufu is one of my favourite foods. I 100% recommend this cooking class, you will learn so much about accra and about Gaa people. I was also able to pick up some Gaaa which was amazing. The best thing about this whole cooking class was the amazing organisation and welcoming nature of everyone. A truly ghanaian experience. I would definetly come back and do it again. Thank you to everyone.
