Baldo was outside where we disembarked the cruise ship, promoting his tour. His English was perfect, he accurately described the tour he could give us. A number of passengers from our cruise ship agreed to go with him. Best decision we made. He had a roomy Toyota Sienna with good air conditioning. He gave a fantastic tour and was very considerate of everyone's needs. We went up the hill to the peace chapel, through the downtown market streets, a restaurant for some refreshments, and then to see the cliff divers.

We were packed into a van with little air conditioning. Charged $15 for a seat at the diver show. Promised us a drink(insinuated) a margarita and it was a can of coke or a Corona. We asked if there was food to be purchased and were assured there would be. There was no food available. Our tour guide was okay and spent time talking to another passenger in Spanish. The bathroom stop at a liquor store was off-putting. We drove along a road and did a circle. It was explained some areas were damaged due to a hurricane. Driving in a circle to show terrible lagoon damage was a waste of gas. I Do many viator tours and this one a mess. I have never written a poor review however, wanted to help others. Disorganization at the divers site was #1 problem. If you are looking for a crowded van with questionable A/C and disorganized stop, you will like it.
Mario was very friendly. The vistas for photos were beautiful. The tour itself was lacking some content. There was not much historical or cultural content apart from old Hollywood stars used to come here. The cliff divers are the main attraction and for $15 extra you get a drink and a shaded seat for the show. My primary complaint is the transportation. The van was small but it also was not suited to sightseeing. The front window was entirely blocked from the back seats by a large TV. The solid part of the ceiling came down very far into the side of the van so the side windows started below eye level. Maybe neck level. You couldn't see anything and I was in one of the better seats. People in the back saw nothing. The air conditioning was also not sufficient but it was incredibly hot and humid so I kind of understand that. This van is more suited to take people to the airport or something, not sightseeing. Even with the extra $15, the tour was cheaper than the cruise offerings, but sometimes the extra money is worth it. On a very positive note, Our itinerary changed mid-cruise and so we were not in Acapulco on the day we were supposed to be. I contacted the tour operator and they said, 'No problem, we're going to meet you on the day that you're here.' So that was nice. I just expected that I was going to lose the money because it was short notice. Two women in our party were also very late to the tour because they didn't understand time zones, and the tour operator was also very understanding of them and we swung around and picked them up when they got there, so if I were them I would be grateful for that. A note about accessibility: The chapel is a long walk up a steep hill and a bunch of steps and everything so it's not very accessible, although there were some folks who managed it. And the La Perla bar where the viewing for the cliff divers was also has a significant number of steps and a few of the staircases didn't have any kind of railing so we had to lend some fellow cruisers a hand in getting down the stairs. All in all, it's not a huge regret or anything, but I wouldn't take this tour again or recommend it to anybody. We had a very nice view of the cliff divers, so there's that 🙂
My guide Oscar was fantastic, as was our driver Alex. They took me all over Acapulco, explaining what we were seeing, talked to me about both the ancient and recent history, and were very eager to answer questions. My only criticism of the tour is that it does not include lunch, despite the Viator description saying “includes lunch.” If I had known ahead of time, I could have brought a snack.
It was a great tour. Alex was an excellent guide. We saw a lot of Acapulco. The cliff divers were awesome, and our lunch was delicious.
If you have a short time in Acapulco of which we did, this is the best way for a taste Our hosts Malu & Jose Mario complemented each other with the knowledge of this amazing place
Baldo was a fabulous tour guide in Acapulco. We spent the morning and afternoon learning about the history of this once glitz and glamour city, seeing the Acapulco Beverly Hills where JFK and Liz Taylor, John Wayne… frequently visited and then witnessed the infamous cliff divers from a premier table overlooking the cliffs while we ate lunch. There were 7 of us all different levels of ability and he accommodated us all. Cold waters upon arrival. A generous soul. His van was comfortable. His English was perfect and we loved learning and getting the lay of the land. Tourism has really taken a hit since the hurricane a few years ago. We felt very safe overall. Reach out to him directly like the previous review suggested. That’s how we found him and loved our day with him! baldo-work@hotmail.com
Tour was good. We were supposed to have a mini van and the guide showed up with a small Corolla type sedan for 4 people. A bit tight to say the least
This tour was perfect. Jesus met us at the cruise port and the four of us piled into the minivan to start our tour. Alex was our driver and took pictures during the tour. We received a video of our trip, by email, to remember all the sights we visited. We visited the Chapel of Peace, scenic overlook of the city, and the cliff divers. We took the suggestion to get a table at the restaurant that overlooks the cliff and enjoyed the divers while seated in the shade with drinks in hand. Traffic was heavy, but in our vehicle, we were able to take back roads everywhere. Skip the cruise boat excursion with 60 of your closest friends and long waits--this private tour is worth it! Yes, the hurricane damage is still apparent, but did not detract from our experience. Thanks to Jesus and Alex for a great tour.
Couldn’t go see the cliff divers because of an unfortunate protest on the streets. Even though we were able to change to events of the day quickly.Saw an amazing rescue for alligators while being able to actually hold them!! Then release turtles into the ocean. The day could have been a bust because of the protest but the tour guide saved the day.
We hired Baldo Gomez to show us the city of Acapulco. Whatever we wanted to do, Baldo made it happen! We felt safe, saw the entire city, the new and the old. Capilla de la Paz on a hillside, 1,200 feet above sea level, was beautiful and had a grand view of the Bay of Acapulco. He then secured the best table at La Perla restaurant where we ate (delicious food) and watched the magnificent Cliff Divers. Our price was reasonable, and compared to the shore excursion offered by our cruise ship, less expensive, more flexible and better accomodations to view the cliff diving. We recommend Baldo for any tour big or small, shore excursion or week visit. He will take care of you and keep you entertained and safe. Baldo Gomez, email: baldo-work@hotmail.com. We actually found Baldo, from several other people from all over the world that boasted his talents in a review just like this. They were right.
This tour is a must see when you visit Acapulco. Our kids range in age from teenager to early twenties, 1 boy and 2 girls. It’s tough to keep them all interested in the same things but this tour does that. Rudy and Alfonso are the BEST team. Our tour was in a clean, spacious, air conditioned 12 passenger van. They were prompt in picking us up from our resort and immediately began sharing their knowledge and insights about Acapulco as we were driving off the grounds. We learned so much about the history of Acapulco and loved hearing about the Mexican history that we don’t learn about in America. One thing we loved was seeing the authentic Acapulco, not just the tourist areas. The views are truly breath taking. The market was filled with so much it was hard to take it all in. They drove through the market and even let us purchase fruit and snacks from inside the van. They were so accommodating when we expressed what we wanted to see or do. Although we did not think we wanted to see the cliff divers, I’m so glad that we did. It was amazing and we even got to experience some Junior cliff divers. The 4 hours goes by so fast as Rudy and Alfonso keep a good pace to make sure you see everything, but we never felt rushed. I honestly don’t know what we liked the most. It was a great way to start our visit to Acapulco.
Our tour guides were excellent! They made sure we had a great time and were very attentive to our needs. They showed us parts of Acapulco that the average tourist may not see. The market was very interesting…saw the inner workings of a local bakery and got to meet the owner and sample some baked goods, had a cooking lesson in a local restaurant and went to a piñata “factory”, small family business making and selling piñatas. All in all, a very good day!!
We really enjoyed being with Jose. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The city is very interesting my favorite was the chapel. The bakery he took us to was delicious
Great tour and experience. Saw and learned a lot. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get a more personal tour around town.
Lupita and Pepe were excellent hosts and guides. We enjoyed them very much. We have a whole new respect for Acapulco and look forward to visiting again.
We had a great tour of Acapulco! Our tour operator Jose L. Peralta spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable of Acapulco history. It was also nice that Jose took pictures of my husband and I on the tour which we received as a slideshow afterwards. Highly recommend this tour!
We were met at the cruise port by Rudy and Balfre and although we'd booked a small group tour in a van, we were fortunate enough to have a private tour by car with Balfre. Balfre was very friendly and had brilliant local knowledge. He took us to every corner of Acapulco and finished off the tour with a trip to see the famous Acapulcan divers. They were spectacular. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Acapulco.
We enjoyed the tour very much. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The area is beautiful.
Absolutely lovely guide to this beautiful city! Kept us entertained for two full days. Knows every corner of this island.
We were picked up, very near our Airbnb, an then had a private tour for just the 2 of us. Our driver guide was very respectful, and knowledgeable about the places he took us to another Acapulco institutions
This 4 hour tour of Acapulco was perfect. You actually get to see beyond the resorts and tourist areas. Our guide, Jose Mario, was very informative about the history of the town and Mexico in general. Any questions we asked about history , a place or a building he had the answer. One of the neat things about this tour is that you get to see some of the neighborhoods of Acapulco. Definitely recommend as a safe and comfortable to get off the beaten path!
We had a wonderful excursion led by Poncho Alfonso! He was prompt, courteous, and genuine in showing his passion for his hometown. The diving show was amazing, but we also appreciated how Poncho took us off the beaten path to give us a deeper appreciation for everything Acapulco has to offer. This trip was an incredible value and we will never forget it!
Jesus was a very kompetent and friendly guide. He told us a lot of history. Thank you for the nice tour.
This city tour is a must if you want to get a good understanding of Acapulco and its history. Our tour guide Rudy and his good friend gave us a very comprehensive tour of the city. Regretfully we were not able to see the church of peace because it was closed but they took us to other areas of the city including the Acapulco market which was astonishing. As residents of the city, they were able to give us very good explanation and understanding of the things we were seeing and why Acapulco is the way it is. The Piece de resistance of the tour is watching the cliff divers. Our guides were able to tell us where to position ourselves so we can get an excellent view of this once in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend taking a tour with Rudy it will be very informative and well worth the money
Tour guide was very knowledgeable about local areas. Showed the locations as described in the package. The cliff diving was excellent.
Great tour for a great price. We got to see things we wouldn't normally get to see. Diving show is a must in Acapulco. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable of the history of Acapulco. Thank you!
I spent a wonderful day with Jesus. While showing me the sights of Acapulco he shared a wealth of information on the city. Being a local who's parents also grew up in the city Jesus did not just share information but managed to give me a view of the heart of the city. He shared many stories of his childhood that made the history come alive and gave a behind the scenes peak at the standard tourist spots. I had a wonderful time and can truly recommend Jesus to anybody who are interested in learning more about Acapulco.
Roberto Alarcon was the best tour guide! He was very friendly, always on time, very knowledgeable, and treated us like family. Highly recommend him!!
This was a perfect tour to see Acapulco in a short time span. Tour guide and driver where fantastic with answering questions.
This tour was excellent. Jose was my guide. He shared so much detail about the city. So much history. He was super kind and checked what kind of food since I'm vegetarian. He let me know when there where different options through your the day and if coat was involved. I truly enjoyed it. He also took tons of photos.. I Can not wait to see them I would definitely recommend this tour!?
Great, knowledgeable tour guide. Would do it again. Punctual and accomodating. Like private VIP tour.
The food here was super good and the cliff diving was amazing. One more spot on my list where Elvis was filmed in a movie
This is truly one of the best tours that we have had out of all of the Mexico cities that we have been to. Jonathan Basilio is the most professional guide that we have had and is very approachable as a subject matter expert in not only Acapulco but Mexico as as a whole. Don’t believe what you are hearing out there about the place.... absolutely amazing! The people and environment is very safe! They can’t wait to meet you:)
Our tour team gave us an excellent exposure to the history and overall Acapulco experience, including the Chapel of Peace, various neighborhoods and areas of the city, the silver mine exhibit and jewelry store and the famous cliff divers. The entire tour was personalized to us, and I have superlative impressions of our tour team Alfonso and Jesus!

A very good tour when you have limited time and want to hit most of the highlights of Acapulco!

Tour Guide: I highly recommend Jonathan Basilio for a Taxi driver and Tour Guide. He speaks fluent English, will help you in every way around Acapulco, takes you to the best sites in ONE day, will help you negotiate money, and is a true gentleman. We went to the La Quebrada Cliff Diving show, to see the countryside and downtown, see the old Hollywood area and the Flamingo Hotel, went shopping at the markets and the Silver store – Villa Artesanal, The Chapel of Peach, The Old Fort of San Diego, The Mural Diego Rivera, saw the Diamond area and beautiful homes of Sylvester Stallone and other actors that live here part-time. Call him directly at +52, 984-158-1105 and please tell him Riana sent you!
This is a reasonable price activities . It included city tour; tortoise release;cliff diving and visit the famous chapel of peace. It's a 6 hours fun in Acapulco. You going to like.
Roger our very knowledgeable driver/guide picked my Canadian father and I up precisely at nine am. Upon meeting, we were told our tour guidelines were changed to include the turtle release. While we not expecting this, we were open to adding the extra time of going to the turtle release sanctuary as an American client lodged out in the Diamente Zone had purchased a tour that included turtle release. This took place at a very beautiful beach that had a roped off area where I chose to also release a baby turtle for a donation of 50 pesos. Along the way to do this we picked up Jose another guide who would assist the tour. Jose explains his newly adapted philosophy for the necessity of worldwide humanity through the education of Eco-environments and animal preservation awareness especially related to the Mexican attitude today and its past. As a teacher I enjoy this tour as a truly positive and interestingly educational experience for the majority of the tour. However, parts of our time especially in the B&B silverstore were not as comfortable due to the aggressive sales personnel trying to sell us over priced items in American $$$. We bought nothing even though We both liked something enough to ask how much, we did however tip for the drinks they gave us "free". We continued on to the divers. As the other client had purchased a seat inside the restaurant on a covered balcony we were given the choice to upgrade our tickets here to include a place inside with one drink included or also a meal. Since we understood the other client was taking lunch at another table we opted for a meal too. This upgrade was 300 pesos per person. After ordering we were invited by Jose to join the other client who was seated on the other side of the locale at her request. So we moved to join her. It was at this time things got a bit uncomfortable again. A misunderstanding was smoothed over between the other client and Jose. Finally, we watched 5 divers ascend to the top of the cliff to the dive point. Many boats had gathered to watch the performance of the divers. We were taking pictures and enjoying the spectacle of this incredible feat of bravery. After the divers are finished our lunch of 3 enchiladas arrive, we eat while the guides Jose and Roger rest in a lounge area. Upon exit of the restaurant we were surprised by the 5 speedo wearing divers who were made available for pictures with tourists for tips. For me this should have been articulated before hand as it was unknown to us that divers would be expecting to collect some $$$ from us at this time even though we had already spent 600 pesos plus tip for the waiters service. We were unprepared for this. It was at this time I notice a change in Jose's demeanor and asked if he was ok he said he was hungry and concerned about being a bit late to meet his wife. I understood his position about being behind schedule, we waited in the van for Roger and the other client. When they arrive Jose said he was taking us back to the hotel. But that quickly changed as there were still two things on the tour description that still hadn't been seen. Jose and Roger have a conversation in Spanish about the timing of the tour being off. As we drove up to a view point above the port we were given a description of the place we would visit took in the view with picture taking. Lastly we were to go to view the Diego Rivera Murals , as we drove down a steep hill Roger gave us a very interesting description of the artist and his lifestyle then Jose inexplicably stopped the van while on this steep hill during this explanation by Roger. As the van door did not open and because we were listening intently on Roger's oration of Rivera's life We did not know that the famous mural was on the retaining wall outside of the stopped van until after the van was moving again, so sadly we missed the entire mural. All in all, it was a worthwhile and interesting tour, we had a good experience and the tour guides were good, we especially enjoyed Roger for his patient enthusiasm and articulation in the English language.
Great day exploring the city. Started out at the chapel of peace and ended on the beach eating lunch at a local restaurant. We learned a lot and had the best margaritas watching the cliff divers. Something you should defin. check out. Miguel #4 email :acapulcomikehome@live.com.mx
Very interesting all the places and the explanation and attention of the guides, very good. I congratulate you. Highly recommended
Muy bien tour, excelente opción para conocer las diferentes la caras de Acapulco, su personal muy atento el guía amable en todo momento
Wonderful tour, beautiful views! The staff and attention of Mario our excellent guide.. it is a walk worth making you see all the faces of Acapulco
PACHA EXPEDITION LA PAZ the biking tour was very spectacular, the guides very good, the accessible price 450 Bs , the wonderful scenery.
Super excursion.
I really recommend the tour, I hired him at the last minute and despite that everything went great, they were punctual and Rudy is a great guide who explains a lot about Acapulco and the places we visited! Recommended!
Cette excursion était vraiment bien. Informez vous avant pour confirmer si le repas est inclus car dans notre forfait c’était mentionné que le lunch était inclus mais nous avons dû payer notre repas. À part cet inconvénient, tout était excellent 😊
We were picked up by TEMO and passed on Day 4 with him, he took us to everything that includes the tour but very willing and even let my son put on his hearing aids to give the talk. Lunch was Just a well Thursday and was fabulous. Apart from the fact that the tour was private we had a great time with the gentleness of Temo waiting for us and putting affection to the ride. 100% recommended. Then they send you a video and photos of the day.
Excellent! With highly qualified and friendly people. Have an excellent morning. Met our expectations 100%
The Service was excellent, as well as the attention and friendliness of all the crew who attended us throughout the tour. The release of turtles was fantastic! and knowing Diego Rivera mural in the same way!! is a highly recommended tour particularly with this team of professionals!!
