George and his team did a fantastic job with this tour. The mode of transport was comfortable, accommodating to the needs of the passengers, the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, explanations of sites visited were informative and given prior to arrival so we would know what to expect and the appropriate action, if any, action we needed to prepare for.

Reviews
Great experience. Every place mentioned in the tour was covered. It was an immersive experience. Great to see how Ghana is growing and how it's infrastructure is improving, since it has only been self governing for a short while.
This was a journey of a lifetime, which elicited a deep emotional response to the lectures and docent descriptions of the African slave trade. The special ceremony with the king was a wonderful and beautiful experience. The tour guide, Mr. Benson, made all the difference, as he ensured everything went according to plan. The entire trip was amazing. However, there was one caveat: we were given the opportunity to select fabric the first day of the trip for garments to be made for the farewell dinner and celebration. I would recommend that those arrangements be carefully vetted, as the finished products of the garments made for most of us on this trip were subpar and ill-fitting. This part of the trip could be eliminated, and it would take nothing away from the experience. All in all the trip was awesome, and I highly recommended every traveler take this journey at least once.
The Ghana trip was amazing! George (tour guide) did a phenomenal job. His history and knowledge of the Africian culture made the trip a memorable experience.
To be greeted with the words "welcome home" never felt so right. What a wonderful way to begin a journey to hear, see and experience first-hand the real truth about my ancestors. We hit the ground running with our wonderful guide George Benson from the first to the last day we moved with precision and purpose. George made sure we covered every aspect of the trips itinerary and then some. His vast knowledge of Ghana and different regions was magnificent. This was a bucket list trip for sure, rich in history, customs, culture and traditions that should be experienced by all. I highly recommend this trip and guide George Benson as your guide. JOB WELL DONE!!
Tour was much more than expected. The itinerary gave us such a wide experience of Ghana’s cultural and historical sites, as well as chance to have fun hiking rain forest and eating at nice selection of restaurants. Our tour guide, George Benson was the best and the reason trip was so great. He was so knowledgeable on history and culture, plus so helpful and personable. His stories on the cultures of the different regions and the country were so entertaining. We visited 4 villages that gave unique glimpse into different cultures, while seeing life in countryside during bus ride through. The welcome and naming ceremony was special. It was good timed after the emotional visits to slave region and the historical tracing of our ancestors’ cruel journey. They gave us so much more history than I knew. The days on this trip, the hotels and restaurants were all perfect. Everyone was very happy with George and the drivers. I would highly recommend this trip and George as guide. The visa process was a little challenging, with using embassy website a problem. Those that used new evisa paid a lot more, process was easier but they were stopped at entry for a review and approval step.
George Benson was our tour guide and he was exceptional! He was helpful, on time for each excursion and communicated well with each trip. He was very knowledgeable and showed great patience with each one of the participants. He coordinated each trip well and considered all anticipated expectations. I recommend George for each trip in the future.
The tour was a great experience and met all of my expectations. The tour guide, George Benson, was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and I enjoyed all the stories. He made sure everyone needs were met from the minute we landed until the minute we departed. The group we travelled with were friendly. The food was delicious.
My trip lasted 10 days, as I arrived ahead of my group. The experience was educational, emotional, and adventurous. Our tour guide, George Benson, was exceptionally knowledgeable. His historical accounts were enriched by personal insights and local experiences, which made the tour both engaging and fascinating. What truly stood out was George’s genuine dedication to going above and beyond to accommodate everyone in the group. His commitment to ensuring a memorable experience is the reason I would not hesitate to use your services again and would confidently recommend your company to friends. George truly made the experience unforgettable! Wanda H. (Abena)
Adventurous and informative. Elvis has a great personality and is very protective of us. The driver is an excellent driver. I would recommend this group tour guide anytime—great job.
An unforgettable journey, reconnecting with my roots and deepening my passion for learning. Mr. George Benson was our guide who did an excellent job in showing us the rich history and culture in Ghana
My first time visiting Ghana . From the start Joy and Sherry made the process so smooth , professionalism was evident dealing with all 9 of us. Arrival in Ghana our tour guide Elvis and driver Jacob who stayed with us throughout the trip were the best . Elvis knowledge about Ghana’s history is amazing and his patience was incredible. Jacob skills in getting us where we needed to be is also commendable. This was an unforgettable experience that everyone should take. Thanks to Continent Tours for allowing us to experience Ghana in such a memorable way . The price was definitely worth it .
The trip was wonderful. Our tour guide Kwaku and driver Nelson went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing time. Kwaku was very knowledgeable about the history of Ghana and Nelson drove us to places that we needed to go in addition to what was on the itinerary. To have the same tour guide and driver throughout made the visit even more special. I would recommend both Kwaku and Nelson from Continent Tours.
This experience was smooth from the start. The travel agent, Brandie P., guided me in selecting the best tour and helped with the necessary documents. The guide Emmanuel G., exceeded my expectations; my request was promptly fulfilled. He was insightful, patient, and professional. This trip was fantastic. Lisa W.
This trip was such an amazing experience. The locations we visited were very memorable. Our tour guide Emmanuel was knowledgeable, patient and accommodating. Everything was just right. Would recommend this tour.
Emmanuel was the most accomplished tour guide I have ever experienced! He was always attentive, professional, and emotionally aware of our needs. He made the experience life changing
George Benson MADE THE TRIP! He was absolutely amazing and truly went above and beyond for my travel group. From start to finish, he was professional, attentive, patient, and always one step ahead of our needs. He didn’t just do his job he added real value to our entire experience. George made sure everyone felt taken care of, handled details effortlessly, and remained positive and solutions-focused no matter what came up. That level of service matters, and it did not go unnoticed. He is without a doubt a true asset to the company, and I will 100% be working with George again in the future. No hesitation, no doubt.
This was my first trip on another continent. This trip to Ghana was a life changing experience. I will never forget. The Continental Tours staff was outstanding in their knowledge and passion for the history and legacy of all of Africa. George and Emmanuel were professional, patient and made the bus rides fun and memorable. I met a lot of new people from all over and I am still in contact with them. I would recommend this trip to anyone who is looking to experience and learn new things.
This trip to Ghana was an amazing experience. Our Tour Guide, George Benson was not only knowledgeable about his country's history and traditions, but he was able to manage (along with his assist Emmanuel) a large group of spirited tourists! The country's rich history and traditions are truly inspirational. And all the tours and locations visited were always educational and eye opening. A most unique experience thanks to Continent Tours. Highly recommend!
This was one of the best trips I have gone on. George Benson was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to the group’s needs. I highly recommend Continental Tours for any future trips to Ghana.
This was my first trip to Africa and it will not be my last. Traveling to Ghana, learning it's history, hearing and seeing our legacy and experiencing Ghana's culture and people and the good and the bad of life in Ghana is an extraordinary gift that I will carry with me. Our guide, George Benson, and the Continent Tours team made this the experience of a lifetime!
Helen N. Awesome Trip October 2025 Friends Ghana trip was an amazing trip. My life will never be the same! Learned a lot about my African heritage and what they endured during the slave period. The African Name Ceremony was amazing. We had the best team, Continental Tour, thank you for giving us the BEST! .George Benson, Emanuel and Augusta. George the bus driver drove that bus! He receive the BEST driving award!!
1st time in Ghana and what an amazing experience. History and the emotion of seeing, hearing and understanding, what our ancestors went through was unforgettable. The naming ceremony was an impactful, joyful experience. The canopy walk is a must do. Lastly the Continental Tours staff, George Benson, George (our driver, Emannuel and Augusta, were an amazing team.
This was absolutely the BEST Tour that me and my family have taken. It was extremely spiritual and filled with so much knowledge. It taught me a lot about my African heritage and what we endured during the slave trade period. Also, the "African Naming Ceremony" was simply AWESOME. The knowledge, professionalism and friendly engagement of the entire tour guide staff (George/ Emmanuel/Bus Driver and Staff) made this trip very well worth it! It is always good to "Come Home!" I wish that I could have made this trip sooner.
This was a trip of a life time and it exceeded my expectations. Our tour guide, George Benson, was the best. He was very knowledgeable, patient and interacted with the group. Very emotional hearing about the slave dungeons and the history that we were not taught in school. Naming ceremony and meeting a king was a highlight for me. I can't wait to go back next year. If you have not taken this trip, I recommend that you do. You will not regret it!
An unforgettable experience. A few planning missteps, but it did not diminish the trip. Our guide, George was amazing.
Ghana Tour with Continent Tours – Amazing Sites, But Needs Smoother Logistics I had an incredible cultural experience in Ghana with Continent Tours—rich history, emotional visits to the castles and dungeons, and a beautiful naming ceremony that I’ll never forget. Hotels were mostly excellent: Mövenpick in Accra was true 5-star luxury, and Oak Plaza Suites in Kumasi had great staff despite renovations. Unfortunately, our last stay at Ridge Royal Hotel in Cape Coast was a big drop from the planned Lemon Beach Resort, going from luxury to a basic 2-star property. Biggest drawback? Transportation. The 6-hour drive from Accra to Kumasi on rough roads should be replaced with a short flight. Our small bus was cramped for long journeys (we had multiple 4–6 hour drives) and uncomfortable with luggage. A larger, more comfortable bus is a must. Our guide George was knowledgeable and caring, but communication from the company about changes and expectations could be better. Overall: Fantastic tours, mostly great hotels, but transportation and communication need improvement.
I am excited to share my experience in Ghana with Continent Tours! The trip was life changing! I learned so much about our history, important figures like W.E.B. Du-Bois, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and our African history in Ghana. I was so moved by the dungeons, river of last bath, etc. The guides were so informative and drove home the history of the slave trade in Africa. But to hear the history of my ancestors - Kings and Queens and Leaders really inspired me and helped me to see what a strong history we had before slavery! George Benson, our tour guide, was very good in explaining much of the information we learned. This was very helpful in reinforcing what we learned. The highlight of the trip for me was receiving my African name and meeting the local King! I will never forget this trip!
The was a tremendous learning experience. Our tour guide George Benson was extremely informative and accommodating. He provided clear and concise answers. He also demonstrated patience daily and remained flexible. The historic sites of exploration were orated with exceptional passion. Each guide disseminated the information passionately. I was happy that we were able to see all of the scheduled sites in addition to a few extra at our request. George conducted himself as a consummate professional. There were a few items that require corrective actions. I personally head to wait until 6:25 to get into my room and we had a 6:45 scheduled meeting time for dinner. I had no internet in my room. My shower water was cold. My telephone in the room was not operational. The bus accommodation could have been better. The communication regarding the 6 hour bus ride over the horrific terrain should be disseminated prior to arrival. The option to fly should be made available to the guest. Some of my travelers would not have been able to complete that journey. I would not be able to sell this portion without prior knowledge. All travel transparency is vital. Lunch locations must be made available daily. Travelers have dietary needs that could become problematic if not addressed. Use the hotel being visited as a dining option. This is without a doubt a recommended your tour. I would certainly request the services of George to perform as my guide again.
Our tour guide was on time from the onset of the trip. I loved that he was flexible with our schedule. Always making suggestions as to what would be of interest to the family. The restaurants that our guide (Elvis/Kweku) suggested were great. Great atmosphere and good choices of food. However, regarding choices in hotels which is no reflection on the guide, I was less impressed with the hotels. We stayed at 3 separate hotels and the only one that I would recommend is Fiesta Royale which was a choice the family suggested instead of the choice we received from the tour. The hotel in Kumasi City (Lancaster Hotel) smelled moldy. The hotel in Cape Coast City (Coconut Grove) was not as bad but the food selection at the hotel was non-existent. The WiFi connection was non-existent which is important for people traveling outside the country as that is our means of connecting to people back home.
Our experience with Continent tours was amazing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The driver was attentive at all times and we felt safe the entire time with no concerns. The ooverall experience was good. My only complaint is for the hotel we stayed at in Kumasi ( Lancaster Hotel) …it smelled like mold in the hallways, fixtures in the bathroom fell off so we had to use the other rooms shower, needs update, and all 4 rooms, bed was feeling damp and food was horrible with limited selection. The Coconut Grove accommodations was only great because of the beach front room. Otherwise, bed felt like you were sleeping on concrete, and WIfi did not work in all rooms and was weak in the 1 room it was available in. Food was also not good in taste and extremely limited selections for breakfast and dinner. Every day we only ended up getting omelets, because that’s basically all they had. The best hotel was the Accra hotel Fiesta Royale …the hotel was amazing but also was the only hotel we chose ourselves, other 2 was suggested by the tour group. Overall a great experience and we would use this tour group again.
The Tour Guide Mr. George Benson was outstanding in every capacity. He is very knowledgeable about the history, social, cultural aspects about the people, cities, villages we visited. He also has a friendly and engaging personality. George made our stay in Ghana informative and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about their African heritage. George Benson and his team did an excellent job. George has a vast knowledge of his country and shared freely with the group. He answered all questions without hesitation and always made sure we understood. He was patient, understood the group’s need and met them all. Life in each village we entered was throughly explained. The days were packed with activities but I loved the way each day ended with a little night life as we experienced different restaurants with live entertainment. Our driver, Kwame Boakye and his assistant Paul showed expertise as they maneuvered our large bus through the narrow streets. Emanuel was a wonderful addition to George’s team leading and guiding making sure we stayed together as a group, helping the ladies on and off the bus. Our tours were flawless and we left each location with more knowledge than we had imagined. I loved the way the itinerary was laid out. We experienced village life before the traumatic tours and ended with reclaimed names and a night of celebration. This was my second time in Ghana but George and his team made it feel like it was the first time. Continental Tours did an amazing job from the planning stage. They met every demand. I will hold each memory close to my heart. I am looking forward to bringing another group to Ghana 🇬🇭 so we can learn what true village life looks like.
This was an incredible journey . The information was vast and the knowledge I gained made me feel and understand the people.
Our group had the absolute pleasure of being led by Emmanuel on our eight-day journey through Ghana, and we could not have asked for a better guide. From Accra to Kumasi, Assin Manso, Cape Coast, Takoradi, and back to Accra, Emmanuel was the heartbeat of our experience—proactive, knowledgeable, and incredibly organized. His deep understanding of Ghana’s history, culture, and food systems brought every site to life, making our visits to places like Makola Market, the W.E.B. Du Bois Center, Cape Coast Castle, and the Ashanti cultural sites in Kumasi truly unforgettable. He anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, ensured smooth logistics at every turn, and handled every detail with professionalism and warmth. Beyond his expertise, Emmanuel’s passion for his country and his ability to connect with each member of our group made our trip all the more meaningful. He was more than a guide—he was a teacher, a storyteller, and a steady presence throughout our journey. We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and commitment to making this experience seamless and impactful. Emmanuel, thank you for your dedication, your patience, and for sharing Ghana with us in such a powerful way!
I’d give this a 3.5-star rating, but the outstanding service from our tour guide warrants a solid 4 stars. The food options were limited, with only three out of six restaurants being decent. Ordering individually improved the experience, while buffets were inconsistent—often lacking heat or quantity. Two of the three hotels were good, with Oak Hill Suites standing out for its excellent service and surprisingly tasty dinner despite not having a restaurant. In contrast, Ridge Royal Hotel was less accommodating, with inconsistent food and strict policies like not allowing guests to take towels. The highlight of the trip was the tour guide and driver, Jacob and Elvis. Elvis was exceptionally patient, knowledgeable about Akan/Asante culture, and ensured our safety while advocating for us in the markets. Given the extensive time spent driving, a 9- or 10-day itinerary with a leisure day would improve the experience, especially since the last day was mostly spent traveling back from Kumasi.
This trip exceeded all my expectations. I traveled with a group of 14 and between George and our driver we always felt secure and well-taken care of. I appreciated most the care with which George ensured that our group was prepared to understand the local customs and traditions as well as the historical richness of Ghana and West Africa. George was patient, flexible, understanding, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. He fit into our group well. I would definitely book with George again!!
We had an absolutely amazing experience with George as our travel guide in Ghana! From start to finish, he went above and beyond to make sure our group was comfortable, entertained, and well taken care of. George is incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about Accra, Cape Coast, and the country’s rich history and culture. His sense of humor and engaging personality kept us smiling throughout the trip, and he was always accommodating to our needs and preferences. Thanks to George, we were able to fully enjoy everything Accra and Cape Coast had to offer, from breathtaking sights to unforgettable moments. This trip exceeded our expectations, and we’re already planning to return to explore more of Ghana and Africa. Without a doubt, we’ll book with George again. Highly recommend his services
Accra and the Cape Coast are magnificent. We attended Afro Future, brought in the New Year beachside with superb food, drinks and a spectacular view! We did an amazing city tour that covered the WEB DuBois Center and Dr Kwame Nkrumah museum/park. We also took a trip down to Cape Coast to visit a slave dungeon, slave river and experience a naming ceremony. George Benson was the perfect guide to lead us in exploring Ghana. He is patient, extremely knowledgeable and he is an excellent storyteller. His recommendations are SPOT ON. I will be recommending him to all my family and friends who make the trip.
Kudos to Continent Tours for an exceptional experience. This customized tour allowed our multi-generational, multi-interest group to experience a gamut of Ghana’s treasures, from beaches to countryside life, natural wonders, traditions, history, crafts, culture, and cuisine. Shopping for Ghanaian goods was total joy! Pack an empty bag; you'll want to bring home more than you think you do right now. All of our hotels were top-notch, with restaurants serving local and international food. Every buffet also had fresh veggies and salads. We had a private tour bus. Our driver Anim was a masterful navigator of the roads, and our congenial tour guide Elvis was a wealth of knowledge on customs, tribes, and current events. In Ghana we imbibed our origin story, the prequel.
My cousin curated this trip with Continent Tours. This was my first trip touring with Continent Tours. We had Elvis as our tour guide. On the trip, we had our bus driver and bus assistant. It was a great learning experience to learn about the area and culture. Coming to Ghana, it’s nice to have a guide to show you where everything is and it takes the guess work out of trying to figure everything out on your own. All our hotels were comfortable and clean. It was nice to have transfers included in our trip. Pick up and drop off at the airport was seamless. Elvis and his team were nice to be around for the week. They were very patient with the 17 people that were in our group. We had a range of people from the age of early 20’s to 80’s. They looked after us while on the trip. We didn’t have to worry about our safety while traveling. I would recommend Continent Tours to family and friends.
Continent Tours is top notch!!! From our Tour Guide Elvis, our bus driver, our spotter and our air conditioned bus. Elvis is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of the questions we has about Ghana. Speaking from a Travel Agent perspective, “I will definitely use them again to help me plan future trips to Africa. They didn’t miss a single detail”
Naa was an amazing guide. We can’t rave enough about her knowledge of Ghana, its rich history and culture. We will definitely visit again!
Our trip was amazing! Our tour guide, Elvis was excellent! The depth of information shared at each stop was much appreciated. What a memorable experience!
"Continent Tours provided an unforgettable journey throughout Ghana, reconnecting me deeply with my roots as a Black diasporan. Our guide, Josh, was exceptional—knowledgeable and passionate about Ghana's history and culture. From vibrant markets to delicious local cuisine and enriching historical sites, Josh ensured we experienced the best of Ghana's vast cultural offerings. I can't wait to return and explore more with Continent Tours!"
Nias Travel coordinated people from various states into a tour group of 17. Nicole Gaskin-Laniyan did a fantastic job, along with Isaac, our phenomenal tour guide! Besides having my father's & brother's names, which warmed my heart, his high level of professional knowledge of his country made this vacay an actual pilgrimage to the Motherland. Hans, our adept bus driver, safely navigated us through the urban streets & country roads. Elvis provided a unique level of protection from the swarms of vendors as well as shopping safeguards. The information imparted to us was priceless, as was the countless new experiences. My new African name and Kente stole with the "Change Forever" Adinkra symbols are indeed true...
I recently returned from Ghana and what an amazing welcome home experience given by Continent Tours! George was our tour guide, he was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. I learned so much from George and Doris…about Ghana, our history, and the different cultures in different regions.. Asante was our very safe driver, I appreciate his focus in keeping us safe. I am returning to Ghana soon and I will be partnering with Continent Tours again as my tour operator. Thanks so much for a great experience!
I’ve returned home from an unforgettable journey through Ghana. This trip has been an extraordinary adventure, deeply touching and profoundly inspiring. From the rich history of the Ashanti people in Kumasi to the vibrant streets of Accra, every moment was a treasure. This would not have been made possible without the expertise from the best guides on this side of creation, George and Doris. Continent Tours far exceeded my expectations and I am looking forward to my next venture with them.
Thank you George, Doris and #1 driver Assante for your guidance through your country. I truly enjoyed learning more of our history.
I just returned from an absolutely amazing experience to Ghana with Continent Tours. From the time they picked us up from the airport to dropping us back off at the airport, we felt safe and every detail was carefully planned and executed. George was our guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and just a great person. I cannot say enough about the extreme care taken when dealing with our group.
