The City Tour is a must I think because you will get to learn about Ghanas independence. Who was involved, the people , the culture, the Kings , the Meals etc . Pretty much learning that we are all one people .

I booked this tour for my brother-in-law who was in Accra for a few days; unfortunately, the morning of the tour, as he was on his way to the pick-up spot, I received a notification that pick up would be delayed until 11:20 am instead of 9 am. Then about an hour later, I received a call and was informed that the tour would be cancelled because the issue with the car had not been resolved.
The trip was meaningful, informative, interesting, enjoyable and value for money. Our hosts (Ben, Patrick, Rashid et al) at every point of destination were knowledgeable about the subject matter. They were friendly, approachable and no questions were too much to answer. We were picked up on time from our hotel as agreed. You are supplied with a bottle of water (not cold) recommendation that a cooler is carried.
The tour company was 2 hours late for pickup. I had to reach out multiple times to get updates. The tour guide did not give facts or talk about history while we were in the car. She was just along for the ride. The tour guides at the different locations were more helpful. Also, they skipped Makola Market. I am assuming this was because they were 2 hours late. When I asked the tour guide about it, she walked away. She also rushed us through every location. We did not have enough time to look around and take photos.
Great value for money. Definitely a day trip to remember. Our guide Mr T was friendly patient and so accommodating. Overall experience was one for the memory books! You get to learn Accra history and culture.
Excellent, well arranged tour covering Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Makola Market, Independence Square, W.E.B. DuBois Center We did not go to the Jamestown Lighthouse. Perhaps the tour should be lengthened by another hour. It starts at 9am but comically, no one was available to guide us at the W.E.B. DuBois Center, since we arrived early. Luckily the center's your guide arrived withing 20 minutes while we watch a video. Ghana has lots of history, and the fight for independence and all the stories around it were highlights. Love the visit to the Makola Market. However need to give some time for folks to purchase items at the market. We were instead told to shop at the Center for National Culture which was more for tourist at exorbitant prices. I suspect the your operator had a family member there they wanted us to patronage. The clothes and items at W.E.B. DuBois Center and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park were more affordable.
I was meant to partake on this tour on the 17th of September with my mother but it did not go as planned. We were picked up with a slight delay because of traffic which we completely understood, but on our way to the first site that is where the problem started. We were driving in circles like we were on a wild goose chase for an hour. We experienced lack of proper communication from the management of Expedition to the driver and the amenities that were meant to be provided was not provided like proper air conditioning, free WiFi..etc It was very frustrating that we and other passengers decided not to continue with the tour. We spoke with Emmanuella and expressed our disappointment to her, which she promised to escalate with the Expedition Go Tours Finance department. A big thank you to Mr Thompson who came to apologize, explain and told us he would have loved to reschedule and take us the following day but unfortunately we had commitments that did not allow us to go. He validated our concerns, disappointments and was a very pleasant person. We demanded an immediate refund and we were told from the head of finance that it will be a few days. We would like to reiterate our demand that our refund be made to us as soon as possible!!!! I would like to state that I was not expecting to be making this review and it is disappointing because the reason I picked this tour was primarily because I trust Trip Advisor and I’ve used the website recommendation many times and I have not had a poor experience before. I would like to advise tour companies, and people offering various services that proper communication and organization with customers solves problems. Without effective communication from the top of the chain to the bottom, nothing works properly and every experience should be handled with the utmost care and importance.
We had such a great experience with Expedition-Go Tours! As Americans with limited experience traveling in Ghana and with Ghanaian culture, having a company that was so responsive and reassuring from the very beginning made a huge difference Emmanuella was incredibly communicative, patient, and helpful. She answered all of my questions before our trip and made the entire booking process feel easy and comfortable. We paid a little extra for a private tour, and it was absolutely worth it. Mr. T was fantastic! He arrived on time at the airport, was warm and professional, and was extremely knowledgeable about Ghana’s history and culture. We asked a lot of questions along the way, and he was able to answer every one of them while also giving us helpful insight and context about the places we visited. Mr. T was also very flexible when our plans changed during the tour. We needed to attend a real estate investment meeting, and he graciously adjusted our drop-off location to accommodate us. We truly enjoyed our time with our guide and only wish we had more time in Ghana. Expedition-Go made our short visit feel comfortable, informative, and memorable. We would absolutely book with them again and highly recommend them, especially to first-time visitors to Ghana.
Booking the tour was a very seamless process. I was picked up from my location. The customer service was very responsive. It was worth the charge. I did not feel I overpaid. The guide at the Kwameh square was calm and knowledgeable. That particular experience was very emotional for me. Reminder of our past Heroes. I have a whole new respect for President Kwameh Nkrumah My group was a small one so it was easy to manage. Loved it and would recommend to anyone visiting Ghana 🇬🇭
Excellent tour of 2 museums, independent square and tower, time in Makola market. Air conditioned minibus. Good guide, Porche.
This tour packs a lot in one day. My 7-year-old son and I was surprised to cover so much ground and learn so much in such a short period of time. It was a great educational experience and a good way to get a lot of culture. If you are on a short trip, I would highly recommend it.
It was a nice experience to listen to the rich history of Ghana and in the process got to learn that Sierra Leone country is part of the history of. Our tour guide, Mr.T seemed knowledgeable, he was nice, patient and experienced. The kids and I had a nice day with him and by the end of the tour we were happy and drained 😊. Definitely it’s something we would love to do again and of course, share with family and friends that if ever in Ghana, it’s something they must experience.
When you come to Accra, you must experience the Accra City Tour with Expedition Tours! I had an amazing time with Daniel. I would absolutely do it again to learn even more about the rich history and beautiful culture Ghana has to offer. Expedition Tours was incredibly accommodating and responded to my inquiries right away. Thank you, Expedition Tours, for an unforgettable experience! I highly recommend you to anyone visiting Ghana.
Great tour, very professional and overall a good experience.
We had an informative and fun day with our tour guide Wisdom. He was incredibly friendly, caring, and told us a lot about the history of Ghana. As a family, we learned a lot from Wisdom and the different places we visited. For anyone interested in the history of Ghana, this tour is a must-do.
Polite, efficient driver/guide able to narrate city landmarks and markets. Excellent professional guides at the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah museum and at the National Museum of Ghana. Note that the Center for National Culture is actually an extensive flea-market type setup with a mixture of authentic Ghanaian art, Chinese-made "fakes," and old leather products. It's difficult to know what anything is actually worth, so I ended up not buying anything, despite the constant (and I mean constant) solicitations of the vendors.
Emmanuel is an amazing tour guide. I loved this city tour - it was very efficient and informative. I highly recommend it!
Thank you so much for everything you did to make this journey so special. I have been looking forward to responding because I truly wanted to express how grateful we are. Our experience with Expedition Go Tours exceeded every expectation. The level of professionalism, organization, and exceptional service your team provided from beginning to end made us feel welcomed, cared for, and safe throughout our journey. What made this trip extraordinary, however, were the people. Our guides quickly became more than guides—they became family. They didn't simply take us from one destination to another; they walked alongside us, shared their hearts, answered every question with patience, and gave us a genuine understanding of Ghana's history, culture, traditions, and people. Their passion was contagious, and because of them, we experienced Ghana in a way that no guidebook could ever provide. As a group, my clients and I left Ghana forever changed. We laughed together, reflected together, and experienced emotions that are difficult to put into words. Standing in places like Cape Coast, being welcomed by families during our naming ceremony, sharing meals, and interacting with so many beautiful people created memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. We didn't feel like tourists—we felt connected to the culture, the history, and the people. Please extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a part in making this journey so meaningful, especially our guides. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made all the difference, and they represented Expedition Go Tours with excellence. Thank you again for helping create an experience that touched our hearts and strengthened our connection to Ghana. I look forward to bringing many more groups to experience the same warmth, excellence, and hospitality that Expedition Go Tours provided. With sincere appreciation, Julia
Our guide...Wisdom....absolutely amazing!!! So professional, so kind, so very knowledgeable....so Patient.... made our day extremely joyous!!!
It was a great experience. We toured all the city attractions. Our guide was knowledgeable, kind and patient. A little disappointed wasn't able to go to the W.E. Dubois Center.
The experience was good well organized but, we were told that together Dubois museum was closed and under renovations after we were halfway through the tour only to find out later that is was open and we could have gone. The museum was under construction but still open.
Lovely tour guide! We learned a lot and had a lovely day touring Ghana. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made our day exceptional! Our small group made our day feel more special. We were a couple traveling with a one year old. We would recommend this tour with a young child.
Wisdom, Prince, the driver, and all of the site tour guides were incredible, it was such a fun day! We had a small delay due to some rain, but Expedition Go Tours managed it beautifully and we still explored so many sites, I recommend them if you love history & art!
Emmanuel provided a thorough, organized, and informative tour. The pace was easygoing, the sites were seen, the van was cool in temperature, and I learned a lot about the vibrant cultures of Ghana. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you Emmanuel.
Cost effective way to see main attractions of Accra with an accommodating and flexible driver/guide.
Amazing team and seamless service. My friends and I had a great time.
Amazing tour. Emanuel was very knowledgeable. Went smoothly and would definitely recommend tour if you are in the area.
Enjoyed tour. Was very impressed by how well the tour was. Emanuel did a great job and was very knowledgeable.
Michael is very knowledgeable. We asked questions and he had answers and more. We liked his disposition very much.
The trip was amazing, guides were very knowledgeable and it was an amazing learning experience. Everything within schedule, everyone always polite and respectful. The food was also amazing. I only wish there was time accommodated for pictures , and time to say a proper goodbye to the guides for those wanting to tip them . Everything always felt rushed .
Amazing experience of Ghana and Pan African ism. Culture and Art is at the forefront of this tour. Air conditioned transportation and a tour guide that will negotiate in your favor. 5 star experience
Absolutely, a great tour. It was well worth the money. We spent nearly seven hours out and about and there was few things that I would say were boring or uninteresting. It was a tour for everyone. Such a good experience. The tour guides were excellent. The National Museum was educational. I just thought that the tour allowed a good view of Accra, the capital of Ghana. There was just so much to appreciate. The guides were very knowledgeable. They were friendly and engaging. Never felt like I was lost or confused as we explored the various cultures and tribes that make up Ghana and Accra.
It was great tour with Michael, he showed us the best sites in Accra and was knowledgeable about everything.
Great way of getting to know the beautiful intense city of Accra!
Our Accra City Tour was amazing. We had a wonderful tour guide. Even though the WEB DuBois Museum was closed due to the Easter holiday, he still made sure we got to see every other location. He even went as far as taking us to places we asked such as to get food. We appreciated his services and he was also very knowledgeable about his country and even helped us to negotiate with the locals. Book this tour. It’s totally worth it.
My husband and I were picked up from our AirBnB apartment which was outside of the zone. This was appreciated and the minibus arrived on time and was clean and comfortable. The tour guide, Porscha, was personable, friendly and helpful throughout the tour. It was a great day of education about the history of Ghana and its culture. The only suggestion would be to include a lunch break around 12-1pm as opposed to it being at the end of the tour. Overall a great day.
We had an excellent guide in Mr T. He was very diligent and knowledgeable, telling a lot of fascinating stories for young and old. Even though the tour took us through the middle of Accra traffic on a hot day, he kept his cool, was very patient and looked out in a very gentle way for the slower members of the group. Amazing experience!
It was a great way to learn about the Ghanaian history and culture in a short time.
If you’re new to Accra, this tour is a really good way to settle in. It didn’t feel like a typical tour more like being shown around by someone who knows the city well. We moved around comfortably, no stress, and got a good feel for both the busy and more relaxed sides of Accra. The guide was easygoing, helpful, and made the whole experience feel very natural. Also appreciated the little things like help with photos and just making sure everyone was comfortable throughout. I booked all my tours with them and everything has been great so far. Best for first-time visitors who want a simple, enjoyable introduction to the city.
Wonderful Wonderful experience....was picked up on time and the tour guide Mr T...Thomson was excellent...knew his country well and shared great insights
We absolutely loved Mr. T. He was very informative and so kind. He made sure the experience was top tier. I learned so much just on the ride alone. He was able to answer and verify so many questions I had. I would highly recommend.
Mr T was my tour guide and he was knowledgeable and friendly. I appreciated his deep understanding of the history and perspective as a Ghanaian from Accra. A great way to hit the highlights and learn in a short period of time. Highly recommend!
This tour was very informative on Accra's history. Emmanuel was amazing not oly informative and friendly on the tour, but also gave recommendation for places to go in accra which was helpful as a solo traveller
Emmanuel was great. The tour was interesting and it was a great way to be introduced to Accra. I would recommend this tour.
Terrible. Please don't book this trip you will be disappointed. Car broke down, no WiFi, no air con which was in the advertisment. Waste of money.
The city tour was very good. We appreciated the differents guides we had at WEB Du Bois, National Museum and Mr T. , the view of Makola Market. It is helpful to learn part of Ghana history and culture, see artcraft. We appreciated to have the air conditioned private car. The length of time was quite intense for us (about 5 hours tour). The city tour length is not suitable with very young children (too long for them).
This was a great intro to Accra and a perfect way to start our trip. Thompson was a fantastic guide—very knowledgeable, patient with our questions, and he made sure we had plenty of time for photos and souvenir shopping. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city for the first time!
Thomas picked us up in a well air conditioned vehicle for a day of exploring Accra. We made stops at some of the most important places in the city. Thomas was very patient, polite, and went above and beyond to accommodate everyone . I will recommend this tour to all of my friends and family.
First thing to say is that our driver and lead tour guide Thompson aka Mr T was fantastic, he was engaging, knowledgeable and flexible given we went on this tour with our 4 month old baby. The best bits of the tour were the bits that he led The downfall, however, was that he didn't lead the whole thing. When we went to different monuments, we had guides from those places take us around and the quality varied wildly, e.g we had a guide at the WEB Dubois museum who in the room dedicated to pan africanist leaders, could not explain what pan Africanism was. This tour structure led to going to lots of monuments and just having things pointed out to you, this is x, this is y without at any point a clear and overarching narrative of the history or story of Ghana ever being explained. This wasn't aided by the constant handing over from person to person as it meant often things were repeated as they did not know what the previous person had said, and no wholisitc narrative was built. The best portion of the tour was the Dr Kwame Nkrumah memorial Park which Mr T led. The tour could have been great if we had one person with us the whole time taking us through the all the stops, who could tell a story of the history of Ghana that runs through the monuments and leaves you with a clearer impression of the country. With that in mind, the order should be different too, we should start at the museum of Ghana, then W e B Dubois house, then independence square/gate then the markets and then finish at Dr Kwame Nkrumah memorial park.
My wife and I enjoyed our experience with the Accra city tour. The variety of experiences was excellent, as was out tour guide. There were additional guides at the museums, who were also excellent and whose cost was included in the tour price. The van was comfortable. Our tour guide/driver was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating to our interests. Well worth the price and a great way to see the highlights of Accra!
