I was really looking forward to this tour, especially because I'm a big fan of waterfalls. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing. A day before the tour, the company sent me a WhatsApp message stating that I had to be at the reception 15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time and that if I was more than 15 minutes late, the driver would leave without me. I remember thinking, "Wow, these people are really serious about being on time!" Well, the day of the tour arrived, and guess what? **The driver showed up ONE HOUR late!** Quite ridiculous, considering their strict warning about punctuality. Anyway, the tour finally started, and everything seemed fine at first. We visited **Aburi Botanical Gardens** and **Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm**, then stopped for lunch. Unfortunately, lunch took hours to be served. I didn't even eat anything, but I completely understand that other travellers needed a lunch break. Still, the amount of time wasted was frustrating, especially considering how late we had already started. After lunch, we visited **Asenema Waterfalls**, which I really enjoyed. As someone who loves waterfalls, this was definitely one of the highlights of the day. We then continued to **Umbrella Rock** and the **Three-Headed Palm Tree**. However, things took a disappointing turn when we got back into the car and the driver started heading towards Accra. I noticed road signs pointing towards other waterfalls, so I asked him, "Aren't we going to **Boti Falls** and **Akaa Waterfalls**?" His response was simply, "Sorry, we don't have time." **Seriously?** The driver arrived an hour late, we spent hours waiting for lunch, and now we were skipping attractions that I had been looking forward to visiting? I questioned this, but I never really received a proper explanation. What disappointed me the most was that **the waterfalls were the main reason I booked this tour in the first place!** Missing two of them completely defeated the purpose of the experience. I'm not someone who usually complains or leaves negative reviews. In fact, out of the 10 tours I've booked through Viator, this is the first time I've felt the need to write a bad review. I genuinely wish I had rented a car and visited these places myself. At least I would have been able to manage my own time and see the attractions I was excited about. **Overall, a disappointing experience due to poor time management, a late pickup, and missed attractions.**

Poorly maintained. There are some worthwhile trees and interesting historical significance; but (similar to much of the tourist infrastructure in Ghana) this site is poorly cared for. Signs are deteriorating (if present at all) and there is little curation posted in written form.
This tour was so much fun with our tour guide Portia and driver Sen. We saw so many things , to start off our day we went to the first Cocoa farm in Accra, then we went to see umbrella rock so magnificent, we saw the 3 headed palm tree, then we went to Asenema Falls , words cannot describe how magical it is , lastly we went to Aburi gardens. I didn’t know what to expect but I was amazed on the history of the park and the significance of culture .
We had a great experience. The driver and guide Emmanuel was very friendly, knowledgable and very attentative to our needs. Thanks to him we learned a lot and enjoyed our trip. Would highly recommend everyone to take this tour!
Everything is nice. Friendly tour guide and good service. Just mind timing it may take longer than anticipated but still managable if you prefer to return earlier also
We really enjoyed our tour. The cocoa farmwas a great experience as we learned the history. The waterfall was beath taking. Would highly recommend. The tour guide was great.
We had a fantastic day! Our guide Emmanuel gave us lots of information on Ghana and its people. We saw the city from the mountains, toured the botanical gardens, visited a cocoa farm, saw a very nice waterfall, had a delicious lunch, saw 3 headed palm and beautiful umbrella rock. Also got stuck in traffic on market day which was a wonderful bonus. I would definitely use this company again!
Patrick was very informative friendly and helpful throughout the entire trip.
Emmanuel was very friendly and such a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable the entire duration of the tour. I would definitely recommend!
We visited many places on the tour, driving out of Accra was a stimulating experience in and of itself! All admission and guide fees were included. Our guide was friendly, and was keen to talk about the different cultural components of Ghana when we asked him. He was very flexible with the plans. Due to traffic, sometimes the commute was longer than expected, which I don’t mind as it was very interesting to chat and experience. However you may not want to make too many plans in the evening, just in case!
I would highly recommend this tour company in general for any tour. This was my first time in Africa and I did not know what to expect but our guide became family. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and gave us space to experience at our own pace. This particular tour was based in nature. We interacted with the locals, visited wonders of nature, and visited the Eastern region of Ghana. We also had amazing food at a local hotel. The distance from Accra was about two hours so this is perfect if you want a closer tour. To Mr. T, Medaase.
It was really great! The tour guide Mr. T was great! He was really helpful to me personally. The tour itself was wonderful I loved the coca farm the best! And the restaurant we stopped at for lunch was the best meal I’ve had since I’ve been in Ghana! I recommend this tour!
Really lovely day out. Good things to see and experience.
This is definitely worth booking. Our tour guide, Kwame and our driver, Elvis were an amazing duo. We were warmly greeted and provided water on pick up. As we were en route, they pointed out significant sights and presented historical references. They even went above and beyond by offering to take group photos. The restaurant that we stopped at for lunch provided delicious meal and beverage choices. I liked that we placed our order at the restaurant early so that our food was served hot and promptly. I would definitely take this tour again.
It has been an amazing day, most of all the waterfalls were great.
We had a lovely day with Emmanuel K, he was very helpful and accommodating, and had lots of knowledge that he was keen to share with us all. The other people in our group were lovely too. The day was well planned and waterfalls, cocoa farm and Arburi Gardens were all excellent, our guide on the Arburi Gardens (Richard) was excellent, very knowledgeable and passionate about all the plants and the history of the gardens. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to see a bit more of Ghana outside of Accra, beautiful countryside.
The tour really worth it! Special mention to Patrick who was our tour guide I would do it 10 Times again
We had a good time touring Aburi gardens, the cocoa farm and Boti falls
It was absolutely awesome, what an amazing day! It was well organized, everything went smoothly and I could really focus on all the incredibly beautiful stops we went to. Thanks to Emmanuel for being such a great Guide!
The tour guide was amazing. The trip was amazing. The tour guide was patient, kind, and allowed us to take our time to explore and embrace the many beauties of Ghana.
I enjoyed the variety of locations we visited, our guides weee very knowledgeable of all the locations. The Umbrella Rock was a little challenging to get to but our guides were there to assist and make sure we were able to enjoy the attraction.
Experience was amazing, and partly due to our guide Daniel (who we requested for our next experience the next day), who was super professional and committed to ensuring we got the full experience despite traffic, rain etc. The waterfall was amazing- Bring good shoes.
The tour guides were outstanding. Arrived on time, drove through the crazy Accra traffic expertly, provided local scenery commentary and organized the various stops including a great lunch with finesse and precision. The sights were fun and it was nice to get out of the city and into the countryside.
It was an amazing tour with a knowledgeable tour guide. The highlight I really enjoyed the most was visiting the cacao farm, where we saw the real cacao fruits and even taste the fresh cacao beans.
I enjoyed the experience. The tour guide, Emmanuel, was very polite and accommodating. The tour was very nature-focused. It is a good one to book if that interests you.
**Excellent last-minute trip — highly recommended!** I originally booked a different tour to the Shia Reserve, which had to be cancelled at short notice due to a family emergency with the guide. The team handled this really well, communicating professionally throughout and quickly offering me this alternative, which turned out to be a fantastic experience. Our guide Patrick was outstanding — professional, knowledgeable, and a very safe driver. He kept the information flowing throughout the day without it ever feeling like a lecture. The vehicle was comfortable with air conditioning, WiFi, and free water, which made the long drive very pleasant. The highlight for me was Umbrella Rock — well worth the walk to get there. But honestly, the drive itself is part of the experience; passing through small rural villages gives you a genuine glimpse into everyday Ghanaian life that you simply won’t get staying in Accra. The whole experience was professionally run from start to finish, with great communication at every stage. I’d have no hesitation booking with this company again and would encourage anyone visiting Ghana to consider this tour.
Very nice and comfortable tour with lots of interesting information.
I would not have been able to get to such beautiful places without the lovely tour guide. My fav part was the cacao farm I was looking forward to seeing for a long time!
My tour guide Porsha and driver Seth where very friendly. I had a blast with them. They took good care of me, I felt safe. I highly recommend this tour. Just go with an open mind and remember that you are visiting someone country, so visitors please be respectful and kind. This overall was an amazing and unforgettable experience/vacation.
- We were picked up at our apartment at around 9 am and everything was fine. The communication regarding the pick up time worked well through WhatsApp. We were in total 3 people and met at lunch with another group of 3 other tourists. - The driver (Emanuel) knew his way around and was super kind - Our highlight was the coca farm and the history behind it - the tour guide was really helpful and knew answers to all our questions - In short, we can fully recommend the day tour. The lunch was very delicious as well (The lunch needs to be paid in cash so take some cedis with you!)
We had two adults and two children (11 and 16). Overall we were very pleased with the tour and guide. The Boti Falls snd Cocoa Farm visits were very good. Unfortunately we found out that the day we took the tour was a national holiday and the Aburi stop, where we were supposed to have lunch, was full of revelers for a concert event and we had to eat at an a very expensive resort. My recommendation is that the tour operator needs to check in advance for such events and plan accordingly.
Micheal, our guide, was very friendly and kept the energy of the group light and energetic. Thank you Michael for your time with us.
The tours were extremely exciting and fun filled with so much great history of Ghana. Will definitely be back.
Our guide, Michael was very good as were the other guides. The only problem was the venue for lunch. Despite ringing ahead with the order, after waiting for half an hour they came out to tell us that most of the food was off the menu. Lunch took over 2 hours as each meal came out separately. This meant that we finished our tour of the botanic gardens in complete darkness which was a real shame. That said our guide was very knowledgeable and amusing and did his best in the dark.
Paid to go on a tour in Aburi. The night before I was called at 10pm. They said the tour guide had an emergency so they were looking for another guide. It got to 11pm and I had to contact them. They said unfortunately they could not find a replacement. I therefore asked for a refund but they wanted to book me in for another date. However I could not commit to a date so asked instead for the refund. After this their communication was close to non existent. They told me they would get back to me and they didn’t. Very disappointed. First time booking with this company. Originally spoke to Emmanuella and then Peter Mensah. After this they stopped any communication via both whats app, online and email. Their records will show this happened and they have failed in their customer service.
Had such a nice trip to Boti Falls everything was well organised and the whole day felt easy and relaxed. The drive from Accra was comfortable, and we had enough time to enjoy the place properly. The waterfall itself was beautiful and very refreshing, definitely worth the visit. The atmosphere was calm, not too crowded, which made it even more enjoyable. Our guide Daniel Kusi was great very friendly, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout. I booked all my tours with them and everything has been consistently good. Best for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-organised day trip from Accra.
I really enjoyed this tour. Very informative.
Nature adventure! This was an awesome experience in nature. Thompson was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable of the tour. He also enlightened us on myths from Ghana that was not true. His background in teaching really stood out on how he described some of the sites we visited.
Let me start with the Cons, of which there is only one. I booked this trip last minute on a Friday to go on the Saturday as the previous trip I booked with another operator was unexpectedly cancelled. The website clearly stated I could still book the trip up to about 12 hours before the start date and time. After receiving confirmation, a few hours later and late in the evening I got a call saying that the trip was canceled for that day (no reason given) and that I could choose another day. So, long story short I ended up going on the Sunday and it was a fantastic day. We were a small group of 3 solo travellers and our tour guide Emmanuel was absolutely amazing! He is so intelligent, knowledgeable and articulate, he made it so much fun! It was a long day but I wouldn’t say it was too much walking, and the mini bus was comfortable and air conditioned. Emmanuel gave us lots of opportunities to take pictures, and was able to answer every single question we had regarding history, geography and culture! We started the day visiting the Umbrella Rock and Boti Falls - both were incredible! We stopped for lunch and continued on with the rest of the tour before returning back to our respective accommodations. All in all I would say it is definitely worth the trip and I 100% recommend. Special credit to Mercy at Tetteh Quarshie cocoa farm who was also so full of knowledge and enthusiasm regarding the process of growing and processing Cocoa. I also want to mention our guide at Aburi gardens, whose name I can’t remember for the life of me! He was so passionate, knowledgeable and just made the tour so interesting and fun. Oh, and if you're thinking of booking, bring comfy shoes, and a water bottle - you'll want to stay hydrated! If you are wondering whether or not to book the tour, I suggest you go ahead! 😊
Thompson was a wonderful guide. He is so knowledgeable about the area and the people. We stopped at a very quaint restaurant for lunch that had delicious food and great customer service. This was my second tour with your company and with Thompson and each tour was amazing. My entire family is returning to Ghana next year and we will use your company and request Thompson. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Such a beautiful time! It was wonderful and the weather was beautiful. I would do this tour again
Having a in depth discussion and history tour of the different attractions we went to. Everyone was lovely and informative. The guide was brilliant he engaged with everyone from young to old.
We were originally planning the trip for the day before to celebrate a special day for us. Mr. Peter called and explained the vehicle being used needed brake maintenance. For everyone's safety we were able to reschedule and Mr. Peter made sure everything was right. We were picked up within the time frame given, in a clean minivan that was perfect for us and the others in our group. Thomas, our tour guide was very professional, nice, and helpful the entire day. Some of the roads were very bumpy so I am grateful they took safety into consideration and rescheduled. The day ws full and so are our hearts. We recommend this tour.
Such a beautiful experience! The cocoa farm was great with its rich history, the falls were so beautiful, the garden was sooo beautiful! Make sure you take a lot of photos!
The activity was pretty cool. Our guide was very polite and catered to the needs of everyone in the tour. He made the tour smarter. We did the things that made most sense earlier. We start with the botanical gardens and then we went to the the umbrella Rock. After that the boti falls and finishing the cocoa farm I really had a great experience and would definitely recommend this tour. The only thing is that you have to beware that they hike is not easy. It's pretty hot, pretty steep and going down and going up. Up. I'm an athletic 32-year-old male and I didn't have major problems, but I could see someone in the older side who does not do any kind of exercise would have problems. However, there is a way way to drive up to the umbrella, Rock and the palm tree. Our guide offered us if we would want to be picked up once we finish the hike and it was a smart decision. I did enjoy the hike but no need to do the same trip back. If they could pick me up and we could go on with a day. It was still a pretty good workout. This hike took almost an hour. I definitely recommend this tour and this company
Do not use this tour company. They were horrible on another tour out group did and held us hostage while they drove around the airport picking up one of their girlfriends
I wish I had encountered this company prior to setting up reservations with another company at the start of my visit. After a very disturbing interaction with another company, I was hesitant to do any further excursions. However, this company operates as an amazing business, with great customer service, and enthusiastic tour guides. Today I had the opportunity to attend an excursion that included Boti Falls, Aburi Gardens, Umbrella Rock, and the first cocoa farm in Ghana. Peter was the tour guide, and he was extremely enthusiastic, very informative, very intuitive and ensured that the conversation was always flowing. He had an amazing personality and was extremely accommodating for whatever we needed. After everyone was picked up, we got on the road just before 9 AM and got back on the road to get back to Accra just after 6 PM. It’s a great one day trip, but please be prepared to pace yourself and know your endurance and fitness level for the hike to Umbrella, Rock and the staircase leading to Boti Falls - Going down is not the issue it’s coming up that can be very tiring after such a serene and relaxing moment. The Cocoa Farm was a nice short visit with samples of the cocoa fruit and the cocoa pod. Aburi Gardens was at the end as that location is closer to Accra and that is where we had a late lunch/early dinner. Aburi Gardens is picturesque and definitely worth the visit. It’s a great way to end the day as walking around the park is completely flat compared to other parts of the excursion. The tour was smooth, the pick up and drop off was timely, and the price is right! I look forward to my next visit to Ghana and will definitely use Expedition Tours again, as well as recommend them to anyone who is coming to Ghana.
It was nice just did not know of all the climbing got it got ruff with the climbing but otherwise it was adventurous thank to tour guide was great
It was good to get outside of Accra and see the natural beauty of Ghana. Seeing the beautiful mountain side that was lush and green and meandering through the quaint towns along the way you get more of a comprehensive experience of the country. Having a chance for a more intimate explanation of regional and national customs and culture was a major plus. The lunch stop had fantastic food. The falls were gorgeous. The geological formations phenomenal. The botanical gardens and more important the guides there were the icing on the cake. Understanding the relevance of the plants to the culture and history of Ghana was the highlight of the tour. I would absolutely do this tour again. The only drawback (one that the company can’t control) was the time it took to travel the distance due to road construction traffic (which will improve when the work is done).
We took this 7-hour day trip from Accra, and it was a fantastic mix of nature, adventure, and culture. The tour included Boti Falls, Umbrella Rock, Aburi Botanical Gardens, and a cocoa farm visit, all with smooth logistics and a friendly guide. Highlights: Boti Falls: The waterfall was breathtaking. The hike to the falls was manageable and well-paced, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery. The mist from the falls was refreshing, and the kids were mesmerized. Umbrella Rock: This unique rock formation was fun to explore. It was a great spot for photos and for the kids to enjoy a bit of light climbing. Aburi Botanical Gardens: A peaceful and beautiful space with massive trees, flowers, and shaded walking paths. It was perfect for a calm break in the day and offered a glimpse into Ghana’s rich plant biodiversity. Cocoa Farm: Very educational! We got to see cocoa pods, learn about the harvesting process, and understand how chocolate is made. The kids loved seeing the colorful pods and tasting fresh cocoa. Tour Logistics: Approximately 7-8 hours, including driving from Accra. The travel time was comfortable, with a clean vehicle and courteous driver. Our guide (George) was knowledgeable, engaging, and attentive to our family’s pace, which made the day enjoyable for both adults and children. Tips for Families: Wear comfortable shoes for walking and light hiking. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and insect repellent. A light rain jacket or poncho is helpful near Boti Falls, as the spray can be strong. Great for kids who enjoy nature, exploration, and hands-on learning. Overall: This tour is highly recommended for anyone looking to combine Ghanaian natural beauty, adventure, and cultural learning in a single day. It’s well-organized, scenic, and family-friendly, with experiences that appeal to all ages. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
