We had Cecilia and Winston as our guides for the day. Both lovely people. Winston was the driver, very safe and conscientious. It was an action packed 4hrs. We covered some of the major Accra sites, which would have taken us days to navigate on our own. They are both very knowledgeable about the area. The talks were respectfully done. They had arranged one-on-one tours at several of the sites. We felt well cared for the entire day. We capped off the tour with a delicious lunch, best jollof rice and chicken we’ve had in Accra. They took us to a local restaurant. Overall 5 star treatment for the entire day. It was very laid back and chill. I enthusiastically recommend this tour! Many thanks to Cecilia and Winston!

Getting the chance to see Accra and explore the key points of this rich city was memorable. I loved every minute of my time. The photo ops were incredible. Going to Osu Castle and seeing the Door of No Return was touching. Realizing that Queen Elizabeth once slept in Osu Castle and that Barack Obama visited the same place I did was remarkable. The market was so much fun. Brace yourself if you decide to go. I liked the controlled chaos. Black Star Gate is essential for any visit to Accra. Just a great way to get to know such a vibrant city and culture.
Thoroughky recommend the Accra tour for a quick, but detailed whistle stop tour. My girl Ruth from Kaya Tours was the greatest! Very friendly, knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to make me feel at ease on the tour. Dr Kwame Nkrumah Park was amazing, shame you can't take pics inside, but still well worth it. Taking pics on top of Independence Square was an experience too. The Du Bois tour and The Musuem were also great, a lot of history in this country well worth exploring. Thanks Ruth for showing me the highlights of Accra 🇧🇴😊❤️!!!
Gilbert was so fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and went off the itinerary to show me other things I was interested in. He also paid for me to try some street food! I loved my tour and had no issues being a solo female traveller. Book here you won't regret it!
If you have a short amount of time to see Accra and want a guide to get you around and explain the history and culture, this is a great option.
This is a very pleasant experience. Our guide was Freedom, he was so kind and patient with us. He answered all our questions, he was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We booked this tour the day before and it was so easy. The company got in contact with us almost immediately to confirm everything. I’d recommend this to a friend or anyone I know traveling to Ghana. I was very happy to share and learn about the rich history of this country. We went to museums and national parks; all in a few hours. Thank you for a lovely experience; one we’ll remember forever.
Our tour was supposed to start at 9AM. After reaching out and attempting to figure out what was going on, I got a call at 9:30AM asking me to switch my tour to 2PM. I told them that wouldn’t work and was still given the runaround. They finally said they would come at 10:20AM which was still an annoying inconvenience. Once the tour started it was ok, the driver was accommodating but the lack of communication and late start really left a bad taste in our mouths.
We made a last minute reservation for this tour and we delighted to get immediate confirmation of availability. Emmanuel was our driver guide and he picked us up at our hotel - in a comfortable sedan. He talked with us briefly about his suggested plan for the day. He was happy to adjust plans based on our preferences. We had a great tour of Accra, visiting numerous interesting places. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Ghana, and provided us with excellent "on location" guides at several of the historic sites and museums. At the end of the tour we asked him about a convenient place to get great Ghanian food and he offered to take us to one and wait for us. Instead he called in an order, drove by to pick it up, and then took us to our hotel. Overall the half-day tour was exactly what we hoped for and we would highly recommend this tour, as well as our tour guide Emmanuel.
Loved visiting Black Star and learning about Accra History. The museum was informative and guides were animated, kept my interest.
This was an excellent tour. Our tour guide Winston was very professional, nice, and knowledgeable about the history of Accra and Ghana. We loved all the stops we made, such as the W.E.B. DuBois Centre in Accra. We cannot recommend this tour highly enough. We are already booking our next tour with the same company.
I went on this tour as a solo traveler, and despite my insistence on not being touched or hit on, the tour guide made me feel uncomfortable and awkward for most parts. I had to get my husband to call the tour company and call the tour guide - even then, the tour guide became slightly hostile. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience.
Had a wonderful day with Emmanuel! He was a perfect guide, good communication regarding pick up, attentive to the needs/wishes of our group and incredibly kind. Would recommend to any and everyone!
Our tour guide (Ishmael) was very cordial, accommodating, and knowledgeable about Ghanaian culture and history. This was one of the best ways to learn about the history of the city of Accra and Ghana. The tour ended with a delicious lunch at Gold Coast Restaurant and we also were able to try delicious snacks from the Makola Market.
Great private tour of Accra. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared some interesting facts about Ghana's history.
David was amazing. Met all expectations!! He went above and beyond to show us Accra and gave us an experience we wouldnt have received anywhere else.
Ishmael was very kind, patient, and flexible with my travel requirements - early start, changing stops around. He got me great street food, and kept in touch!
My guide was David. He arrived on time was very courteous, friendly and respectful. Most of all he was very knowledgeable regarding Ghana’s history. I learned a lot and I am thankful that some of my misconceptions were cleared up.
Ishmael was professional and knowledgeable of the sights he took me to. He was able to answer all my questions. The tour wasn’t rushed, and it was a really good value for the customer care you receive.
Great experience! I was the only one on this tour. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure to get all the best photos of me and help me experience the best of the food and local culture. Really took care of me and helped me to explore Accra.
David was an excellent tour guide. He was very interesting and informative and he knew all the best places to go. I would definitely recommend him and this tour.
This is one of the best tours I have had during my stay in Accra. The tour was organized by David he made sure that we visited all the areas as mentioned. David provided his historical perspective of Accra and the meanings behind different monuments in Accra. Each places we went to had their own tour guides and it was interesting as well. The highlight of the tour was seeing the historical pictures of Kwame Nkrumah taken during his lifetime and Queen Elizabeth's and Prince Charles' bed at the Osu Castle. I highly recommend this tour!!
Each tour was very thoroughly done, so informative and had some great views also got some gifts to take home to family which was a huge plus!
Everything was excellent 👌 David our driver and guide made the experience so Beautiful 😍 I recommend everyone to this great experience 😀
What an amazing tour! We were taken to see some of the landmarks in Ghana and we loved every minute. This tour was rich in history and beauty. We learned a wealth of information and we are grateful. Most importantly we had the opportunity to have THE ABSOLUTE BEST HOSTS!!! Everyone was so very knowledgeable and did not leave any questions unanswered. Our tour guide was David and he was superb. This guide went above and beyond to ensure we got everything we needed from this tour. Very accommodating, respectful, thoughtful and did the entire tour with a beautiful smile. Thank you to everyone involved. We are grateful ❤️
amazing experience. David was absolutely amazing. he shared his knowledge of the country with us & he was super funny
This tour was absolutely amazing. We visited all the places as mentioned but our guide, Ishmael, went above and beyond from the beginning. Our day started with Makola Market but due to traffic, we were stuck. Ishmael answered questions we had about the market and had us try the fried cassava and coconut treats. So good! There were also refreshments available on the truck just in case. At some point my cousin ask about fabric that we saw from the truck. Ishmael got out and brought the vendor to us. CRAZYYYY! His partner came to move the truck a bit and Ishmael was steady working for us… getting beads and everything. NONE of us expected this and it was certainly above any service that any of us expected. We got all our shopping done right there. Lol. At the end of our tour, there was lunch provided at Laboma Beach. The canopy set up and lunch were great. At some point, Ishmael had gotten my 8 year old a kite and showed her how to fly it. Again, awesome! If you’re searching for who to tour with, your search can stop right here. I’m certain you will be please. Best regards to all.
We were unanimously satisfied as three Afropean ladies of different age groups visiting Accra for the first time. Despite the hard history we've spent an enjoyable day. Our tourguide is friendly and kind, very knowledgeable, informative, attentive person and a great driver. You will meet different tour guides on the sites. We were taken care of at all times. Hotel-pick up worked perfectly even though we booked a day before. We recommend this well organised half day tour, especially if you stay close to Osu. We will book again with KayaTours. Thank you for everything!
Excellent tour of Accra Ghana! We really enjoyed the tour and found it very informative. Our tour guide David was very accommodating and helpful.
This was one of my favorite tours I’ve been on in all my travels. I learn so much from each place we visited. Every tour guide was very knowledgeable about the places and history of the places we were. I highly recommend kaya tours!
From start to finish everything about the tour was memorable. the tour guy David made it so fun and interesting for us. He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable, kind. The whole experience was just great.
We enjoyed our tour. It was enlightening and our tour guide is very knowledgeable. He provided us with lots of great pictures and videos.
Excellent knowledge of history, very resourceful in getting us into castle. Had a great time, highly recommend this tour.
My driver was very helpful. He took pictures and videos for me and my husband during the tour. The tour guides at the landmarks were very knowledgeable. We enjoyed our time and got to learn a lot about Accra. The reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was because the tour was supposed to start at 8 a.m. but it didn't until 9:30 a.m. He made up for it by spending more time at the market and he negotiated prices for us.
Best tour I've ever had. Gilbert, the guide is very well mannered. The patience, the passion shown, fun tour and enabling me to take as much info as he shared. High Five to Kayatours. I'm bringing more people to YOU. thank you.
The tour guide was very well informed on Ghanaian history & really brought the city to life via the tour. The sites were beautiful and they made sure to take great quality photos which as a solo traveler I greatly appreciated. They also took great measures to ensure the tour was COVID-19 compliant which was greatly appreciated. Great quality for money and I would 100% recommend to friends and family who visit Accra!
Excellent tour. David was knowledgeable and friendly. It was nice to see the city sights and learn a bit of Ghanaian history.
What an amazing time spent while in Accra, Ghana. From the castle, to the different museums. Mr tourism is the best and not to talk about the surprise birthday party he took us too and experienced night life.
I had an amazing time during my tour of Accra with Nathan. He was early, courteous, respectful and super knowledgeable. He summarized years of history with detail from memory based on 23 years of experience. The tour was flexible, interactive and adaptable. We visited several historical sites, castles, government buildings, and a huge trading market. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone in Accra!!
Eugene was knowledgeable and David was the BEST driver! The tour was great, but they were simply AMAZING! Kobe is an asset to Osu Castle.
Strolling in Accra, having your breakfast with fresh coconuts and bananas, eating street food, having a rest on the ocean front, waiting for spending the night in a outdoor bar or club ... Accra why are you so far?
What an amazing experience we had on the Accra City Tour! I would recommend this tour to any person who is looking for an authentic, professional, and intellectually stimulating experience in Accra. It is a day excursion ending with a late lunch, but we were able to cover a lot of ground and tailor the stops to our liking. We booked the tour late on a Saturday night for the following Sunday morning and received almost instant confirmation of our booking from the owner. Kaya Tours allows for front door service, hotel pickup. They provided constant updates as to their arrival, which was satisfying to me as a customer because at booking you are only given a time frame (mild Type A personality). The tour started at Osu Dungeon. We then explored Independence Square, the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and Jamestown. We also made quick stops at places like the Jubilee House, a street art park in Jamestown (where local artists were face painting neighborhood kids and doing photoshoots), and the beach for a break on the rocks. After a long day of sightseeing, Gilbert took us to a nice Ghanaian restaurant where we enjoyed a fresh buffet of ALL of the Ghanaian favorites--jollof rice, red red, peanut soup, etc. The tour company is respected in the community. This was demonstrated by the interactions with historians and orators at the sights and also among Ghanaians more generally. I cannot thank Gilbert enough for welcoming us to Ghana! This tour really set the tone for my experience.
My son and I had a fantastic day with our guides Koby and David. The tour started with a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. At the park, we were given a detailed history and overview of the President Nkrumah and the significance of the park. Next we headed to Black Star Square and Gate. We were allowed to climb up the Gate and had a great view of the city. The last stop was Osu Castle. Koby provided a detailed history of the castle and it's significance to Ghana. At no point were we rushed. We took our time and all of our questions were answered. The tour was modified at our request, which made it even more enjoyable. This tour is a great way to discover Accra and provide ideas for further exploration.
Horrible tour operators. My tour was confirmed a week prior to and nobody confirmed my hotel pickup. When I tried to contact them with the number provided, it went straight to voicemail and eventually the line was disconnected. I took a taxi to the meet up site and nobody was there. Wildly unprofessional. Save your money and explore the city in your own.
I had the most informative and lovely trip with my tour guide, Ishmael. He’s great guy who maintained a happy disposition throughout, even after he spent ages searching for my apartment to pick me up. Glad to have made the right choice with Kaya tours and I will be going on more trips with them in the future :)
What a perfect way to spend a day in Accra. I had spent most of my time in Ghana in Tamale but had a day in Accra while I waited for my evening flight. I spent the day with Ishmael who is a knowledgeable local guide. I was impressed with everything I saw and even more so with the tour guides everywhere we went to. Thank you for picking me up and dropping me off at my hotel...a great bonus!
I was amazed at the confirmation of my tour order in such a short time. Loved the entire tour(the range of sites, climate and landscapes) were immensely rewarding. I was overwhelmed with the driver on his pick up time, very prompt. Mr. Ishmael; the driver and tour guide was outstanding; knowledgeable, friendly and had a great sense of humour. I had great fun; I will recommend Kaya Tours. Thank you.
The independence square is a place of national character. It triggers a lot of emotions and a very beautiful historic site. I also visited the Lighthouse,Kwame Nkrumah Museum and had great time to interact with the Market women at Makola. My tour guide Ishmael Amaah was very professional and informative . Indeed this tours was a great value for money and would recommend Kaya Tours to all.
We had a wonderful and interesting day in Accra. Ismael, our guide, gave us a nice picture of life in Accra, both now and in the past. We were sent pictures afterwards of us with all the sights and beautiful views. The lunch was delicious! Ismael also brought us to a local cultural market where we found some beautiful souvenirs. Very nice to walk between the stalls. This trip is a must for anyone who wants to visit Accra!
I booked the tour on Saturday evening at 9pm. And on Sunday it took place. Very spontaneously, although it was written on the internet 8.00 a.m it only took place at 10.00 instead of this but this was communicated to me before. It's all tiptop. The only person in my 31 days in ghana who was on time. The guide "David" was even there 15 minutes before. Everything done according to plan -> Castle> Independence Square> Mausoleum>jamestown. Market had too on Sunday however there were alternatives that David has offered. Good vehicle and nice guide. Also very flexible. My conclusion: +super friendly guide +Everything wiw described and on time +safe +Price (hotel driver wanted 3x more for same Service) Nothing to complain about.
